I am from NYC, some of the best international cuisine in the world and i can say with confidence that Ive eaten the best French toast here in Jolie Petite Brownsville, Texas. (Apple Crisp French Toast is from the seasonal menu) moist inside and crisp outsides, all the food is second to none. Great service, tall ceiling, fine brunchin atmosphere in a southern Texas preserved building, with southern Texas love. Dont forget the top class deserts, its their specialty. Definitely coming back when around town.

Let me say I was impressed! From the moment I walked in it was so beautiful and the music was a live saxophone making everything so welcoming and chic. LOVE that they have a Fall Menu! wow! I orderd pumpkin pancakes with Pumpkin Espresso Martini. The combination was a bite of fall. Going back for sure. The waiters should know the number of each table because they would bring food that we didnt order and they should buy another Coffe Brewer because we waited so much for the coffee to come. Overall restrooms cleaned and everything very nice and modern! in love! thank you!

As two other reviewers have mentioned the lemon ricotta pancakes are to die for. The croque madame was quite different from the one at bohmia in mcallen. This one was a bit sweet (the other is not) the cheese was also softer in flavor, and this sauce tasted a bit like white gravy. I do love white gravy and enjoyed the dish. The coffee took a long time to arrive and tasted burnt and also like they had much way too much grounds. I would have liked some lemon and sugar to be automatically offered with my tea. Almond croissant was solid, its not ur typical soft croissants and tasted a bit like pan dulce bc it tasted like it had sugar glaze. I will be back for the pancakes. Back again. My sis and i loved the quiche with goat cheese and arugula to die for. My dad got the smoked salmon benedicts and we thought they were quite good too. I have updated them to 5 stars Coffee is only okay, latte barely tasted like coffee.

Our waiters were incredibly friendly and attentive, checking in just the right amount not in an intrusive way, but enough to make sure we were well taken care of (with a smile!). The atmosphere was charming and cozy, making it a great spot to relax. And the food? Delicious! Definitely the best place to visit for brunch, especially if youre craving a good mimosa.

This place is really cute and the food is great for a non-gluten-free person, BUT, the owner and Chef REALLY need to educate their staff on what it contains gluten and what does not, and how to serve gluten-free food. Yesterday, I brought my mom and sister who were visiting town, that are diagnosed with Celiac disease. Consuming gluten can have detrimental effects on someone with this disease. I notified the restaurant in advance that I was bringing gluten-free guests and to confirm if they have menu items that my family could eat, which they did confirm. The staff demonstrated to us multiple times that they did not know what gluten-free meant. My sister got sick an hour after she left the restaurant, as well. It was a disappointing experience, overall. I hope in the future, they can better prepare and serve food to accommodate guests with food allergies. Dietary restrictions: They are unfortunately not gluten-friendly

Ill start by saying that the interior of this place is divine, to say the least. The music in the background has a very jazzy vibe and its just very relaxing, as well as the sight of such exquisite aesthetic, which was my favourite part about Jolie Petite. I went on Friday for brunch with my mother and sister to celebrate my birthday, also in the seek of something new. John was our waiter then, who, I must mention, happened to be lovely and did a splendid job at making our experience even better. He also complimented my outfit, which adds points to the equation. However, my issue was with the food, and this is the reason as to why Im not giving it five stars. Surely it isnt rancid or inedible, I quite enjoyed my plate but the food it isnt up to the place and the image that its trying to portray. The plates looked rather basic and with a lack of that sparkle that would make the place definitely stand out, besides being too overpriced. I am willing to pay anything for good food, truly, but this wasnt it, and according to other reviews, it isnt only me who thinks that. Focusing more on the plates and their presentation will make a difference if you guys want to step up. Best of luck. A costumer.

The atmosphere and service are superb, but the food could have been better, and the prices are far too high. The onion soup was a small cup for $12. The creme brulee was so tiny. The French Benedict was really good, but cold. The best part of the whole thing was the latte. We really liked the majority of our experience but unfortunately we wont be going back.

I went to celebrate my birthday and my experience was terrible (I ordered a tasteless smash toast). We also ordered a plate of fruit, the papaya was super watery, the watermelon was flavored with perfume or some artificial aroma and the pineapple was from a can. The service left a lot to be desired, I would not recommend it. I spent over $50 just for me and they still added $15 more for bringing my cake. Take into account that I had a reservation of more than 10 people and that each one consumed at least 40 dollars. Yes, it is a very nice place inside but it is way overpriced for what they offer.

I do not recommend this place at all. I had visited this place in three occasions and I was very disappointed with the food, drinks and desserts in all three. I am sad to be writing this review but I hope it can help the owner to make the necessary changes for people not to get disappointed in the future. The first time I visited this place was during the opening, the service was great, however the latte and chicken salad crossing had very bad taste. My mom and I ordered a regular latte as we typically do anywhere, but the flavor was just off and ugly. The croissant was hard and difficult to eat and the chicken salad did not even had chicken, it was literally big pieces of apple. Since it was the opening, and I believe in second chances. I decided to give it a second try and I went to celebrate my sister s birthday. This time the service was horrible, they kept on bringing the wrong order and servers seemed lost and disorganized. The food again disappointed me. My sister ordered a fruit tray and the fruit was horrible, you could not even eat it. My eggs Benedict were okay, but the bread was very hard again and it was very challenging to cut it with the knife and even more to eat it. Everyone in my table was having the same issues. And the coffee,, horrible again. Also, a server started cleaning a table behind ours and the smell of the towel she was using to clean was so horrible that I even got nauseous and lost my appetite. After this time I decided I wasn t going to eat again there. However, I thought I would give the place a last chance since I had heard that desserts were good and the first to time I was there they did not have any since they had ran out. So I went one third time with the hope that they were going to be amazing. To my surprise,, the were worst :( this really broke my heart. My friend and I ordered 3 pastries, one tea and one cappuccino. The drinks were horrible and we could not even drink them. Im not sure if the server noticed it since she came and offered us water. The pastries were sooo bad, and so hard. The bread was extremely hard that we could not cut it with the knife and not even with our hands. The flavor was horrible too,, the pistachio croissant tasted like bacon and was the hardest one, the cookie croissant was extremely sweet and the hazelnut pastry had a very disgusting flavor and texture. We ended up paying $47 for 3 pastries and 2 drinks that we did not even drink nor eat. We literally just tasted it and could not continue eating it. At this point I will never go back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. I wish the place success and I hope my honest review can help to make the necessary changes to add value and quality to the food, drinks and pastries. People deserve good quality food for the price they pay. Your prices are seriously ridiculous for the RGV. -3 Stars

The food, ambience and cocktails were great! Unfortunately during our entire Sunday brunch 8/25/2024 we had to endure the screams of an unruly toddler sitting in the restaurant with his mother and a large group of women celebrating a special occasion. Management should have intervened and asked the mother to take the toddler outside. Instead, everyone in the restaurant was forced to sit through brunch with a screaming toddler. Not acceptable. Also. We had the excellent biscuits to go without butter or raspberry jam added to our to go box :(

I was very excited to try this place. The atmosphere was inviting. Our server was knowledgeable and our drinks were aromatic and delightful. As it came down closer to closing time we were half way done with our meal and all the servers began to take tables out and one of them started sweeping in front of us. It ruined our appetite, for the price they charge you would think they would be courteous and allow us to finish.

Love the food and omg! my server James always on top! Paola like always is super nice. The staff was correctly chosen they never disappoint and are available for all your needs. The RR are in pristine condition. The only thing is that they change my avocado toast for smash avocado and I don t like it that way, but the desserts are from heaven! This was our 2nd visit as we really enjoyed our previous visit but this time there were a few things that we didn t enjoy. First of all we were there for under one hour and the waiter and another staff came by your table at least five times seeing if everything was going well. We found it quite annoying being disturbed quite so often. The roulette croissant was tasty just a tad hard due to the syrup. We tried the croque monsier and didn t love it, would have preferred a sourdough option and the Gruyère on top with the mornay sauce in the middle but the ham was tasty as for the cannelle it was slightly charred. The butterfly pea flower lemonade and cappuccino were perfect though.

I m so upset that I gave into the hype. The service was horrible. They do not have enough staff to serve and wait people. It took 25 mins for us to even get water. We had to ask 4 different times for refills. They took our utensils with the plates and since we had ordered dessert we asked for more. Well they never brought the utensils so I had to get them from a nearby table. It was $22 for a burger? The flavor was ok nothing extraordinary that would merit that price. I ordered a cappuccino and that was good. The dessert we ordered was $8 and it was the size of a cupcake. Again, the flavor was just not there. I am willing to pay for GOOD FOOD, but this was not it. The restaurant itself is very modern and nice. The food mediocre and the service was horrible. I would not recommend this place to any friends or family.

The price is high for the ingredients and quality of the meals. I dont know if its every day, but on Saturday they play live saxophone music, so loud that you cant talk without shouting. I dont think its really worth it. I ordered the bread with avocado and salmon and it was very simple. The cappuccino coffee is one more in the valley and the dessert is the only thing that could be redeemable. Per person the expense is $40 to $45 dlls. I only mention the excellent service from the waiter Joe who was 100% attentive the entire time.

My wife and I recently went to Jolie Petite to have brunch. $80 for two pastries, two plates, and one tea. Unfortunately, we were severely disappointed with the food and service and wished we had gone elsewhere. The pain au chocolate was too dense, rubbery, and you can tell it wasn t baked the same day. We struggled using the knife to cut it in half. Same for the almond croissant, did not taste fresh, though it had better flavor. The duck leg quarter and waffle was a huge disappointment. The duck was on the verge of being burnt, had no flavor, and the meat was so dry that it was inedible. The waffle lacked flavor and was rubbery and hard to cut into. We wasted $24 on it because we picked at it for a few bites and left 95% on the plate as we couldn t eat it. The crab cake eggs benedict was ok and we were at least able to split that dish. Our server left our water glasses empty for most of our visit. We brought up being dissatisfied with the $24 dish we didn t eat because it was hardly edible and the management did not bother to make things right. They just gave us an old looking pastry to make up for it . The restaurant is trying to offer too much and it would serve them well to focus on a simpler menu. We really wanted to like this restaurant because the building and ambiance is great. We won t return here.

Our experience was okay. I think the place is overrated. Ive been to other brunch places with better food quality and prices. Also, the tap water tasted horrible. Most downtown places have their own potable water treatment to avoid that flavor. The breakfast tasted ordinary, and our bill for two people came to almost $100.

We attended the Summer in Paris event today. Lots of vendors set up on the patio live saxaphone music added to the atmosphere it was fun. We had specialty drinks inside. It would be nice for the menus focal point to be in English such as the titles of the sections it just easier to read what we d like to order. Excellent service, very cute spot for a nice brunch with girlfriends or celebrating mom or sisters birthday. Food was good, though I think the pancakes might eventually be overwhelming to your pallet. Coffee was good and they had the option to provide steamed almond milk if you have a dairy free diet to follow. My mom went to this restaurant, and the bread was so hard, that she punctured the roof of her mouth and it created a blood clot. Initially, she called me in a panic thinking she was having an allergic reaction. We rushed her to see her physician, and luckily, it was not allergy related. She ended up puncturing the roof of her mouth so bad that it clotted and wouldn t stop bleeding once the clot burst open. Management and the owner were completely unhelpful and inconsiderate about the situation, stating there was nothing they could do when my mom simply asked for a refund for her meal that sent her to the hospital. Finally, they offered her the option to come talk to the owner in person, but to bring a doctor s note . Seriously? It s one thing to have bad food, but bad service is completely unacceptable. We do not recommend this restaurant. Update post owner s response: it wasn t until we let the owner know we were going to share an unfavorable review that she decided to give a partial refund for the meal. While my mom was in distress, not one staff member came to assist or ensure her safety. This is not a false accusation. Her PCP is part of the hospital system. This was a traumatic experience for my family. Additionally, her elderly friend dining with her was unable to consume her croissant because it was so hard on the bottom. Small business or not, take better care of your customers. If you re going to overcharge for a meal, ensure it is edible.

We celebrated our anniversary breakfast; ordered a quiche, egg omelet, cappuccino, strawberry lemonade, and the French kiss drink that comes with the lock poem. The taste of the quiche was delicious and moist. Omelet eggs were soft on the inside and completely cooked on the outside, as I requested. The lemonade was a little too sweet for me, cappuccino was good and the French kiss was strong but good. We were given a sharpie to write on the lock then we placed it on the wired heart on the wall at the end of our meal. We loved it!

I heard a lot of things of this place so I wanted to give it a try. I went in and I wanted the almond croissant. I saw what was labeled as an almond croissant and it seemed off since usually they are topped off with almonds and this one wasn t. The girls asked me what I wanted and I said the almond croissant of course. I also got a pistachio pastry. I was paying in cash and somehow it took them around 5 min or more to give me back my change. I literally spent around 20 minutes in that place just trying to get these two pastries that I did not hesitate on choosing. It should ve been a quick in and out thing but it took a while. Also, once I tried my croissant, I knew this wasn t an almond one immediately. I don t know why they didn t correct me and why they still charged me for an almond one knowing it was just a regular one. I m assuming they didn t know either, but I mean they should know. Overall taste was eh okay. It wasn t worth so much the hype. Will i try their food next time? Maybe but in another time maybe when they re more settled in.

I was very excited to try this new place but was very disappointed. Place it s beautiful but food is overpriced with no taste. I ordered the omelette for $18 with a side of arugula salad, which had nothing else to balance the bitterness. Omelette was not very presentable. $17 for an avocado toast, which the avocado was black, no pesto sauce and overloaded with arugula! Not mixed salad as mentioned on the menu. $28 for steak and fries, the steak was very thin! (Get a good steak at Roadhouse or Longhorn) The worst we saw at the end when a worker brought out the overload trash can of leftover food and passed by our table. Trash was taken out through the front door. I was only pleased with the waitress, she gave us very good service and apologized for such horrible food. I really really wanted to love this place, unfortunately I would never go back.

All three of us order the quiche Lorraine. The crust was so tough that it could not be cut with the butter knife provided. Asked for a steak knife and even with a steak knife the crust was difficult to cut. The filling was very thin with not much flavor. The arugula salad on the plate had no flavor whatsoever. So I visited Jolie Petite and had their chicken salad croissant, jasmine tea and their pistachio tart!! The chicken salad croissant was delish, the bread was soooooo good. The staff told us it took them 3 days to bake that croissant, so that tells you something! Buttery layers of bread goodness. Then the chicken salad was the perfect balance of chicken and dressing( I hate chicken salad with too much mayo, this one was perfect). This plate came with an arugula salad, idk what the dressing had but it was so fresh and paired great! For dessert I had the pistachio tart oh my goodness, that was my favorite part TBH! I don t even know how to describe it! The cookie was not to overly sweet and the cream in the middle felt so decadent. Service was not attentive at all, there was maybe four tables when wife and I went. There must have been at least 7 waitstaff/bar staff on the floor and was still hard to get anyones attention. Had to get out of my seat at one point for glass of water, which they dont serve unless you ask for it. DO NOT order the raclette on baguette! Baguette is store bought, Vie de France from Sysco if I had to guess, but when it was brought out to the table it was steamy and chewy with zero caramelization (brown) on it. I asked server if they could toast it some more for me he took it to the kitchen and put it in the microwave and brought it back out! That is not acceptable when you are paying $24 for bread with cheese and prosciutto! None of the food was brought out with any salt, and there was no salt shakers on the table. Asked for a sunny side up egg on my croque madame and they brought out an over hard egg, when asked them to fix it they sent and over easy egg. The French menu had lemon ricotta crepes on them and they sent out blue berry pan cakes. I checked menu and the English version did say pancakes, so my bad for reading the their poor French translation I guess. Breakfast for three, their was only two of us but we ordered enough food for three, because I wanted to taste a bit of everything was $120 plus tip. I actually went into this place very excited but instead left disappointed, frustrated and still a little hungry. Bottom line is this, Brownsville really needs new restaurant concepts, with more variety to offer this great city that is growing at a very fast pace. However over priced, poorly run/trained staff is not that. Some people may say I am being overly picky but I am a firm believer in you (should) get what you pay for, and the prices they are charging are NOT worth what they are charging.

Bien Merite in Corpus Christi has better flavors than this place. I was so disappointed in the restaurant, especially when they said didn t have any regular croissants ready at 8:30 in the morning. What do you mean you re not going to have croissants when you open at 8am? The lack of preparation is astounding. My pancakes had some burnt parts to them. And when I checked the other croissants at the front, which they only had almond and cookie croissants, they ALL were burnt. If you ve ever been to a real French restaurant in France, then you d know that croissants are not burnt and their food is spectacular. Not this place, I had been excited to try this place and it is very nice inside, but the aesthetics need to match the food as well. The server was very kind but she didn t offer any thing in regards to our distaste in the burnt croissant.

I recently dined at a local place in Brownsville and wanted to share my experience. We made reservations two weeks in advance, which was convenient. However, upon arrival, when we requested a different seating area, the response wasnt as professional as expected. As we settled in, the service from our waitress was lacking. She didnt explain the menu or inquire if it was our first visit, which Ive experienced even at casual dining places like Texas Roadhouse. It seemed like she might have been overwhelmed. Moving on to the food, it wasnt the worst Ive had! We tried some pastries, which were just okay. On the positive side, the ambiance and music were enjoyable. Overall, while the place has potential, especially considering Brownsville deserves good dining options, the food and service need improvement to match the prices.

If you re looking for a cute place where you get hot fancy French plates in under 15 min!!!!!! This is the place to be I loved how beautiful the restaurant is. Everything looks amazing but once you try the food and pastries for dessert it will win your heart the service was amazing my server Jezebel really made the experience and recommended the Quice Lorraine and the almond croissant was just the right choice for me. I can t wait to pay them a visit again to try more!!!
