The first time I visited the place I studied their menu a little with their references and the truth was I was craving their nachos that in the photo looked delicious with meat, guacamole and cream, for $12 DLS which seemed like a great price but when ordering them They brought me toast with a cup of deep that was delicious but for the same cost of $12 DLS it was absurdly expensive, the drink had also seen some very attractive ones and since it didnt say the name I showed the photo and they offered me a similar one with the presentation It is very cute but the taste is strange and tasteless, as if discounted for a cost of $14 DLS, which is what an alcoholic drink usually costs in Austin. I also ate a hamburger, I forgot to take a photo, the taste was terrible, the meat was not seasoned. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service excellent by the waiters. I asked for menu details to which they responded that it was changed. But their menu has not been modified on Google

I understand the crackling of a fire place. We live in Texas and there shouldnt be a fire place lit any where in Texas especially when the weather is humid, dry, and hot. To the manager of this establishment dont have the fire place going when our weather is humid and hot. I feel sorry for the employees.

Selective service. We sat at an outside table. I asked the bartender if there would be a server/ outside. And she will send her to us. 15 minutes of sitting there, we didnt get service.. no waters, no menu, or any acknowledgment. 2 people sat on the table next to us and got greeted, menu, and service within 5 minutes. I went to the bartender and explained this to her. She just gave me an excuse that they were busy and the server will be there when she can. No apologies from her. I walked back and caught the waitress and explained that to her. Asked why other people were served before me. She said she was busy and just walked away. It feels like they were selective with who they wanted to serve. And didnt really care enough to apologize.

Wonderful place to get lunch. Beautiful view on the hotel pool and outside area from the restaurant. They have free coffee and small lunch menu that doesn t overwhelm- just right and everyone will find something! I ordered a Peach Caprese salat but they offer it seasonal with pears. It tasted so good I will definitely go back. Wheelchair accessibility: First floor and no stairs

Went there on 1/4/24. Food was decent and waitress was great. Just checked my bank account and I was charged twice. One charge was for the total of the bill plus tip. Second charge was $84 and there is no reason why they should have charged that. I called about the charge, and they said they don t see it on their end. They said I have to call again when a manager is there which could be today or another day this week, so I had to ask for a call back so I am not having to constantly call until I get ahold of the manager to resolve the issue. I emailed them the charge on my bank statement. Disappointed that I got brushed off and that I will have to wait this long to get this resolved even after emailing them my bank statement.

Update: The day after this experience, my credit card has multiple charges on it. As a business owner myself, this business needs to look into this bartender/ manager . Something shady is going on. Patrons - check your charges after visiting this establishment. Horrible customer service - as a local, I have loved walking to this bar to grab an old fashioned. After the experience I had tonight, we will not be back. I ordered a $22 smoked old fashioned off the menu and was up charged an additional charge for it being smoked . ?? I expect a charge for an alcohol upgrade but he explained that there was a second up charge for a smoked drink even though the one I ordered from the menu said smoked. I mentioned my concern thinking there was a mistake and the bartender told me he was the manager and he was unwilling to do anything to help - Sorry you had the wrong expectations . Long story short- as someone who is okay expecting to pay $25+ for a drink, I am not okay being disrespected and talked down or paying over $60 for 2 drinks. Keep walking- plenty of other great options in the Domain.

This place is very unique and comfortable. Limited menu of well chosen sandwiches and appetizers. We didnt drink, but the bar looked amazing. The sign outside does not say The Watering Trough, so it was hard to find until I looked at the picture of the building. Kid-friendliness: Only three tables of people when we were there but we all had kids with us. Noon on a Sunday. Wheelchair accessibility: Our son is not in a wheelchair but has mobility issues and development delays, so I am always looking for places without stairs and wide open spaces between tables. The staff were patient while he ordered his own food and spoke to him kindly, rather than talking to me for him. I appreciate that so much!

Parking: Depends on how busy it is you can find free parking, if its busy there are plenty of paid parking garages in the Domain a quick walk away. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids running around .

While staying at Lone Star Court I had the opportunity to dine at Water Trough. The place is really like like eating inside a big barn with bar on one side and fireplace on the other. There are TVs all around and live music at night. The first night I enjoyed a Lone Star Beer and Peach Cobbler. The beer was good and the cobbler was tasty. I thought it could have been a little sweeter. The next morning I had breakfast where I ordered the Classic Breakfast Plate. I customized it to include scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. There was free coffee to help wakeup. Breakfast was very good and had a tentative server to make sure we were satisfied. I never know this place was here and glad was able to discover it.

The restaurant and hotel did a lovely job accommodating our workshop group of about 35 people. I love the atmosphere with the open garage doors and fire pits. I really appreciated it.

Sat at a table for 20 min. No service. Nobody bothered to even stop by. We wanted to have dinner and cocktails. Went to Maggianos across the street instead. Glad we did. It was excellent. I would recommend The Water Trough to train their staff so that guests feel welcome. And if you intend that people order their food and drinks at the bar themselves you might want to put up a sign saying so, as your staff does not communicate with guests. We will not return.

Not the best pork ribs; cooked Friday & reheated on Sunday! No sides for $18! Ouch Service was good but short staffed; damn COVID! Seriously thought I d had a choice of 2-sides with my ribs and an extra side of sauce, but nope! I ve eaten at Mission, Pappy s & many other BBQ establishments across the USA and comparing them with The Water Trough, the Trough doesn t stand up to the competition. Atmosphere is pleasant, on a nice Sunday afternoon the air was breezy & comfortable. Music was entertaining & not over the top loud! It s a nice hangout spot; grab a drink & chill kinda place!

Hotel Bar-Restaurant for Lone Star Court. As usual for Austin, music-performers are pretty good. Decent selection of beer and wine, but cant recommend cocktails (weak). Its fine in the summertime when they have the doors open to the outside, but in winter, it can be tight. Its fine for a starter drink before going out, but would recommend somewhere else for continuing the party.

Hamburger. Freezer burned, mixed with flour, and blackened. Disgusting. Out of French Fries. Sweet Potato Fries substituted. Soft on the outside hard on the inside. Disgusting. Less than the burger, but cmon man. The 4 dollar bag of gummy bears would have made a better meal. Apologies to the staff. Service was fine. Dinner was bad. Real bad. So bad, I can tell anyone about my dinner this weekend and describe the dissapointment.

This space is amazing. Outside feel with good food and drinks, activities, and family-friendly. Especially good for decent-size groups, though I could not figure out their policy re: reserving space/tables. My family tried to reserve tables for months leading up to a wedding weekend. The response was that you could not reserve anything. A 50-person group slowly trickled in and took over a corner on a Fri afternoon. Staff questioned our presence without having made previous reservations... which felt like an unnecessary source of stress that weekend considering our attempts to avoid this situation in advance. That piece aside, I plan on going back with a smaller group...

There is a daily happy hour from 4-7 pm and they have delicious brisket smoked daily on site as well as a full menu with a broad selection of items to choose from. The bartenders are all amazing <3 This restaurant/bar is always open to the public. You seat yourself (inside or outside) and order with the bartenders. The Water Trough opens daily at 4pm, and 12 pm on Fri and Sat staying open till two am! This is a full bar with the availability to make all kinds of craft cocktails and an amazing old fashioned.
