Divorce was one of the most daunting events of my life. I was fortunate to have a long-time attorney in Houston recommend Charlie Bowes as a top divorce attorney in Austin. There were numerous challenges during the divorce case, including the ex-wife switching to three different attorneys. The process was during the COVID pandemic, which represented further challenges. For me, communication was key so that I could understand the potential ramifications of each element of the process. Charlie is not the type of attorney who only tells you what you want to hear, but he will tell you what is actually in your best interest. He always presented alternatives based on his vast experience on every issue. There were times when Charlie would have to talk me off the ledge during which I was taking a stubborn approach that could have had negative consequences on my case. In the end, I could not have found a better attorney than Charlie and his paralegal Charlyne.

Navigating the family court system can be a terrifying experience. Finding myself in this position and knowing the battles ahead to fight for possession and decision-making rights for my child was beyond nerve-racking. I wasnt sure where to turn. Enter Katherine Obando There aren t enough characters to adequately describe the attention and care she gave my case. On an interpersonal level, I consistently felt heard and understood a HUGE relief in dealing with the stressors of the family law process. Divorce sucks! Micah and his team made us suck less! Not only are they patient and understanding but they re professionals who help you stay focused and be as objective as possible. Several years ago Micah Royer oversaw my divorce case. At the time Micah was an amazing attorney who helped ensure the outcome was both favorable and over quickly. Several years later several legal matters arose with my ex and Micah was (again) superb in helping me through a very emotional and difficult time. He was thoughtful and cared about the situation and both me and my daughter. He was able to secure a favorable outcome again. Several months ago more issues arose; however, the decree Micah developed and put in place effectively prevented further legal action from my ex (once he and his attorney re-reviewed the documentation). The relief of not having to endure another court appearance and not having to worry about case outcomes is immeasurable. Simply put I cannot thank Micah enough. Micah is hands down the best divorce attorney Ive ever met. He always looked out for my childs best interests as well as mine. I had the pleasure to be represented by Charles Bowes and his team. I have had multiple lawyers for my child custody case. By now, I can tell who is telling me what I want to hear vs what I NEED to hear. From the beginning, I felt a huge wave of relief when I spoke to Mr.Bowes. He was honest all while understanding my position as an emotional parent. There is no doubt that this team did everything to represent me and my son to the best of their ability. My divorce was the worst thing that ever happened to me and my kiddo. Someone upstairs was looking out for me when I got the referral to Micah Royer. Responsive, understanding, quick-thinking, experienced, professional. Im pretty sure he answered at least one of my calls while on vacation with his family! I never felt nickel & dimed or ashamed of my ignorance of the law. That said, some might wonder whether this understanding guy can be the tough fighter that you might need in an ugly dispute, but boy can he bring it. Tough doesnt even seem like a strong enough word. Im just glad I wasnt in my exs shoes! I really cant speak highly enough of Micah or his paralegal, Kimberly, for that matter. I feel confident we got the best outcome for our family, especially re: custody. Run, dont walk, to get this man on your team. Its going to be okay.

Where do I even start? From the very first time we met Micah to the closing of my case, he handled me with professional love and care and made me feel so valuable as a human being. His non threatening approach to situations in dealing with my case made me feel settled and very trusting in his abilities. Not to get too personal but he gave me information to read and things that were valuable to me according to my Faith. Micah helped build me up when my ex husband was going to every length to tear me down. His knowledge of family law and my children s rights were truly life changing. He gave me security knowing that I would be okay when my ex had been threatening me for over a decade. His paralegal, Kim is truly a gem! She held my hand and wiped my tears. I remember being in the thick of my case and in a puddle of tears and Micah and Kim both called me sporadically to check on me. Micah and his team are phenomenal at what they do. MIcah is very diligent about helping keep you calm during a daunting process. He not only holds you accountable to what you say is the right thing, he will push to make sure you are keeping the long term abreast of mind especially when there are children involved. There were times I confused how calm he is in the pocket with a lack of aggressiveness, but that couldnt be further from the case. When it was crunch time, he delivered without me having to compromise my principles. Micah and his team also push the most amicable way to solve issues which you may not feel good during the process, but means the world when it is over. I would highly recommend Micah and his support team especially Kimberly.

This review is long over due. There is no way to put into words how wonderful my experience was with Micah and Kim. Divorce was the most difficult life experience I ve ever had to navigate. The thoughtful and caring guidance I received helped me maintain my sanity throughout the process. I was an emotional mess and unable to make decisions. I appreciated the calm and calculated approach to handling the seemingly endless and often ridiculous attacks from the Ex. Despite the circumstances I actually looked forward to meeting with my team. I can honestly say that I miss seeing my new friends at this office. Possibly more importantly, my case was settled efficiently and ethically. Lets be honest, being involved in any kind of family law case is not fun! Its emotional, frustrating, expensive and lots of other adjectives. Micah was the fifth attorney that I met with. Three other local, respected family law attorneys spoke very highly of Micah to me. I believe that kind of recommendation from your peers speaks volumes and that even in a court room, an attorneys reputation will precede them. I consider this an important factor to take into account when hiring an attorney. My case was full of twists and turns and at different moments, over many months, different possible outcomes came into play. I found Micah to be very knowledgeable of the law and its application. He has a great ability to unpack all of the legal jargon in a practical way. He was thorough in explaining all my options and helping me weigh the impact of each one. In all of our appearances, Micah was well prepared and able to quickly and seamlessly shift gears when the situation compelled. I noticed a common theme of genuine care and compassion in Micahs previous reviews. I can give a big AMEN to that. I felt heard, understood and that the best interest of my family was his focus. However, dont think this kind, compassionate, law nerd isnt a total fighter when the situation calls for it. His compassion manifests into well-spoken, well-written persuasive passion when the time comes! He is a skilled litigator and somehow nice guy turns intimidating when the pressure is on. Just saying, sometimes that is needed. Yet, it was done with the utmost of integrity, as an advocate of the truth. I use to complain about how costly an attorney can be but after that experience I am convinced they are not paid enough! My family and I are forever grateful. Kim, Micahs paralegal, was an integral person for me throughout. Her availability, knowledge and warmth were dependable and reassuring. In keeping with the culture of this team, I would add that all my interactions with other Coldwell Bowes staff was as pleasant as a trip to Chick-fil-A. Thats saying something!

I hired Micah Royer to help me with child support modification and enforcement. I reside out of state, so I trusted Micah to handle everything without me ever having to be present. What is normally a fairly simple process was unsurprisingly challenging due to the other party, but Micah and his paralegal, Kim, took a very trying situation and handled it with care and ease. I always felt that Micah had my best interests in mind and was ready to do whatever was necessary to see those interests pursued. He is not only skilled at what he does, but he handles his cases with compassion and care. It is easy to see that he truly cares about his work. Very unethical firm that pads the hours. Charlie is extremely hostile and created an enormous amount of stress in an already stressful time of life. I was billed $7000 for very little work, for example I was billed almost $2000 to read a 20 page document that did not receive a response. I should have sought a refund, and reported Charlie to the Bar Association, but it did not fit into my life at the time of my turmoil. My case was very extreme and I felt as though Charlie saw an easy way to victimize someone under significant duress. After this I sought other counsel from Daryl Weinman and learned more in 1 hour than I did with Charlie after $7000. Charlie makes you feel as though you are the enemy and comes off with his tough love act as he berates you. His advice was terrible in retrospect when seeking other counsel. Supposedly Charlie Bowes has a reputation for being overly prepared , which is lawyer speak for he is a notorious bill padder. STAY AWAY

I cant say enough good things about Micah. I hired him to handle my divorce, as I was very disappointed with my representation (after four months and $10,000, zero progress). Within two weeks, Micah had a date set for mediation. At mediation, Micah was able to negotiate a settlement that went way beyond my hopes and expectations. I swear I went out of mediation skipping. Micah is knowledgeable, efficient, responsive and a fantastic negotiator. You will not find a better lawyer.
