We visited Kinda Tropical for lunch as a group of three and had a great experience. The place has a cozy, laid-back vibe with a nice dining space and a welcoming backyard that adds to the charm. We tried the chicken sandwich, Thai coconut salad, and sesame salad. The chicken sandwich was decent, but it didn t quite hit the mark for us, so I d give it 3 stars. The Thai coconut salad was flavorful and refreshing, earning a solid 4 stars. The real standout was the sesame salad, which was fresh, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious definitely deserving of 5 stars. Overall, Kinda Tropical offers a relaxed atmosphere and some standout dishes that make it worth a visit, especially if you re looking for a chill spot to enjoy a meal with friends.

The bartenders were rude and seemed stuck up. They should pick up some tips from Rosita( I believe that was her name), one of the cleaning staff. Rosita was very nice and friendly. Even wished the birthday girl a happy birthday and well wishes. We came to celebrate a birthday here and wanted to try this place out, but because I was unsure of where to place my order and asked the bartenders where I should order they both looked at me with confusion. One of them responded where you re standing. The birthday girl herself and another friend had the same issue of them being rude. The food and drinks were okay. Won t be back.

We had lunch here yesterday. I had the grass fed burger with gluten free bun. Delicious!! We also ordered the yuca fries with dip sauce. The Micholada with a side car was refreshing. Very nice atmosphere. Great service. Plan to spend about 20-30 dollars with drinks per person.

Went on a Monday night with all the old school hot rods come and park while everyone walks and talks about their prides and joys. Great atmosphere, met a ton of cool people, staff are super attentive and friendly and a chicken sandwich I ordered which had hot honey on it, first time I ve ever tried hot honey, and it was phenomenal. Cheap beers, decently priced drinks, will definitely come here again

Great spot to hang out with friends. There is indoor seating and lots of outdoor seating. It has an eclectic/retro vibe. There are misters outside to help cool things down when it gets hot. We were there at night when it was still in the 90s and misters were on blast which was nice. Staff is friendly. The food is good and has a mix of different things. There are some vegetarian options. There are also a mix of cocktails and frozen drinks. No non-alcoholic frozen drinks when I asked though. Parking: This place is usually popping so parking can get tricky. They have a lot which gets filled quickly. There is street parking along the road but sometimes you have to park in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. Not bad though and it s safe from my experience

Overall disappointed in atmosphere, food & drink quality, and service. Would not go back. Order at counter place where you get a number and they bring it out to you. We sat out back since it was nice outside. People were smoking which was a bummer. Ordered curly fries, a tofu salad, and shrimp. It took over 30 minutes to get our food, and when it came out it was all room temperature cold. Very disappointing. Tasted fine and the portions were a nice size, but cold fries and cold fried shrimp are never good. Got a frozen drink (strawberry pina colada) and it was very, very icy without much flavor at all. Only a few sips did I taste any coconut flavor. My friend said his burger was meh.

This place is pretty good all around. Ordered the smashburger, it was pretty perfect. Split with a friend as was not super hungry. Also tried the yucca fries. Tasted like potato, pretty good though. They did a good job frying them. Probably want to eat them while hot. They make a variety of very decent cocktails, have draft beers, They have a very nice patio, and it has a bit of shade and umbrellas. Very nice on a pretty day. Although this is probably not a great place to go in the rain. They occasionally have a band play and thats usually quite nice. Went there to see spliff kazoo band initially.

Updated: Been here a few times now. Food is consistently good and atmosphere is great for hanging out, especially outside without constant pressure to buy more. Staff are friendly but unobtrusive. --- What a hoppin kind of place! Burgers, yucca fries and kombucha qas great. Abundant outdoor seating made relatively comfortable with misters, fans and shade makes this place appealing for group events. Our Human Design Tribe Meetup was good and everyone enjoyed the venue. There was no pressure from wait staff, and we enjoyed hanging out for a couple of hours .

The fried shrimp rice bowl is a must. The shrimp is coated with the best sauce Ive tried and elevates the shrimp. Its delicious. I don t find myself here much anymore and I m starting to realize why. I still love their energy, but the food has continued to get cheaper and sloppier over time. Drinks are a bit heavy on the dilution, but that s been the case for a long time. Great spot! Wish they had a single bike rack. It s pretty damn easy to bike to from anywhere but it s awkward as hell to lock to their front fence thing and that doesn t fit that many bikes. I found the food to be okay. The burger was good and fries were pretty standard. If you get the burger, just know that it doesnt come with a side and if you order fries they are $7. I wasnt pleased with their cocktails. They didnt have the best flavor. If you dont like the taste of alcohol, then these are for you. Had a little trouble with the service. One of the waitresses was pretty rude to our friend, but everyone else was really friendly. Its a great place to hang out back with friends and your fur babies. I would recommend trying it.

We only came to Kinda Tropical for a Bloody Mary. The ingredients were not the ones listed on the menu, but it was still good. Looking at other tables dining, the food looked pretty fresh and ample portions. We will probably come back and sample the brunch menu. One drawback is the bathroom. The food and drinks here are ok at best. The review Im leaving is entirely based on the extremely rude that staff that works here. If you want any bit friendly service don t even bother with this place. I met up with a friend here, walked up to the bar, made eye contact with the bartender and was about to order and he gave me a dirty look like he didn t want me there or that it was a chore to even serve me. He ignores me right after Ive waved and made direct eye contact. He chats with another customer on the other end of the bar instead of helping me. Weird and confusing but okay. He comes back over to the side of the bar I was on, didn t want to acknowledge that I was ready to order until I asked again that I wanted to order a drink. Asked for a Paloma, bartender reluctantly wants to make it for me and rolls his eyes. Hes clearly agitated about something that has nothing to do with me but I ve never been so confused and fed up so quickly that I just said never mind, forget it, and we went somewhere else. It was such a strange interaction and experience. I can understand if someone is having a bad day at work but I did absolutely nothing to provoke an attitude that would give me treatment like this. If you re so miserable at your job that anyone showing up is ruining your day, get it together and find another job. Kinda Tropical is a little pricey for how awful and rude the staff here are. There s plenty other places, with much friendlier service and staff, that I will gladly spend my money at on the East side. The list is long. I don t see myself coming back here ever again nor would I bother to recommend this place to friends or family.

Cute little lunch spot close to the airport! Came here right after I landed and I ordered the curly fries, and shrimp! Both were 10/10 The shrimp was actually amazing and the sauce on top was chefs kiss the rice was flavorful too! The curly fries were hot, crispy and the garlic aïoli was sensational. When you first walk it seems ok. Staff wasn t too enthused to serve. The food was very good though, we really enjoyed it. The whole visit was pretty good until we left to cash out. I asked one guy if I should cash out with him and he gave me the biggest attitude and said I m cutting pineapple does it look like I can cash you out?! At first glance while I was approaching, I did not see him cutting the pineapple because the counter was higher than his table, so excuse me for asking the guy standing next to the register a simple question. He needs to be away from people with that horrible attitude. There was more to this rude encounter but pretty much he was ugly. Love the food and bev, but the staff s energy is OFF. Went a year ago and had two incredibly rude bartenders. Went last night at first the cashier was just super cold and standoffish but kinda ended up warming up by the time I settled my tab. The person who brought us the food didn t even acknowledge us when we thanked them and avoided eye contact. As someone who spent over a decade in the service industry, I get its busy, it s hot but when a guest is going out of their way to be nice to you, least you could do is acknowledge them. Great food but the customer service definitely needs some adjusting. Figured I d give it another shot over a year later because maybe the first time was just an off night. My one complaint though was it took nearly a hour to get our food. It wouldn t have been an issue if they set that expectation when I made my order. Great place for an afternoon drink. Never crazy busy. The wings are amazing, but the curly fries are nothing to brag about. Drinks are good, their spicy cucumber margarita is amazing! Cute photo booth available to use.

Huge outdoor space but not a lot of shade so only usable really in the evening. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Had a happy hour drink and its just way too small for $9 gone in 3 minutes. There are beer options however.

This place is laidback and fun! The Draft Zombie was really good sipping and not too sweet which was great. Now, the Fried Shrimp was a treat. It was crispy, chewy and cooked to perfection, and had a slight sweetness in the flavor. The rice was the best I ve had in a while, it was soft, dense, and the flavor of coconut was perfectly balanced. I really liked the pickled onions in the mix too, it cut the sweetness nicely. Fries came out a bit cold. I will definitely be returning here.

We ordered the chicken sandwich, which was just 3 previously frozen chicken strips like youd buy at the store with a little sauce which was mainly soaked into the dry, untoasted bun. It had a few cilantro leaves & a piece of cheese melted to the bun, not the chicken - so the chicken fell out while eating it. The spicy curly fries were fine and so were the yucca fries. Service was rushed when ordering (not exactly a friendly place) and then when food was delivered the server had no idea what type of sauce he brought us with the yucca fries or if the sauce was vegan and he didnt offer to find out until we asked him to. He came back with another cup of sauce and said it was vegan but no clue what kind of sauce it was. This place seems very cool from the outside but the food & the service would keep me from returning again.

I went to this place only once and that was enough. Their customer service is not great. When I arrived I asked where I could order, and the woman working there pointed to the bar. Then I asked the bartender what the wifi password was and he pointed to the wall. No words exchanged. Even when I ordered, there was minimum interaction. I only stayed because I was meeting friends there and didnt want to change location last minute. The paloma drink is a draft drink and tastes terrible. I only took two sips, didnt drink the rest. The burger is good though and for that I gave one star. I forgot to close my tab when I left and when I checked my bank statement I noticed an overcharge. I called and spoke to the assistant manager who questioned the honesty of my statement when I shared about the overcharge. He then told me to call back later to speak to the owner. I called back and spoke to the owner and shared my experience. He seemed somewhat apologetic, shared that there was an automatic tip charge, and told me he would refund me everything based on my experience. That was two weeks ago and still havent received the refund. Overall, just not a good experience, terrible customer service, and an owner who cant keep his word. SMH.

Great vibe here! We came for the classic car meet they have every other Monday evening and it was fun! We got a few of their house cocktails which were tasty, fairly priced and the shishito peppers and yucca fries. The shishitos were a little overcooked and over seasoned but the yucca was 10000. it took a while for them to get to us but it was busy so understandable. Would come back.

I ve had the burger and the jackfruit sandwich here and both were mid. The jackfruit was way too sour and needed something sweet to balance the flavor. I liked the texture though. The burger is just not good. They have some hits on the menu like the yucca fries. I can get behind the creativity and expansive options, however the items individually are hit or miss.

Came here to enjoy some drinks and food and work with friends. The burger is SO GOOD!! There was also the option to switch to a veggie patty. Highly recommend getting it. It s pretty big and will fill one person up. The spicy cucumber margarita is delicious and refreshing, but not super strong. You can t taste the liquor in it, which I like being able to taste, so maybe ask for a floater.
