From Vivian and Kayla at intake, to trainers Colby, Ashley, Jayden and Francisco, our experience with SMS was first rate. Staff was knowledgable, kind, responsive, and communicative. I highly recommend their board and train programming. I was totally impressed with what my 4 mo old lab puppy learned. He loved his time there and always gets excited when we go back for follow up training. Worth every penny. Thank you, SMS

We recently had our two 8-month-old puppies trained at Sit Means Sit North location, and the results have been considerably well. In just a short period, our puppies have significantly improved and learned the behaviors introduced during the full-day classes. The group sessions are particularly beneficial as they teach dogs to behave even amidst distractions and other dogs. Whether you have a young puppy or a reactive adult dog, their skilled staff is well-prepared to guide them towards better behavior. Please remember that no dog is unteachable; with the right training, every dog can learn so dont give up on them. Sit Means Sit trains your dog and equips you with the necessary skills to continue their training at home. Be ready to invest time and effort just as much as your furry babies to see the best outcomes. Its challenging but incredibly rewarding to have a well-behaved dog.

My golden retriever was attacked when he was about 9 months old and became reactive to other dogs. We had previous experience with training for things like agility and he had pretty basic obedience skills down (like sit, down, don t eat unless told to, and so on). We enrolled with sit means sit because I wanted to have more confidence in my ability to recall him, work on his reactivity, and have a calm, obedient dog in any environment that is more focused on me than any distractions that are around us. We have grown so much together. It s as much training for me as it is for him. He s much better walking on a leash now, I am more confident with our recall, and his sits and down commands have grown too (longer distances away and longer durations!). The class environment is fun and it s cool to see the other dogs and their owners grow too. I think there s always room to keep developing what we ve learned. But the classes are a great foundation and give you all the tools to continue practicing every day. No two classes have been exactly the same, and even if we are covering a similar skill, we ve been introduced to many different ways to practice them. The instructors have all been very kind and I appreciate that they stick around to answer questions after class and give pointers for someone s specific situation if it s brought up, or show different variations for practicing skills if one way isn t working for owner/dog. Jerry and Christian were really exceptional to work with and are fountains of knowledge! My dog is significantly less reactive than he was prior to enrolling in lessons, and is even starting to make friends with other dogs now. It is sometimes difficult to make it to classes due to my work schedule conflicting with most of them. That concerns me for finishing them all within the allotted time frame so definitely ask to see the schedule and see if you can make them. Having one of the ones I could attend removed from the schedule makes it difficult too.

Excellent establishment and wonderful dog trainers to help along with my dogs issues. My dog has anxiety issues and is reactive to other dogs and critters. After attending SMS training she walks in the park, can walk by other dogs without any issues what so ever. We have a happy home as she no longer is rude to guests and is much more confident and polite to strangers.

I am very happy with the training we received for our dog Moose at Sit Means Sit North Location. Moose was so hard to control on walks and was not a great listener at home. The 1:1 training was very thorough. He is a completely different dog on walks and at home. The group classes that follow the 1:1 classes are great for helping with impulse control and behavior around other dogs. It really helps makes the training techniques stick for both of us. Moose also loves the training and is very proud of himself. Taking him on walks is now a pleasant experience. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit and am so glad we did it!

I can t thank Sit Means Sit enough for helping me learn how to best support my dog. I have a German Shepherd and Siberian husky mix who was very scared of men. He had some minor challenges with recall and engagement that you would expect from any puppy, but he was anxious and stressed anytime men were present. Sit Means Sit taught me how to support him as he learns to trust men and the trainers dramatically improved his confidence. His recall and engagement saw a lot of improvement as well. A special thank you to Gerry who earned Omen s trust after the very first day camp!

We have come a long way since starting at Sit means sit. I have learned so much in group class not only training my dog but about dogs in general. I know how to be a better dog owner by understanding signs in order to help prevent my dog from being reactive before he starts. Only downside is if your dog is extra challenging it can take a long time to get progress during group class since it is not a very individualized setting.

Have been having a great time with the training. My dog is pretty reactive and insecure around other dogs and we got to a point where I didn t know what else to do. My partner and I had to even talk about potentially rehoming her because of how much we struggled to understand and manage my dog s reactivity. We came to a breaking point when she went to attack another dog. We paid for the 4 week Day Camp program and Athena has just graduated. We have seen pretty significant improvement in her behavior and feel so much more confident in our ability to handle Athena. They gave us the formula and the continued support. We will continue to train Athena through their group classes and through the various resources they offer. 10/10 recommend! Thank you to Chirag, Colby, Gerry, and Trisha who all worked closely together with Athena!

Our issue is once home walking he lunges at other dogs & people. He s not 2yrs old yet, but due to his size, I m unable to walk him comfortably. He came here already knowing how to sit & stay. He walks calm when nobody else is around. Not sure what to do? And it s costly to pour more money into classes. Help

Training to place was fine. He already knew sit/stay and down. The problem is when out on streets and another dog comes by he lunges. When taken to group class he was fine but again on the streets he s totally different. Wife cannot walk him due to his size me it s a pain in the butt to keep fighting to restrain him even with the e-collar on. So now we have a 2nd and was looking to get trained however just found out price went up $600 whoa kinda of a deal breaker for me I get inflation but damn I sure hope the service rises along with the cost. So may be looking for another alternative

My puppers is a 4 year old intact male GSD(German Shepherd Dog)that had limited exposure to strangers and dogs. Highly leash reactive; barking, lunging, not listening to me, jerking on the leash, distracted by the world around us, and resource guarding me. After 4 doggy daycamps with Colby at the North Austin location AND 4 weeks of homework, my GSD can calmly walk in public. His attitude has completely turned around with triggers and distractions. Before, I was full of anxiety and stressing about what might pop around the corner and set him off on a lunging, barking episode. Now I look for those triggers thinking oh free good training situation Instead of avoiding uncomfortable things, I feel confident with the training him & I received that we can get through anything together. Now you may feel it is pricey, but this is one situation where you get what you pay for! The training is detailed, extensively explained, videos and homework to help remind you of what to work on for the week and it is specific to your needs. They even have Saturday availability! Their program does use an eCollar. I insisted it be tried out on me before I would even consider their program. It is nothing like what I ignorantly thought it was. It doesn t electrocute you, more like a 9v battery touching your tongue. They are thorough and slow with introducing the use of the collar to you and your pup. So you don t abuse the tool, you use it properly and get results! They have a very controlled safe environment. Trainers bring their dogs to the location too. It is just an all around positive experience for everyone. I would shout on mountaintops Sit Means Sit & Colbys praise for the world to hear, but I guess google review will have to do. Give them a try if you are having doggy issues, you ll be thanking them too!

It has been 2 years since our dog, Daisy, has finished her training with SMS. Before her training, she was the craziest dog I ve ever had. She chased after cars, jumped at ceiling fans, and was miserably anxious in the car. We couldn t travel or invite friends and family to our home. We finally decided to go with formal training after she escaped from me to chase a car half a mile down a busy road. If I remember correctly, I paid around $2,500 for 3 day camps over 4 weeks with one private lesson a week. We had an amazing experience and Daisy s behavior immediately improved. The trainers sent a status email and recapped her day at camp. They answered all our questions and TAUGHT US how to best help Daisy. We were all learning! Now, we can travel with Daisy, have people over, and even go on unleashed walks. She was even in our wedding. She still struggles here and there with vacuums and ceiling fans but it s still night and day from where she started. The one con is that she only listens with the electric collar which becomes a problem for grooming (it can t get wet). On those days we ll give her a little anxiety medicine. This investment has been so worthwhile for us. I recommend Sit Means Sit to everyone. She gets to live life without debilitating anxiety. I felt the need to make this review after she walked (unleashed) side by side with me and came to me after I called her all the way across the park. It s so normal now that I almost forgot how crazy she used to be just a few years ago. Thank you Sit Means Sit!!

Sit Means Sit should be where every dog (and their people) go to be the best they can be! After seeing the results of the training and confidence my daughter and her dog Queenie had together, I knew Sit Means Sit would be where I d go if ever we added another dog to our pack. Well fast forward; we took in stray pup and Sit Means Sit was one of the first phone calls I made and I am so very delighted that I did! From both the one-on-one visits Dallas and I have shared together, we are training and learning together. The trainer at each visit has been extremely patient, kind, and full of information, insight, and dog philosophy. We talked, I watched, and then we gave the training a try. The trainers gave both me and Dallas positive nudges, suggestions, and lots of training treats! I left each visit with confidence and assignments to work on at home. Within days of setting aside Dallas training multiple times a day, we started to see successes in potty training, sit, down, leave, off, let s go, and the notorious place. I was so excited and encouraged that I called my daughter and told her that this stuff really works!! We most certainly will continue to train and I recommend Sit Means Sit every chance I get. I m looking forward to watching Dallas grow and with the guidance and training we acquire, I know he will be the most well mannered and happy member of our family!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Also, I want to preemptively mention that they incentivize 5 star reviews with giveaways to people who haven t even started training, so keep that in mind when considering this business as an option for your pet. I m finally writing this review that I should have written months ago, but I was simply too angry for words I signed up for the three week day camp earlier this year to help lay the foundations for the puppy I had adopted a few months earlier. The first day I dropped him off and went to pick him up, the trainer told me he had slept on his place for 6 hours and was too cute to wake him up I was astounded and truly didn t have a response in the moment. I spoke with the front desk after that because I really did not want two more fully paid days like that they gave me a private lesson to make up for it and that was great. The second day camp day I noticed him completely shutting down after the session this was when I should have known there was something wrong. The third day when I went to pick him up, his eyes were bloodshot from being CHOKED on the leash all day. Also, he had completely shut down so of course he wasn t listening to any commands, so they were repeatedly shocking him on higher and higher levels. The trainer also had the audacity to say that her and the other trainers were talking about him earlier that day. She said imagine wanting to adopt a cute little puppy, then getting him . Absolutely horrible. I m not confrontational at all, but this upset me on so many levels. I took him home. The next day, I was petting him as normal, which is when the worst happened. He completely switched on me - and bit me badly with absolutely no warning. I ve never gotten bit by a dog before, and was DEFINITELY not expecting that after paying for an expensive training. Multiple stitches later I was feeling complete betrayal. I paid $$$ for these dog trainers to completely ruin my dog. The absolute worst part I spoke with the owner about this situation , and he offered me a$200 refund or a private lesson no way in hell I would ever trust them with any dog . I was utterly defeated and completely disgusted by this situation. Months later, I finally sought out a professional trainer to help him unlearn she said MULTIPLE other past clients have come to her from failed training at sit means sit (same location). I would be doing a dis service to keep this story from others that are considering this business as an option to train their pet. This place shouldn t even be in business anymore

I have trained a German Shepherd and am now training a GSD puppy. My older dog, Dakota) now 9 years old, is THE BEST DOG EVER! Her training with Sit was flawless, and she became the wonder-dog every wants. My puppy (Reign) has been more difficult to train - more drive, more rambunctiousness, more of just about everything you dont want. The trainer who is working with her now at Sit (Ashley) is patient, constantly gives me good advice on training tips and has gotten this wild child to be more responsive to me. This pup will take more time than Dakota, but Ashley coaches me to not give up on her. I think two of the reasons Dakota learned so quickly were that 1) she was a bit older when she started training, and 2) when she was training, it was a six week course, rather than just 4 weeks (which is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5). On the bright side, the pup will be going to group classes as often as possible to gain more confidence around other dogs/people and become more manageable. I would recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone who has a dog that needs training or whose owners need training. We, as handlers, need as much education as the dogs, and Sit provides that for us. I will continue to work with Sit until Reign is as great a dog as Dakota.

I have nothing but gratitude to the entire sit mean sit team. My six year old shepherd mix shelter dog (Lea) has struggled with reactivity since a puppy. As a first time dog owner, I had a difficult time finding the right way to communicate with Lea and to help her through all the anxiety and fear. That s when the team at sit mean sit came in and forever changed our relationship. I ve had my doubts with collar training but the team here has shown tremendous expertise and patience in teaching me and Lea to leverage the collar to improve our communication. From the initial consultation to group classes, I see kindness and compassion in their training methodology. Even after the 1st day camp, changes are noticeable and significant. Lea has recently graduated into advanced group class where she can manage being close to 20+ stranger dogs around her. Not only is she a confident dog now, she also learned to self sooth during stressful situations. Every group class challenges Lea to go out of her comfort zone and the instructors always made time for any questions we have. Lea loves her collar because she knows it s training time. Special thanks to trainers Gerry, Trisha, and Gabbi whom we worked closely with. You rock!

Super hard to find the Location. The company used low ecollar stim adjenda pretty hard. While I am a balanced TRAINER, I feel low stim ecollar training to be unfair to most dogs and furthermore not sustainable. I dont have to have my dog always responding to negative pressure to understand what I want but even more so batteries on collars only last so long. I need my dog to respond to leash or verbal commands without having to worry if my ecollar battery is charged. That being said I use an ecollar on the regular when my dog is off leash in a big open space as dragging a 30 ft long line just gets caught in bushes etc. My dog understands low stim but I honestly dont want to associate it with something positive. I want them to understand it is actually a punishment for not responding to well trained behavior. Not desensitized that it is just a an attention tool. Just my humble opinion. I have done extensive training with my service dog and while we have our challenges, Id rather use a prong collar and leash knowing it will never run out of battery. Lessons taught on leash do absolutely translate to offleash. Im sure this is true with an e collar too but the fact they try to make something negative into a positive to me and a dog is a confusing standard. I just refuse to stim my dog and try and play it off as a good thing. Its a consequence for ignoring a learned command only. They try to make it positive by adding treats and to me, that just a recipe for distrust from a smart dog.

Our dog completed 3 day camp/private classes and has done one group class so far, and weve already seen great improvement! We have a great dog, but need help with reactivity to other dogs, especially since hes around 50 lbs and we have small children. We have learned so much about encouraging our dog to look to us, rather than punishing for bad behavior. We are still working toward many goals, but the trainers have been very flexible, responsive, and sensitive to our needs. One of those is having kids and the inability yo be without them for all training. One trainer even utilized the distractions brought by toddlers when working with us. Part of me wanted to wait until we had a better routine, but Im glad we went ahead and did it since we probably never would have if we waited to be ready with our toddler and newborn.

Yes, Sit Means Sit is a big time and money commitment, but believe me, its 100% worth it. My husband and I came in with a large, lovable, sometimes uncontrollable puppy, and the level of care we received isnt available anywhere else in the greater austin area. Every trainer weve worked with has been incredibly generous with their time--letting us ask unlimited questions after lessons and really getting to know us and our dog. If you have a rowdy adolescent dog and despair of ever getting to live a normal life with him, this is your move. Youve probably heard they use electronic collars, but dont worry, you will not be shocking your dog, just reminding him to stay in your bubble. The combination of day-long training sessions followed by a private lesson with the dogs owners is exactly right. Our dog Moish has learned so much, and so have we.

Big Shoutout! Adam at Sit means Sit north Austin is by far the best trainer my very nervous dog Maisy has ever had. He understood her limits but also made sure she worked slowly and gently through the scary things and her stubbornness and helped build her confidence. After only 4 private lessons, I feel like I have the tools and tips to manage her fear and reactivity in any environment but the work is still on going and will be for some time. The private lessons program is more how to train humans how to train their dogs which is exactly what it should be. Building the fundamental blocks, understanding your dog, and pushing them a bit in the right direction to set them up for success. These pics are her sitting (placing) and relaxing at the vet which she has never done before.

Today was a literal turning point in my training with my dog Pork Chop. He had the BEST trainer Madison, for his 4 long training days, and then we had an incredible park training session yesterday with Gerry as well. I was so stressed because hed done so well with them, and then Id get back to my apartment complex and just felt like the worst dog owner because he wasnt doing as well as he did when I was with him and them. But today was the first day that Im really seeing how much hes improved around other dogs and really paying attention to me when were walking. It definitely takes some time, but Im so impressed with Sit Means Sit and their training program. And Im especially thankful that they helped me train a dog I rescued who I afterwards found out was deaf, and terrible on the leash, and they created a program that worked so well for him! UPDATE: I have finished my 3 lesson package with Adam and Madie. Because my foremost goal is to certify her for therapy work, Adam very graciously reviewed a checklist with me to help in moving toward that goal. Each was very successful and our practice at home has greatly improved our progress. I look forward to continuing to work with Adam and SMS. INITIAL REVIEW I have been working with SIT for almost a month and find them to be BRILLIANT with both my dog and her inept handler (me). They worked from where my dog was, with my specific goals foremost, not from a packaged plan. We have had a really positive experience with Sit Means Sit! Our dog Jubilee has seen a lot of behavioral improvement. They really understand her and us, and have helped us get and use the tools to work with her more effectively. I could go on and I m, but overall, we are just very grateful!

I had several reasons for wanting to put my 1.5 year old dog in training, but most importantly, she was becoming dog reactive. My vet recommended Sit Means Sit and I am so grateful! During the initial consultation, I explained all my concerns, learned about the root of my dog s behaviors, and felt so relieved that Sit Means Sit could help. I was sold! My dog attended day camp with Trisha and I noticed improvements after just the first day. Trisha was so patient with me and my dog and answered every question I had (which was a lot!). We are now attending group classes and I m so impressed with everything my dog is learning. I can definitely see improvements in her confidence and behavior overall. If you are on the fence about Sit Means Sit, I highly recommend jumping in feet first. It is so worth it!

We are so grateful for Sit Means Sit! The difference from very stubborn pup that we adopt to well-behaved dog we can take to any dog-friendly patio has been a complete transformation! The trainers are awesome at not only teaching the dogs, but also listening and adapting with each dog. Also, group classes has allowed us to continue training while the dogs gain confidence by being confronted with real world obstacles. Have recommended to many friends and will continue to recommend to everyone.

Amazing place to get your dog trained and socialized!!! Gerry and Adam have done wonders with my dog, Hunney, and even with my other dog, Belle, who has not been trained at Sit Means Sit because of the knowledge they have given Hunney and I!

Ask for Geraldo (Jerry) Sanchez to train your dog. He is the best. He is patient, knowledgeable, calm, dependable, and dogs respond to him. Our 2-yr-old beagle Picasso has become a much more manageable and obedient dog because of Jerry. He learned not to pull on his leash, not to jump on people, come immediately when called, go to his mat and stay until we say free plus several tricks. Picasso is a total joy to have in our family. Buckle in folks, this is going to be a long one - but WELL worth the praise! I got a puppy and knew one of the most important things I needed to look into was training. I spoke with a friend and they referred us to Sit Means Sit. They told me they ve never been more proud of their dogs and all the progress they made than they are with having trained under SMS. I was a bit worried about the way they went about training with the collars, but was allowed to try them out and see what my pup would be experiencing - all through the entire sign up process my questions had been answered with certainty and confidence, never once a bit of hesitation which helped build my confidence in picking this training group. They always had such amazing resources if I needed extra help outside of the facility, always answered my texts or calls when I had concerns or questions and always offered a smile when I walked in. It s been an absolute joy training under this company. I ve had dogs my whole life, trained them my whole life and yielded great results on my own accord but never results this amazing. SMS helped open my eyes to a world of information on training I never knew before and the journey has been fabulous. Each day and each training session getting better and better - and the best part? My dog has fun with the sessions, works hard and knows she ll be rewarded for a job well done. If you have your second thoughts about picking SMS - give them a talk, iron out those concerns and pick them! They re worth every second I ve spent with them!!

We are a little bit more than half way through the process right now. I will admit I was very skeptical when we brought our food aggressive, territorial dog to Sit Means Sit. I didn t think she could be tamed and we were shelling out a lot of money here. This was our last step before being forced to rehome her. Well, here we are more than half way through and WOW!! She s not completely changed but the amount of improvement we ve seen is stunning. I usually believe you get what you pay for and here it s been worth every last penny. The trainers we ve had have been incredible. Kind, informative, loving and above all patient. They make sure we fully understand what we are supposed to be doing. And sometimes we don t alway get it the first time but they are there to hold our hand every step of the way. Always stressing text or email me ANYTIME for ANY question you may have . It s really been a wonderful experience and we couldn t be happier. Definitely give this place a shot. Their success rate is goes above all the other places I ve looked into. They know what they are doing here. Thanks to Adam, Gabbi, Tricia and Geri. Those are the 4 trainers we ve had so far and I applaud them!

This place has been THE BEST for my dog-reactive gal! We did the whole round of Petco training (3 6-week courses) and Im pretty convinced I learned more in the 3 private lessons with my dog here than I did in all of the Petco classes. The prices are competitive with other places around, classes are flexible, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. For us, the SMS collar was just too much since we had done so much previous training without it (both my dog and I were confused, mostly me tbh). SMS was very flexible though and we were able to do the curriculum without the collar, I didnt get a hard time about it from the staff or anything, they were super willing to work with us! Ive seen huge improvements in my dogs confidence and focus since coming here. I will say, she already had most of the obedience skills down prior to coming here but we really benefitted from being able to practice these around other dogs and distractions and getting that 1x1 help to manage her stress. We did 3 private lessons and group classes after that.

We came to Sit Means Sit for our 2 year old Dalmatian Ollie after visiting another trainer and just didnt achieve the results we were hoping for. We were at a loss, we didnt know what else to do with our dog. He was reactive towards dogs, people and even our toddler. Our daughter would try to pet him and he would growl and run away. He couldnt be out in our back yard without barking at neighbors and other dogs, it was exhausting. This was our last hope before we thought of rehoming him. We couldnt be more please with the results we achieved with Sit Means Sit! Logan and Trisha both were wondering in helping us achieve our goals with Ollie and our home feels so calm. Completing this program allowed us to keep our dog. Our daughter is now able to pet Ollie and he happily wags is tail and just enjoys hanging out with his family. Ive already shared this with everyone we know and would 100% recommend Sit Means Sit. If youre on the fence, do it, you wont regret it!

SMS was a miracle for my dog and I. I adopted a year-old Great Pyrenees mix from a rescue during the pandemic, and though he knew the basic commands, I was having a hard time progressing his training. I was frustrated and he was frustrated. But after our first lesson, I was crying tears of joy. My dog and I finally understood each other and our relationship improved tenfold. We re now working on getting him to be a therapy dog. Thank you, Troy and the Sit Means Sit team.

I took in a deaf rescue at 18 months old with absolutely no training done with her. I worked with her for a year to address severe anxiety and fear of strangers. Finally realized I needed professional help to progress any further. Sit Means Sit took us under their wing and worked wonders. She is now responding to hand signals, tolerates humans and other dogs much better and is thriving with her homework. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Trainers were able to adapt lessons for a deaf dog and the one on one time with them was invaluable. I would highly recommend this company if you have a dog that has issues.

I purchased a second Yorkie puppy who was far more of a nightmare than my first one. I ended up booking two appointments with Maci there. She was great with Yogi and her recommendations ended up being invaluable. Definitely worth it! Only reason I cant give 5 stars is because this place was completely booked for a month straight before Yogi could be seen for his first appointment. Due to how much time it would take to have one appointment I decided to book my 2nd appointment with the idea of booking it the subsequent week. However, oddly THAT week was booked too.

Terrible shock collar training. Your dogs deserve better than folks who are ok with using unscientific forceful and painful methods in order to push a dog into submission. A good trainer doesn t need to use a shock collar. Only a lazy impatient trainer does. Since you at Sit Means Sit have responded. I ll add that I have taken in numerous dogs that were trained at SMS that the owners were left with no options other than surrender after aversive methods were used to the point that the fear in the dogs created horrible behavior. Since proof is in the pudding as you say, I can honestly say that SMS has not had to be the ones dealing with the consequences of their archaic and in humane training methods. Rescues have! Science is stronger than anything that SMS uses as an excuse for terrible training methods.

I had a great experience with sit means sit! From the Google Meets consultation to the actual trainings and the follow up homework/weekly assignments, I have been so impressed by how professional everyone is and how thoughtful the trainers are. I enrolled my 6 month old puppy here in the day camp program so that she could learn the basics and have good fundamentals. She was such a puller on the leash (and also anxious from distractions and noises) which did not make walks fun. She was also extremely shy. After the program, shes more confident and going on walks with her is fun again. Not only did my puppy learn a lot, but I did too and its strengthened our relationship. We were paired up with Gerardo and hes awesome. I could tell that him and my puppy developed a special bond as well - he genuinely cared about her growth and development. I also love that he customized trainings and learnings based on problem areas or challenges I came across week by week. Your dog will be in good hands at sit means sit and every day life with your dog will get better day by day. Youll see the results! I cant wait to join the group classes.
