Other than waiting a long time for the food everything else was good. It was kind of busy but it took 45 minutes for the food. Waitstaff was fine as was the food. It s a small place and fills up on a Sunday. I would go back but during a less busy time.

We didn t stay very long because while we were the first and only patrons in the restaurant, it seemed that the three cashiers would rather sip their coffee and sit behind the register and eat their breakfast or go and stand over by the kitchen area and talk and laugh and joke with each other than Take their time to get our order correct but it doesn t even matter that the order was incorrect after waiting 20 minutes for food. Some parts of it were cold and some parts of it were rubbery and it was probably the worst experience I have ever had there and reminded me of the incident that made us stop going Hit or miss with the staff and the food. It can be absolutely amazing or it can be straight trash.

Pleasant little cafe with burgers, sandwiches, pork chops and other American items. They have specials each day of the week - including Sundays. I ordered their Burger Special (Mondays) - Outstanding burger! Very flavorful, well-cooked and good size. The ambiance is definitely older - probably catering to an older audience - but it is comfortable and very clean! Recommend this place.

This has always been my favorite place for lunch, but on Saturday it was a little different It started when we walked in and gone were all the cheerful young girls as waitresses and hostesses. They were always so delightful and added to pleasure of going to the Whistle Stop. The food was excellent as usual, but the thing we all look most forward to is the Italian Cream Cake! Instead of it being deliciously moist and loaded with that fabulous cream cheese icing, it was extremely dry and had almost no icing between the layers. Our only conclusion was that maybe it was frozen before serving. Please bring back your original fabulous ITALIAN CREAM CAKE!!!

On a girls day out, the four of us came upon the Whistle Stop Cafe. We ordered Meatloaf, Salmon, Shrimp, and Chicken Fried Steak. All four dinners were very good! The portions were big, the food delicious and prices good. The desserts were delicious as well, and portions also big, really good prices. Will return in the future.

We were told the food was good. It was delicious country home cooking. Service was great. However I truly hope the owner takes a day to clean the a/c vents. They re covered in mildew (mold spores) and dust. Some of the ceiling tiles must be replaced, they re warped which says water damage. Not ideal for keeping your employees or customers safe and healthy. Looking forward to returning and seeing improvements in atmosphere.

I ve never said this before as my husband is my witness this is the most nastiest food I ve ever had ever .all I gotta say is what happened? I used to eat here a while back along time ago with my dad and the food and place was really good actually amazing!hadn t ate here in years. I m not the one type of person to complain either, but I had to. I Was so excited to have my husband try it for the first time from what I remembered it being so delicious years ago but the food was DISGUSTING. The fries were soggy. The chicken was rubbery, it was worse than fast food for the amount of money that we spent. I m super disappointed and not one to write reviews but I m highly disappointed.The macaroni was disgusting. I never have had food ever this disgusting ever in my life and Im the type of person who isn t picky and will eat anything so that should say a lot! like I said years ago when I ate at this place it was delicious. I don t know what happened.

We had breakfast there this morning, and it was a wonderful experience. The wait staff was super nice and helpful. The food was delicious! I had the westerner and my husband had the boxcar. Ok fair is fair,here we go! Great plaza with an antique look of the Wild West .Good number of parking spots available. Soon as you walk in the restaurant the smell of wet carpet and moisture all over the restaurant is strong. Servers were nice with a smile and motivated except for the female server in charge. She was not motivated and happy to have a job. Servers clothes and attire were not very clean and presentable to be serving food.I will give this place another try in the near future. Hopefully I can modify my review.

Stopped in this morning for breakfast and it did not disappoint! Desiree was so sweet and attentive. We had 3 breakfast tacos (egg, bacon and cheddar cheese) and biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are homemade and totally worth even a side order!! The prices are so reasonable as well. Would highly recommend.

This place used to be soooo good, man. The staff still rocks, but the food has suffered a bit; not sure why. Some things improved, some things declined. Fried pickles got way better - very good. Chicken fried steak has gone downhill - much smaller and very chewy. They may have changed their coffee, too - it hasnt been that good the last few times. Well give it one more try in the near future and decide accordingly.

We were very surprised at the filth when we walked in, the floors were sticky & covered with food & trash. We decided to give it a try anyway, as I have often found fantastic food in unlikely places. Long story short, the service was no better than the cleanliness. After being seated & after an unreasonably long wait, we ended up leaving without ever having our order taken. We were not in a hurry or being impatient, but this was ridiculous.

I m very impressed with this place. Steak and eggs for me, breakfast bowl for the Mrs. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted better than your local steakhouse. Breakfast bowl was a huge portion and equally delicious. Short stack on the side was fantastic. Above all, the prices weren t outrageous. Been meaning to come here when I pass through Conroe and finally did. I was thinking it was going to be so cute but it was a run of the mill diner where the outside looks better than the inside. There was trash and food on the floor, some dirty tables, and old feeling for the decor. Just needs some upkeep and updating. Food was okay and definitely needed more seasoning and/or flavor. It took a bit for anyone to come to our table and once we put in our order, our waitress forgot some of our items. Glad I visited but nothing makes me want to go back. Try it once and see what you think!

This is a charming place, good food and wonderful desserts. The staff is friendly and attentive. Its a wonderful place for a meal. It is family friendly and a good place to have a meal with friends. I will happily dine there again. My group tried the carrot cake which was excellent, and I had the lemon merengue pie, delicious! An excellent meal with really good service. Parking: Parking was easy Kid-friendliness: There is an under 12 menu section with kid friendly food choices Wheelchair accessibility: There is handicap parking available, ramps and reasonable clearance. Two members of my party use rollator walkers and we had an easy time getting in and out . A wheelchair is usually a bit larger than a rollator, but I have had to use a wheelchair recently and I expect a wheelchair would be easily accommodated in the restaurant.

I am relatively new to the Conroe area about 3 years. I have several people recommend this place to me but had not gone until last weekend. A friend and I went looking at Christmas lights. After we were finished decided to grab a bite to eat. It was about an hour before closing. Was only a couple other people in there. The service was good. The atmosphere was good. The food was great. Not a good experience today I called my order in at 12:15 for pick up at 1pm. 45 minute courtesy, I arrive at 1:05 and get cashiered out expecting for her to turn around and grab one of the bags of food that were ready to go. She told me she needed to go check on it, I told her it was suppose to be ready at 1. She said Yah, we are running little late no apology, no sorry it will be out soon! They say everything is bigger in Texas. The chicken fried steak is the smallest I have ever seen. There is no mention of an extra large version on the menu. This is how they justify serving a chicken fried steak that is about 2oz of meat (about the size of a chicken tender). Breakfast was meh. They use chopped frozen french fries for their breakfast potatoes. Their sausage gravy clearly is premade. Good place to take your kids. There were mostly families with small children when we visited. However, if I wanted frozen and prepackaged food, I would stay at home and throw something in the oven. Takes less time and I dont have to tip myself for standing around texting on my phone rather than filling my coffee and water. Also this place is not mobility friendly. No wheelchair access that I saw and has two giant steps that encase the building. Anyone with bad hips or knees or even on crutches will have a hard time entering the building. There is no handicap parking near the entrance either.

Went here a couple weeks back, was not way impressed. I will say the service was decent and the food didnt take long to come out but in my opinion the flavor was not there, it honestly tasted like no seasoning was used at all I ordered the chicken fried steak fingers with mashed potatoes and both were very bland plus the mashed potatoes were completely bone dry. My husband and kids got breakfast food and said it was ok but nothing to write home about. I ended up sending mine back after one bite of each item and had them take it off the bill and even with that our total was almost 50 dollars, for one adult meal and two kids meals. We looked online at their pricing before we went and were kinda upset the pricing at the restaurant was much higher. I get it, inflation sucks, but had we known we would be paying that much for subpar food we would have gone elsewhere. For anyone reading this trying to decide on a place to eat in Conroe, I highly recommend the honor Cafe for breakfast and Vernons country Cafe for lunch/dinner. Have never been disappointed with them!

Oh boy where do I begin. 5 waitresses and it took her 10 min to come take our order and there were only 3 other couples in there. Fried green tomatoes were flavorless. Philly cheesesteak was lacking meat cheese and bell peppers. There were literally 6 tiny pieces of bell pepper. There was more bread then anything else. No flavor at all, guess they forgot what salt and pepper was. Patty melt was bland and dry and once again no seasoning. When the bread hides what was suppose to be a 1/2 lb theres a huge problem. Lets talk about these onion rings. Never have I ever seen white fried onion rings. And once again no seasoning just plain flour. This was the worse food weve had in a long time. I expected the atmosphere to be a bit more cheery I guess. I was there late morning and it was very dark inside...sort of like an old English pub. The lights were dim and even though I sat by a window I still felt like I didnt have enough light. My server was very sweet and my food came out fairly quickly and hot. The bacon, eggs and pancakes were good, just not exceptional. I also got grits and didnt like that they were served in a styrofoam cup...and they had a bit of a funny taste. It is pretty far from my house so I wouldnt make the effort to go back.

We went here for lunch. A friend got the chili and chips and salsa. The chips seemed like tortillas cut up and fried. Very salty and the salsa was pace picante. Not even decent. I ordered the 6 shrimp plate. I subbed Onion rings for an additional 1.25. It came with 2 hush puppies, the size of grape tomatoes. I received 5 onion rings. So bland I think I am 60 and republican now. The 6 while hot and fresh had the same coating, but still bland. I tried to use ketchup, but it tastes like fermented vinegar. Also, we were told they were out of gumbo (was not even listed.on the menu), but the people we set behind us could order it as they mentioned it to them.

What an awesome spot! Finding this spot in the small town of Cascade was like finding gold. Excellent service and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the Country Fried Steak Skillet with French toast. So good.

My wife and I met her parents here for lunch on Friday. I had not been here before, so I was looking forward to something new. I had the open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. The portion, food, and service were good. Hopefully, they will have the cobbler if we visit again in the future.

Good home cooking type foods, nice staff & a clean restaurant... cant go wrong with all that... Wouldve been 5 stars all the way, but when I opened my chicken fried steak sandwich, it looked like the outside pieces of lettuce that had black spots & looked nasty was what they expected me to eat on a dry bun & they gave me gravy on the side... had to ask for the mayo, pulled the funky lettuce off & enjoyed most of the sandwich... theres a lotta breading that stretched beyond the actual meat & the bun was falling apart, but the part that had meat was tasty & the onion rings were good too!

Mother s Day at noon our family walked into this establishment. The hostess wasn t helpful. We asked to have a high-chair and she said she would bring one. Five minutes passes by and my toddler begins to start getting fussy and I still have no high chair. So I go grab my own, listing it above the crowds heads as I approach my table. Our server, friendly with exceptional service was absolutely a great experience! Thank you, and great story, Whistle Stop Cafe!

This place was dirty. There was food underneath the tables. Not just crumbs, large chunks of food from previous parties. Also thr restaurant had a permiating smell of burnt oil or grease. Do not go here, the staff needs to work on cleanliness.

I DO NOT Recommend anyone eat at the Conroe Whistle Stop Cafe. The atmosphere is dead, the odor inside smells of wet paint, old folks, and animals, and the water is disgusting and tastes of chemicals. I am certain that ANY Food prepared with this establishments tainted water very likely would have been inedible as well. Fortunately my taste buds helped me dodge that bullet. If you use terrible water to prepare the menu items, the end result is terrible food.

Normally the Whistle Stop is a great place for breakfast or lunch, but today wasnt one of their best days. I ordered breakfast which included hashbrowns, eggs, bacon and pancakes. When it arrived the hashbrowns were cold and the pancakes were barely warm, and the eggs were barely warm. My wife ordered hashbrowns, eggs, ham and French toast. The eggs and hashbrowns were cold, and the French toast was cold and she had to wait nearly 10 minutes for her ham to be fried. I think todays problem was caused by lack of communication when our order was actually ready for pickup by the waitress. Hopefully this wont happen in the future. The restaurant was only about 3/4 full of customers at the time.

Server was really sweet. Food was decent and fair price. Food came out a bit cold and under seasoned, but not bad. We did have to have one of our party send their fish and chips back because one of the filets was still frozen in the center. Overall, wed go back and give it another shot. Not at all impressed. We wont be back. Food lacked seasoning. Got the fish...not much flavor to it. Side dishes were as if they were just out of a can. Sweet Tea was very watered down, hardly tasted sweet, and lacked any flavor.....so I changed to a soda. Soda didnt taste right either... too much carbonation or the machine needs cleaning. Reminded me of food you might get from a school cafeteria. Priced high for the food they are serving.

A little on the small side; only as an observation not as criticism. The food is excellent and portions sizable. I had the breakfast bowl. I would recommend it. Other is my group also enjoyed the food. Great and attentive service, friendly staff, and good menu. You have to know where it is or find it on Google because it s not in an obvious location :) We will go back and take others with us for sure.

Have been meaning to try this place for awhile. Finally stopped in for dinner. It is a quiet little diner. Country decor. A little dark and in need of some upkeep /paint. Overall service was decent. Menu is diner food ,burgers, fried chicken,sandwich platters etc. Food came out hot and without much wait. Nothing to complain about but noting to bring me back either. Just ok!

Came for a belated Good Friday fish and chips and wish we hadn t. The fried pickles were great, but everything else was not up to the standard we ve experienced here before. The hush puppies were hard as rocks, half of the fries were hot but half were fridge/freezer cold, the fish was the most disappointing - rock hard and burnt. To send food out like that is unacceptable, even for a casual restaurant. We should have sent it back, but I just didn t have the bandwidth. The service was nice at least. I normally wouldn t complain but for so many things to be so wrong with a meal that you pay for, well that s not really nice.

Not sure what happened with the hamburgers, but mine was this wafer thin partial patty. The pickles and tomato were thicker than the patty. I had to open the bun to find it. The patty was tough and the fries were cold, definitely not worth $9.00. I was there months ago and saw the hamburger my friend was eating and it looked awesome. Something has changed. Not sure Ill be back. The waitress did not get 1 of our orders correct (3 people in our party).

Not much say except If you havent eaten here youve missed out. Service staff if friendly and helpful, atmosphere is inviting and the food well not going to spoil it too much but the breakfast and lunch menu will entice to ponder Do I want Breakfast or Lunch? We have had migas, omelets, fried pickles, chicken fried steak ALL AWESOME. Just be warned it can get crowed at lunch during the week and brunch/lunch time on Sundays but well worth the wait

First, I really enjoy WSC for lunch and/or dinner and have had breakfast previously, just the basic bacon/eggs and it was good. Wait staff is always a delight and attentive. Stopped in for breakfast, specifically asked if the chicken fried steak was frozen and was told no. Sadly, whether it is or not, I will have to say that this was at the top of worst breakfast Ive had in quite some time. I ate most of it since I was starving but did not finish. Just dont order the CFS. I picked all the disgusting batter off, cut the hard burnt edges off and smothered the steak in gravy. Seemed like it was microwaved. Hashbrowns were ordered well and they were lukewarm at best. Loaded it with gravy and eggs but just couldnt finish them. Toast, looked like it was smashed - like something had sat on top of it. Definitely not WSC standards for this breakfast. Hot tea was hot and honey was sweet! Do better on breakfast WSC. Will stick to lunch/dinner.
