It s a bit outside the main city so I didn t know if I d make it or if it would be worth the look but it must not be missed because it s such an incredible sculpture park. Takes you through great views of the river and the sculptures themselves are perfectly integrated with gardens or wood trails. The art school on site is also such a pretty building.

I love and support Austin museums, and I really enjoy contemporary art. However, I was a bit disappointed with this museum. The park it s located in is beautiful and an amazing place to hike. But the art selection is very limited and not very impressive. I planned the trip a week ahead to ensure a guided tour, but the tour guide didnt show up on the day, leaving us to wander around on our own. There werent any good spots with explanations about the art pieces. When we asked ChatGPT to tell us more about the pieces, there wasnt much to say nothing really exciting or memorable. Overall, its a beautiful location, but the experience was disappointing.

Absolutely incredible! I recommend to come on one of the free nights if you get the chance. We were in town for the weekend and found this beautiful gem and managed to get free admission too. Score! The grounds are perfectly manicured and its generally a mansion on the lake with trails and sculptures everywhere. Think of it as an outdoor art museum.

Wow. How is it that I grew up in Austin but am only now visiting the Contemporary at Laguna Gloria? I must have been living under a rock. No, no, I was too busy checking out all the great happy hours. The truth is, when I was younger I didnt appreciate the local art that Austin had to offer. ANYway. We came here on a Thursday because they have free admission and soon learned that this place is really special. There are so many awesome, unique and beautiful sculptures and its all outside. They also have sculptures that are featured for a specific amount of time and move on, and there are sometimes events for these. We attended one of those events and it was really cool to hear from the artist and attend the unveiling. Also, one of my most favorite Austin events has been the Contemporary Valentines Day karaoke party. I really hope this is an annual thing. This is definitely a cool place to check out to enjoy art, enjoy nature and participate in community events. Also, the gift shop is super quirky.

We had our wedding here earlier this year and it was a perfect choice. Fortunately we lucked out with the weather, seeing as how 90% of the space is outdoors, but otherwise the venue itself was beautiful and the team was extraordinarily helpful with the full process. One of the best wedding venues in Austin if you plan around the weather. And well keep coming back to Laguna Gloria for the sculpture garden, picnics, and classes.

Beautiful grounds and a great place for a stroll! There are a lot of peacocks in the area which is quite special to see. There is a $10 entrance fee, so it would be difficult to justify regularly visiting, but if you live in Austin I would highly recommend visiting at least once (especially if you are an art aficionado). Parking can be a bit tricky so be prepared to parallel park and walk a bit to get to the grounds.

Laguna Gloria has been improved very much over the years. It was once a beautifully forgotten, afterthought, where you could still see the lovely home, and some of the sculptures that were still available on the property. In the last 10 or so years, it has improved greatly in terms of the sculptures and exhibits, as well as the expressionist art pieces. Please enjoy the video of a 1953 Chevrolet playing music by Texas musicians and spoken word poetry. By the way veterans get in free.

Had a wonderful day at the contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria. I took my family on a Thursday in January, the weather was nice and warm. I brought them on this day because every Thursday is free entry to the contemporary Austin Museum,. we walked around on the grounds of the museum, got a very nice view of the lake. All the sculptures around the area were very beautiful, everything was so serene and relaxing. Great experience, you sort of go on a little hike while looking around which was great. Good exercise, family interactive, wheelchair friendly.

In the stillness of quiet places, our mind drifts to memories, both cherished and regretted. These moments of introspection remind us of lifes impermanence and the dance of joy and sorrow. Such places arent merely physical spots but portals to our inner world, where time and memory meld, evoking a deep, transformative melancholy.

A great spot in Austin to walk around in nature and enjoy modern sculptures. There are great views of the lake/river and there are sculpture installations scattered throughout the property, including along the shoreline. Its interesting to see how the sculptures interact with their surroundings versus just being placed in a white box museum. Kids can have some room to run, just no touching most of the pieces. If you have Bank of America I believe you can get in free some weekends, check their website.

A west Austin jewel, the Contemporary at Laguna Gloria is like stepping into the low country. Situated on Lake Austin across from Westwood Country Club, this was the Mediterranean inspired estate home of Clara Driscoll known as Laguna Gloria. There are 14 acres of crushed granite and wood chip paths that meander through the grounds shaded by moss draped heritage oaks. Art pieces are scattered throughout delighting at every turn. We love it so much that we joined as members but the cost is minimal to visit and tickets can be purchased online or onsite at the gift shop for $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Such a treat to visit this beautifully presented artwork and estate home very much a part of Austin s history.

Such a bummer. My child is going for art camp this week which is great, so we decided to head over during the evening (Thursday) to check out what hes been doing all week. Their website clearly says they are open til 9. We showed up at 7:20 and were turned away by an extremely rude and pretentious woman in glasses named Sydney. She said they have a movie night and that there is no general admission. The movie doesnt even start until 8:45. Nowhere on the website did it say that it will be closed during the movie nights for those visiting for general admission. Its frustrating because its the only night they are open and wed been looking forward to it all week. She turned us away with as much attitude as she could muster. After being uppity and rude she offered us passes to come back, which are useless to us because were members. They force you to buy a membership to do the camp, which is its own frustrating rip off. Basically, website is not informative enough, staff at the gate is incredibly rude. My 6 year old literally asked me later why the lady at Laguna Gloria was so rude.

I have never felt so belittled and unimportant in my life with how my family was treated. We were refused parking inside of the gate because we were with out photographer. Staff unstructured our photographer that only she needed to wear a mask, anywhere on property! However, with us being the family who paid for the use of the facility it was deemed acceptable for none of our party to wear a mask? I truly hope management can follow up on this. Such a beautiful facility but staff attitudes to drag your experience straight into the ground. Disappointed.

Laguna Gloria is my favorite museum in Austin. The scenery and incredible art make it one of the best spots in Austin for special moments. Thats why when my wife and I started our wedding planning process in 2019, Laguna seemed like a no-brainer for our intimate outdoor ceremony. Everything about the experience was so magical and perfect! We loved working with Arin Madera (touring the site to signing our contract) and then Shannon Willis (the rehearsal and our day of logistics). The staff is so professional and kind and made our little COVID wedding possible. We truly felt celebrated and taken care of. Highly recommend!

The sculptures most likely will not blow your mind away, but it is a very nice little park. The fee is $5 per person.

So worth it! The exhibits are so fun and interactive! Spend a beautiful day outside! Lots of parking. Pretty sure it s free Tuesday. And if you buy admission you get admission to both museums: this on and the one on Congress.

Not a review of the main museum or school but of the grounds, trail and sculptures. A lovely walk in a picturesque setting. Many interesting sculptures and some site-specific installations.

We were taking a tour of Austin with an older lady friend who was showing us around the city and she brought us here. It was really a hidden gem. I had never heard about this place until this day. They have really cool sculptures and random pieces of art in the courtyard area when you drive in. There is not cost to drive in and park. It is completely free! They have a walkway where you can walk down to the lake and see the water and trails. We didnt get a chance to walk down the trails but they seemed really pleasant and made me want to come back just to check them out. They had a piece in the courtyard made from all recycled aluminum food storage containers. It was very cool and really BIG! I wish we had more time to check out more things. We will surely be coming back here very soon. So much to see , so little time !!

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria is a very relaxing and serene location situated on the bank of Lady Bird Lake near downtown Austin. Contemporary Artwork sculptures throughout the property add a visually intriguing element to the visit along with the various art workshop areas and classrooms.

Took a drawing class here last fall, highly recommend the art classes that they offer . Their teachers are very knowledgeable and the classes are some of the most reasonably priced in the city. Such a beautiful campus, peacocks everywhere, water and a beautiful trail with sculptures galore! Very inspiring campus for drawing, photography, writing, etc.

As a photographer, I absolutely love working at Laguna Gloria and teaming up with the The Contemporary Austin team. The property is incredibly beautiful and well-maintained, which makes this a no-brainer for bridal portraits, engagements, weddings - you name it. The team is professional and is truly dedicated to making sure that the Austin community gets to enjoy and appreciate the arts at The Contemporary. Their events and site rentals team always makes things easy - I would give the property 10 stars if I could.

Its hard to beat an outdoor sculpture garden thats also on the water! Definitely worth a visit for the location itself. The art is quirky and fun, but definitely very modern. You can go into the house and see a few of the rooms on the bottom floor. Your ticket also gets you access to the Contemporary Museum on Congress.

One of my favorite places in Austin. Relaxing walk next to the lake surrounded by outdoor sculptures and a variety of art pieces. I have taken many Art classes throughout the years. Prices have gone up per class but is still worth it because the Teachers are excellent and the staff is very nice. Just feels like a home away from home.

Fantastic museum with low admission fees. They even participate in Bank of Americas Museums on Us program. Friendly staff and the outdoor sculpture garden is initially confusing but once you orient yourself, its pretty easy. Lots of cool and unique pieces. Worth a visit if youre in the area.

One of the best kept secrets in terms of tourist stops in Austin. The grounds are beautiful, and the space really is wonderful for special events, or just a quiet morning walk on the grounds. Dont miss seeing the peacocks at Mayfield Park just nextdoor.
