When phonatic first came to Austin, they were great. But just like most chain restaurants, they got lazy and complacent. They stopped caring about the food. Me and my fiancé has been to this location quite a bit. The last few times just wasn t good at all. This time we got the pork egg rolls. These are normally ok, but this time they had a weird taste to them. Can t explain it. Just can tell something is off. We also got the bowl of brisket and meatballs pho. I have never had thinly sliced brisket taste sooo tough. It tasted as if I was chewing on a rubber tire. Devoid of any flavor. They were very stingy with the meatballs, and we paid for extra. The meatballs are normally my favorite things. This time, they were just as bad as the brisket. Overcooked and texture was that of rubber. I bit into one meatball and immediately hurt my tooth on a whole peppercorn inside of the meatball. I think it s time to find another pho spot or go back to cooking it at home. Maybe the past few times we re off days, maybe not. But we won t be back. Eggrolls, 2bowls of pho with brisket and meatballs plus tip came out to be $60 .

It s Aug 23, 2024. 7:15pm. I ve came here with my family of 5 for 4 years, at least 6 times a month spending $100-$150 each time. The last two visits with the new employee at the service counter has been horrible. I reconsidered coming here today because of how bad our service was. We see him again and was reluctant but gave it another try. This time, he was worse, utterly rude with no sense of customer service. Not only did he make us feel horrible to be in his presence, he was dry, unhelpful, and worse, taking our order seemed like a disappointing chore. He clearly needs training because this is no way to make a customer feel welcome. I d hate to not come here anymore but this type of behavior is unacceptable and really makes for a horrible experience. It s too bad. We really liked this place. Willing to change the ratings and come back if this behavior is corrected.

Of the afternoon so quite slow. Employees were eating. I stood looking at the menu for three minutes or so and one of them got up and took my order Service adequate. I ordered half of a Banh mi-pork and half bowl pho. I requested no cilantro on either one. My order was delivered about five minutes later and there was no cilantro in sight. I find that awesome as that little detail is often overlooked. The sandwich was better than expected on warm fresh crispy French baguette, a little bit of pickle veg, lots of pork. It had some type of Asian male on it as well. It was really good.. The pho on the other hand was a huge disappointment. I used to come in 3 to 4 times a week and order it. It was absolutely a staple. And was really tasty.. I haven t been in for about a year as the last time I came in Service was poor and the food was really not good either.Tje pho today had I have Round as the protein along with rice noodle and chopped green onion lots of fresh basil and beans sprouts on the side. The sprouts were already turning brownish and indication of lack of, but my big complaint was that the broth to the Pho, which is usually what it s all about had very little to no flavor. So disappointing.

Im super supportive of this Phonatic at Cedar Park. You will find everything very fresh ( especially veggies and meats ), tasty, and with good prices. We showed up at 8:25 and they close at 9:00pm. The guy behind the cash said - can you be out by 9? We said um sure if you get us our food soon he then looked at us and said it s gonna be too close. Too close. Sorry too close . Sooooo ridiculous. Turning away customers 30 mins before closing. And it s a pho restaurant, which takes no time to prep. The dude was obviously trying to close early and leave. We won t be back. For the owners - this was the night of 1/19/2024. You should fire the guy taking orders.

Do not recommend. The pork was sour, my husband asked for no onions and when his food came out it had onions. We asked for another one without onions and a few min later, the guy came back with his hands covered in green onions and he wiped his hands on his pants as he put the bowl back on the table. Went there around 7pm on Saturday night. The place only had 1 other family in the entire restaurant so it was not busy. There were multiple tables that were not cleaned with food sprinkled on the tables and the floor. The food was terrible. The noodles were over cooked to the point they broke immediately when trying to pick them up with chopsticks. Broth flavor was bland and wasn t worth the high cost. Overall need to avoid and just disappointing.

OMG how do they get this divine texture in the crispy tofu?! Came by for lunch and the Sara Bowl was fire - yummy egg noodles, grilled pork, and an egg roll with delicious pho broth on the side. I used to come here a while ago and it was really good. Since then, it seems like some of the recipes have changed and are not as tasty (in my opinion). The reason Im writing this review is because I found a large piece of chicken bone in my daughters vermicelli. Im not upset about it, but I just wanted to give my honest feedback on a place I used to enjoy. Some of the front desk staff were really snarky as well; I called in a pick up order and had no idea they didnt take cash until I got there ( it was all I had on me at the time). The girl got angry at me, snatched it from my hand and went to the back to make change. I know that doesnt describe everyone there, but this did happen.

I hate to give a sub-par review and I dont normally hand them out freely, but only if its deserved...so here goes. I have watched the reviews go up and down for this place (along with different management take-overs) since it opened, which btw, use to be one of my favorite places to eat since I LOVE soup ... so heres why it has now become a disappointment for me. Today I spent almost $24 for a kids chicken pho bowl (it comes with a small drink (cost $13 now), and honestly, I asked for extra chicken (an extra $4) because in the past the pho was lacking flavor and depth in the broth so I thought I could compensate. Today, it was less than a mediocre experience. The flavor of the broth was not what I hoped for and the chicken lacked flavor and was a bit grainy and tough. Not even the fresh basil, jalapenos and cilantro was its saving grace. The pluses? The young man behind the register couldnt have been any nicer, and the tea was good, but the food was really lacking and I dont want to pay over $21 for a small bowl of pho that doesnt tempt my taste buds. Sadly, I probably wont be back. I have really tried to be their champion, however at this time, I want to wish them the best.

Nice gem of cedar park, we had never tried phonatic before but we will definitely be back for more! Sebastian the gentleman tending the register was super helpful and informative he made the experience all that much better. He helped my girlfriend pick a dish and she got the sara bowl and in her words the dish was fire absolutely fire and I would have to agree with that. Definitely worth checking out!

Run!!! This place should be shutdown, they are serving RAW tendons. Read up the other reviews with people getting sick, its most likely because of this. Tendons are supposed to be cooked for hours. The only meat that should be raw is the thin sliced meat that gets cooked from the hot broth.

Skip this location. The quality and consistency at this location has consistently gone down over the past 4 years we ve been going there. Tonight, their spring rolls were less than half the size they usually are (2 bites each) and they were all ripped open. Tofu was completely burned on all 6 spring rolls. We paid for extra peanut sauce on 3 orders and received 2 half-filled small containers of sauce. It s a shame because the food was once a good option when quick takeout was needed, but I think this was the last straw for us. The Round Rock location does a much better job, so drive a little even if you re closer to this location.

This small chain around Austin is one of my favorite places to go to for pho. Its by all means no the cheapest but I really enjoy the pho. The portion size is pretty big and the good amount of options for different types of pho. They used to boil the noodles in a separate pot to keep it actually gluten free but I guess they decided it was too much trouble so they dont bother, but if you have issues with gluten it will make you VERY sick. I called to ask and they said they quit separate preparation months ago :( Update the menu as NOTHING gluten free so you stop making people sick.

Ordered the Pat s Plate via Uber eats. I bit into the egg roll that comes with Pats Plate and it was completely raw. I contact Uber Eats asking for a full refund since I was served raw pork. Phonatic refused to give me a full refund even though I had not one but THREE raw pork egg rolls in my order. One of which was within my main meal. I of course wanted nothing to do with the meal and didn t have dinner. Even my family stated they recently went to Phonatic and had a poor experience. Sadly we have all decided we will not return to any of your locations.

Giving 2 starts because they were fast and well packaged for delivery. But this is the worst banh mi I ve ever tried. The chicken was smoked instead of grilled as described. The vegetables are basically nonexistent. Never ordering from here again.

Food is great here! The only problem is is that we came in at 8:50 PM and the only could serve us to go instead of dining in. If a restaurant says theyre open till 9 PM it should serve the patrons till 9 PM, dining inside or to go. Or at least put it on the website or other doors that they only serve till a certain time dining in.

Mediocre food - pho had maybe 6 oz of broth and just bowl full of bland flavorless noodles with 2 oz of shredded chicken. Brooklyn bowl - meat was ice cold, shrimp were hot, flavourless sauce, not good at all. We came at 8:00 on a Tuesday. They close at 9:00. By 8:25 they had turned the music off, a started stacking chairs, and moving takes to sweep. I asked if they close at 8:30 and the employee said no, we close at 9, just a small staff so we start early . Forget if you have a if staff or not, it just means you stay later and get more hours. It felt very unwelcome and was not enjoyable on any level. Will not go back.

I was taken to the restaurant by my boyfriend who has been there before. I was really nervous to try this place. My boyfriend knew I liked ramen and said it was like Vietnamese ramen. I got the meatball Phö which I learned was pronounced Ph-uh. I somehow ended up eat the soup part. Oops. But I took the rest of my boyfriends broth and the rest to take home! The lady was super helpful and answered my question about what it was. If you have not been to the restaurant and you dont eat a lot I definitely would definitely recommend sharing a bowl. But it was amazing and all! Masks required until you sit down with your drink!
