The Black Bear Dinner What a bear! First things first. If you ask me if I would return, maybe not, although Im willing to give it a second try to get a better opinion. Place. It is definitely an attractive place, reflecting the Californian countryside and forest atmosphere. The bear as an image and mascot and its multiple references throughout the place seem like the best to me, the posts with carved images and the decoration in general are pleasant. I was definitely looking forward to trying this place. According to it, it originates in California and is present in about 15 States, the closest to my area being Brownsville, McAllen and Laredo. Meal. Now, the IMPORTANT thing. In a restaurant the important thing is the food... I went for breakfast, and my order was: - Coffee - California Omelette (Avocado, mushroom & jack cheese) - Hashbrown Excellent that the dishes have calorie counts, well see why... Service. The service was very good, our waiter was very attentive and helpful, he was very attentive to our needs and requests. Coffee was served once we ordered it. The dishes arrived in a reasonable time. I am a vegetarian, I can say that there are options in this place. Conclusion. The food is definitely not bad, but it is very standard , the carbohydrate portions are too large and the protein portions disproportionately smaller, in my opinion. The biscuit, for example, is a cube measuring about 3.5 X3.5 inches (8.5X8.5 cm), with too much mass and weight, which makes it difficult to handle and eat comfortably. The quantity of avocado is minimal, and the quality is a little poor since it was black in some parts. The hashbriwn, for my taste, was very toasted and separated, so much so that I couldnt pierce it with the fork. The omelet, while not bad, was nothing to say wow! What I did like. The place is nice, The coffee cups, The menu on newspaper in the shape of a newspaper, In conclusion. The food is very average. I think there are tastier places for the same money. ---Please let me know if it was helpful to you. Thank you! Note. Im not a food guru, restaurants or anything like that. I am just my opinion based on my tastes, preferences, customs and needs.

Been with my family 3 times and all the visits have been wonderful. The food is super good quality the coffee is one of the best Ive had at a restaurant diner. The service today by our server Alexis and the manager Chris was great they were very attentive with all the family including our toddler. I love this restaurant and we will be continuing to dine here as it does not disappoint.

It was our first time at this restaurant because we wanted to try something new! When we first walked in, there was cute bears everywhere and lots of decorations! Very cute. There is also a mini store in the front. We were greeted by Kory and service was decent/good until we told her it was our first time here. She told us deals and what days kids eat free and was helping us for next time (tuesdays kids eat free all day btw!) And even gave the us stickers at the end! I came into the restaurant in an alright mood and walked out with a great mood! Thank you Kory for serving us today Amazing service shes so sweet! Theres a lot of food options to choose from! Great choice of menu, gives a great experience. If you have kids, this would be a great choice to choose from.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. After a short wait, our party of 6 was seated in a booth but was given the option of a round table. Everyone placed their order and waited a reasonable amount of time for fresh food. Everything looked good; one order was incorrect, but was made right with no issues. All plates were delicious and satisfying. On the way out, I spotted something interesting looking & asked the guest-- it was a cornbread muffin. Now we have to go back!

I ordered the pot roast; meat was good, had very little gravy, vegetables were not soft as you would expect with pot roast, they were hard. My husband ordered the chicken friend steak, it was cooked good, yet it lacked in gravy, and something was off. His sweet tea was awful. Then we saw another table being served tea and their tea looked better. He got another refill but tasted just as bad. The cornbread muffin tasted fishy. Kids meals were good. Overall, the quality is lacking for the price.

First time trying Black Bear Diner. The best way to describe it would be like a mix of Dennys and Cracker Barrel. They have a lot of options on the menu, and they serve breakfast all day. I had the western burger, which had bbq sauce, cheddar cheese, and onion rings, and it came with fries. It was pretty goodand the portion was very generous. My wife had the 2x2x2. Two eggs, two bacon, and two French toast. It was also pretty good. My son had the Bigfoot, which is a chicken fried steak. It was another large portion. Everything was good, but nothing was exceptional. I would go back but not on the top of my list of places I would choose. However, they did have these delicious little pies. I had a chocolate creme pie that was enough for two people to share. They had several other options I look forward to trying. The store was clean and the staff was friendly so that is a bonus.

Had a great breakfast today. Waitress was very helpful and extra gravy was free and you got plenty, unlike Ihop which charges per ounce. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cinnamon roll french toast is awesome. Update... Food is still good, but the service is lacking. We got the feeling that the dishwasher was waiting tables. Hope it gets better. It s ok. One thing is for certain. This is not a steak house. With that being said the steak was pretty bad. It was edible but nothing you would say was delicious or even close to that. There s mold on 1/3 of the vents and tiles in the restaurant. Brought to managements attention and her response was we know and we can t really fix it, just get new tiles. They should ve had new tiles a long time ago!!! The service was mediocre at beast. Food quality has went downhill since it opened. I won t be going back after this visit.

Celebrated my BDay here.Their waiter was very courteous and friendly. Any thing you order is great. Waiting time was reasonable. Biscuits are huge bigger than my hand. Fresh coffee , they made another pot of coffee as we loved it so much . Very clean environment.Id give it 10 Stars , if I could ! Kid-friendliness: Waiter actually talked to the 5 kids . Crayons and and pictures were provided to keep them entertained. Waiter also was aware to when children had finished and offered all of them a dessert.

The spoons were absolutely dirty they had some brown and sticky substance when I had opened up the utensils the biscuit had some weird red stuff all over it and the food took forever and there were multiple plates of food in the back waiting there and there were like 7-10 workers there and they werent doing anything the food was also cold when it arrived overall this place wasnt the best
