These new reviews can NOT be accurate. Bert has moved mountains -literally- and brought my husband and kids together after a 4.5 year long battle. Not only has it been that long, but we live in TN - the other parent in Tx. To even take us on was a big task. I cant thank him enough. From James to Abby to the big guy himself - this plave has made us feel like family and that they care. Abby even made us all keychains the day before the last hearing. By no means should you hire Bert as your family attorney, unless you want to do all the work yourself, gather evidence, photos and have him ignore it all submitting nothing to the court. Or have his paralegal tell you that the opposing party has an upper hand because they are pro se. Or if you like being ignored by email and phone calls, having to call back up to 3 or 4 times for an update only to be told youre getting a call back (again) and you still have to call back yourself to continue getting response. And of course, if you like to throw money away by having your case sit in the back burner, have the judge tell your attorney that he should do more research on documents he is filing and finally lose the case, this is your attorney to hire.

While Bert was helpful during my initial divorce process, I am here to warn you that he/his office will leave you high and dry with no communication once everything is finalized. So if you are looking for an attorney to help you navigate the waters of post divorce find someone else. I ve had questions and needed advice regarding the post divorce stage that I ve desperately reached out to the office and Bert in order to get answers multiple times with absolutely no communication back. I ve emailed, called, left voicemails and even spoke to someone at the office that assured me I would received a call back and nothing. For years after my divorce was finalized. Please beware that they do not care about their clients once you ve paid them in full and finalized your paperwork.

Really wish I didnt have to do this but I feel scammed. Mr Steinman took our case for the only man my daughter has ever known to finally adopt her. But because we werent married (despite 7 years being active in her daily life) the judge sided against it. This gave her biological father rights he didnt have prior. Now Im fighting a man in court that never wanted to be in her life on anyones terms but his own. Meanwhile Mr. Steinman has the nerve to ask for more money. His guidance and knowledge of the system was poor and unethical. He will take your money sure but leave you dry with nothing to show for it. Hes negligent and should retire.

They never refunded my money even though an hour had barely passed since I scheduled. The absolute worst Lawfirm I ve ever had The misfortune of dealing with nothing was handled right the opposing counsel was served one day before court was due so we had to have it postponed, never actually went to court, overall just terrible experience and waste of thousands of dollars they didn t even have the name right of the people who were involved in the court case. If I could give you zero stars, I would nothing was accomplished not only that, but they won t reply to important emails for days to weeks at a time and then try to charge you for asking them for updates to the case after hearing nothing at all.

He decided that we did not need a lawyer when he could have used fear to try to get money from us. He is the worst attorney. He signed documentations without reading them and ensuring that his client understood the documents. Did not appeal case when client made a request. Did not follow up on information provided to him in reference to his clients case. Allowed the CPS to lie, abuse and place children in an unsafe environment. Ignored clients calls and avoided her calls to not represent his client according to the oath that he swore. Allowed CPS to violate court orders and would not file any motions requested by his client.

Bert is very knowledgeable about family law. He was able to get me custody of my daughter in Liberty County. Every court date was a success in our favor. It took longer than I anticipated but not due to anything Bert failed to do. He was very proactive in getting us in front of the judge. His rates are fair and reasonable also. Can I give negative stars? Absolutely HORRIBLE attorney. Hired him for 2 cases he didnt do anything with either. 1st case was a family adoption. Mr. Steinmann did nothing. The other family member finally had to hire another attorney to get anything done. 2nd case was a basic divorce that took over a year. Should have been 90 days and done. I lost everything. My ex (who did unspeakable acts) walked away with the house and my retirement. I was left penniless. Hire any other attorney.
