This Taste of Chengdu hidden behind the Carrollions Ranch 99 Supermarket is a new hidden gem that my husband and I discovered last week! Although there is no gorgeous facade outside the restaurant to attract customers, the space after entering the restaurant is not small, which is a bit surprising. We ordered four: Dry Fried Pork Intestine, Sauteed Potato Egplant & Bell Pepper, Spicy Boiled Beef, and Preserved Egg With Spicy Pepper. The speed at which the dishes were served was incredible. Less than five minutes after dishes we ordered the dishes, they were served one after another, and they were steaming hot, filling the air with the food fragrant! Every dish is extremely delicious, the Dry Fried Pork Intestine is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the Preserved Egg With Spicy Pepper is super spicy and will definitely challenge your tongue! Sauteed Potato Egplant & Bell Pepper is sweet and juicy, and can provide you with enough fiber for two days. What surprised me the most was the Spicy Boiled Beef. I can guarantee that this is the best Sichuan-style boiled beef we have ever tasted. The beef is really soft, soft, tender and juicy, and its so fragrant and tender. I ate half a bowl of extra rice! This restaurant really has a very authentic Chengdu taste, and it sure matches up to its name, The food here are really phenomenally delicious! Highly recommend everyone to come here to dine, and we surely will come visit here again more often! 1st visit: 08/30/2024 (4 pics) 2nd visit: 09/05/2024 (5 pics) 3rd visit: 09/13/2024 (6pics) This Taste of Chengdu hidden behind the Carrollion Dahua Supermarket is a new treasure that my husband and I discovered last week! Just one last suggestion, maybe the front desk is too far away from the tables at the back of the restaurant! It may be difficult for the waitress to see us waving, asking for water, or waiting for a while when paying the bill. This needs some room for improvement. Thank you.

Love the food in this restaurant! Its the closest thing weve had to the food we enjoyed in Beijing. We got the dry pot lamb, the braised pork, stir-fried eggplant, and broccoli leaves. It was so much food we had to get 2 to-go boxes. Cant wait to go back!

The combination dry hot pot was AMAZING, had the perfect mix of meats & seafood with a great variety of veggies and mushroom, it was not like those places that give you 80% veggies and 20% meats it was a great dish. I only had an issue with the fish of the other dish (boiled fish Szechuan style) just because it was very difficult to eat with all the bones still great though if you can get past that (and the hefty $40 price for that dish). It was authentic and delicious.

The food was decent, but the service lacked common sense. First, our server scolded my kid for drinking from a glass of water, even though he was the one who served us water in glass cups to begin with. This startled my kid, making him feel as though he had done something wrong when he hadnt. The same server then forgot a dish we ordered for the kids, the dish came much later and by then the kids were already full from pancakes. When we asked for rice, he informed us that the dishes didnt come with rice. Despite this, we requested rice, and he seemed confused. Additionally, he placed a large bowl of hot soup at my three-year-olds elbow, despite there being plenty of safer space on the table. I immediately moved the hot soup to prevent a potential accident. Our water was never refilled unless we requested it, and the server seemed annoyed whenever we asked. Maybe our server is new to serving tables, but this was by far the worst services that I had in years. However, I don t think you need to be experienced to know to NOT PUT A LARGE BOWL OF HOT SOUP NEAR A CHILD. Please for the love of safety, educate this man.

2024 UPDATE: Came in this week after having moved away from the area, and were disappointed to see a completely new menu. The fish, which was probably our favorite thing, was either no longer on the menu or had gone up in price to a whopping $40! We didnt order the $40 fried fish because thats just an insane price for a single entree if thats what it was. Also, the green beens were very bland and just tasted salty (no spice). Finally, there is a vegetarian section of the menu, and we asked to confirm things were made with no meat, and the waiter said they are made with just a little bit of meat! Was really in the mood for Szechuan Chinese food and decided to try this place. Overall, we would definitely return. They get the balance of spice and flavor pretty right on. The portions are large and the prices fair. We had the Dry-pot style beef (B3), which is prepared with bell peppers and onions and is in a light chili oil, despite its name. The beef itself was a bit chewier than I wouldve liked, but the flavor of the dish was very good. We also had the Fried Fish Fillet with Red Chili Oil (F11), which was a delicate white fish battered in a nice light batter. Though the name says chili oil, it is not an oily dish, but rather a dry crispy fried fish with a nice chili flavor--more of a medium spicy, and less spicy than at some other places weve had the same dish. It was excellent. We also had the Dry Sauteed Green Beans (V9)--this usually comes with pork, but we elected to get it vegetarian, and they replace the pork with some sort of Szechuan vegetable that is in small pieces like you would have the minced pork, and it adds a salty, multi-dimensional flavor to the dish. They were delicious. The server was very conscientious about ensuring that we knew that what we saw in the dish she delivered was not minced meat as it may have first appeared, but rather this particular special vegetable (which doesnt seem to have an English name). While vegetable and tofu dishes in this cuisine often contain pork without it being listed, we appreciated how easy it was to ask questions about meat in various dishes and to be able to customize, making this a vegetarian-friendly restaurant for sure. The service was very good, and the server seemed willing to suggest popular dishes if you are a first timer to Szechuan cuisine. Dont bother with some of the classic non-Szechuan Chinese dishes on the menu--go for the traditional Szechuan dishes at this place and you wont be disappointed. We look forward to returning and trying some of the other dishes.

Food is really delicious and fair with portions. It wasn t busy at all on Sunday and food came out within minutes of ordering and it was hot and very well seasoned. The scallion pancakes were ok- a bit greasy but delicious with the chili oil. I really recommend the chongqing chicken. The male flavor from the sichuan peppercorns was insanely delicious. It pairs well with some rice and Chinese broccoli.

Their food is as good as any we have had in DFW. They have dozens of authentic Chinese dishes on the menu at fair prices. As a person who has lived in China for 20 years, I know what spicy chicken is. The spicy chicken is really over-fried. It s dry, the meat is small, and the crispy meat is not fried well. I thought it was called this in the United States. Fried dishes should not be too disappointing. I ordered three dishes from ubereat and only the boiled beef was delicious. I hope it can be improved!

Good place to have taste of sichuan without drivng all the way to north dallas. The taste is pretty close. The twice cooked pork had a nice smoky flavor. The mapo tofu had the right sauce consistency and the tofu did not lose the shape. Chonqking chicken was extermely fresh and crunchy coming from the hot oil and it was delightful to eat. Would go really well with a beer. The beef with pickeld vegetables was a surprise, given the amount of tender beef slices that came with it. Still kinda mad I had to pay for the bowl of rice. Came back a second time to get the special fish. It was expensive (anything market price is ) except when did tilapia become a luxury market price item.. Anyways for almost 40$, it was a disappointment. Fish was small and had very little meat on it. The texture was kinda off, a little mushy but it didnt taste fishy at least

When confronted about the online payment, they say they don t get payment through any online platform when in actual fact they already did. Have to call online platform on their behalf to cancel my order to get my money back. This restaurant does not know how to operate their own ordering platform and wanted to double charge customers. Pretty yummy but not spicy enough? As frequent eaters of Szechuan food, my husband and I were impressed by the portions and flavor, but wish each dish was much more spicy! Most of the other Szechuan restaurants Ive been to let you customize the spiciness of each dish, so we were surprised not to be asked our preference here. We ordered the beef in spicy sauce, boneless chicken fry, and spicy beef noodle soup. Our favorite was the beef in spicy sauce. The boneless chicken fry was also tasty but needed more spice and peppercorns. The beef slices in my spicy beef noodle soup were quite overcooked and tough to chew. We also found it weird that none of the spicy dishes come with rice, so those are added orders (only $1 a serving though). All in all, we enjoyed Taste of Chengdu for its flavors, big portions, and atmosphere. Parking: Park anywhere in a huge plaza parking lot.

The oil are floating out from the bowl like their every order, which make me nauseous every time when I finish their food. And there are no forks or spoon for a dish in $17. Follow up, I have upset stomach and heart burn after few bites of the dish. This is my 2nd order from this store and 1st order I feel nauseous and throw up. Best authentic Chinese food in north Dallas. I lived in China for 4 years and this is the closest to an actual Chinese food I ever had in us. Try their dry pots And I think they have some American-Chinese items on the menu. Service is great. There s always the same , she s always smiling too she s so nice, can someone give her a raise? Portion sizes are great. We usually get a couple different things and share it. Bonus points for location, there s Asian super market and some small businesses to wonder around after a good meal. Vegetarian options: Plenty of items on the menu are just veggies. Parking: There s plenty of parking spots outside, but it gets busy in the evenings.

The service, cleanliness, speed, and food presentation deserve 5 Stars. Everything else... The Wontons were the worst Ive ever had. They were dry and spongy. The Peking Duck was OK but served cold. The spring rolls were hot on the outside but almost frozen on the inside. Would I give them a second chance? Maybe. But I wouldnt hold my breath.

Ate here last night 6/19/2022 with my friend around 9PM and we just ordered dumplings. We both got the steamed buns and I ordered the Chengdu dumplings with hot chili sauce while he ordered crispy pork dumplings. When I took a bite of the Chengdu dumpling, IT WAS RAW INSIDE. I immediately had to spit it out. I showed it to our server that it was raw and all pink inside. I told the server that I was not paying for it since that was just wrong to serve to a customer and his tone when he asked me if I m just paying for the steamed buns only because the other one was served to me raw was definitely not appreciated. He sounded like I still should ve paid for it since I ordered it. Never even apologized for how embarrassing it is to serve a customer raw food. 6/20/2022 update: My friend just told me this morning that he got sick. Never coming back here again. I would rather go to MuLan Noodle and Grill next time. At least I know their food there is actually cooked and won t get you sick.

I ordered two vegetable entrees. The portions were disgustingly small. Had to stop somewhere else on the way home because I already knew it wasn t going to be enough food. The lady also didn t speak english which wouldn t necessarily be an issue for me normally, but she had a bag in front of me with my food, asked me a question which I didn t understand, and then while I was standing there confused, pulled food out of my bag, and then walked away after I paid and brushed me off. I have the smallest amount of food I ve ever had for this amount of money, and I don t even get rice with my entrees??? Awful.

The Chongqing spicy chicken was by for the worst dish I have ordered from a restaurant. The chicken was completely saturated with oil. I typically have a strong stomach for handling oily food and street food from several countries. However, this dish is the one that ruined me. I cant express how disappointing my experience was. Definitely wouldnt recommend this dish. Also, it wasnt even spicy

The dumplings was okay. Wish they served this first rather along with the meal. The lamb was good. The string beans was okay. They also have Peking Duck, I do not recall if they use a rice pancake or a steam bun. The steam bun holds up much better than the rice pancake. They also have something called Golden Bun. It s just basically a steam bun fried to create a crunchy shell.

my regular Chinese place was closed so I thought I would try Taste of Chengdu. I got combination fried rice, a staple among Chinese restaurants. steak, chicken and shrimp.... it only had 2 shrimp, the chicken looked like it was barely cooked, and the rice wasnt fried, it was white rice. The spring rolls were ok, but had a layer of fat or breading in the inside that wasnt cooked all the way. im sure they have their regular customers, but I wont be one.
