I worked with Scott Thompson for eighteen months through a very unpleasant and stressful divorce which was initially intended to be short and amicable. INCREDIBLE! There are not enough stars available for Scott in this review option! Scott has been incredible throughout the entirety of an extremely difficult and lengthy family court trial. He is brilliant and dedicated and tough, all while remaining cool and professional, but very clearly stating the issues in my case. I researched and spoke to several lawyers before I filed for divorce. I immediately felt Scott was the best choice but still continued to interview other attorneys and firms. Before I was even a real paying client, Scott consistently demonstrated his knowledge, empathy, and genuine concern for me as a client and human being. But what I appreciated more than anything else was his integrity. There were several opportunities and moments throughout the divorce where Scotts, and my, integrity could have been compromised. Scott remained consistently honorable even up to the very last moment of service when all my concerns and objectives were achieved. What s more, Scott not only legally, and ethically, outmaneuvered opposing counsel, but he was the pitbull most clients want their lawyers to be when the occasion called and cool, steady, and stoic at all other times. My ex-wife is an attorney, and she had a huge family law firm, who were also her classmates and friends, at her disposal. Scott and his team had no problem handle opposing counsel. I am confident I came out further ahead than if he would have simply done what I wanted or if I would have had a different attorney. Finally, Scott never allowed my emotions, attitude, or mood to derail the proceedings, alter his attitude, or change how he treated me as a client. He always always looked at the bigger picture and kept the main thing the main thing. I do not believe you could find a better family law attorney in Texas, definitely not in Austin. I have known Mr. Kleon Andreadis (Kleon) since the early 2000 s in a professional capacity as I worked extensively with him throughout the Americas. During this time, Kleon demonstrated a tenacity, drive and sense of urgency that was second to none. He understood my needs and owned them; however, he was never shy to be candid and realistic with me rather than just sugar coating a situation. Forthright, honest, fair this type of integrity unfortunately is not common. Additionally, throughout all the engagements I completed with Kleon, he was always respectful and mind-full of my budget while in the process providing full transparency and options for every action taken. Kleon kept me focused on the end goal of coming to an amicable resolution and to ignore the static. I have had the pleasure of knowing Scott Thompson for several years. The first time I contacted him I was looking for an attorney and advice on how to handle a complicated situation. He listened to me patiently and asked questions that let me know he was listening and completely understood my situation. Although he did not know me at that time, he talked to me in a friendly way that put me at ease and gave me a sense of comfort in a difficult time in my life. During that initial call, he shared options with me and suggested a way to resolve the situation that reduced the costs to me. That was the first time that a lawyer had ever suggested a solution that would save me money to their detriment. About a year after my first call, I reached out to Scott to discuss my situation again and to let him know that my situation had changed. I was surprised that he remembered not only me but specific details of my matter. Again he spent time with me to completely understand my situation and legal needs. By the end of the call, we had agreed on an arrangement to engage his services and also a primary plan and an idea of contingencies depending on how my case moved forward. Scott worked with me on my case for over two-year and worked with Scott on my case and he was always available to me. Scott would update me on the progress of my case while shielding me from the details and pain points that would have caused me unnecessary aggravation or pain. When I talked to Scott about my case, he would explain things in plain English and always clearly identified risks or possible issues that could arise in the future. When it became necessary to appear in court, Scott was there early to prepare me and was fully prepared for all outcomes. In court, Scott was always composed and able to handle situations that came up unexpectedly. When the Judge asked for documents to be prepared, he was the first to offer his services and it was clear that he had the respect of the judges. I was able to observe Scott interact with several judges over several years in various courts with several opposing counsels. This gave me a very unique perspective that I hope others dont need to experience. What I noticed at each of these hearings was that Scott always gained the respect of the court even when a presiding judge had an existing relationship with opposing counsel. This is not an easy task and was not always immediate. But in all cases, whether it took one hearing or three, it became clear that the Judge respected Scott and gave his statements and arguments more consideration than the opposing counsel. I am glad that I found Scott and that he was able to help me efficiently resolve my matter while reducing the emotional pain that I had to endure. I can not recommend Scott strongly enough. Hire this guy if you want your divorce to take as long as possible!! My abusive, soon-to-be ex-wife, hired this attorney to defend her in the order of protection case that I filed against her as well as the divorce. She was served 1/23/19. They filed the divorce petition February 4th, 2019 and they have YET TO HAVE ME SERVED!! So if you want your divorce to take as long as humanly possible, this is the guy you should hire. My lawyer has called repeatedly and there is no response! He also said that our order of protection hearing would take 3 hours. So we had to sit and wait all day in Travis county for a courtroom to open up for a 3 hour trial. Once we got in the courtroom it took 45 minutes. So he got paid $250 to $300 an hour to just sit and wait. On the 5th of February a subpoena was served to deputy Ybarra to speak on my behalf in the order of protection case that was to be heard on the 6th of February. I havent moved. I still work the same job from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. I still have the same phone number. So Im not quite sure what the holdup is but Im ready to get on with my life and leave this in the past!
