I like the experience at Honey Pig. They have these hot circular plate grills and as soon as you walk in, you hear the sound of sizzling meat. Get prepared for a Korean steam bath of goodness. My favorite is the pork belly and LA Beef rib. They serve Korean side dishes, bean sprouts, egg soufflé and salad. My favorite are the pickled radishes and cucumbers. Don t care much for the macaroni salad. They bring meat over and cook it themselves. You have three dipping sauce options which include Sesame oil, Goji Chan and salt. I like mixing it up. It s something different.

If youve never experienced Korean BBQ where your servers are practically grill masters at your table, Honey Pig is about to change your life. Imagine this: You sit down, and suddenly your server becomes a culinary ninja, flipping marinated meats and veggies right in front of your eyes. It s like dining and attending a cooking show, all at once! The service? A+. The servers are friendly, fast, and full of energy seriously, I don t know what they re putting in their kimchi, but I need that level of hype in my life. The real magic happens when they start grilling your food right there at the table. And dont worry, if youre like me and have no idea when pork belly is actually done, these pros have you covered. Youll leave feeling like a BBQ connoisseur, even if you didn t lift a finger! So, if you re in Austin and craving BBQ that comes with a side of entertainment (and by entertainment, I mean perfectly grilled short ribs), head to Honey Pig. Just be prepared to roll out of there, because once you start, you won t stop.

Be Cautious! I recently dined at this restaurant and, unfortunately, had a very concerning experience. While eating my meal, I encountered a sharp object in my food, which the waitress later informed me was probably a shell of shrimp, however I did order beef and octopus BBQ. This is extremely dangerous and unacceptable, as it could have caused serious injury. I was fortunate not to hurt my mouth, but this incident highlights a significant safety issue. I urge others to exercise caution when dining here, and I strongly recommend the restaurant take immediate steps to ensure the safety of its food preparation.

A chef brought us all sorts of complimentary samples and explained what each was. We couldnt get over the freshness and flavors- it was all so incredible. We cant wait to go back! Came across this bbq place and decided to try it for the live bbq experience . The wait time was average and we waited about 20-25 mins on a Friday night which was not too bad . We could track the wait time as well which was good . The ambiance was good and service was okay . We ordered the spicy chicken and tofu soup . Both tasted good but chicken was a bit on the sweeter side . We ordered medium spicy for both and they were tolerable on the spice level . The sides were many and each tasted really good . You have to watch your meat cook and remind them to switch off when cooked as there might be a chance that it would be overcooked if left for a while, especially the chicken . Overall, good experience for a Korean bbq and would return but might not be a regular .

Just got from my first visit (lunch) and very much enjoyed it. First, the restaurant was clean and open with a good atmosphere. They had kpop videos playing from several large screen tvs, not loud enough to be distracting, but enough to add to the ambiance. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and came by periodically to unobtrusively remove empty dishes. I had the lunch combo, which allows you to choose 1 item from 2 groups of selections - I had the pork bulgolgi and the mini spicy buckwheat noodles (naengmyeon). The pork bulgoli was good, but not as spicy as I would have liked, although thats probably my fault as I didnt specify the level of spiciness I wanted, but the spicy naengmyeon was on point. They gave me a good amount of side dishes for a single diner, and I added some of these to my naengmyeon to mix it up and enhance it. Frankly a good amount of food, to the point that I was unsure if I could finish it all - but I managed! :) Will have to bring the family here some time to try the bbq, but Ill definitely be back for the lunch combo!

My son and I intended to grab a bite at HMart but decided to finally try Honey Pig. It did not disappoint! I ordered kalbi beef, and my son ordered Udon soup (it was HUGE), and we ate family style. The service was top-notch. The only thing I could be critical of is the noise level. It was a little difficult to hear others talking. But it certainly wont stop us from going again. Our total bill was $63. We dont eat out often, and when we do, my son prefers sushi. He said he thinks this is his new favorite restaurant.

2nd time here, we have a few options for Kbbq in Austin now and we chose to come to HP for higher quality meats, despite the price, as we remembered having a good experience the first time. Well after a few months of being open, it seems to have gone downhill fast. Maybe we got unlucky with the one staff member who seemed to be having a crappy day with no friendliness at all and seem bothered to have to be there. She did not care about how the meat is cooked - for example, loading up the whole pan and which caused the meat to steam and turn grey, and by the time it has some char on it, the meat was horribly overcooked. Even after all of that though, there was no flavor to anything. So weird. We also ordered the spicy cold noodles; the thinness of the noodles means it s very easy to overcook. So by the time it got to us, it was one giant mess that couldn t even be stirred. The waitress asked if we wanted the noodles cut since we seemed to be having a hard time. Lol. Don t waste your money, no different from AYCE places now. Go to HMart for regular Korean dishes since everything is mid and they can t execute on the basics.

They cook the food for you and she mixed up two of our dishes on the grill. Just mixed them all together. We could barely eat it. It was cooked poorly, dried, and all jumbled. She continued to be incredibly rude for the next 45 mins or so until we finally just wrapped up and left. I brought home leftovers to give to a dog - God knows I wouldnt eat it. I lived in Seoul for several years, and I d say Honey Pig is the real deal. I m pretty sure they even imported the grills and ducting in order to replicate the experience for you. Their attention to detail is really impressive. Let s talk food, the reason you re here: The flavors are legit, and absolutely everything is delicious. The portion sizes are quite generous. Pro tip: if you re unsure of what and how much you want, order the smallest portions of several items and then order more of what enjoyed most. Bonus pro tip: barbecue is next-level delicious if it s wrapped in a lettuce leaf along with a bit of rices and sauces. While eating it that way is super common in Korea, it s not really a thing here. If you d like to try it, ask your server. They ll bring you some. (Only the first basket of lettuce is free, though.) If I had any complaints at all it would be these little things that don t really bother me: there is only one Korean beer option, and it s not recommended. There are more Japanese options, which is odd. Cass, please! The service isn t really up to Korean standards. We ve been here a few times now, and our waiters haven t been able to speak Korean (I don t know some of the English words for some of what I want). They aren t very attentive (a chugiyo button would be helpful), so I feel like I m always having to flag them down for something. Vegetarian options: This is a meat restaurant. The air is literally thick with the smell of burning meat. Probably not my first choice if I were a vegetarian. Parking: Parking can be a bit tricky closer to H Mart, but it s pretty easy to find a spot in this part of the lot. Kid-friendliness: They have a limited kids menu, but the kids love it. The staff will help them grill their meat.

I called at 2:15pm on a Tuesday to ask if they had a lunch special and they said yes until 3:30. I said is that a better deal, because I m bringing my bigger family and they said yes no wait! When we were seated we were just given a regular menu, which had some lunch pricing on one side for rice and noodle and soup dishes. Meat was one set price. I asked if there s any meat on lunch special and they said no. Later, we saw a lunch special menu with a meat combo $40 vs the $99 we just paid. It would have been nice to order several of the lunch specials instead of 2 expensive full price meat combos. Especially because we called to confirm and double check. Other tables around us got the lunch special? Our server was fantastic, Julie. But who seated us - Anne, misinformed us. Maybe there was a miscommunication but when we asked about it, there was no manager and they wouldn t do anything about it. Make sure you ask for a lunch menu so you get the cheaper option if you re here with a bigger group. EDIT: the manager fixed it and honored the lunch special pricing. Really glad they were willing to talk about it

Its a nice Korean BBQ venue. They offer sizable portions of meat, so I recommend going with at least four people if you plan to order more than two types of meat. The portions are generous, and we enjoyed the appetizers that accompanied the meat. The service is attentive and pleasant.

Meat is a la carte and on the pricey side, but the quality and portion sizes are great. Side dishes are fresh and done super well. We came at lunch time, so it wasnt super busy. We didnt touch the tongs at all, cooking was done for us. Amazing service. Definitely the best Austin kbbq place Ive been to. Edit: server accidentally dropped a meat piece and returned with two extra (ribeye?) Pieces even though we said it was fine. Theyre so sweet!

Update one year later: the staff here is EVEN FRIENDLIER than very our first visit. Ive probably been in 4x and its always a great experience! Our first time here (weve been to Korean BBQ before) and we LOVED it! We were there at an off time 3pm on a Sat. The staff is SUPER nice! They come by and check on your meat as it cooks which is excellent if youre worried about undercooking pork. The side dishes are all excellent. And the meat portion is VERY generous. We ordered the spicy pork bulgogi and yes, it was spicy! It was plenty for my teenager and I with an addition of mandu (potstickers). The meat comes with rice and soup, and if you need a refill if any side dish, its always included! If youre new to this, def ask for lettuce leaves and the miso sauce. It takes your meat wraps to the best, fresh level. Well DEF be back!

Hands down the best, most authentic KBBQ in Austin. Korean House restaurant is good too btw but thats a real family restaurant vs HoneyPig could also be a party place you can drink and yell. The rest of Korean BBQ in Austin cannot even be close to this level. If you are an American who had never had Asian BBQ (i.e. Gyukaku, KBBQ, Chinese skewers etc), you are in for a treat BUT NOTICE YOUR DESIRE OF HOSPITALITY AND FOOD KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION MAY NOT BE HONORED HERE because authentic delicious Asian restaurants sometimes expect you to study the menu or food before coming in, they could get too busy to attend you like white restaurants. You can also go on social media to educate yourself a bit more before coming and leaving a one star review. The food here is absolutely great, both dine in and takeout (weve tried numerous times but todays my first takeout, did not disappoint). And I am SO happy its in cedar park besides H mart.

The meat is very good and tastes good. The price is expensive and the service is excessive. The tip is a bit expensive, but I recommend it if you want to eat just one piece rather than unlimited food. Kimchi rolled noodles are delicious. Oh, additionally, it s a great green onion kimchi restaurant. I ate 3 bowls of rice with green onion kimchi.

Ban Chan was the star. Fresh and crisp. Meat was good, portion size is just enough. Service was standard for most kbbq. Was a good experience but it wasn t something that wowed us. Prices were high outside of lunch specials, for a family of 2 we ve spent $70-80. Go during their lunch special for better value. They don t have a all you can eat so it can get expensive quick.

We went on Monday at 6:30pm. It was quite busy and we waited 10 min to get in. The store was pretty noisy with background music/sound. We ordered the Premium Combo ($139) for 4 adults, turned out it has plenty of food. The ribeyes was not as good as Prime beef. The short rib and boneless rib were pretty good. Overall the seasoning was quite heavy and I hope it has a less salty option.

Update(8/14) I didnt wanna visit this restaurant again because I disappointed before However I had such a wonderful time on 8/14 Its all because of server Jay He is an amazing server! He celebrated my friends birthday with his heart(and his voice was so sweet as a K-pop star!) We all enjoyed the meal and the mood definitely! This is why all the restaurants seek a good server If you want to celebrate someones birthday, dont hesitate and make a reservation to Honey Pig and find Jay! Highly recommended!

After reading all of the reviews on here I decided to write one to show that not all experiences are the same. I love Korean bbq and know how these type of restaurants work. The tiny water cups are normal. I understand Texas heat is making people more hot but just enjoy the huge water bottle on the table and ask for another when you re ready. There is a fast paced-ness, but again it s because there s a lot going on and few workers managing. One waitress lays out the small snacks on the table and runs away. So please don t get offended if she doesn t smile or ask for your drink order - her only job is running to set up tables. Your normal waitress will come to take your order and help with your experience. We had a fantastic waitress. She was always around, promptly bringing our food, and she even ended up cooking for us without us asking! She could tell we were on a date so she told us to relax and enjoy our drinks while she handled everything. In regards to food, we got the beef combo with a wide variety of beef cuts. I was so surprised when a huge sirloin was thrown into the grill. That paid for the meal itself. A lot of their meat is unseasoned, but that s why you re given so many sauces. You re supposed to make the flavors and taste experience your own. Also the meat is very nice cuts and cooks perfectly. We also got a few sides - all which were tasty and cooked perfectly before they brought it to your table. Overall, this is the best Korean BBQ restaurant I ve tried in Texas and I will definitely be back. Please go in with an open mind and enjoy the experience.

Had a terrible experience here. I love Korean BBQ and Ive been excited to try Honey Pig for some time. I made it clear to the staff who seated us and our waitress that this was our first time here. They served us our food and promptly vanished. The service was non existent. The food was okay but disjointed - none of the flavors seemed right and they did not complement each other. The spicy pork bulgogi I ordered was not spicy. The rice was passable in texture but tasteless. The worst parts were the odd bits around the service. If you would like to awkwardly dine while 5 grown men stand less then 5 feet away watching you then this is the place for you! It seems the resturant layout does not have convenient places for the staff to stand near or around the kitchen so they were put the weird position of just standing right next to guest tables. Worse still is the water situation. Now Texas is going though another of our semi annual heat waves. So when coming in out of the summer heat one would expect to have plenty of ice cold water at the table. Not here. We were given tiny shot glasses to drink our water which came from a carafe that was never refilled. Thats right summer water rationing in effect right at your table. Skip it. There are plenty of places to get better KBBQ.

We had family visiting from out of state and decided to bring them here. We originally thought it was an All-you-can-eat Korean style bbq, but its not. Fortunately, the amount of food that they give you for the combo platters is enough. My only complaint (if you want to call it that) is you need to season some of the non-marinated meat before they begin cooking it because its bland...other than that, it was good!
