On 06/26/2024 at Gabbard Park in College Station, I watched a man running back & forth with his unleashed large dog. I asked him to put his dog on a leash & he ignored me. Leash law signs posted everywhere. Does not feel safe to walk here with my 4 lb dog. It was only after the city workers showed up to mow that he tied the dog to a tree. We had driven over & while circling around to return to the car? His dog was very agitated seeing us. He also did not care about picking up after his dog even though poop bags are provided. This is not safe for anyone humans or pets judging by the way the dog reacted towards us. Hope the dog does not chase after the ducks either since the owner had zero control over the creature.

I stumbled upon Gabbard when longboarding to campus one day: nestled within a neighborhood, Gabbard Park is one of College Stations hidden gems (along with most of the citys other parks). Whether youre there for the pond, the play ground, an afternoon picnic, or for a short run, its hard to beat the environment Gabbard Park has to offer. The park is so great, I forget to take any photos when I go. I promise its almost always better than the bleak January day I captured. Picnic area: Theres a few great tables to picnic on. The grass is also wonderful to picnic on, too.

This park is well maintained and great place to walk your pet and enjoy shade. There is an open patch of lad next to it to throw frisbee or play fetch. As for fishing, it is a nice little spot to get a variety of sun fish and blue gill. There are no public restrooms to offer but it is a nice little spot to sneak away to in the middle of a neighborhood. Overall trail is maintained, has little creek and Pond area and sitting areas to take some nice photos.
