Such a nice place for brunch. No wonder it requires reservation always full . The food is great I have never had a smoked pickled carrot ( rice bowl from the menu ). Portions are big and you will have enough even if its only a salad. Food

Pros - Stunning space - Magical atmosphere - Outstanding quality fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice - Steak frites night is a wonderful experience Cons - They have a habit of cancelling reservations to accomodate private events (this has happened to us at least 3 times for reservations we made 3+ months in advance - very unbecoming for a restaurant of this caliber) - Food is eye-wateringly overpriced Ultimately, Josephine House cant be counted on - even if you have reservations

This place is an absolute gem! The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and I can t say enough about the pastry selection specifically, the strawberry matcha tea cake was *phenomenal*! To top it all off, they are super dog-friendly, which is a huge plus for me. I brought my pup, and he was perfectly welcome on the patio (leashed, of course!). It s such a cozy spot with great food and a great atmosphere. I ll definitely be coming back!

My friend and I walked in and were seated outside within 10mins. We saw that the lemon ricotta pancake and grit were highly recommended, so we ordered that and we were not disappointed. The pancake was fluffy and not too sweet; it was the right amount of everything! The shrimp and grit was absolutely delicious; very unique taste. I would definitely come back here for sure! Parking: It s in the middle of a residential street so you have to park on the street and it can be hard to find parking close by.

The restaurant was styled like a house, which I loved for its beautiful and cozy atmosphere. We went there for brunch and ordered shrimp and grits, and steak and eggs. The shrimp were jumbo but tasted a bit off, possibly not fresh enough or not of high quality. However, the grits were outstanding really delicious. The steak was good but very chewy, even though I asked for it to be cooked medium. The red chimichurri sauce didn t complement the steak and had an unpleasant taste; the original green chimichurri would have been a better choice. Before the main dishes, we ordered a butter croissant and a strawberry matcha tea cake. The croissant was too flaky and hard to tear, but the tea cake was perfect delicious and not too sweet, making it a perfect light dessert. Our server was awkward with us at the beginning, but she and the other staff were friendly and provided good service. The parking lot was very limited, so you might have to park on the street. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

I recently visited Josephine House for brunch and had a delightful experience. The atmosphere was adorable and inviting, making it a great spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a relaxed weekend morning. The lemon ricotta pancakes were absolutely amazing - fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. A must-try! However, I was a bit disappointed by the limited vegetarian options on the menu. There were only a few choices, which was a shame given the otherwise impressive offerings. Overall, Josephine House is a lovely spot with great food and a wonderful vibe. If they expand their vegetarian options, it would be a 5-star experience for sure!

This is a super cute breakfast joint with a really refined menu. The service is kind and light and is helpful where they can. The atmosphere is also nice and pretty and does a great job at setting a nice setting. The lemonade was nice but felt more like lemon juice + sparkling water instead of being premixed so after drinking a bit, the lemon was gone and it was just sparkling water. The pancakes were also delicious but weirdly was super hot in one place and kind of burned my mouth but nothing an alpha can t handle. Other than that, majority of their seating was outdoors which is nice but when we get hit we the Austin weather it can be really difficult. Still a great breakfast joint that I d love to go to again !

Cute and very quaint breakfast/brunch spot tucked away in the Clarksville neighborhood. Perfect for a ladies brunch or for a brunch date. We sat on the patio and the breeze was just perfect. They have fans and heaters for the cooler months. They always have an assortment of fresh pastries. Huevos Rancheros were delicious. The yogurt granola bowl was light and paired perfectly with the seasonal apricot brioche. We didn t have a reservation, but arrived right at opening at 9am on Saturday morning and were sat right away with an option to sit at the bar or the outside patio.

West Lynn is a pretty part of Austin. Josephine house is a pretty restaurant in a pretty part of Austin. I felt pretty just sitting there sipping my golden milk tea ( which has no milk nor tea.) The food was hit or miss for me, but overall enjoyable. It s an excellent place to come and have a cup of wine, a nice cocktail or one of their many decaffeinated herbal drinks. I had the brussels sprouts and shishito peppers to start. I loved it as a Shishito pepper dish. I could ve done without the Brussels. I didn t think they added anything, for me. I had the curry octopus as my main. I love the curry, the roasted tomatoes, the salad, and the butter that it came with. The flavor on the octopus was great, but for me, the texture was off. There is something oddly fatty about this octopus to me (that may be a me thing, though.) I would eat the roast tomato curry salad with butter that I had every day - that was exquisite. I feel like this place would shine at brunch. The service was fine, but that s all I could say about it. Frankly it was a little bit beneath what I was expecting given the area, ambience, and the price point. If I were at the local coffee shop across the street or even the galaxy Café, the service would ve made more sense to me. There is no parking to speak of only four seats at the bar maybe 20 inside 30 if you re being generous. The outside seating makes up for 2/3 of the tables.

If you havent experienced Monday Night Steak Frites at Josphine House then you are missing out!!! My husband and I stopped in not realizing that they have a pre fixe menu Mondays and I am so glad that we did. For our first course I had the wedge salad which was excellent and he had the chilled crab gazpacho which was AMAZING. We both had the steak tartare for our main. It was delicious with their own personal spin to make it memorable. And the best part? House wine is included in the price. Put this on your calendar for next Monday!

Shrimps were large and fresh We got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. This was the move! Light, fluffy, not too sweet. Delicious!

We loved this place. The service was amazing, food was outstanding but I don t like being misled. We got there on a Sunday for a 4 o clock reservation and was told brunch ended at 1:30pm and dinner didn t start til 5pm. They had only had 5 snack items on the menu. Needless to say we almost walked out. We decided to give it a chance and my wife ordered one item and I ordered another. Both dishes were outstanding. Food wise I have no complaints, service was great but please update your meal times. My wife and I went out of our way to enjoy a kid free meal at your establishment and the meal times were inconsistent. We almost wasted one of few kid free days.

We liked going to Josephine House which is within walking distance of our house. I took a long-time client and friend there for brunch. She and have been supportive of the restaurant since opened. Unfortunately, I feel like the MML group is trying very hard to build wealth and an empire of restaurants not paying attention to what is making them money. The food is very mixed and not good. I feel an obligation to speak out. The service was good and I tipped 25% but the food was not that good. We ordered three brunch items neither one of the dishes were good. Even the coffee was not good. Knowing it is hard to get a reservation and very expensive I was disappointed. A year ago I quit going to Sweetish Hill for the same reason, the food quality was mixed. Then later I learned their focus was to buy all the real estate on the block and build 10 million dollar condos, not the food. That is called forgetting core of your business and focus.

I came here many years ago and loved it. I decided to check it out again and was not very impressed with the service this time. The food was good however there was dust or fuzz that was on all of the plates and cups so everything ordered had to have dust removed before eating/drinking. The thing that really bothered me was I came in for my reservation and the person who came in behind me and checked in AFTER me got seated BEFORE me. We had the same amount of people in our parties. It just makes me sad/disappointed to think that if I may have just been lighter in skin tone this wouldn t have happened. I miss the warm Texas vibes no place in Austin has that anymore just Californians. Entitled, rude, and definitely felt racist. Yikes I guess on to the next one.

If youre not white or Asian, I would avoid this place. We checked in for our reservation on time. A woman came in behind us and checked in after us. We were told to wait because our table wasnt ready yet. A table cleared out and was bussed, the hostess then sat the all white party of 3 who checked in after us. The reservations are in 15 minute spans. Either the person who checked in after us, with an incomplete party, was over 20 mins late for their reservation and were seated before us or they were given a table before us even though we arrived before they did. Not sure why this happened but one can only assume I suppose. I will not support a racist establishment.

The price tag shouldnt be a shocker next to Jeffries, but honestly I love having multi-course meals like this and when we left, it was less than I expected to spend--Im looking forward to trying their brunch. So loud that I could barely have a conversation with the person next to me! Ricotta pancakes are delicious, but $20 for 3 average sized pancakes and a few pieces of fruit?!! My mother ordered an earl grey tea. It was SIX DOLLARS. For a cup of hot tea?!! I get that businesses are recovering from the pandemic and that hospitality was particularly hard hit, but $72 for 2 entrees, a cappuccino and a tea is outrageous. I had a better and less expensive meal in PARIS! So sad what has happened to Austin.

Food was good, but the staff is a little too relaxed IMO with guests it s still a restaurant where you ll drop 100 bucks for brunch if you re lucky. Attached is a picture of my pants after I patted them down with water. I didn t want it to have to come to this and go full Keran mode, but I am pretty upset at the fact that I never got a call back or an apology. It definitely burned my leg and ruined my pants.

The look of this place is beautiful, attention to details that makes a difference. My burrata was absolutely delicious, the elements in that dish all combined in my mouth was a new amazing experience. The avocado toast was also good, nothing extraordinary and my cappuccinos were perfect. The attitude of our redhair waitress was not the best when we arrived. I dont know if she was having a bad day but as a customer I shouldnt feel a bother when asking for things (sugar, butter) and her face showed that. But we only showed kindness and thanked every time so her attitude changed at the end when she finally asked if the food was good. Im not sure if I would come back here, probably only to eat that burrata again.

Everything we had was tasty, from the pancakes to the huevos rancheros. That said, the price point of $20+ for good but not especially memorable food is unfortunate. The space itself is bright and airy while still feeling homey. There are better places to spend too much on brunch in Austin but if you find yourself here there s plenty on the menu to enjoy.

Made a lunch visit and was surprised at the brunch menu but found several interesting dishes to consider. The service is great and quality of the food good. The pancakes had been recommended which I will need to try on a return visit. The Lox is house made and good but could have been enhanced with a mustard and dill sauce as it was a bit bland. Parking: This is a neighborhood gem of a restaurant with only on street parking save for a few spots and handicap parking.

Service is amazing and you definitely need a reservation. They have some outdoor seating that is dog friendly. This is definitely the place you want to go for unique dishes and a local atmosphere!

I came to Austin for a 9 day vacation to see family and friends. Im a pretty big foodie and this was my best stop. I actually took a Lyft into Clarksville just to grab a bite at this quaint cottage. I had the Rice Bowl with forbidden rice, roasted briccollini, pickled carrots, arugula, guacamole, poached egg, and a side of 3 jumbo Gulf shrimp. They inadvertently cleared my table before bringing my check and offered me a baked good on the house. I picked the blueberry banana bread.

I have always had a good experience at this restaurant, however today my friend and I met for a reservation at 11a for lunch. We were asked to leave the table at 12:15p due to another reservation. I have never had this experience in all of my years. We tipped well over 25% prior and then were asked if we could move on. Very rude. This has been a go to for me and my friends to celebrate birthdays, etc. If we were only allowed 1 hr and 15 min. at the restaurant we should have been noticed that prior.

This place has ruined steak nights for me! I decided to treat myself to an early, nice dinner. I was craving steak and found Josephine House offers a Monday night steak night. It is fantastic. I sat at the bar. It is a 3 course meal with wine throughout. I got the chicken mousse, filet, and chocolate cake. It was Incredible. The mouse was light and paired awesome with the side salad. The filet had a Smokey taste and was cooked to perfection alongside a mountain of fries. The chocolate tart was decadent and beautifully made. The bartender was kind and not overbearing. Fantastic place. The parking kinda sucks though.

Leave my house, shut the front door, go to Josephine House and just never leave. If I could this is exactly what I would do. The shrimp and grits, steak and eggs and the ricotta pancakes are out of this world, and Im gonna have some trouble eating anything else in the next couple of weeks. The coffee is great and the lemonade is wonderful. Service is impeccable and the location is beautiful. Parking can be a bit of an issue but driving around the neighborhood looking for a spot almost makes this a Clarksville experience destination. Dont sleep on the brunch at Josephine House.

This was one of the best meals I have had in Austin. My husband and I visited this delightful place on a Monday afternoon, just in time to try their brunch menu. We sat outside, under a covered patio, with cushioned benches. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and the rice bowl with gulf shrimp. It. was. divine. The rice bowl came with rich brown wild rice, a poached egg, cherry tomatoes, arugula, cabbage, cauliflower, guacamole, and best part - sweet pickled white asparagus. The flavors complimented one another perfectly. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the perfect balance of tart and sweet. The lemon ricotta wasnt too overpowering and the stack of 4 pancakes were the perfect size. I would absolutley recommend this place!

Ok, the place is nice, but that doesn t give the right to the stuff to make the clients feel unwanted. Since we arrived we were treated like we didn t belong there, they left us waiting for long periods of time without checking on us and had to get up several times to remind about our order because they had forgotten things. I don t know if it was because we are minorities or because we weren t wearing suites but we felt really unwelcome. Will not go back!
