12/25/22: We moved in 3 years ago this week. 26 warranty items, a new door not covered under warranty ($5k to replace) within the first year and STILL dealing with plumbing issues (this is the 5th time to have to call a plumber - so far, several thousand out of pocket) on Christmas Day. I hate this house. Its too bad, too - the house is beautiful inside and out. Too many issues though to really enjoy it. Update for owner: Thanks for the reply. The first two plumbers were assigned by Windmiller to do the repairs while still under warranty. One involved tearing up my entire front yard. When they put my flower beds back, they didnt replace the weed barrier ($500 expense for me). See pic below. The plumbing problems still exist and we were told by two separate plumbers since that the piping under the toilet and foundation was to blame. It appears there are extra turns and a coupler in one spot narrowing a 3 inch opening to a 2 inch one, causing recurring clogging issues. This is for one of my 3 toilets. The other two work perfectly. Also, I didnt mention above about the failed HVAC unit. First, a bad evaporator (last year) with low refrigerant levels. Then a month ago, bad thermostats, a bad reverse valve, TXV valve, compressor and heat pump. In addition, the safety switch was not installed properly. While the HVAC warranty covered the big stuff, Ive had to pay over $2k in labor, refrigerant and for new thermostats out of pocket. Update #2: as of 5/17/23, no one has contacted me. My plumbing issues persist, and the master bathroom toilet is completely unusable. Update #3: 7/5/2023: stopped-up toilet in the master, again. Most likely due to the piping under the floor, as mentioned above. Keep in mind, this only affects one toilet- the master. Likely another $200 out of my pocket to get it unclogged. For the past 6 months, this toilet has been used sparingly. The plumber came by and said there is a weirdly sized bushing causing the clogs that would have been missed by an inspector. Regular service visits will be required for the unforeseeable future, where they will have to take out the toilet each time. That is, unless I want to have someone jackhammer my master bedroom floor or dig underneath the house under our bedroom to permanently fix it. Update #4: 11/14/23: AC failed again. No cold air blowing in the house. This time, the condenser motor failed and main drain pan overflowed into the emergency pan, causing my emergency pan to rapidly rust. The insulation inside the air handler was soaked, causing a complete mess, not to mention possible bacterial growth. AC company is recommending a full replacement. Were not sure what the cause is, but Ill update again when that gets settled. Update #5: November 2023: air handler was installed improperly (wasnt level) and had a cracked drain pan. Improper installation not covered under mfr warranty. Also, mfr does not do full replacement under warranty for builder grade units, only residential grade units. Water buildup inside the unit caused mold and rust. Water dripping into the emergency pan caused it to rust. Entire unit replaced - $7000.

I searched for months for the perfect home, and all I can say is that nothing compared to the Windmiller product I found. The home is well-built, well-insulated and the finish outs were the cherry on top that sold me. The details in the kitchen, the lighting and the design are perfection. I m 2 years in and have had minimal issues. All in all, I couldn t be happier with my choice.

Update* Windmiller has stopped responding. We caught the builder in a massive coverup. We reviewed our contract, our engineers plan and found they did not use EXTERIOR grade lumber and engineered and thus the failure. $30k balcony collapse...to fix. I hope that I can remove this review soon and that Tim Windmiller will consider the benefits of warranty protection. Our balcony is falling off our Windmiller home. Photo attached. While he communicates, we are going on 16 months later since this balcony issue started and its still not fixed. He is trying to have us pay for this. Crazy! If indeed he resolves we will update this post accordingly.

Its been over a year now settling into our new home and wanted to share our experience. The main reason we chose Windmiller Custom Homes over the other builders at first was because their ability to customize certain things where the other builders wouldnt allow it. I agree with Jared on how some recommendations that Windmiller provided made a huge difference since this was our first time building. Justin made the entire process unstressful by simply being there for us. Windmiller has a detailed process that we were taken through. Just like with dealing with any other company, they have a set processes and procedures to follow, which made it easier to vision the final home. There were maybe 2 curve balls that were thrown during the building process, but Justin made it easy to deal with. Building a home is Teamwork, its a partnership between us and Windmiller. In looking through some of the reviews, I wanted to clear up any misconceptions about building with Windmiller Custom Homes. We chose the Verona floor plan and was able to customize the home to suit our needs understanding that as it had not been built before, there were bound to be some unknowns. Justin, our Sales Manager, helped us along the way and gave us the best estimates possible until our plans were drawn and final pricing could be set. Building a home is always a process but Justin helped us navigate through - especially if there were changes we wanted to make. We realized from the beginning that there are guidelines and procedures in place that had to be followed. That being said, I m very happy that we decided to build with Windmiller Custom Homes and Justin! We love our home and highly recommend working with them!

My wife and I just moved into our new home built by Windmiller and absolutely love it! We started the process about a year ago and although it took longer than we anticipated, everything turned out amazing. Throughout the process, we worked with Jason, Amira, Ashley, and Jimmy. Jason provided a lot of insightful recommendations for our low voltage system and there are some things we never would have thought to add which we are very glad we did now that we are in our home. Amira and Ashley guided us through the design center and made an overwhelming process much easier to manage with all the options they have available. Looking back, it s really nice they break it up into two days because it gives you time to think about things overnight and make changes that second day. There were a few huge changes we made the second day and are very glad we did. We couldn t be happier with the color palette and design choices and how it all came together in the final product. Jimmy worked with us a lot during the final building stages and kept us updated and reached out with any questions that came up. He really went out of his way to make sure to address any concerns or questions we had. In addition, he made some great recommendations we never would have thought of, such as widening the driveway several feet. Such a simple (and affordable) change that makes a huge difference. As this is a new construction build, I m sure issues will pop up along the way that need to be fixed but we are confident the Windmiller crew will take care of them as needed. Thank you to everyone at Windmiller who helped us build our dream home!

Beware! We have visited with Windmiller Custom Homes several times in the Viridian community and the sales rep. (Justin) provided us with different prices for various things we were inquiring about and he could not explain their home build process very well. He was not very knowledgeable or clear on things. We also asked about the bad reviews and he told us the builder has changed the way they conduct business, but we didnt believe it based off our experiences with them. Recommend staying away.

We had an excellent building experience with Windmiller Homes at Thomas Crossing. The model home and selection center are beautiful and inspiring. We were able to see our dream home come to fruition without blowing the budget. Jason worked with us to customize our floorpan to function perfectly for our family. We love our home.

Wow! I went out to see Windmiller Homes in the Viridian today. The model was so beautiful I had to do a Facebook live. Justin Pitts did an amazing job of going through the features of the home. Truly a custom builder. If you have a vision of what your next home will be Justin will make that dream a reality. As a Realtor I highly recommend Justin and Windmiller Homes

Update 2/2018: were there warranty issues? yes. BUT they have eventually all been resolved ... weve had a few open conversations with Tim Windmiller himself and he has gone out of his way to address issues personally. Historically, there have been some customer service issues, but he is aware of them and is available to his homeowners to address major concerns. It is rare to have the actual builder evaluate concerns and address them, post closing. He is quite reasonable and down to earth and truly wants to provide the best product to his customers. Youre paying a custom home price with parking lot labor and workmanship. I would say that the workmanship and pride that Windmiller brags about is a farce; we had multiple contractors fired during the building of our home. Unfortunately, we did not get the quality product we expected. We love our home design, but the warranty process has been a nightmare to get all of the mistakes and screw ups fixed. Overall, Ive been more disappointed than pleased.

WARNING! Updated review as of 2018. 4 years post construction, dealing with MOLD now after health issues and terrible smell. Unbelievable. Builder subs did not properly caulk chimney. Windmiller hired now wont fix. Filing with homeowners insurance and looking at legal options. 2017-I am in the commercial real estate business and understand development. The pre and purchase process was as expected. I agree with Jeff, the post warranty is of concern. Very slow, matter of fact I still 3 years later have a paint issue they never came back to resolve even after Tim Windmiller has promised. In addition, at my 2 year mark, my tall windows in Great Room have a seal issue and a haze is between the glass. The 10 yr window warranty means we get to pay $100 per window to replace, great! A new home and 6 windows I get to replace in just 2 years. Nice, not! The build had many struggles with a combative supervisor that didnt watch the progress and ended up re-doing several things. Owner, however struggles post build have to be addressed and if faulty materials, should be cautious on the warranty coverage and out of pocket costs.

They make a beautiful product but dont stand behind their work. We have had 20 warranty claims since moving into our Windmiller home. The number doesnt alarm me as we have built before and there are always warranty issues. The company has been slow to address those issues. For some we are now in our 5th month of waiting for work to be completed. While the product (home) is beautiful, the service after the sale is the worst of the four builders we have had build homes for us. I would highly discourage you from purchasing a home from them. Our neighbors that built with another builder in the same neighborhood are having their warranty issues resolved within days or a couple weeks. I have over a dozen emails to the company and reassurances from one of the owners that they are addressing the issues. At the current rate my remaining warranty issues may be completed by sometime in 2017 over two years from the time we built.
