We eat here frequently, but apparently not as often as their Regulars . We tried to sit near the bar area so we could enjoy the Cowboy Game but was told that the remaining four tables were reserved for the regulars , but we could sit outside or near the kitchen area. I asked if the tv outside was going to be showing the Cowboy game and the waitress said that the tv s inside will show that game and the outside tv s usually show an alternate channel than what s inside. As far as pricing the alcohol is as cheap as you re gonna get (hence the regulars) and the food is pretty good as well.

The Gumbo is a MUST! Crawfish has a great flavor and is nicely sized. The staff is always friendly and fast-paced. We normally stop by for lunch, the place is always busy but the service is fast. It is one of our go-to places. 5.11.23 Update Gumbo is still the best ever. Tried their blue crab special for lunch today... we LOVED it! We went to Deckhand for lunch and were not disappointed. Upon tasting a bit of their thai sauce before our order arrived and instantly I realized this place is legit. We ordered pad thai, deckhand oyster and shrimp boil. Everything was great. Pad thai had the right taste and sweetness, almost as good as what I had in Bangkok. I won t nitpick there was no tofu or dried shrimp there. The oyster was fresh and clean. They used gulf shrimp for the boil, not the farmed ones like most seafood places in Austin, which is a huge plus. we will definitely be back to venture other dishes. Havent been here in years. I moved so they are out of the way. BUT today, I went and ordered the salt and pepper calamari, the fried wings, and the gumbo. The food is as good as I remember it! The crowd isnt as rowdy, but lots of TVs if youre a sports person, very roomy. AND they are in a new building. (Next door to Salvation army) They still dont have a full bar, so wine and beer is it. Soooooo I had two glasses of their Moscato wine. Uhm tasty! They have true Thai dishes, and some more Americanized ones too. The service I received was a tad lackluster, but when she did come to the table she was nice. If you havent been there yet you should, I dont think youll be disappointed. It s tough that my 4 star review is actually lowering their average as they re currently averaging a bit higher. I m really torn on 4 or 5 stars. That said, somewhere between 4-5 stars is what this place really deserves. The oysters were fantastic! No frills, just solid oysters. The staff was kind. The fried rice was definitely passable and decent but needed a bit more veggies and flavor for my liking but it s fried rice at a seafood place so . That said, it s on the menu and we ordered it so I ve got to knock the review down just slightly based on the dish being very average and not something I d order again. Overall very solid, I ll be back for more seafood for sure! Love the family friendly vibe too, felt momma owned and operated even though I have no idea who actually owns or operates it. Great stuff guys!

Deck Hand Oyster Bar offers a delightful seafood experience, even if your order doesn t go perfectly the first time. Recently, I visited and unfortunately, my crab legs were forgotten. However, Rebecca, the manager, truly turned the situation around. When I returned to address the issue, she was incredibly accommodating and ensured my order was corrected promptly. Rebeccas attentive and friendly service transformed what could have been a disappointing visit into a memorable one. The rest of the meal was excellent, with fresh and flavorful dishes that showcased the quality of their seafood. Food was great, havent been able to come here often as there is almost always a huge wait time with not much room for those waiting to stand or sit. But once youre seated, the food is great! Both times Ive been Ive had different waiters who seemed to disappear most of the time. Its hard to waive anyone down for service. They are incredibly nice though, and it is busy so thats likely why so its not a huge deal to me. It is incredibly loud though. No way to have a conversation with your table while there.

My wife and I were looking forward to dining at this place during our trip to Austin. Despite the bad weather, we were excited enough about the good things wed heard to make the 30-minute drive. According to Google, the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM, so we thought arriving at 9 PM would give us plenty of time. However, upon our arrival, we were informed by the waitress that the kitchen had already closed. What added to our disappointment was the staffs lack of empathy. It was late, the weather outside was dreadful, and all we got was a brief Sorry, the kitchen is closed, theres no food. We understand that situations like this can happen, but a little compassion would have gone a long way. A simple offer to reserve a table for us for the next day, or even just an offer of water, would have made a difference. Unfortunately, we received none of that. Theres a sign at the front desk that reads, If you are hungry and have no money, ask us and we will provide you a meal. Its funny because we were hungry, we had money, but we were still turned away with nothing.

A truly bad meal - I was so disappointed. The calamari was coated in pale doughy breading soaked in grease. The mussels vin blanc were tough and chewy as if either overcooked or old, many had broken shells (pieces of which were floating around in the broth), and the broth itself was like spicy dishwater. There was certainly no vin blanc flavor. The poor waitress was apologetic and said she would let her manager know, but that manager never even bothered to come check with us. I will never eat here again.

Had a party of 8.. one dish was very overcooked, mine was bland, and everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food. Apps were good. They do not have alcohol besides wine, beer/cider, not a deal breaker but disappointing. The service was good but a little sporadic. She was busy, though. I will go back for crab/crawfish as they do that very well, I recommend you order either of those with the sauce cooked in it.. amazing!

Jesus Christ the food is good but the service is awful. Please for the love of god hire some people to answer the phone. I don t know how many times I need to call just to not get an answer and end up not doing business here. Unbelievable
