Popped by for a morning brew, excellent coffee and friendly service. Scones were dry, I didn t really enjoy mine. Also it s cashless which may be easy for some folk but makes it harder for those that often rely on cash and the cash economy- such as migrant workers, paperless and tourists. Could do better in a so called progressive city.

YEA so this is my favorite coffee shop in Austin, TX. They have artsy gifts you can buy as well as vegan sweets. One time I went there and they gave me a vegan homemade pop tart for free randomly and it made my day. Places like this are what make Austin so fun :)

We came in on a rainy wknd recently and had a lovely mid-day snack. Colleen whipped up an awesome oat milk iced latte and really steered us in all the best directions with pastry choices the blueberry-lemon scones were flat-out awesome and the little ones with us couldnt get enough of the artisan pop-tarts (or the plain ol ice pops).

First time there for a local meet up with a club Im in, and I was pleasantly surprised at this place! Its small, but cozy. The staff were polite and super helpful with all my questions. Though I am not a coffee person, I asked for their sweetest drink and their Marshmallow Latte didnt disappoint! Plus, they have a large selection of local vendors in the back, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My only complaint is theres no designated parking, so youll either have to pay to park in the parking lot across the street, or park on the curb in the nearby residential neighborhood. Despite this, it didnt dampen my experience with Dear Diary Coffee.

Horrific establishment lately. As a local, I ve been coming here for years. The last few times have been really disappointing especially with the food quality, and today was down right disrespectful. I was using the printer-I ve used it hundreds of times over the years. It s easy enough & you pay before. I go in this morning, & it s completely off so I ask the barista to help out and explain I ve already paid but the printer isn t turning on. She says oh haha I have no idea . Turns away from me As if I was asking a patron? I said oh okay, can you ask someone who can help then? And explained this is time sensitive. She said haaa I m the only one here and went back to sitting behind the counter I asked if she minds if I then play around with the plugs, and light switches, or if she d like to do that and help since she works there and I wouldn t want to cause damage. This got her attention enough to walk 3 steps closer but certainly not to help the only person in the store who just tipped her 20% - LOL - She said I told my manager we should throw it away. This never works.. I told her actually it does, I used it a few days ago and most employees are eager and ready to help if a customer has already paid and the printer isn t on. I asked her if she could reach out to her manager to help since I ve paid and need this printed by a deadline & she was refusing to help and she said no my managers sleeping - she sleeps late.. haa I asked her what she suggests I do at this point. My mind was absolutely blown. I explained in every way I could. Safe to say me and the rest of the neighborhood are pivoting to Bennu. Get better staff & treat the locals who have been coming to you for years with respect. Don t ever say to someone that your manager sleeps late and then ignore them when they want help.

First time trying this place. The shop was welcoming and had warmth. The barista was very friendly. The cortado was terrible. The milk was split and you could see the separation through the glass, had a terrible burnt taste to it and just generally a terrible drink overall. Sad to say, didnt finish it and left. Planned on posting up for a while and getting some work done but the school cafeteria vibe wasnt it. After $6 wasted I suppose I will just stick to what I know around town but at least gave it a shot. Im sure this all comes from a good heart and place so sorry about the low stars.

The cafe had a cute vibe that was quite charming. What I particularly appreciated was their commitment to supporting local artists, with art adorning the walls that added to the cozy atmosphere. The friendly service further enhanced the experience, making it feel like a welcoming community hub. Although their specialty coffee was on the expensive side ($8 including tax+tip), I decided to give the barista-recommended spiced vanilla latte a try, and unfortunately, it didnt quite live up to the high expectations. Nevertheless, the cafe proved to be a good study/work spot, offering a comfortable and conducive environment for productivity.

Dear Diary clearly focuses on helping local business and if for nothing else, I know my wife will be back for the cute ceramics. The service was great as well and the owner was there and available for us to talk to - not hidden away at all. I love this because it s great to hear the heart behind a business with someone s unique spin.

Dear Diary Coffee is an excellent brand that offers some of the best coffee Ive tasted. The company sources its coffee beans from sustainable farms and roasts them to perfection, resulting in a rich and flavorful cup of coffee. I recently tried their Ethiopian Yirgacheffe blend, and I was blown away by its bright acidity, fruity notes, and subtle chocolate undertones. The aroma alone was enough to make me want to dive right in. What sets Dear Diary Coffee apart from other brands is their commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. As someone who cares about the impact my purchases have on the world, its refreshing to find a brand that aligns with my values.

I very rarely leave negative reviews, so consider this both a warning for customers and a piece of advice for owners. Don t get the tacos. I realize this is a coffee shop and not a taco shop, but if you want food just get a donut. The tacos are 1 pretty flavorless and more importantly 2 wrapped in paper. Why are we wrapping tacos in paper you guys ?? They stuck to the paper and not only fell apart, but then tasted like paper. Literally such an easy fix, just use aluminum foil (the paper isn t even recyclable because food sticks to it, and frankly recycling metal is better for the environment anyway if that s what you re going for). My biggest red flag in coffee shops is paper cups in a dine-in setting. They quite literally sell mugs and ceramics and stuff, why am I drinking coffee out of paper in the shop? The space is a little awkward. Between the somewhat cramped shelves where they sell things, there s not much room for tables. Despite this, they really packed in as many tables as possible. With this many tables you d expect there to be a ton of people, but most of them were empty (even on a Saturday morning). Easy fix, lose a table. Positives: the spiced vanilla thing is good, and the donut is actually quite good. I was very pleasantly surprised by the donut. Staff was pleasant.

This place is awesome! Great snacks, coffee, staff, and local art for sale. Miles made me this amazing iced black matcha latte, which Id never heard of before. I dont think its on the menu but I super recommend it. Its like matcha but made with Earl Grey instead of green tea.

Ive been here a few times and I must say I really enjoy the coffee and products of local artists they have around the shop! The staff is friendly and it is a cool cozy cafe to study in. There is only one thing that bothers me, which is the uneven tables that dont provide a stable working/study surface.

The food is delicious and locally made with dietary restrictions in mind. The baristas are always kind and the owner is the best! She makes their own oat milk!! It used to have a lot of seating, but now they are a mini market of sorts for local artists, which is fabulous for anyone who has something to share. Vegetarian options: A lot of juices and sacks that are vege friendly Dietary restrictions: The shop offers a lot of gluten-free baked goods. Parking: I usually bike there, so Im not sure about the car situation. Wheelchair accessibility: Its on a walkway, so once youre on the sidewalk...its easy to access.

UPDATE: Adding a star due to management s responsiveness and sincere desire to create a positive experience with customers. It s much appreciated Honestly might have just been a one-time off experience. I wanted to love this place CONS: I stopped in during the Austin Studio Tour on 11/12am. I was the only customer in line and stood at the counter while the employees saw me, didn t greet me and continued to finish their personal conversation. I was far more friendly and welcoming to them than they were to me. I tried to not let this color the experience. I asked for the nitro cold brew. They were out of nitrogen so I was offered the regular cold brew.. totally fine, it happens. Then was asked if I wanted anything in it I said 2% was fine, forgetting they were a vegan coffee shop. The employee was pretty rude and short with me when correcting me on this. It came across very pretentious and judgmental. No problem I was fine with almond milk. So I paid, tipped on principal and left. It was easily the worst coffee I have had in a very long time. It tasted terrible. The almond milk look separated. I took two sips and had to throw it out. PROS: the location is very cute and I love that they support local artists.

This is the only vegan coffee shop in my neighborhood. I come here every week with my son to enjoy a yummy sweet treat and a coffee inside. Lately, it feels that this place has been loosing human warmth and friendliness. No smile nor nice greetings from the employees. I get it that you can have a bad day once but this starts to be the norm at Dear Diary. I still want to support this woman-owned business and I enjoy the cute art stuffs displayed, I just wish the people were more welcoming.

Alternative milk options are good to have, setting that as the default is fine but you need to make the customer aware thats what theyre getting. There are still plenty of us that dont like plant based milk in our coffee, leading to frustration and a waste of $6 on a cappuccino.

Staff is great, vibe is great, art and merch are great. Just getting super expensive and changing like everything else. Scone or a slice of banana bread costs $6. Iced Chai is $8 with tip. Tacos are now bought frozen and microwaved for you, instead of served fresh (which is totally fine to buy frozen if you want to save it for later!) Idk, times are tough, it s a bummer. I ll save my visits for special mornings now (like when they have bogo cold brew, yum) Edit: I changed my review from 4-5 stars. Thanks to response from owner

Great place to get coffee and vegan tacos and pastries. The baristas are very kind, loved seeing local artwork, and the decor is very nice. It tends to stay quite there among the customers as people are mostly coming in to work versus socialize and there is limited seating but overall its a great place and I am very excited to come back. This is such a nice place to come and see cute art and have coffee! I ve attended quite a few events here and have visited on my own. It s very small inside and you have to park on the street. It s not too terrible and there s usually an open spot pretty close. They are a vegan coffee shop which is awesome but that does mean there s no dairy creamer as a heads up! They say that every time, even though I already know, so it s a little annoying but I understand it s their job. The customer service is a little cold and seemingly annoyed but they are quick which I appreciate the most.

My favorite coffee place in Austin! Im not strictly vegan but I love their coffee drinks; oat milk is the regular milk choice but I like the matcha latte with hemp milk! Theyve got a great golden latte, too. The staff are super nice, barista Bradley helped me fix an issue with my card charge after checkout and was super helpful. The baristas will give fun drink recs for you too if you ask! The shop sells artwork and comic zines by local artists, as well as pens/notebooks/stickers/etc if you feel like getting creative while you hang out. The art displays on the wall are always changing. If you want a snack, I highly recommend the donuts (also vegan, also delicious!) and the popovers, too. Afiak theres not a parking lot, and I never have issues finding street parking on the block. And every Wednesday they have BOGO cold brew. ;^) Love spending a weekend afternoon here!
