We really like Lubys. I have been eating at Lubys restaurants for probably over 35 years. The food at this Lubys is really good the staff is nice and the place is clean. I got the Angus Chopped Steak with mashed potatoes and corn. It was very good. I also got another to go, and my brother got the cheese steak. We will definitely go back.

I have not been to a Lubys since the one in the Woodlands was closed. I took my granddaughter and my husband for the first time in their lives. They truly enjoyed the food. My granddaughter ate until she was full. The clowns in the lobby nearly scared her out of the restaurant. Thank you for always providing the best family atmosphere.

The food was good. Not great but decent for cafeteria food. Wife had spaghetti and I had chopped steak for lunch. I know prices have gone up everywhere but it was $40 and honestly Golden Corral is better for a lower price. The floor staff were not attentive and I had to go looking for condiments as well. Again we dont have that problem at Golden Corral.

Great service over the phone and during pick up (Thank you Amy!), plus clean bathrooms, hot fresh food, and plenty of parking. We ordered a family meal. We enjoyed it all except the candied yams. Not everyone can make southern candied yams so we took a risk with that one. We will order from here again. Kid-friendliness: Kids enjoy Lubys and its easy to feed them a balanced meal in a pinch when youre not able to cook. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible parking and seating.

I may be mistaken, but I think Ive noticed that their Meat/ entree portions are becoming smaller. Itd make sense, more so than fast food as it just increases food portions 7.5% to justify a 40% price increase. I feel like I should have a to go plate if my monthly lunch bill is more than all my utilities for the same duration of time.

Overall I was a bit disappointed. The mashed potatoes were not near as good as normal. They were out of broccoli which was a letdown. Fried fish was a bit stale and dry, but it did have to wait for me to eat it until after the car ride home. Instead of coming to the takeout area to discuss my options for side dishes, the manager hollered at me from across the serving line. Then forgot to include the deviled eggs for the order. It just seems that the chain needs to do a Refresh on their stores and their menu.

One of the last frontiers for all things steeped in tradition and delicious. One of the 1st places I can recall eating as a child (currently 36) and this place never disappoints. Dear Luby s in Conroe Texas Not a good experience today! I have loved eating at Luby s in the past and was excited when I was in Conroe today to eat at this location. The new potatoes not so new, left over and reheated and when served to me cold. Left over potatoes have a distinct taste. The next disappointment was the cheese cake, not sure what that was but NOT the cheese cake Luby s use to serve. The employees were nice and is the only nice thing I can say from this location today. All in all not good.

Why is Luby s charging for to go containers? On 11/29/23, I went to Luby s and purchased two to go LuAnn plates, I was charged a fee for the to go containers. What are you all expecting to go customers to do? Should I have brought my own containers so I wouldn t be charged. This is really discouraging. I just started back patronizing Luby s after 20 years. At this point I will take my business elsewhere. I will also make sure this is communicated through all my social media outlets because this is really absurd.

Ive always enjoyed going to Lubys, but this trip wasnt great. My chopped steak was so charred, I had to cut the bottom off as it was inedible. The staff was friendly and corn and potatoes were good, but the entree is the biggest part of the meal.

I love Luby s as always been a great place to get great southern and healthy freshly prepared foods. The issue with this one is the food quality can be hit and miss. That really distresses me because I love their food when dine right. I realize cafeteria like food places are a dying breed. I only wish they were more consistent. It is a catch 22 as if they do have become more consistent they will close down. So I hope they invest the money to improve! Well, the food was ok, but not very hot by the time we were seated. The server, Sandy, was courteous and friendly, and attentive to our needs, as my hubby and I are both disabled. If I could have given them no stars I would have. I knew the food was going to be bland and expensive, but this was ridiculous. I ordered a catfish with sides, but the one piece of meat was ridiculous. They charged 14.99 for 1 piece of catfish. I went back and asked why and they said CORPORATE will not send them a button. Stopped by for lunch, got the chicken fried chicken, black-eyed peas, cabbage & cornbread... I wanted mashed potatoes but for some reason they leave the peeling on em & I guess Im just old school, its not that hard to peel them & I dont like the texture as the little wadded pieces make me wanna spit it out... so I opted for the cabbage - that was tough as all git out because it was under cooked & slightly cold by the time I got to my table... which was a table for 6 because all the small tables were full of dirty dishes... the chicken was kinda bland, but definitely edible... I asked for a to go box since I wasnt able to eat the cabbage (Ill cook it the rest of the way at home) & had plenty black-eyed peas & chicken leftovers... took at least 5 minutes & I asked a server who do I see about a refill on my tea & she walked by like I was invisible or she was hard of hearing... the couple at a nearby table heard me & tried to get her attention too, to no avail.. guess they need help, but there was 5 servers in the side I sat at, who clearly needed to be bussing tables & why they call em servers since all they brought me was a to go box, its kind of an oxymoron... anyways, Lubys is usually a great place to eat, my first time at this one, might be the last visit here... Yall dont just take my opinion, go see for yourself & post your reviews so management knows where to improve... have a great day! I have tried this restaurant perhaps a dozen times or more. The flavor of the food is always exceptional. The portions are decent and the pricing is reasonable. What I don t like and which is common for cafeterias, is the food is sitting under warmers, and by the time you get it on the plate, through the line and to your table, it s barely warm, if not cold. This restaurant tends to run out of their key items, such as roast beef, frequently. Furthermore, the signs they post in the restaurants are misleading. When you see a sign that says « pork chops« you tend to believe it s more than one. Wrong! The cleanliness of the restaurant was fine. As for specific items, the « almondine » was some kind of mystery. fish made with almonds. The server did not know the type of fish she was serving. The « cheese steak » was a thin piece of ground beef, covered with cheese, onions, and bacon. It was filling, but the flavor was strange. The roast beef is excellent when they have it and their multitude of desserts is something to enjoy.

So this afternoon my son and I ran an errand that took us to Conroe, not far from home. We were both starving, having left work and school not long before then. I hadnt had a chance to eat all day, and as we passed Lubys, my mouth started watering, and memories flooded back to when the boys were little, and my wife and I would take them out for dinner. My son will be 18 next month so he was looking at his phone wanting to hit a fast food joint, (there are plenty in the area), but I finally convinced him to have a stick-to-your-ribs, down-home, southern-style meal with his old man. I gotta tell you, it was worth every penny. We both enjoyed it. Its been 8 years since his Mom passed away, and we just talked about her, stuffed our faces, and enjoyed each others company , and the sweet tea. On the way home , I mentioned that I missed that fresh sweet tea, and he said he does too. Lubys reminded us of another time. There was no frozen pizza, no microwave dinners, no sitting in front of the TV. Just me, and my little man (hes as big as me now), eating a wonderful meal, the kind I grew up on, and reminiscing about the way it was. I could go on about the wonderful service, the fact that the food tastes like your Grandma made it , but if you havent taken the wife and kids to Lubys, well brother, youre missing out. To Lubys: Thank you! Thank you for keeping it real for all these years . Thank you for putting love into what you do. Well be back again, and again. Youre a part of my family , and we love you. Update 8/31/23: Hasnt changed a bit, and thats the way I like it . P. S. The German chocolate cake is the bomb !!! Thank you for another wonderful experience Lubys. Parking: Theres ample parking, and a covered drop-off area, right at the front door. I will caution you though, if you drive a sports car or something else that sits low to the ground, you might have difficulty with the driveway on the Longmire Road side. Its rather a steep angle, but I managed without scraping. Besides, theres always the West Davis Street entrance. Kid-friendliness: Of course, its kid-friendly, and they serve giant dessert at the end so you end up getting more food than you can eat in two meals, but thats what takeout boxes are for... Wheelchair accessibility: The whole place is wheelchair accessible, from the covered area out front of the building and the sidewalk ramps leading into it. The restrooms were well equipped, and the staff is always willing to lend a hand, carry a tray, or refill a drink. My wife Michelle had a disability, due to a car wreck, and I have other family members in wheelchairs, and Lubys has always been accommodating.

I love Lubys. I always have, even when it wasnt/isnt cool to love Lubys. Wanna know what else aint cool? The fact that this Lubys location is always out of roast beef, which is the only reason I go to Lubys. I went twice this week trying to scratch my roast beef itch. Both times they were sold out of it at 2 oclock in the afternoon, so I took my business elsewhere. I think its safe to say that of the maybe 10 times I went to this location seeking a roast beef meal, half those times the elusive meat was MIA. I used to manage restaurants in my younger years, and I understand food costs. But simply being out of a main entrée item all the time is not saving money, its losing customers.

The fish and mashed potatoes were delish! The Mac and cheese was not good at all which was extremely disappointing and the rolls were dry. The bathroom smelled so gross!!! But the staff was so freaking friendly.
