About the Company
rating: 4.6
The Museum of the Coastal Bend exists to foster an appreciation for the unique heritage of the Texas Coastal Bend through exhibits, collections, educational activities, and preservation efforts. Our permanent exhibit displays the last 13,000 years of Texas history, from the first inhabitants of the Coastal Bend region through the French, Spanish, and Mexican colonial efforts, up to the range of diverse influences that have created the modern Texan culture. Learn about how the archaeology, indigenous people, French contact, Spanish influence, Columbian Exchange, and ranching, played a part in making the Texas Coastal Bend so unique. Our mission is to enhance the appreciation and enjoyment of Texas' mid-coastal region's heritage.

This was a very cool museum. The admission is free, but please make a nice donation. We were expecting to pay to get in, so we put in what we thought we were going to spend. There are some nice artifacts and lots to read. It kinda takes you back in time & shows you how life was way back when. They have evidence of inhabitants going back 13,000 years. Thats right - thats their claim. Pretty fascinating. If only we could actually time travel ... They have a nice gift shop. Some toys & trinkets, books, shirts, the usual. If youre into history, especially Texas history, this is a must-see for you.
