This is a great place to walk and relax. The only problem is the neighbors that refuse to respect the no dogs rule. Please dont bring your dog back here to poo in the nature preserve.

We found some interesting animals during our hike. Nice trail, not all flat so wear appropriate shoes. Take a trash bag, glove or grabber if you dont mind picking up a little. Since the water is down, the waterfall is minimal.

Dont expect a hike because this is not a trail for it but it is excellent when you are stressed out to go for a quick walk on a safe trail. Almost a mile roundtrip.

There s not really a parking lot anymore. Just a deadened street. The entry into the old parking lot is blocked off. However, it is a nice short paved trail through cedar trees with benches along the way and a deck at the end.

There is a crazy man who whos often found in the park, and if you bring your pet in there - he will EAT YOUR PET. Especially if it is a DOG and especially especially if it is a cat. Especially if it is not on a leash, because there are endangered species that can also eat your dog or cat. So that is why the sign in the park says that no pets are allowed in the park. Also because the park needs protection from house-builders and also our planet needs our protection and we should treat the planet like a member of our family, even a son or daughter.

This is a spectacular trail when the winter blizzard jewelry came through in 2021. And how iconic it was to see the snow and the ice on the trails and I wasnt really a risk of slipping or tripping. nice to slide on it down the hills a little bit being exuhberated on a very scenic route and at the end is a little bit of a valley with trees and also if youre very careful theres some deer that come through here we loved it going here

Very short, shaded, and paved pathway with a half dozen benches along the route makes it a good option for young toddlers and those with slight mobility impairments. The end of the trail finishes with a steeper slope and no hand rails, so avoid that portion based on your partys ability level.

We went and did this in between doctors appointments because the trail is a short one. Starts out a typical Hill Country trail with scrub oaks and junipers. Theres a cave/hole that is fenced off all but two times a year where the city opens the gates so people can view the hole that looks like a well. Theres a nice deck that overlooks the creek that is fed from the spring. Lots of walnut trees near the deck. Entrance is a trick to find as its at the end of a short residential street and not well marked.best use Google Maps. We didnt even see a sign at any of the streets that lead to to entrance. Residential development all sides except as you approach the observation deck but theres enough canopy and trees to keep most from view. Trail barely descends until about a quarter mile from the deck and then is only a moderate incline down then back up. Could occupy an hour if youre there to observe but only 15 minutes if youre there for exercise.

This small nature preserve nestled in a residential neighborhood in Northwest Austin has a single trail about three quarters of a mile in length ending in a small observation platform overlooking the Barrow Preserve. While not a major hike its paved roads are friendly for kids and family and its a nice easy and mostly shaded walk for folks of all capabilities. While there are other recreational areas in Austin with more to do an see this small preserve is a great place to wander at your own pace and relax.

Very small area; takes at most 15-20 to walk from the entrance to the end where its fenced off and you cant proceed any further. No charge to enter which is nice, but as far as free outdoors stuff in Austin goes, you can do better.
