Overpriced. Vegan, so no egg whites for your whiskey sour. 20% mandatory service charge AND the receipt they give you to sign asks how much you want to tip. Cant imagine how many souls accidentally tipped 40%+

As a mom of two, I don t get out much and don t drink many cocktails. So if I do get a chance to go out, I m extremely picky about where I go. Drink Well is my go-to. I literally have never had a bad drink here. The waitstaff is kind and food is good to boot!

This is one of the best bars I have ever been to. The hospitality was phenomenal. The drinks were creative and absolutely delicious. The knowledge that the bartender had was beyond amazing. The music was a perfect and the food was delicious. The menu was simultaneously diverse but full of hits left and right. The attention to detail and the level of care is obvious. If they had a two hour wait I would wait. This was a stellar recommendation from my friend and I will definitely be coming back soon. I had the absolute pleasure to have Care take care of me at the bar 10/10 experience.

One of my favorite places to grab an amazing cocktail, not only is the service always amazing but the drinks and the food are continually superb. The gin gimlet is my absolute favorite and the house made lime cordial is out of this world. Ashley, one of the waitresses there is also an absolute angel and loaned me her jacket on a chilly night on the patio. Can you even ask for anything better than that? Every server that we ve had is a true gem, and every bartender is an artist, I cannot advocate for this place enough.

Drinks, food and service are amazing and deserve 5 stars. 3 star review though because paying the tab got weird. Maybe i misunderstood their policy but + 20% is included, which is fine as gratuity but the tab says 20% isn t gratuity?? It s living wage and you should tip on top of that. So you re now sticker price +40%? Yikes. Just increase your prices to what you need to pay & insure your people and then let customers tip as they will. Or, do what I ve seen with most other living wage hospitality places and add the % but discourage tips. Looking to get +40% on a restaurant tab feels like I just went in to buy a used car and left feeling gouged.. in short, if you need $16.80 for my $14 drink just price it at $16.80. I would still pay it but as an informed decision.

This establishment is one that charges a 20% service fee that explicitly is not a tip but supposedly intended to pay for basic benefits of their employees, which should instead be reflected in the price of goods, not slipped in on the back end without any prior notice. It s an unethical way for them to continue to underpay employees while shafting their customers.

Weve been stopping here occasionally over the past few years. Im a bit of a classic cocktail nut, from the side of trying new things and expanding our repertoire for our home bar. Let me tell you, Ive never asked for something they didnt know, couldnt make, or didnt end up delicious. Remarkable selection and impressive cocktail knowledge can be found at DrinkWell. Oh, and their french fries are on point! Lastly, I love the pendant lamps over the bar. I own a custom car shop, and immediately recognized the welding gas bottle valve caps used as shades... love it!

This is my favorite bar in Austin by far, and really just the best bar Ive ever been to - which is why I keep coming back. The cocktails are absolutely phenomenal and truly best-in-class, the food is regularly spectacular, and the people who work here are just some of the most lovely and fantastic people in the industry. This is my home away from home aka my evening office when I need to work late for my corporate gig (which is regularly) and want to grab dinner and a drink while I power through. When Im not working here, its my go-to place to take friends to catch up or out-of-towners looking for somewhere to grab a great drink with top-notch service. The upscale but warm and approachable ambiance makes it an easy choice to be a regular here. Every part of their seasonal menu is thought out and planned with immense consideration and care and it shows. The owner runs the bar ethically and she ensures that the staff is paid a fair wage and have benefits like insurance. Truly love this spot and would highly recommend it.

Modern, small space where it shows the staff very much cares that the cocktail program is on point. My drink was well balanced memorable, even as a classic. Even when busy, staff provides attention to every guest. Its a rare find. Indoors only, no patio. No dogs since all indoor seating. Wheelchair easy. $10 to $12 for classics and $15 or so for inventive cocktails. Industry folks will appreciate the menu of all housemade cordials.

Once upon a time, I asked cocktail bartenders where they go for cocktails and all roads lead back to DrinkWell. Recently I had a rum drink there which tasted more like cough syrup until I realized the dehydrated pineapple was edible, not just for show. As soon as those flavors mixed, I realized the brilliance of their recipes. Cant afford to get drunk here, but thats why Workhorse exists. DrinkWell is best for one drink in an intimate setting. Parking: North Loop has more thrift stores than parking spots. Be courteous when you park in the neighborhood.

Cozy, intimate, but lively atmosphere. It is very small inside but it s worth the wait to hold out for a table inside. Cocktails were perfect- the menu is always rotating and the original cocktails that we tried were all homeruns. Great place for conversation or post-dinner drinks. I do not agree with the establishment s tipping policy of charging a 20% service fee AND ALSO making a point to say that is not a tip nope, THAT IS the tip. Great cocktails and service but you make me feel guilty for not adding 40% on top of my total- which is **wild** and very 2023. I don t want to come back for that reason alone.

Drinks were great. They were strong, balanced and beautifully presented! The food dishes were not so great far from it actually. The burger patties appeared to have been commercially made and frozen. The fries were inconsistently cooked think hard and crunchy for some and soggy for others. The gnocchi was served in a tiny bowl with tomato soupy thing. The salad was sour. Great pre-dinner spot. Terrible for dinner. They were also out of half the menu.

A customer for years, I love the location, staff, and drinks. Wonderful place. I am, however, disappointed in the quality/ price of the burger and fries. Overpriced for the quality (both are only okay). Youll probably be fine ordering anything else on the menu. Also, their 20% pre-tax charge is great BUT the language communicating it is terrible. Great for staff, I suppose, but confusing to customers. Reading through the comments and responses from the business, there seems like disconnect that can easily be solved. LOca Doros language around their 20% pre-tax charge is super clear and courteous to their customers. But Drinkwells language is not clear. That may be on purpose to provide higher wages to their employees, which is understandable. But, as it is phrased, it is not clear to the customer that the tip line is optional. My suggestion would be to use the same language as LOca Doro as a courtesy to your customers.

On the continuum of upscale cocktail bars pretending that they arent upscale cocktail bars, DrinkWell has passed the event horizon of forgetting why it exists and is well on its way to being sucked into the gravitational vortex of the customer should be grateful we have deigned to serve them that, in any universe with pretensions toward Justice, precedes collapse. Upon entering this cozy gastropub presenting eclectic plates, the server informed us that the wait would be thirty minutes, but did so in a tone of voice that suggested thirty is a number of minutes that should deter undesirables, and with the annoyed air of someone who felt that we -- absolutely typical overeducated bourgeois white-collar Austin nobodies -- might be undesirable. We asked whether we could park at what appeared to be tables but might have been ironically placed wheels with ceiling-to-floor poles in them, and (perhaps!) order from the bar. At this point we were demoted from Undesirable to Heretic and told in no uncertain terms that we could, in fact, stand at those tables but that EVERYWHERE IS TABLE SERVICE ONLY and also that we could have NO FOOD until the aforementioned-and-rapidly-becoming-interminable thirty minutes had passed. This was all OK with us. We ordered drinks! He brought us drinks. Maybe things will be OK after all. My companion glanced at her drink, saw that it was the type that might should have a straw in it but had arrived straw-less, and walked over to the bar to retrieve a straw, which was in a container of the type that holds straws perhaps 2/3 of the way from the near side of the bar. It is helpful at this point in the story to mention that she was not only no stranger to bars, but also employed to tend them and the sorts of things that go on and around them. Moments later, the server -- lets call him Brant, which is probably not his name -- abandons serving the So Busy Theres a Thirty (THIRTY!) Minute Wait Crowd and comes over to us to explain that, under no circumstances are we to ever reach behind the bar, and that if we need anything, BRANT WILL GET IT; and, perhaps, we were unfamiliar with how Bars function, so he stood there and painstakingly explained why our transgression was as severe as it was, occupying many additional seconds and a Im not mad, Im just disappointed paternal scowl but also failing to illustrate exactly what the doomsday scenario might look like where patrons could help themselves to straws with reckless abandon. He did not detail what Pandoras Box wed opened or the nature of the pandemonium wed just allowed into what (prior to our arrival) had been the blissful sanctuary of DrinkWell but which now, sans the hermetic seal of Thou Shalt Not Pass Thy Arm Past The Centerline Of The Bar, was a cauldron of craft cocktail catastrophe. If I hadnt have been so astonished to be adjacent to the receiving end of a lecture by the High Priest of DrinkWell on the inviolability of straws, Id have thrown the overpriced mediocrity in my glass into his face. I regret the processing delay that robbed me of the opportunity. +2 1/2 stars for ambience

We like this place good cocktails. However this is a very stressful thing to push onto your customers. You put a 20% wellness fee and say it s not a gratuity guilting your customers to effectively pay double tip. Is this your way of getting 40% tip from people? I mean hats off to you I guess but it s pretty slimy. Maybe just charge what it costs.

One of my favorites in Austin. Excellent bartenders pouring balanced cocktails, I would basically throw a dart at the drink list and then start. For food, I actually think the veggie burger is better than the meat burger (in both cases I add an egg). The Brussels sprouts are really popular as they are very good. I also had their special, a tahini cake ball I think, which was an excellent last morsel. The five stars for sure is for the drinks and the ambience: a classy neighborhood bar.

Drinks are stupidly expensive here, but they are good. Snacks are solid.

Service is strong, cocktails are creative and tasty and not overly priced like much of Austin. Some solid food choices but this is mainly a cocktail bar.

Only been twice but every drink Ive tried has been excellent. Good variety in terms of cocktails (not sure about the beer/wine) and nice feel inside. Staff has been super nice and accommodating, but they stay pretty steady/busy so be prepared to wait, especially if youre in a bigger group.

Amazing spot! Great atmosphere, drinks, and snacks. Staff was incredible. It got super busy but they kept up with the demand for cocktails. Never felt like we had to wait for long which was really unexpected given the main type of drinks they serve. 10/10 recommend.

Great drinks and great ambience. The food has tons of gf and veggie options for those who are so inclined and is super tasty. The cocktails rotate seasonally and the latest options are great for the rare cold weeks we have. The mac n cheese with mushrooms was one of my favorite dishes I ve had in Austin. We met a couple of friends to chat and chill, and this place was perfect for that mission. The ambience is great and we never felt rushed but got everything we needed quickly. We will definitely be back for a weeknight dinner. No reservations here, so suggest going on an off day or expecting a wait.

Great experience at this place. Friendly bartenders, great menu for food and drinks and super good happy hour. Cocktails were really good and theyre also willing to create a cocktail for you and I love places where we have the freedom to order that and the bartenders have the willingness and creativity to make other drinks not on the menu. It gets packed and its a pretty small place but very inviting. The fries were yummy and crispy, the brussel sprouts were yummy too but too salty and the butternut squash puree just didnt belong in the dish.

Great little spot for drinks and some really surprising small plates. Cocktails are always spot on and the staff is great. The burger was a pleasant surprise, as was the mac and cheese. Not the biggest spot, so you may have a wait if you wanna sit inside.

Excellent cocktails. The food was very good, but all four of us ordered very different items and we all agreed that everything was way too salty. [rant] I get it, anyone who watches the Food Network can tell you you have to salt your food, but when you pony up for chefy food that you expect to be excellent, your takeaway shouldnt be thats really salty. Dear chefs: Lay off the GD salt! [/rant]

Food and drinks are good, but their tipping culture is very strange and unclear. As a former service industry worker I can appreciate the importance of a solid tip, and want to support the service staff, but here they call it a service charge of 20%, explain how it s for a living wage and for health insurance , which I fully support, but then give you a bill with a tip line??? Is this gratuity? Why call it a service fee? Then when asked the staff is not helpful. So I m supposed to tip additional 20% on top? If you pay your staff a living wage, just get rid of the tip line to not confuse people. I hate the tipping culture and think every restaurant should simply pay their staff a living wage, but then just say that, don t make the customer who s trying to help feel weird. Won t be going back until they get rid of this confusion.

My favorite bar in Austin! DrinkWell has such a cozy, speakeasy feel and I m always 100% about the atmosphere. But for all of you foodies, you can t go wrong here: the cocktails and eats are both equally delicious. The best times to visit are happy hour or for post dinner drinks!
