Stopped I for the first time for drinks and some apps before going to an event. We ordered drinks at the bar and asked if we could order some starters. The bartender said yes, that we could sit along the banquette seating next to the bar. We found a seat and saw a drink and food menu on the table in front of us. There were utensils at the table. When our server greeted us we told him we wanted to order some food and he said no, we couldn t do that in the area where we were seated. He left to see if he could do something and never came back. We promptly closed our tab and went somewhere else. Really disappointed because we ve been wanting to try this place. The atmosphere is nice. I hope they invest more in training because our experience was an opportunity to turn us into raving fans. Would be willing to try this place again because I know sometimes the staff are just trying to follow orders.

I was lucky to be there on Mexican Independence Day. They had an amazing drink food desert pairing. Made some friends at the bar. They came from really far away. So I felt like I should not complain anymore. I m just coming from the east side so it s not really that far. Just a different scene. I used to live on S first and went to get Polvo d all the time. It s super expensive there now and not nearly as good as Nomade. S First has changed a lot. But there are some nice gems sprinkled in. Rob was super nice and knew more than most bartenders when it came to tequila and mescal. If you need a place for date night this is def it. Tulumn vibes for sure! Also I think dogs allowed on the patio if you don t want to bring a date Parking: There is parking. Not a ton so the earlier the better.

Went in there for restaurant week and was so shockingly disappointed with the service delays . We were seated at 9:15 , got our first course within 5 mins of order taken and then had to wait till 10 pm and after for the next one . I shared my feedback with the server at time and he started giving me ETAs for the courses after it and kept asking if he can get us anything else in the meantime which i don t understand if our current order is backlogged how will ordering some more food ensure faster service from the kitchen ? unless he meant drinks and we weren t drinking so .. taste wise - not a fan , felt like a mismatch of flavor profiles and quite a few of the dishes had a a handful of herbs taking up a quarter of the plate.. bass was beautifully cooked and flaky. the vegetarian dishes were tastier than the meat ones overall. Not sure if the wait was worth it , came out of that date quite exhausted . Their desserts were the best course - both flan and mango sorbet . Decor is beautiful - feels like you re at the beach

One of our favorite spots for the atmosphere. Food is good but beware of the spice levels on many dishes including the ceviche. Feels like you are in Tulum Mexico. Cocktails are tasty and they have good happy hour prices. Portion size can be a bit on the smaller side for some dishes.

EDIT: I recieved a response from the owner below. They claimed to offer to send me some sort of compensation for this bad experience, however I was ghosted after emailing them. The reply is a stunt to make them look good. -- Nomade was beautiful, however the food was not. My partner and I went last night (3/30) to try the food after learning that they are entirely gluten free and my partner has celiacs. He ordered the ceviche, and I ordered grilled shrimp. The ceviche came out as a bowl of lime juice, barely any fish, and egg whites that smelled strongly of alcohol. Not only did he have fish bones in his ceviche that was more like a tasteless, spicy alcohol soup, but he also got food poisoning that night after the fact. My shrimp was okay, but the portion was extremely small for the price. We left still hungry, and paid a hefty price even after being comped for the fish bone stew. Not at all worth the exorbitant price for a meal that is trying too hard to be upscale.

Super unassuming exterior. It feels like you are entering a futuristic patio bar. It is a true year round patio: I was on the patio in 48 degree weather, in a very lightweight outfit due to an occasion, and was perfectly comfortable the whole time. I always joke: Rule #1 I am always cold. Rule #2 I am always hungry. Nomade addressed both rules beautifully. Wonderful new restaurant. Great presentation, textures, flavors, and even color. I went on a wonderful ride of flavor. The pumpkin seed humus is not really humus but is insanely delicious. Their take on guac was authentic but interesting. The Adobo chicken had depth of flavor and spice. Nice cook in the chicken. I was not huge on the kale - the only miss in the entire meal for me, but my companion loved his. The star was the tuna coconut ceviche. I would come back and have the pumpkin seed purée and the tuna as my meal in a heartbeat. The atmosphere is different Like if the cantina in Star Wars was in Austin. The style of the staff only reinforces that you are in Tatooine s hippest watering hole. I guess the decor is out of this world? The food actually is. Inspired take on tuna ceviche. I am here for all the in house coconut cream happening in Austin, and Nomade has amazing coconut cream made in house hiding in the well of the coconut the ceviche is served in. Inside is small and industrial. Parking is hard. Most likely will have to park in the paid lot across the street.

The restaurant itself is very well manicured and instagrammable but the food itself left us very wanting. To be clear, we only ordered off the vegetarian menu so I can t speak to the rest of the menu. That being said, every single food item that was served was over salted beyond any reasonable taste. None of the dishes or items we ordered were fully eaten because we just got overwhelmed by how salty everything was. We started with the Sikil Pak and thought that maybe the saltiness was just a mistake - maybe the cap fell off the shaker, but then every other dish arrived the same way. We were also very wary of a dish being vegetarian because when the server dropped off the Seta Panucho she commented on how good the rendered fat of the dish was. We voiced our concern that we had ordered the vegetarian dish, and she seemed to brush it off and say, oh yeah, that s what you got. But this didn t instill confidence. We had to ask our other server if we got the right dish which took him a moment to confirm. This didn t build confidence but we came around to eating yet another underwhelming and over-salted dish. The overarching theme is that the food was very underwhelming and overpriced for what we got. The space is beautiful, but not enough of an incentive to return.

This is a very trendy place that looked promising but I wouldnt recommend to most people. This place is for expensive drinks and appetizers. The restaurant seemed to be all outdoors and had a lot of fans outside, but they blew out tons of fragrance that was a little suffocating. I would not recommend if you had allergies or asthma. I would also recommend buying a drink for better service. The server we had seemed a little rude when we asked for other nonalcoholic options.

Service was quite frankly terrible. We ordered 2 drinks and guacamole to start. Waited 15 min for drinks to come and they only brought one of the drinks. When she came back, gave her the rest of the order. Apps came out and still no guacamole. Had to reorder the guacamole. Ordered another round of drinks, simply tequila on rocks with lime. They forgot the lime. We asked for lime, it was never brought. Dropped an order of an app to our table that we already got 25 min before and we had to tell waitress it wasn t ours. Staff rarely came over to check on how things were, only at the end when taking the plates did they ask if everything was ok. Food was good but if I m paying $250+ for a dinner I would expect attentive staff and much better service for a nice date spot in Austin. Will not be going back, which is unfortunate because the vibes were so nice.

2.Update: Quickly becoming an all time favorite, Nomade has tickled my palette once again. With deliciously bespoke drinks, a menu that is healthy fresh and an atmosphere to relax in. Our waiter Murphy was such a joy as our party enjoyed a nice breeze & cool mist on the patio. The staff is trained so well on the menu, ingredients & composition of the dishes offered. We had the Pork, fried crab legs & hamachi civiche. While I love fish, they also have a plant based menu available! The pastry chef unlocked an entire new level in my mouth with their Myan Guava Cheesecake I can t even describe the perfect balance of fruit acidity, myan chocolate layers and perfectly fluffy cheesecake. You ll just have to order it for yourself. Once again, the coconut flatbread takes the gold! They only had 5 orders left for the evening so, I ordered all 5 because I didn t want anyone else to have them. I m currently enjoying my score at work as I update this review ( kids are at home making personal pizza pockets & stuffed deli sandwiches with the other flatbreads because they reheat perfectly in our air fryer) Till next time! 1.Nomade is a gem in the heart of Austin, offering a beautifully aesthetic dining experience inspired by Tulum. The comfortable seating, warm decor, and entirely gluten-free menu create a welcoming atmosphere. Their flatbread is an absolute must-try, and once you ve tasted it, you won t want to share. Nomade has quickly become my favorite spot to relax and indulge in some of the best gluten-free food in Austin. Vegetarian options: Dedicated plant based menu Dietary restrictions: GF paradise! It s a dedicated GF kitchen so if you re celiac like me then you safe! No reactions. Parking: Parking behind restaurant. Free

Tried to resolve with management, got offered a shot as a gesture of goodwill then they charged us for it on our tab. Left a yeti cup in the bar, which one of their staff stole and took home when we went to collect it! Awful - would never go again.

The relaxed vibe and muted colors of the place immediately brought a calming feeling over me as we walked through the restaurant to the back patio. I was worried about the Texas heat sitting outside but the fans and shading made it very comfortable. Actually the entire restaurant is open air so eating inside or outside is going to feel close to the same. Recommend going with some friends and all sharing the plates so you can try a little bit of everything. We didnt have one bad dish and each one was presented like a work of art. We ordered the following: To start, we had tostadas with sauces*, charred pulpo, ensalada de tomate*, and jaiba fritas*. Then we ordered scallop agua chile, hamachi ceviche, and ostiones borrachos*. For the larger plates, we ordered enmoladas verdes and wagyu bistec*. Although we were full, the dessert menu looked too good to pass up so we got the tres leches*, churros, and coconut flan. Each dish was heavenly but I put an * next to my absolute favorites. The creativity in each of the plates was top notch and the combination of the flavors seem to explode with each bite. Dont forget to try out the signature cocktails that were unique in their own way also. We each had our favorites but my favorite was the La Jungla if you like the tiki type drinks. The wait staff were very attentive and answered our many questions we had about the dishes we were ordering. They were quick to refill our waters but also left a pitcher of water on our table so we could refill ourselves. Highly recommend this one! Parking: There is dedicated Nomade parking in the lot behind the restaurant. It is free and has about 12ish spots (more or less. I didnt count). If that is full, there is another lot next to restaurant but you have to pay to park.

The seating area is nice outside with the misty fans rotating. We ordered four different dishes to try and our favorite was the tostados samplers and shredded pork tostados. I would say the ahi tuna and scalloped dish was quite room temp for it being raw. The white foam around ahi tuna was a bit overwhelming in an alcoholic taste. I was taken to Nomade for dinner while on a work trip to Austin. I was a little worried when they told us we would be eating outside given thew high temperatures, however the Nomade experience was perfectly geared up for the Austin climate. We arrived and were shown to a long table in the rear courtyard, covered in festooned fabric and cooled by fine mist and fans, the temperature was warm but comfortable. The food we ate was pre-ordered (and paid for) by the company that was hosting us so I dont know what other options were on the menu or the price of our meal, all I do know is the food was incredible and the drinks were super delicious! The waiting staff were very attentive, but I think they might have been a bit short handed given that our drinks did take a little long to be replenished. I thoroughly recommend Nomade, I really enjoyed my visit and would love to go back again if I ever find myself in Austin again

The food was truly delicious but the service was severely lacking and made this outing a poor experience. Our server didn t come with waters for a long time initially and was hard to find to place our order. There was almost no one in the outdoor seating and literally one person inside and there were at least 6 servers so I m not sure what he was doing the entire time. He didn t explain the meals as he brought them to us which for the prices and level they are trying to go for here, he should have. After asking what dessert we should get he said he was honestly over all of the desserts which is unhelpful and honestly dumb to say because we ended up not getting dessert since he didn t really make it sound like they were worth it. Also they clearly ran out of budget by the time they got to the bathroom decor because the women s and men s room decor both looked super cheap/ tacky. The just drilled some 2x4s to metal bathroom stalls (and btw have open flames on flimsy candle holders inches away from all of this raw wood. I have no idea how that isn t a fire code violation). Finally, I know it s Austin but the prices here were shocking even for Austin. This SINGLE tuna tartare tostada was EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. It was delicious but like come on. 18$ ?! I was shocked when it came out. (See photo). This place is all show for social media it feels like and doesn t really have the follow through in its real experience when you get there. Such a bummer!

My gf and I went there for an early dinner on a Friday. Many things to like and a couple mediocre things too. The great: Charred pulpo was delicious, but the Fish Tempura was our favorite! We were told to eat it like a lettuce wrap, but their wasnt much lettuce given to really do this. The good: Raw oysters were good. The Panucho bite was good too, but could have used a bigger tortilla/chip bottom. The proportion was off. The ok: Hamachi Crudo, that mezcal foam was a bit too much for us. Not to say we didnt like it, because we did eat it all,, but we wont order that again. The tuna was ok, a little spicy like I like it,, but small and not special. I like that their drink menu has lists of the tequila options,, but the actual cocktail menu didnt really have any tequila drinks- just mezcal and other liquors. So I just asked for a margarita (not any on menu?) and selected my favorite tequila. There was a spiked jarritos option on their happy hour menu,, but not on the cocktail menu. The other thing that was a little off for me was the decor- both outside curb appeal and the indoor seating seem so basic. You can see fingerprints from construction all over the odd faux fireplace and , I dont understand all the compliments on the decor, I appreciate an understated aesthetic,, but its just not an attractive looking restaurant at all- the outside is such an eye sore to me. I will say the outdoor seated section looked slightly nicer, but it was too hot for us that day. We will maybe go again, but just for a quick drink and small bite, not a dinner we would want in our rotation for the price point, vibe, and food.

Food was good and our server was nice. When making our reservation it asked if we had any special requests and I put that we were celebrating my boyfriend s 30th birthday and asked if they could do anything festive / or a surprise desert. But there was nothing, not even a happy birthday from any of the staff members helping us. Kinda disappointing when celebrating a big birthday

This is a really nicely decorated restaurant on South 1st with plenty of outdoor seating, grouped into cozy separated sections. The decor is beige and white, natural textures, accented with candles and succulents. As soon as you step through the tall doors, you are transported into a sexy atmosphere. One menu offers a lot for pescatarians and there is a whole separate vegetarian menu. We started our meal with a cocktail, El Yucatecan ($15). It was presented really nicely but was extremely sour so we had to order extra simple syrup. We shared an order of chips and 3 different salsas ($9). These were all pleasant. My favorite was the roasted habanero. For our follow up, we had the Charred Pulpo ($26). It was not my favorite. It was too charred and not chewy enough. For our final course we shared the Campechana Mixto ($22). This dish had nice flavors and good spice. The service was not outstanding, but everything came out coursed. We will probably come back to try other items especially from the vegetarian menu. Vegetarian options: There is a complete alternate vegetarian menu available

The dishes are brilliant! Very well curated with intersting spices and ingredients. When I go to a nice restuant, I want to be dazzled with an interesting menu that delivers an experience. I want to start off this review by saying i ve been in the service industry for 10+ years and don t ever write negative reviews, especially about servers, but my experience at Nomade is one I feel the need to write about. Ethan started our table off really great & inviting but as time went on our table was neglected & we were never offered another round of drinks or offered dessert. I am putting emphasis on the dessert because we were celebrating a birthday (it was added to the reservation when i made it). The appetizer also took over 20 minutes to get to the table which he came over to apologize for but we didn t feel compensated in any way over that mistake. I say it s a mistake because the table next to us got their 3 appetizers before us when they had sat down at their table way after we did. When ordering food not once but TWICE did he forget to inform us that they were out of two menu items. It would ve been ideal to have known beforehand what items were unavailable before ordering. It is just unacceptable for the server to be so uninformed about the menu items. The food was AMAZING but because the service was disappointing it ruined the experience especially when we were there to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately we never had a manager touch the table (not even to apologize for the appetizer) or we would ve said something to them we wanted to love the place but it wasn t the best experience. I still left 20% tip but i usually always tip at least 30 or more.

If you are looking for the usual, this is not the place. Instead, step inside a tranquil, eye-candy of texture decor where your eyes dont know where to stop wandering. The setting is so creatively finished, it feels like you are taken abroad somewhere on some destination vacation. We made a reservation for a Saturday evening. We were greeted and seated promptly, and had friendly service throughout our entire meal. Dining with vegetarian friends, we opted for the vegetarian menu. We were first served with beverage of our choice. We all chose something different, beer, wine, and a couple of specialty drinks-super good! The menu was served at a great pace, not too fast and not lingering on time either. We had the guacamole- we all agreed the way it was prepared was something new for us all, and ate every last drop of it. Probably one of the favorites was the Coconut Flat Bread, fresh out of the wood burning oven and melts in your mouth. Other top favorites were: the Califlower with Jicama, a perfect bite of perfection and the sweet potato dish. The char on the sweet potato vamped up the flavor to another level. I would definitely go here again, for dinner, or even for a snack and drinks, as the outside bar is just as inviting as the dining area.

My wife got a margarita with mezcal and I got the tepache drink. Service was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, half way in our dinner we decided to order more food and I was afraid it was going to take a long time to get the extra food because the restaurant was full but they brought the food quickly. We went to Nomade for the first time for my birthday a couple weeks ago and had THE BEST time!! We had 10 of us (all vegetarian/vegan) so we reserved the large outside table and proceeded to fill the table with drinks and tapas and chips and salsa and we all loved everything we ate! Half of us did mocktails only and were blown away by the tamrindo sour! And the other half enjoyed Palomas - everyones faces lit up after the first sip! The coconut flatbread and chimichurri was so good, Im still thinking about it. All of the tapas and entrees were amazing - I dont have the time to describe everything we tasted, but I highly recommend the cauliflower tacos and the little fried refried bean pocket with the lions mane mushrooms on top. (I cant remember what it was called) OH! And the COCONUT FLAN!! So good. Definitely have a birthday here!!! They also have happy hour almost every day so definitely stop by and check it out!! Vegetarian options: Ask specifically for the vegetarian menu! Its a separate menu and actually has A LOT of options! The coconut flatbread is vegan and on the happy hour menu as well!! Dietary restrictions: Restaurant is fully gluten-free (they dont even allow you to bring gluten into the restaurant) and they have a large vegan/vegetarian menu!! We were very impressed with the options and multiple flavors and combinations!

Nomade is a charming oasis on S 1st that makes you feel as if you ve been transported. If you re wanting to feel like you re at a tropical beach club without booking a plane ticket, this is the spot. The atmosphere is definitely the best and most appealing aspect of this restaurant. We also enjoyed the food that we had: the Coconut Flatbread, Tuna Crudo, and Jaiba Frita were all unique and super tasty. I appreciated the diverse flavors in their dishes and the variety of offerings they had while still keeping the menu small. I also have to commend them for having an entirely gluten free menu- that s often a difficult feat to achieve while still making everything delicious! Speaking of delicious, the churro on the dessert menu was truly the best churro I ve ever had. Out of all the dishes, I was most impressed with that one. Unfortunately I have to dock them down to 4 stars due to a less than pleasant interaction we had with the staff when we asked to switch seats: after waiting a while to be seated, even with a reservation, they sat us in the corner of a tent outside of the main seating area with a fan blowing directly on us. It had also just rained and there was a wet garbage smell right outside the tent, it made for a pretty unfortunate seating arrangement. When we asked to move to one of the many open two person tables in the main part of the restaurant, we were rudely shut down by the hostess. Even though everything else about the experience was good, that really soured the night. A restaurant can t be 5 stars if it doesn t have hospitalitable service (or if it places guests in a damp and smelly corner when they were expecting jungle oasis vibes!) In short, Nomade has good food and great ambiance, as long as you re in the main seating area of the restaurant!

We went here tonight as a pre-Mother s Day dinner. Host literally locked the gate to the ramp on us that leads from the car park to the restaurant - we thought he was coming to open it for us because we had a stroller, but no, he tied it up. Amazing service would open the gate for patrons and welcome them in, even if it isn t the main entrance. Anyway, once at the front entrance, I carried my sleeping toddler across the rocks in his stroller (while being 35 weeks pregnant) to the host stand, he preceded to tell us that there weren t any tables until 8:45pm (it was 5:30pm). I pointed to the walk-in area where there were lots of free tables, and he said we could sit in that area Moving on to the food, portions were TINY and ridiculously overpriced - $14 for a single, bite-sized tostada smaller than my 5 year old s palm, corn chips were undercooked and chewy and $16 for a small bowl of guac. Venue is very aesthetically pleasing but definitely don t recommend.

Great service, atmosphere, & dishes, just a higher price tag. Breakfast Tacos came on beautiful blue corn tortillas. Salsa was full of smoky flavor and spice. Great attention to detail everywhere from the landscaping and patio design to the matching uniforms to the stoneware and glassware used for the dishes. Great service my water glass never was empty and I and my guests were always offered another drink as I neared the end of my last. The cocktails were limited and expensive, but the presentation was nice for the cost. (16-20+ a piece) I opted for a plain mimosa which was $8.

I was very excited to try this spot but was underwhelmed by the food. The experience and food story is based on Yucatan flavors but after trying a few dishes (waiting to see if we d order more) we decided to call it. Unfortunately, the flavors were not standing out in each dish and some were a little salty. A big emphasis on Yucatan inspired because the flavors were not those of Yucatan. Guacamole: salty Octopus: not charred enough and a bit gummy. Hiramase: okay but the pineapple overpowered the other flavors. Not balanced. Enmoladas verdes: salty and the cochinita filling was not made well. It was dry and tasteless, not at all like a cochinita pibil should taste.

The atmosphere and food were great. I love all the architectural features. The food was well seasoned and fresh, and plates looked beautiful. I do have to say something about the drink (Bloody Maria). I was insanely spicy. Im Mexican, Im no stranger to spicy hot food, but this was almost undrinkable. Another thing they could improve on is having some of those fly fans for tables. There were so many flies, maybe because it had just rained so much. Overall, it was a great experience.

I went in Friday night and sat at the bar. Mandy made a delicious cocktail and was so nice and knowledgeable about the flavors of each drink. Ben was awesome and guided me through the food menu, I started with the duck appetizer that was just the right size for a starter and so delicious! I also had the braised rib, and the watercress salad was a surprising and refreshing flavor balance to the richness of the ribs. I will definitely be back!

Food was good, but the experience as a whole was quite disappointing. - Atmosphere wasnt as impressive in person. Didnt seem super clean or tidy and there was an odd, almost fishy smell. Should have requested to be moved outside. - Our waitress did not do a great job. Not only did my order come out wrong and she failed to print the receipt, but she also just made the whole experience somewhat uncomfortable. She seemed to not know how to put the orders in, so ordering took SO long (one simple item per person for a party of 4). Even worse, her really long nails made for what became several awkward attempts at picking a menu up off our table as she had her arm in my friends face. We had entirely too much awkward time spent with her standing/leaning right on top of us, and I and my guests were pretty uncomfortable. Overall, it was a disappointing time at a place Id really been excited to try. Wish Id taken my out of town friends somewhere else - an authentic food truck would have been way more fun with probably as good - or better - food! (For context, Im a very down-to-earth gal who just likes nice people and good food. If Nomade hadnt felt so pretentious, I wouldnt be leaving a review at all.)

I was totally blown away by the food and spirits here. My server, Murphy, was so helpful and knowledgeable. I think I ended up eating half the menu. And half off Tequila Tuesdays??? Yes please! I m already making plans to return.

Some of the best ceviche I ve had in austin! The standouts here are definitely their seafood appetizers, especially the scallop agua chile and octopus. We only got one entree (Enchiladas) which were just ok. I recommend the tamarindo sour zero proof. The service was great, the atmosphere is giving romantic mexico city, and the food was overall very tasty. I ll definitely be back. Parking: Park in the neighborhood street next to the restaurant
