Stan took care of us. He was charming, attentive and smooth with the pour. The champagne he recommended was delicious and now my new favorite. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed and subdued, like it should be on a Tuesday evening. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

i have been so lenient, but you ve messed with my livelihood at this point. words can t even express how horrible ive been treated. i got hired END OF MAY at this place with an official start date of June 24th. i put my notice at my job (more than two weeks) because im thinking i had another job lined up. i called and spoke with Martin (chef) about a week and a half prior to my start date to just clarify information - well the manager who originally hired me had an emergency (that was completely understandable) and would be out for a long time. so no one there had information i was hired and he d get back to me. I had to call again to follow up with him getting back to me. Eventually, I had a meet up in person with Malon (Tuesday (June 18th) before i was originally supposed to start that upcoming Monday, the 24th) confirming information and that HE would get back to me over the weekend about a start date. He said I would probably be starting just later that week. already annoyed but thinking ok maybe i will just start the 26, 28th. i got his number (even though he seemed hesitate) and followed up with him that Monday (24th) since i received no communication, hi just checking in to see if you have further information NO RESPONSE. ever to this day. i called the restaurant multiple times and talked with Martin again who gave me the complete run around. I was so patient in between my calls. Thursday, June 27th Martin mentioned he was in communication with the manager at the domain and I was supposed to train there and he d get information to me. I had to clarify multiple times on the phone can I expect a call tonight to which he replied yes I ll call you tonight I m headed to the domain now to talk with the manager - NO CALL. STILL. It s now a week since I quit my job thinking I had another job lined up with NO COMMUNICATION from this place about ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. I m so furious and think this is the biggest joke. You ve messed with my LIVELIHOOD at this point and can t even receive a phone call about ANYTHING. i don t want to work for a company like this so don t bother calling me AT ALL. i even called the domain location multiple times but can t get through to a manager. now im out a job because the people I spoke to wanted to play hot potato with who had the responsibilities it seems. be at least a decent human being and learn to communicate or if it wasn t your responsibility point me in the direction of who I should ve been in communication with. Don t say you ll call and never do about a job I was hired for and quit my job for.

Cru is a chain, but hey--if you like wine, they always have a variety of REAL options. This location was empty at 1130am but onside the vibe was grwat--good music--clubbin it a bit but tasteful--Zhu--Savannah was bartendin and recommended a great Tempranillo--service is excellent here, and everyone is friendly. Everything is decked out for Xmas. Honestly, this is a missed brunch spot because apparently people think of Cru as an evening spot. Patio out front looks inviting enough, though 69 degrees is a little chill 4 me. I really enjoyed ownimg the place for 30 early morning--the blanc de blanc grand cru was actuallybwhat I started with be4 my shift to Spain. This place is worth a visit again!

This dark little cubby hole filled with silky smooth lighting and the aromatic scents wafting about from the kitchen was the perfect retreat from sweltering dusk of midsummer in Austin. Our waitress Brittany was professional and personable, catering to our whims and dietary restrictions as if we were guest in her own home. The flights of wine are simply a must do when you visit and what better pairing to wine than a charcuterie board. (Your welcome) The only blemish of the evening was an over cooked fish but the entire incident was smoothed over so elegantly by the delightful Brittany that I hardly remember it even happening. I whole heartedly recommend evolving your tastebuds in this gem of an establishment.

Food and wine was good however our waiter was possibly the rudest I have ever encountered. He would not listen to our order and would walk off even after asking him to repeat the order then repeatedly bought out incorrect wine and the snapped at us when we pointed out it was incorrect. Even after he tried to correct our order he still got it wrong then repeated to eye roll, almost hit us with the menu as he snapped it off our table then Slapped down the bill. It s a shame a good venue ruined by one waiter. Only three of us, ordered glasses of wine and meatballs and cheese platter, how can you get that wrong!!

We asked them to cook it more and it still was really rare when they returned it the 2nd time. The food isnt very good here, none of the dishes were impressive. The wine wasnt that good either.

That was okay, tuna wasn t very fresh. For entrees, we got the hanger steak and the short rib pizza. Steak was extremely chewy could barely eat it. And the pizza was okay but very cheesy and not much other flavor than that cheese. Then we got the Tiramisu which was extremely wet and tasted like it had been sitting around and was old. The lava cake was okay but the one at chilis is better. Service was alright but nothing spectacular. Overall was mid, will not be returning.

BAD DREAM on 2nd Street at CRU. Police were summoned to ask us to leave. The story: We checked into JW Marriott at 6:20 then walked down the street for Taverna restaurant but we decided to go into CRU. CRU prides themselves on the best wine bars in America but the service was absolutely horrible! We asked for Caymus but they were out of stock. The server (Elizabeth) poured a taste of Silver Oak Cab which was delicious. She grabbed a fresh bottle to pour us. I rather have an opened bottle that have oxidized. We asked the price because I didn t have glasses on. She said it s in the menu. She proceeded to pour two glasses at 43$ each - I asked her to hold and let me taste it. She said you ve already sampled. I said not this bottle but she kept pouring two glasses. I gave up and asked for a decanter, her reply was they didn t have any. She said she would get us a chiller. I said we don t need a chiller for cabs! Elizabeth never came back to our table so we stopped another waitress (Stevie) to ask for her help ordering. She asked what s the problem here. STUNNED US. We described the service and asked if Elizabeth was in training. Stevie said she s my sister and she works here sometimes. Stevie also said they don t get people like us in that knows wine. She sat and talked to us about wines and the service. We asked Stevie for a decanter and she said she would check on it but they pump their bottles. We then ask for anchovies on our pizza and waited but she never came back. I noticed the police standing outside speaking with the hostess/manager who had sat us. I didn t think anything of it. Shortly the police came in!! He asked us if there was an altercation with a waitress. WE WERE STUNNED AGAIN. All eyes in the restaurant were suddenly on us. The police officer was cool. He said the manager was asking us to leave and don t worry about the check for the 90$ bottle of wine. Other patrons in the restaurant sitting next to us were also stunned. They tried to speak up that nothing was out of the ordinary. Several tables said they were also leaving CRU. No contact with a manager at all. Just simple embarrassment of being asked to leave by police. Other people in the restaurant spoke with the manager and told her this was wrong. You kicked that guy out because he s Black. Manager said she have to protect her employees. What the hell did that mean?!? I never claimed the reason was I m Black; It must have been a dream. Sure I was the only Black in the restaurant but that s not unusual for people like me. The police helped us with other restaurants and we moved on to Taverna. Service was spot on! Server Rachael made up for the night but it did bug me all night. The fact that someone could say there was an altercation and I slapped a waitress arm there s almost nothing you can do even with witnesses. Another couple saw us on the patio and joined us. They described how terribly wrong that was at CRU and said it was a racist act and they are contacting corporate. Is Austin this paranoid about a black man in the city at a, use to be, decent restaurant? CRU should have to answer for this behavior. I will no longer go to the CRU Dallas, Plano and other locations again. Black, Brown and White people should ask CRU to correct these types of profiling.

If you know me, you know that my favorite cut of meat is beef tenderloin. Pair that with pizza and you got a combo thats unbeatable. I came to CRÚ specifically to try their Cru Steak pizza which in addition to the beef also comes with red onion, baby greens, parmesan, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. I was a fan! The tenderloin was really chewy and contrasted well with the crispy pizza dough and sweetness of the glaze. They have outdoor seating and at night its a fun atmosphere to be around. The service I received was okay and the pizza, although good, was a bit on the pricier side. In conclusion, I would rate them a 3.5/5, but will round down as there was more to be desired overall.

Update: Tanya, the Manager, handled things really well. She didnt charge me anything for my wine and charcuterie board! Beautiful place. I was really looking forward to visiting this WINE bar, but apparently the person serving me (Ryan) had very little time to not only serve me, but he definitely wasnt interested in talking or sharing about the wine flights he was serving. He seemed completely annoyed with the two questions I asked about the flights (mind you, I was the ONLY person in the large wine bar at 3:30p!). Very disappointing for the price and NO service. He didnt check on me until I asked if I could get a refill of water :( Although I love trying new wine, I will never visit this place again.

Hidden GEM. Seriously. I live upstairs so have walked by many many times and just sort of overlooked the place. But in the last few weeks Ive enjoyed both a wine flight (and food) on the patio with a friend, and hosted a private dinner in their private room and BOTH times have been lovely. Food on point. Service ON POINT. Wine flights also on point. The Private Room has MEH decor (the wall flower thing doesnt delight) BUT the privacy, the service staff, the food and wine more than make up for it. Total hidden gem.

Service and wine were wonderful. The shrimp scampi and creme brûlée were the worst Ive ever had. The shrimp was overcooked and the risotto was swimming in something that looked like dishwater and tasted like lemon water with salt. Let me provide more color on this. I have here eaten inside before for a wine infused dinner and it was lovely. But on my last visit for happy hour it was a mess. Lets start by the fact I had to go inside and interupt the two employees who were at the bar chatting to get any service (I was the only customer at that time) and I had to do it later to order more food. Then the food, clearly happy hour offerings are not the same as the regular food. The margarita pizza had no cheese or sauce on half of it. Dry terrible pie made frozen crust with nothing on it! The portions were not generous either. The wine was good as usual, but expensive. I dined outside, which is awesome but the space was not clean well organized and did not have heaters. So it is a mixed bag.

In short bad food and service with a smile but nought else . Disappointing as these are our neighbours since 2014 and we have loyally revisted over the years. Hope they get it right in the future and we will be able to return

Reasonably priced but easy to over do your budget for sure. The charcuterie board and 2 wine flights were good. Pictured are our entrees, Chicken Picatta and 8oz Gilet Mignon.

We were super excited to have a birthday brunch here while visiting Austin. We even made reservations since there seemed to be waits everywhere. Arrived on time and were greeted by a very unfriendly woman who said they weren t open (door was unlocked). I asked about our noon reservation and she only said they were having staff issues. Said (rudely) we could sit but she had no idea when we d be served. Then she started slamming things around. Not apologetic at all. I understand there are staffing issues and the frustration that she may have felt at that time, but I was the customer, who did nothing but arrive for my reservation with plans for a lovely meal. Either call your guests w/ reservations to reschedule and lock your doors, or welcome your guests and simply apologize (kindly) in advance for issues, then go above and beyond to treat them well. Very disappointed!

My sister and I came in for their Brunch Special this afternoon, and we had a grand time! Their Mimosas were amazing, the food was intriguing and delicious, and our server/bartender Brandon was awesome. We tried a few appetizers, entrées, and drinks, and had a blast. The service was a little slow, but we were having a carefree afternoon with drinks, good food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff, so we didnt mind.

Awesome place with reasonably priced lunch. Not too crowded, which is what we were looking for. $13 carafe of mimosa was very generous. The pizza itself was kind of mediocre, but the burger was possibly one of the best ones Ive had within the last year. The meat was absolutely seasoned to perfection! The place really cares about its wine selection, decor cool, and within the mood of their theme too. Definitely would like to go back for dinner!

Went there for Sunday brunch and it took the waitress 15 mins to even acknowledge us after we d sat down. When she finally came around to the table, she took our orders and we didn t see her again until our food had already arrived, been sent back because none of our 3 orders were correct, and had been sitting without water. We saw her a total of 3 times in the 1.5 hours we were there. Jason Harry, the manager, tried to make our experience better, but by then it was too late. On top of all that, they gave me food poisoning.

I should confess: their CRU pizza is a great fusion of steam and (no surprise) a pizza. Normally I would not gonna mix such things , but going with their great ratings and place name in the menu I decided to give a shot. And it worked really well, you can enjoy all the rich taste of beef and pretty ballanced pizza. The wine selection is pretty good, I went for a link and didnt not regret a moment. App claims they have a good menu, well something left for the next try. Pretty chill atmosphere, very respectful service: so give a try!

We were visiting Austin for the day and wanted to have brunch. We had a large party and we were told we would be accommodated and there would be no issue seating us. We arrived at Cru and were told we had to sit separately. The staff was also a bit rude when it was mentioned that we were told something different we we had called. We ended up leaving and eating at a different spot down the road.

Reynaldo was an amazing waiter extremely patient attentive and gave great recommendations on both the wine list and the food! the vibe of the restaurant is extremely relaxed Yet elegant. I thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch. We had the pizza with steak and balsamic vinegar very large portion absolutely delicious my companion had the risotto and scallops which were seared to Perfection the risotto was creamy and aldente.... Also cooked to perfection. we finished the meal off with the chocolate fondu which I found to be absolutely whimsical with a wonderful presentation only complaint was that the shortbread that was served was stale but the strawberries figs marshmallows and the actual chocolate we use to dip was very high-quality.... this is truly a great place to catch up with a friend and enjoy delicious food and wine. The portions are generous the food quality is good and I will definitely be back again and again

Went to dinner here with a friend. The wine list was pretty good, with the choice of some compiled flights (which always adds to the fun). We ended up having some small plates to share, and they were excellent. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere (until it started to pour, but we were pretty much done by then). Definitely worth checking into. Next time Im in Austin, this will be on the short list.

Service was dismal. Server picked up dishes and then placed dirty utensils on the table. It was brunch. There were eggs involved. Said, nope and asked for fresh silver. She brought them out and slammed them and it entrees on the table. The, 2 inch drop effect. For the price of my meal, I really didnt expect too have the butt of the tomato served in my dish. Lots of promise, but not so hot. There were only two other tables... So it wasnt a busy issue.

Terrible service. We just wanted to have some wine and there were several seats available inside and out. When we asked we were told at the door there was nothing available and there was a wait. We asked about the lounge area. The guy up front asked one of the girls and she said it was available. We sat and sat. We didnt know if we were supposed to order at the bar or not so one of us asked the bartender for a wine list. He said he would be with us shortly. We waited and waited and eventually got water. Waited and waited and eventually got a wine list. Waited and waited and nothing. We felt like we were being disregarded so we just left. Big thumbs down for a restaurant in a wonderful location with live music nearby.

Poorly staffed. The food is really good and of course the wine is. Biggest issue is the slow service so order up front and early. The tables are too small, too, which makes it difficult to order small plates and have wine and water. Staff is very slow and seem a bit inexperienced. Asking us to move our drinks so they can fit the plates.
