Big blank canvas for events in a great location, not great for parking

Hosted a 170 person wedding reception here. We loved the huge patio on Congress with views of the Capitol and Paramount (sadly Congress was completely shut down and filled with tents and noisy generators that blocked our views the night of the reception - not the venue s fault but would have been nice to have gotten a heads up as it was difficult for our guests to get there and a very disappointing backdrop to our reception). The garage door projectors we had looked forward to using were broken the night of our event. The bartenders and security (provided by venue) were fabulous. They allow BYOB which we were looking for. So all in all a lovely venue, just be aware the views are not guaranteed.

Ive been to a few events here and Ive never been disappointed. Staff is always courteous. While not always free, ample parking is located within walking distance. Have fun.

If you re still sober, you ll notice bar staff tipping themselves $10 extra at the treehaus event. Tried two different transactions, same drinks, BUT asked for a receipt the second time. Went from $27 to under $18. Talked to management and they fixed it, which I really appreciate!

I loved the Banksyland exhibit but there were so many people that it was chaotic. The tickets are sold in time slots to make sure it isn t too crowded but we arrived at our 2:30 time slot, there was a long line; all with a 2:30 entrance time. There were so many people it was difficult to enjoy the art. The way the art was presented had no crowd flow at all. I loved the exhibit but did not enjoy this event space. When we left, there was no line but it was still packed inside.

Beautiful facility, but absolutley terrible service and attendtion to detail. We were able to transform this venue into a beautiful secret garden but the lack of help from the venue was astounding. Emails went unanswered, people changed positions or left and we werent told who to contact. The venue was actually working off the plans for another wedding that was months in advance of ours. On the day of the wedding, our vendors had nowhere to park even though we paid for the parking permits the venue required. As a result, our food was late being served and the celebratory wedding events that were to take place were rushed or eliminated. The event manager we had been working with was not there on the day of the wedding (she never told us it would be someone else) and the person subbing did not have a clue about what was supposed to happen even though all the plans had been submitted on time and clearly labeled. Our wedding planner and her team worked overtime to try and mitigate the damage. I cannot in good conscious recommend this venue.

Our event company Panacea Collective works with 800 Congress often for an event space in Austin, TX. Events from Texas Tribune Festival to private parties, its always the perfect spot for hosting. The location is in the heart of downtown and the staff is consistently friendly and helpful.

Amazing reception space - and totally versatile. We were able to take the blank canvas of the space and turn it into our dream vision! Loved that it has both indoor and outdoor space - this provides space for people to step out and cool off during reception if they wanted. This location gave us some prime wedding photos with the Texas Capitol and Austin Paramount Theater right outside. Staff at 800 Congress was great to work with. Highly recommend!

Austin Police allowed my niece to call us from the backseat of their car at 2 am and held her there while we drove the 3 hours to pick her up. Cited her (Class B Misdemeanor) without booking her downtown. Most understanding police ever!

Love all the art and murals! We found parking downtown, and rented Lime scooters to cruise around one. Lots of people walking about. If your wanting to site see Downtown Austin, you have to cruise down Congress.

This venue is beautiful, I did a corporate event here, and everything was accurately as they described it was going to be. Andrea - Sales Manager - was on point with everything we asked her for, and helped me follow up on everything. Molly and Katrina were also there to answer any questions and give suggestions. I recommend this venue for all type of events, is open, modern, and great location.

We are from out of town but I found 800 Congress online and last weekend, we had an out of the ordinary Rehearsal Dinner; a big, extremely casual, fun night that ended with hours of dancing! The venue is the coolest, with its industrial look, its large size, indoor and outdoor spaces, the projector wall and the ideal location! The staff could not have been better! They were very easy to work with, always available, communicated well and quickly responded to emails; literally helped with every aspect of the event that they could, both in the planning process and the actual celebration night. I cant say enough great things about it! 800 Congress for us was definitely worth the expense and Id use them all over again! A huge success, in part (a big part) because of you! Thank you 800 Congress for a Rehearsal Dinner to remember!

What a great venue! Was here for my nephews wedding reception. The food was catered but the atmosphere was really good! Loved the amount if space we had. My only complaint was that the main table was too close to the back tables and made it a palm for anyone to walk between them (which was a LOT of people and I was sitting there). Other than that, I loved it.

I would also like to add that I calculated all the watts I would be using for my wedding - food station electronics, lights, photobooth - and asked the building manager if the specific wall sockets could support this. He said they could and it was no problem. This was not true. Half of the lights would not turn on. We were lucky we used an INSANELY professional and skilled lighting company who could cover this. However, because 800 Congress was not honest, it was a large part of our budget that did not work.

Be weary, no matter how much you pay to host an event here, the bouncers/security will treat you absolutely horribly. Client networking and relationship building is quite popular at events such as SXSW and is quickly deteriorated if you dare to stand outside more than 60 seconds after the porch is closed, as you will be screamed at and hearded like cattle. Forget about personal space, privacy or even a right to your own property as you will be patted down and scanned with a wand when you arrive along with a full search of any baggage (purse/briefcase etc). Upon leaving, the security team will forcefully & rudely scream at all attendees that any water bottles cannot be taken off of the premises because it is against the law. I will trust that this is true because I do not live in this city to know any better and I definitely am not a lawyer, however I do know a sealed/full water bottle would not fall into the category of any potential open container law. Therefore, this should not have resulted in a security team member reaching forcefully into my purse, pulling out the bottle and throwing it in the trash. When this happened, the bottle s condensation caused a small envelope of receipts (for expense reports) to attach itself to the bottle and also enter the trash, ultimately costing me all of the money accounted for in those receipts. Overall, decent enough space but not worth the poor treatment from the security staff. Definitely go elsewhere to ensure a better experience for all.

I am beyond impressed with 800 Congress. We initially booked our wedding at another venue who cancelled our event 19 days before the wedding date! 800 Congress was luckily available and went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding and all of our already booked vendors were accommodated. Their staff is incredible, not only during the booking process, but management, bar staff, security, etc... The venue itself it gorgeous and with a little bit of a vision, can be transformed into anything you can think of! Our guests were thrilled with the location and the indoor/outdoor area. If I had to do it all over, I would book with 800 Congress to start with! I will thrown another party just to use this venue. Thank you, 800 Congress for taking care of us on such short notice and being so amazing!
