We wanted a nice hike for my 75th birthday. Crescent Bend was a perfect choice. We paid a lot of attention to grass and bugs this time. When took a path to the creek, we encountered 4 beautiful crested regrets. The bird-viewing blinds were crowded, but were able to enjoy them, too. This park is a hidden gem!

Great place to take your dog for a trail walk. The trails, parking areas, and restrooms areas are well maintained and clean. I ve noticed the dog owners that take their dogs here are courteous, maintain control, and clean up after their pets. Overall great location and appears safe most days BUT always be aware of your surroundings as there are a lot of people that drive through and wildlife about. If you re looking for distance, it s about two laps of the trail for a 5k. This includes the little loop by the front parking area and sometimes making a trip to the restroom area and back to get the 3.1 miles in.

This serene park with 2 bird blinds, trails among mature Pecan, Oak, Live Oak, Hackberry, and other shrubbery varieties is a great place to go birding, walking, running, and taking family pictures. With 2 maintained bathrooms and a water fountain, its the perfect place to visit. There are also trails that line Cibolo Creek if you want to see water fowl or go fishing. We visit year round to follow the migrating and resident birds. My favorite resident bird species are the Barred Owls. They truly are amazing!

This place is absolutely gorgeous. What a find!! So suprisingly breathtaking when you walk the trails that are winding all around the park, and down by the water, under canopys of tree branches and vines. You can hear different birds calling. And the wildflowers are just amazing and everywhere! Not to mention the caterpillars , the butterflies, fireflies, and different birds. I have seen turtles leaping into the water from the banks. There are picnic tables and places for picnics in the grass. It has free parking and entry. Theres parking at the front, middle, and back of the park. One entrance/exit only. No playground. Pets are welcome. Must be on leash and supervised . Bathrooms are up front on the left as you enter. Oh and I forgot to mention the bird blind!! ( ) Hours are :7am- 9:30 pm. Love this place! ,

Beautiful wooded area with bathrooms, and crushed granite paths. Dogs are welcomed, on a leash. However, there is a dog park area so they can run free. And its right next to Cibolo creek for the fishing fans. Please check it out, we need more areas like this. My hats off to Schertz for the amazing woodland wonder.

I havent been there in some time but I used to live on land that would become part of this park after the flood came and washed everyone away. The park is at the southern tip of the Blackland Prairie, a long, thin strip of unique geography that runs up through Northeastern Texas. Bordered on the North by the Edwards Plateau and Hill Country, and on the South by Post Oak Savannah, the flora and fauna of the prairie are quite different than what youll find even just a few miles away in the surrounding area. Lots of birds and other wildlife. In the summer watch out for Rattlesnake, Coral Snake, and Cottonmouth down near the creek. Ants as well, and speaking of stinging things, Bull Nettle. I cant tell you how many times as a kid I got too close to Bull Nettle and regretted it! Some years there was tons of the stuff growing all over, often getting five feet tall and as big around. Seriously, if you see a bright green weed with big hairy leaves and big, white, mallow-like flowers keep your distance! The lightest touch will leave you feeling like youve been attacked by fire ants and the pain and swelling can last for hours.

Visitors can also fish near the bridge as well. There are also water fountains for humans and pets next to the public restrooms. There are benches along the path and trash cans. Also, this place is great for capturing photos of nature. The area is a flood zone so be careful when it rains. Check out the Schertz Parks and Rec website for more information.

It s an unexpected thing of beauty so close to the hustle and bustle with none of the noise. An easy escape with great trails for a much needed nature fix not to far from home!

I absolutely love it here. Ive been in the dead of winter (low 40s, raining) and just recently was my first spring, and I love it no matter what! Always see deer. So many birds. And with everything growing and plants in full bloom theres flowers EVERYWHERE! Just watch out for the giant ants
