It was great to talk about my concerns and my experience to understand LEGALLY where I sit. Its one thing to have emotions because of a situation, its another thing to act professionally in those times. I appreciate the clear head to review my case and talk through my options.

Terrible Communication from this Law Firm ! After we paid our retainer fee we really didn t hear much back from them . I reached out on this app which is like a group chat with about 6 other lawyers and for days we went without no response . Terrible ! And never got a response when we were trying to do an appeal which lead to an eviction . They gave us wrong information as well . They said we had 10 days as a deadline and it was actually 5 days . To be honest I feel like they were working with the other party on some sneaky BS ! I would never recommend this form to anyone.

Michael was our first experience with an attorney. He was personable, thorough, and greatly reduced the stress of our situation. We could not have achieved the favorable outcome we did without his help, and we are so much better for it. Thank you!

I was represented by Michael late last year during a dispute with my landlord regarding my deposit and have nothing but positive things to say. I was really satisfied with the outcome of my case - I got nearly 3x my deposit back by settling out of court. Highly recommend.

Based on the previous reviews you can tell that some people here have never worked with a lawyer until engaging with this firm - yes it is true that lawyers nickel and dime you for every single email sent or read. It sucks but unfortunately is the reality of what its like when you have to retain an attorney. I contacted MacGeorge Law Firm after my landlord was trying to charge me $19,000 for moving out early due to poor living conditions in a home that was filled with mold in the AC vents. They were threatening to send me to collections and refusing to budge on any sort of negotiation to get the amount lowered. Michael Clardy was one of the most professional and kindest attorneys that Ive worked with and I am so grateful that he was in charge of my case. From day one he made me feel heard and supported and I truly felt like he always had my back and best interest in mind. I didnt ever feel like he tried getting more money from me than needed and he worked hard to avoid us having to go to court so I wouldnt have to spend thousands of dollars on a trial. I am happy to say that after an hour and a half mediation call with the other party and their attorney, I walked away having to pay less than $1,000 of the total amount that the landlord was trying to charge me. I was amazed at how knowledgable Michael was during the call and how much he stepped in to ensure we always had the upper hand when it came to negotiating the charges. I am so glad I retained this firm for this frustrating issue and I would happily pay them a few thousand to represent me rather than having to give any additional money to the unjust property management company I unfortunately had to deal with.

I hired this firm to represent me in a case where a tenant had an unapproved dog in my home that did damage to the home that exceeded their deposit. Tenants sued me to get their full deposit back. Michael Cleary represented me and even after me asking if they ever take landlord cases, he said not often but my case was SO SOLID, that he saw strength of taking it and believed in the case. MacGeorge represented me in small claims (because opposing side had an attorney), AND after n court. I was representd by Michael Cleary. I lost the entire case and had to fork over not only the deposit, but pay the tenants AND my legal fees. It would have been cheaper to just let them have their deposit back if I knew this would be my outcome after LEGAL representation. They damaged my home to the tune of $4500. MacGeorge Law Firm continued to tell me I had a strong case and continue or appeal it (which would have cost upwards of $8000 more as a bond PLUS whatever the attorney and court fes would be. I told him to STOP! I have to STOP the monetary bleed that this case, these idiot tenants and firm is charging me. Communication was sketchy at best, but only until the bill was due. Oftentimes, I would get an invoice to pay TWICE in one month. Not cool. Do NOT hire MacGeorge Law Firm. I was failed at every turn on a case that should have been won or partially won, due to proof, pictures, receipts and damage they did. The firm was more concerned about how many minutes and emails they could charge me for. I had to ask to not be charged to leave a message or just read the email that was NOT being answered. More than $17,000 later, I feel honestly, this firm was more interested in the minutes they could bill the client and of all the ways I couldve/wouldve racked up more legal fees by arguing more or appealing the decision.

I hired this firm just to get back moving costs after having a horrible experience with an apartment complex. I put down money for the initial demand letter, and at that time Jennifer admitted they were having a high turnover and she had to redo a lot of her employees work (which they initially tried to charge me for all of the edits even though she admitted it was due to her staff being incompetent). After the initial demand letter was drafted, of which I had to correct multiple things because they didnt bother looking through all of the evidence I sent them to use, I spent about a year hearing from the billing department more than I ever heard from the team. It ended up costing almost $3k just for them to send two letters. I ended up getting nothing back from the apartment complex, and spent way more money dealing with the law firm. It seems as if they are more concerned about how many ways they can charge their clients instead of actually helping them.

DO NOT HIRE THIS LAW FIRM! They lack integrity. They lack compassion. They lack knowledge of the law. This law firm is a complete and utter failure! Unfortunately for me, my experience mirrors some of the other negative reviews below. Since I m not a lawyer, I called and spoke with Jennifer MacGeorge in November about representing me in an appeals case. She built herself up and talked a lot of trash about the opposing counsel. From my perspective, my case was straightforward. Jennifer agreed. I put down a $6000 retainer, which I thought would get me through a trial. Boy was I wrong. My final bill was $15,000 and they couldn t even get the case to trial. The judge dismissed the case last month because Michael Clardy couldn t follow directions. Michael is the rookie lawyer that was assigned to my case. Just like other reviewers, the MacGeorge law firm nickel and dimed me for every little thing. The invoices I received had multiple message sent/reviewed charges at $25 a pop with no details on what message it was referring to. Half of the charges were for trial preparation and since my case didn t even make it to trial, I asked Michael if he could reduce my charges. I received an email from Jodi in billing. She stated that my account was credited $75 and no more credits would be made. She made it seem like I should be grateful they discounted my bill. Let s do some math. $75 dollars off of $15,000 is a .005% discount. Wow! Thanks Jodi! As a mechanic, I can compare this ordeal to a customer bringing me their vehicle to fix. I tell them that I can fix it and in fact I am the only one that can fix it in this area. All they have to do is give me $6000 up front with a recurring payment plan. I ignore them for 6 months, then tell them that because I don t know how to fill out paperwork, I can t fix their car. BUT I have to charge them $15,000 because I did research on the problem, went to the parts store a couple of times, and read emails. I m sure the customer would be delighted to know that I would take .005% off their bill because I am a complete failure. Oh, and the parts store wants $4500 too. This law firm needs to do the world a favor and stop pretending that they care about tenant rights. According to recent reviews, including mine, they have gone into business in screwing tenants over. They prey on people who need legal assistance for being wronged, only to make the situation much worse. I m sure this law firm is guilty of malpractice. In fact, I wouldn t doubt they were working with the other side just to get more money for themselves. Because if they weren t, then they are just complete idiots when it comes to tenant law. They definitely do not care what s in the best interest of their client. Hopefully, this review will prevent anyone else from making the worst mistake of their lives in hiring MacGeorge or Michael Clardy. I am in the process of filing a grievance with the State Bar of Texas and I encourage others to do the same. The Bar s Grievance Information Helpline is available online.

I absolutely would NOT recommend this law firm based on my experience with them. Do your due diligence before you hire them. -I had a situation where I had to terminate a rental lease early due to my son almost dying from an allergic reaction he kept having when in the home. Even though I provided medical records to prove this, the landlord never responded to my request to remedy, illegally kept my deposit, and charged additional fees that ultimately went to collection, ~$1200. -I hired the MacGeorge firm for one purpose, which was to work on my behalf to have that negative collection item removed from my credit file. -They suggested starting with a demand letter, to which I was told would be $600. It ended up at $1300+....for a simple demand letter. -According to my bill, they charge for every minute they read, reviewed, or typed any communication to me. This is probably standard practice, but it seemed a bit excessive as I had to clarify some of the same information several times to Michael Clardy, the attorney working my case. -Michael sent the demand letter to the property management company, and received no response. -Michael recommended I file suit in county court vs. small claims court, at the tune of ~11k to start (8k in attorney fees, and 3k to file in county court), without a high degree of confidence that Id win the case. -The justification for county court was that they could sue for larger amounts and higher attorney fees (250k limit), vs. small claims court, which was capped (20k limit). -I communicated spending 11-12k to settle a $1200 debt wasnt smart on my end, even if I could win higher amounts. As I communicated with him in the beginning, I simply wanted the $1200 item removed from my credit file. -I was told we could do small claims court, but needed to remove the unfair debt collection practices claim. Again, THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL ASK FROM THE BEGINNING. -In my opinion, they elevated their priorities (higher attorney fees) over what was in the best interest of their client. -Communication during the process was also sketchy at best, that is until the bill was due. Once they closed out my case, I quickly received a follow up email saying I had a bill due, and if not paid promptly, interested would be added, and sent to collections.

My case was dismissed in the JP court simply because: 1-she made a mistake in the petition, according to the judge 2-her team missed a deadline in serving the petition, also according to the judge. The embarrassing mistakes eventually cost me 1000s of $ ... Unfortunately, we had to appeal, and then: 1-they sent me invoices with charges that never occurred, and when I asked them about them and proved to them their mistake, their generated new invoices (literally) showing even more outrageous charges that I have never seen either. 2-because she did not add any value to the case and was actually a drag for me due to slow comms and poor judgment & advice, I had to settle with the other party only because my attorney was incompetent. Avoid her at any cost. Im writing a blog and will include all the emails and docs related to my case to educate people about bad lawyers. If interested, Im happy to share soon. Stay tuned.

I tried to work with the firm. They told me to wait a month but send them my case info to review. 3 weeks later I tried to follow up as my issues were ongoing and I needed professional help. I asked if I could put down a retainer and was told to wait. 3 weeks later I follow up again and was told to wait another month and made it seem like they were doing me a favor by even looking at my case. Eventually they just stopped all communication. I never got the chance to work with them as they did not communicate with me after. Reason this is a 2 star review is the time wasted that I could have used looking for serious legal help. Hopefully they will be able to staff up and be able to help Vets like me in the future or at least tell them they wont help immediately so we can try to find someone who takes our case serious. I wish them the best however and hope they can staff up to match an apparent high demand of legal help. They seem to help others due to their 5 star review, but also have similar issues with cases falling off the table. I have money in hand, ready for any law firm to accept my case and could easily put down 10k if it was necessary so money isnt the issue. As them seem to have success I hope they can grow their business to help people who are being taken advantage of due to market conditions. I dont fault their abilities, just would have preferred quicker communication to either take my retainer or tell me no so I didnt waste precious time as statute of limitations is a serious ticking clock.

I hired Ms. MacGeorge to represent me in a bed bug infestation case. While everything was fine in the beginning and she sent my letter which allowed me to break my lease, she chose to not keep me informed on anything. She did not proceed in negotiations with opposing counsel as I wanted and stated in email. She then refused to respond to me for over a year. She then lost my case (her assistant confirmed this) and dropped me as a client without notifying me. I had to scramble to try and recuperate my lost funds and I subsequently lost my case on a statue of limitations clause. You cannot just take peoples money and then not proceed and ignore your clients. Edit since I cant reply. It wasnt from lack of trying and I did request to move forward with a court case. I emailed and called twice a month to being ignored regularly. Doesnt help that multiple lawyers have admitted you have pulled this behavior before on clients. It isnt my fault you promised to get back to me then didnt.

Found them through the Texas Bar Association. Initially made contact with them on August 3rd, for help with a hearing on August 18th - just a 30 minute phone consult, so I could ask questions and hopefully properly represent myself in the hearing. (Im a techie who started working for a civil law firm when I was 15 years old, in 1987. I could have drafted my own amended petition, with minimal guidance.) Ms. MacGeorges paralegal rescheduled on me 4x, up until 3 hours before my hearing. Then with less than 24 hours before the hearing to go - the firm flaked completely. Throughout that 15 days period I could have been looking for other representation, instead of waiting while this firm kept moving the goalposts. I even spoke with a paralegal two days before the hearing, who told me theyd take my case for $3k, which I was ready to pay. Then the next day (the day of the hearing) that went up to $6k, and they said they couldnt help me, at all. Meanwhile I have emails where the paralegal falsely claims, Attorney Jennifer MacGeorge is one of the only Landlord/Tenant Attorneys in Texas... This is demonstrably false. Look for another attorney, unless you want to lose your case, even when you have mountains of video and written evidence showing a former landlord denied you the legal definition of a private room, and illegally withheld your deposit to rekey locks. The State Bar sent me a survey as well, and you can bet Ill be telling them to never refer anyone to this horribly inconsiderate and unprofessional law firm again.

I have scheduled appointments on several occasions for consultations, and each time the appointment time came and went, prompting me to call in, where I d get the run-around from a secretary. Jennifer wouldn t connect or even call me back after I followed up on the missed appointment! I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt the first couple times it happened, but today was just the last straw. The online calendar and booking system gives the impression of efficiency and order, but is in fact meaningless and untethered to reality, since the appointments do not actually occur. Take your business to an office that is organized and will actually honor appointments.
