On my birthday I celebrate Holy Mass with God my Creator and then I continue the day. This cathedral in Austin smells sacred. Incense permeated my nostrils when I opened the door. Walking toward the entrance I saw a pigeon sitting on the head of a statue of the Sacred Heart ofJesus. I said, Get off Jesus head. Pigeon ignored me. I made it in time for the rosary, Angelus and Mass. I always feel home when I walk into a Catholic Church. Jesus is the first to wish me Happy Birthday. So much to be grateful for. Thank you God for never forgetting me. I love you.

Stunning beautiful and embracing Cathedral. I visited on a Saturday morning and the church was quiet, filled with light and the peace of Jesus. Absolutely stunning. I look forward to praising God at mass one day soon in this beautiful cathedral. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us. Saint Mary Cathedral Diocese of Austin Important Dates FacebookXPinterestLinkedInShare 1852: Began as St. Patrick Church, located at 9th and Brazos streets 1866: Name changed to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church 1874: New church construction began at 10th and Brazos streets 1884: Church construction completed April 20, 1884: New church dedication Nov. 15, 1947: Church designated a cathedral April 2, 1973: Building listed in the National Register of Historical Places Who are we? Saint Mary Cathedral consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds. Whomever you are, you are assured a very warm welcome at the Cathedral. When to arrive: If you plan on attending a Mass and its your first visit, then its recommended to arrive 15 minutes early before Mass. For the Easter and Christmas Masses, you should plan to arrive 45 minutes to an hour, due to the amount of people that attend. Parking:**Please note recent changes to parking** After 5pm M-F and all day Sat and Sun: Free parking is available in Capital Parking Tower Garage located off of San Jacinto. You can get your parking ticket validated in the Donohue Center Gym. Street/metered parking is free Saturday before 11am and all day Sunday and Mon and Tues evenings. M-F before 5pm We are no longer able to have free parking in the garage due to changes in the garage managements policies (which we do not control). You can still use the garage but will have to pay. Street/metered parking will usually be the most economical option. Street parking is free before 8am Mon-Fri. What to wear: Please dress in a way that will allow you and others around you to focus on God without the danger of being distracted by your attire. Modesty is a must, simplicity is better, cleanliness is helpful and comfort is holy. Does the Cathedral just meet on Sundays? Of course not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to Him. To further encourage us outside of the Mass, we have several ministry opportunities. Getting involved in a ministry is a great way to get to know others in the parish and to be real with each other about everyday living.

We went to Mass here at 7:30am on Sunday. We liked the variety of services they had on their website. The opportunity to have Ordinary form Latin Mass is nice. The church is beautiful. The kneelers on cabinet sliders is the most unique feature I have seen in a while.

Crushing the faithful that attend the Latin mass, the language that exorcists use to fight demons. An absolute tragedy. Satan is thrilled by this decision to stop any Latin mass. Please pray for all to be more filled with faith and inclusion for those who love the beauty of this language and for all to be more knowledgeable about it. Regina Coeli, Ora Pro Nobis!

USES Austin. St Mary Cathedral. This is Austins half-million Catholic flagstone Cathedral of the Diosesis. Consecrated to Saint Mary. It was completed in 1874, its Gothic style can only be seen in its limestone façade. Internally it was remodeled in the last century, with a warmer atmosphere that evokes nature. Especially full starry sky on the ceiling of the altar. A very well justified visit.

Attended the 730am Sunday Latin Low, Sacrifice of the Mass. Mass was beautifully offered with reverence, and respect. The cathedral is beautiful but it was disheartening to read that the high altar and communion rail were removed in the 1940s and unfortunately never returned. A huge table stood in front of the altar which detracted from the glory of the Sacrifice. The stained glass windows are incredible and the outside facade is amazing. I thought I would be just as impressed with the interior, but again, it seems like the revolution has taken its toll on the sanctuary of what must have been an amazing cathedral.
