We had heard good things and had expectations for a good dinner. The server was a TAMU student who chatted easily in a friendly manner and had a good sense of interaction but not too much. Food was excellent, but not the Mac and cheese. The cheese was weak and liquid. It didnt stick to the spiral noodles and collected in the bottom of the cup. Its a 4 star review for a good place.

Wonderful atmosphere, amazing staff and service. Food presentation was beautiful, unfortunately, the taste was terrible. We had a wide variety of dishes with a party of 7, but not one dish was rated as good . Also, the bartender had no idea how to make any of the cocktails we ordered.

If you are a pilot or you know a pilot and you find yourself in Aggieland then you owe it to yourself to have a meal at Gate 12. Reservations are accepted so you can plan ahead and you will need to plan ahead on Game Day weekend/Parents Weekend etc. as the wait without a reservation can be substantial. The view, and here is where the reservation comes in, cant be beat assuming you love aviation. Ask for a table on the glass and youll find that you wont be able to get closer to an active taxi way without a clearance from the Control Tower. Game Days youll watch wealthy Ags arrive on their private jets or a soon to be pilot doing touch-n-goes in the pattern all while enjoying a fantastic meal. The service has always be friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. The dress is a mix of students / parents / Former Ags up from Houston in their suits and parents of the visiting team. We have eaten here often. You will not be disappointed.

Very unique restaurant spot. Love being able to watch the planes come and go. Service was good and the food was great. Got the chicken fried steak which had amazing flavor. What I loved most was the side of bourbon glazed carrots. It was perfectly al dente and the hint of butter made it extremely addicting.

The kids absolutely loved watching the planes come and go. The food seemed like an attempt to be fancy for fancy sake. We plan to go back for sure, but next time, we will look for simpler items of the menu. The shrimp and grits were good, but the turkey club was a miss. The meat was sliced so thick that the kids had to eat it with a fork and knife rather than eating a sandwich. The food overall was okay, but the presentation and prices give the impression it will be much better/more than it actually is. Kid-friendliness: The kids were so excited watching the planes come and go. Make sure you get a seat by the windows.

We like Gate 12 because of the atmosphere. The menu could really use some good vegetarian options- they have the vegetarian plate and you can choose 3 veggies- perhaps a pasta primavera could be offered? That always makes vegetables look more attractive. Or black bean soup? Watching the planes land is the best part and is novel enough to keep us coming back.

We have been coming to Gate 12 for years and have always enjoyed it. On a date night, we had a particularly egregious incident where a waiter spilled red wine all over my husband and me. The mistake itself was forgivable, but the waiter handled it inappropriately. We were quite upset but we didn t want to act in the heat of the moment. My husband wrote a note about the situation on the sales receipt with his phone number. Two days later, Gate 12 management called my husband, asked him to recount what happened, and listened. When he was done, the manager apologized, said that it had not been handled properly, and that they would be having discussions with the back. They fully rectified the situation. We were very pleased that the manager took care of the situation. While the initial handling by the waiter was inappropriate, it was refreshing to have the restaurant manager acknowledge this and work to make it right. We appreciate it. We ve had many years of good memories at Gate 12 and want them to succeed

Surprisingly upscale atmosphere for the location next to the airport. There was a disconnect between the host/ hostess and the servers. We had to complain to get waited on, but then the service was attentive. Food was tasty, but not outstanding. Crab cakes were nicely seasoned, but very little crab in them. The wedge salad was fresh, but nothing special. Kid-friendliness: Too upscale an atmosphere for small children.

Im not sure where the great reviews come from. Yes, you can see airplanes. But thats dependent on where you get seated. I had the steak ribeye special and it was awful. Zero flavor. Poor cut of meat. They were out of Coors Light. Dont know how that happens. Its not a low volume craft beer i ordered. But the worst part was very dated bathrooms! Omg! For a place charging $50 for a poor steak, i would expect something better than dorm room bathrooms! Pic attached i was so disgusted for a fine dining restaurant. Zero chance Ill return.

Nice place adjoining the executive terminal at the airport offering views onto the ramp and runway. Menu offers lots of choices - probably too many for all of them to be great. Recent order of a shrimp dish was just okay while other options like burgers were really good. Prices tend to be a little high; but, remember you re paying for the view too. Service usually good. Overall a good choice for lunch or dinner.

I recently reached out to try and make a reservation for a group of friends and family through their coordinator, and I have never been met with such shockingly rude and unprofessional behavior. What I thought would be an easy process turned into them demanding my card information to hold my reservation before answering my questions as to how I would be charged, the seating arrangement, their cancellation policy etc... I politely asked my questions, reiterating the logistical questions to make sure I fully understood the agreement before giving any of my card information (which anyone would do). The general manager chimed in the email thread with the coordinator and gave me a disrespectful response saying that looking at your last reply it was best that my reservation be cancelled (in the reply I simply asked about which room we would be in: the private dining room or main space)!!! I was utterly shocked at the response and passive aggressive tone in his response. I am truly not sure where things went wrong, I re-read the whole thread but I was kind and professional through each response, truly seeking clarity as I had never dined here before. The unkindness and disrespect was really uncalled for, safe to say I will never be dining here haha, and will be sure ward others away from ever experiencing this as well!

I was in a group of about 10 people, seemed like service may have been a bit of the slow side, but we were a large group so that may have been it. Ambiance was neat, would have liked a better view of the airport, but again it was a large group so that may have been the issue. All in all I would definitely go back. :) Vegetarian options: I saw a portabello mushroom option on the menu.

Went here with some friends for dinner night before the A&M/SC game (10/27/23) and saw the Leap Frogs go out and do a practice jump to the stadium. We got here early enough before the crowds waited for their tables. Got a whiskey as we waited and enjoyed the open bar space. The bartender was nice and made some solid drinks for the ladies. Then we got seated at a long table and started with calamari, fried mozzarella sticks, and stuffed mushrooms. All of these were good starters that both kids and adults enjoyed. Enjoyed my Apricot Horseradish Salmon (though a little small) plate with asparagus. The waiter was friendly and gave some great recommendations and I highly enjoyed the cool atmosphere.

Have eaten here multiple times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Every meal has been sub par minus the Turkey sandwich they have for lunch the Turkey sandwich is amazing but it stops there! Tried brunch there today we had biscuits and gravy . What seemed liked canned biscuits were burned, the gravy was so salty I could barely eat it. We also had chicken and pancakes . The chicken was so hard that you could barely cut it, ZERO seasoning, and the crust / batter was a huge disappointment. I definitely got the cheap pre battered chicken breast vibe. Tyson frozen chicken from Walmart is better than what they served me today. Today was my fourth or fifth visit here and will unfortunately be my last. $75 for two people for food that you don t eat is just dumb. There are 25 + brunch places that you can try in town that are so much better and worth the money and time that you will waste here. I do not recommend Gate 12 at all. On a positive note, the owners other restaurant J Codys usually has great food! Skip Gate 12 and head over to J Codys

Racist establishment. Cal the so-called manager with extremely poor people skills and the two hostesses were very condescending and rude to the point of hostility. They were whispering, yes WHISPERING amongst each other right in our faces because they were refusing to add an extra seat at our table. We basically were given a lecture as to what the proper etiquette is when making a reservation. After close observation, we literally were the only hispanics in the ENTIRE restaurant. Our family is in town for the game and visiting our son who is a Senior at A&M. What a total disappointment. We looked forward to the whole dinner with a view experience here for over a month, to be so rudely and disrespectfully treated.

Our first experience with this fine dining experience. It doesnt really have a fine dining feel since youre looking out the window at construction vehicles while also watching planes come and go. Although the service, table scape and decor makes it feel more like fine dining. We are not a fine dining couple. We are a meat and potatoes couple so we thought we wouldnt enjoy it. The prices were definitely higher than our typical cuisine. However, the food was amazing and definitely warranted the price. My wife had the chicken fried steak and it was just right. The steak was a proper size without being huge and the green beans were amazing. I got the chicken/shrimp combo scampi. There was so much food so I didnt feel cheated with the price. The flavors for the pasta were amazing. Side note, the mushrooms in the scampi were perfect. Ive read the 1 star reviews and I cant imagine their experience from the same place.

Stuffed chicken is poor at best. Burned flour taste just wont go away. I had one bite.... I had steak and mushrooms. Whilst much better than the chicken dish the mushrooms were not prepared correctly (should cut the end of the stem off) steak was requested med rare was med well to well. All this to 48 min from seating. Took 20 to get water. Approximate 20% capacity on arrival. Under 10% now. Been 10 min since I tried the chicken. Wine and garlic bread cant shift the burnt roux taste. Edit: In fair disclosure the manager asked about our experience on leaving and listened to above. Without request he offered to take the meals off the tab and even followed up with a confirmation call shortly afterwards. Ive been several times before and based on his response will go back and give them another go.

Update: I gave it another chance and it was still a one-star experience. We sat at the bar this time, and despite a lot of staff working behind the bar, the service was still very slow. The mediocre calimari had excessive breading and was not served hot. The draft beer selection was poor. Even though the bar was not crowded, the ambiance was loud and chaotic. The crab cakes were mostly bread crumbs and barely any crab. The side of grilled asparagus had only 4 spears. Service was friendly but very slow and took 4 trips to get the drink order right. Seeing an occasional aircraft taxi by didnt justify the bad food and overpriced wine.

Wonderful place for walk-ups of one or reservations for your group. Wide assortment of foods for most diets, some tailoring possible, but not dedicated food restrictions. Our waiter was precious and on top of things, because our party straggled in...but the meal and drinks were timely. I can not wait to visit again.

I do not normally give 5 stars but there wasnt anything I could think of to merit the removal of a star. The bread and flavored oils were unique and flavorful. My house salad was full of tastes and textures that really went well together, a little sweet, a little salty with not too much dressing. My steak was prepared perfectly. Well seasoned and hot when it hit the table. Just as good the next day for leftovers. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Would eat here again!

The honey glaze bbq sauce was a great addition to the burger. To top it off, you get to watch planes taxi by and then take off. Pretty cool

If you bring a cake for a birthday or graduation they charge a $3 / person cake fee . Even people in the party that didnt eat cake. Ridiculous. Guess our large party will spend money somewhere else next time. They also asked for a CC just to make the reservation so they could charge us $100 if we didn t keep the reservation without at least FIVE days notice.

I have mixed feelings. The people were nice, the place is nice, the setting and environment is great. My Reuben sandwich, was honestly disappointing, and moreso at the price point. Im going to chalk it up to having expectations of something a bit different. Ive ordered Reubens at restaurants all over Texas and what I usually expect is more of a corned beef with actually sour sauerkraut, and a bit of tang to it. Here, the meat was good, probably fresher, and it was overall a good sandwich, but Id place it more in the barbeque sandwich genre than a Reuben. There may have been some cabbage on the sandwhich, but it didnt seem like sauerkraut at all (Im from the New Braunfels, San Antonio area originally and used to good German Sauerkrauts) and it definitely had more of a brisket vibe than corned beef. The Caesar side salad was fine! Overall, Id go back, but Id pick a different menu option.

I had great expectations for the place, and when finally got there, tried the stroganoff. What a disappointment. The beef was ok, very very bland, but at least tender, the pasta was a little overcooked, and the sauce was just a liquid with taste of beef. I give it 3 stars because the appetizers were great and the cheesecake and the drink were good, but the main plate was a total failure.

Came around lunch time and didn t seem too busy. I ordered an iced tea and the Caesar salad with added shrimp on top. Service was pretty slow, took a while for the server to come back around so I could ask for a lemon for my iced tea. The salad itself was very underwhelming. It s a side salad served on a larger plate. The greens themselves were ok and the bacon crispy but the croutons were stale and the dressing tasted like generic bottled dressing. The shrimp were very disappointing. 3 tiny, dry, bland, tailless shrimp for $10.95 extra. Horrible value. For that price I was expecting at least medium to jumbo sized shrimp. No refill until I was finished and ready for my check. I also noticed other tables had bread, I m not sure if that s extra but I wasn t offered any. $20+ for a pretty pitiful meal. Definitely, not worth the price.

Nice for families, couples, friends or even business meetings. I will definitely put this on my list to return. I suggest you try it ENJOY!

I was really excited to come and try this place. My husband and I enjoy fine dining and after reading reviews and the hype we were excited to try it. We came here for a birthday dinner and the place itself isn t too shabby, but definitely not a place I d call fine dining, it s just a cool place to watch planes land. Neither the appetizers or the food itself were anything to write home about; food was cold and service was mediocre. It s practically an overpriced J. Cody s meal (owned by the same people), which you d be better off going to. Not worth the hype or the price. I really wanted to like their food, but believe me, you ll be better off elsewhere.

The staff service was nice but they appeared to be understaffed and they did not come to our table much. Appetizers were good but the burgers and meat in the turkey sandwich was burnt and over cooked. My dad s steak was cold as well. The pricing is not worth it in my opinion.
