Always a great place to bring the dogs for some running and wrestling, or just hop on the trail and take a walk around the lake. This is also the spot for many great festivals like ACL, Fun fun fun fest, Trail of Lights, etc. Its a great area if you live here or you are just passing through. Dog-friendliness: The North side of the park is off leash and always filled with dogs!

Hersheys and I cant get enough of this place. Great place to hang out, picnic, people watch, walk the dog, meet other dogs ( if your dog is friendly), take a swim, rent a canoe out paddle board. Some days I have been able to count 30+ dogs off leash having the time of their lives. Its a must see sight to see that many dogs off leash all getting along and greeting each other. Did a mention the great view of the skyline of downtown Austin?

Great place for dogs, variety of nice trails and open grass fields. Love going here with my dog and friends! The restrooms are kept up well, and the amount of space for nice picnic areas is a plus. Toilets: Great upkeep, clean and tidy. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome here, people will make friends with other dog owners and even the dogs can meet some friends! Picnic area: Literally so many spots for picnics! All have nice views of downtown!

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful and perfect park spaces in the United States? Just an abundance of space all around perfect for biking, running, walking, hiking, walking dogs, group events, kiddo stuff. ACL fest is the crown Jewel of music festivals but the Kite Fest, Trail of lights, Blues on the Green and so much more events are awesome as well! All of the paddle-board rental places are good but Rowing Dock is the best. Be kind to the trail! Toilets: Bathrooms are available, not always in the best shape. Dog-friendliness: Dog is wildly pet friendly. Certain parts of the park are off leash. Picnic area: Plenty of picnic spaces throughout the park

The botanical garden at Zilker Park is a nice quiet getaway from the rest of the hustle and bustle of Austin. Its also very shady in a good portion of it, so it can also be a nice way to be outside, without being completely cooked by the sun/heat of Texas. The prehistoric and Asian sections are by far the best parts of the gardens. Lush and full of nice features like koi ponds and waterfalls. Absolutely worth a visit if youre in Austin.

The parking near the pool was undergoing some construction the Thursday that we went, so we had to park in a lot further away. As well, we found that the pool is closed for lifeguard training every Thursday, so we went to the free section just downstream. No real place to keep your items and its pretty rocky but it was fine nonetheless. On the other side of the water there is a little more room to put your gear and bag of you need to. The moss on the rocks makes for some tough walking so bring some water shoes. Oh, the parking area had a pay meter, but you dont have to pay on weekdays if I remember correctly.
