One of the decent BBQ restaurants in Austin. This restaurant is one of the few decent places to eat while in downtown Austin. This restaurant always has events and concerts. I enjoyed their brisket, pulled pork, fries and cornbread. The restaurant wasn t overly busy for a weekend. Kansas City definitely has better BBQ. My biggest criticism is the customer service. Based on the reviews, apparently I m not the only person that has had issues with the customer service at Stubbs. I felt like the servers were rushing me and were rude. As soon as the server came over, they immediately asked if I was ready to order everything which is very rude. Parking: Parking spots are non existent. This is downtown. You have to take a ride share service or a bus or pay to park in the garage or street.

We were here for the Connor price concert. Little frustrating with gate opening times etc but I wanna absolutely hardcore commend Lawrence on the response/medical team. He saw my friend got sick and immediately ran over to check on us. Made sure everyone was ok and wanted to do absolutely everything he could to ensure our family was having a good memorable time at the concert. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE promote or give raise to this dude. He saved the night in so many ways and is a top tier dude working for yall

Pulled pork sandwiches, chopped beef sandwiches, jalapeno chopped beef sandwiches, and sausage taco or wrap. The kids had a really good time! Kid-friendliness: It was a kid concert and they loved it!

Stubbs BBQ is the soul of Austin, where music and food fuse into something unforgettable. Walking in, youre immediately immersed in the rich history of the venue. The walls are adorned with signed posters, each a tribute to legendary performances that have echoed through this iconic space. It s a living museum of Austin s music scene, but the food is just as much the star of the show. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich, and each bite was a smoky revelation deep, bold, and layered with flavor. The onion rings were crispy and indulgent, while the mashed potatoes and gravy offered a comforting balance. My family sampled ribs and BBQ chicken plates, and the portions were spot-on, leaving us satisfied but not overwhelmed. Stubbs is the rare place where the quality of the BBQ lives up to the legend; the fact that their sauce is available nationwide is a testament to that. The only downside was the kids chicken tenders were store bought and frozen, the kids didnt mind, but I was disappointed. The two-story venue has a roadhouse vibe that feels both timeless and electric. Bars on both levels keep the drinks flowing, and clever drink catchers on the balcony protect the crowd below. Every detail at Stubb s seems designed with the guests in mind. It s not just a meal, or even just a concert Stubb s is an experience, the beating heart of Austin. Kid-friendliness: They have a limited kids menu.

This is my least favorite music venue. I agree with the other reviews that say it seems like they overbook for the size of the venue. The general admission area is long and narrow which makes it even worse because if you end up standing near the front and have to use the porta pottie at some point, you have to barge through a million people to get out and its claustrophobic. I would consider going back to see a small artist but no one super popular. Theyve also been known to be super strict about what you bring inside so I would just bring your phone and keys so they dont give you a hassle.

Excellent place to stop at while in Austin, delicious food! My pulled pork was moist and spot on. Onion rings and pinto beans were great too. Served with raw onions and pickles on the side. A real cool place as well with wood floors and music gig posters on the wall, I hope next time Im in town to catch a live act in the downstairs area. Stubbs for life!

I strongly advise not going to this venue for a concert! Ive been twice now and both times have they overbooked the venue, leading to a line wrapped around the building, which is normally fine if you have coordinated staff that actually knows how to guide people. Both times have they booked past maximum capacity and still desperately tried to shove people inside, people were literally flowing out of the venue because there is no where to stand save for being dangerously squeezed close to everyone in the middle. Its very poorly managed by rude staff that threw the backs around during the security check. They yelled at someone for standing on the stairs because there was literally no where else for him to stand, and they kept waving flashlights in our eyes to try to make us squeeze tighter. The end of the line has only two people struggling to secure wristbands instead of having multiple workers walk through the line checking IDs, always resulting in an uncoordinated, traffic jam-like line organized by only random two cones and lousy caution tape. The shows either start an hour early or an hour late, so because of how badly the staff organizes these events and how carelessly they try to cram too many people into a small venue, definitely look elsewhere for a good concert experience.

The only reason I would go to Stubbs is if there is a show you are interested in attending. Grab a beer and avoid the food. I ve been to the restaurant once (years ago) and (my own fault) decided to grab a sandwich from its post at the Moody Center while attending a concert a few months back. It was horrible. Dried meat on a bun. I didn t want to miss any of the show so did not return to the post until the next night (I was there on back to back days). I asked to speak with the manager, to whom I relayed my concerns. She could have cared less. Essentially ignored me and acted like what do you want me to do about it? An apology and an offer of another sandwich would have been nice, a refund even better. Received neither. There are plenty of worthy bbq joints in Austin. Avoid this one.

This is an updated review after coming for a second time and getting a much lower quality experience than the first time I was here. First off, Anthony & Rey took such good care of us on our first visit. Talked to my kid, gave great menu advice, knowledgeable about the food and gave attentive service. I visited a second time a week later and had a different experience. Nothing was bad. But also nothing reached the levels of our first time at stubbs. Service was fine but not great. Food was fine but not great. Brisket was not as flavorful, seasoning was a little bit all over the place with some dishes being overly salted with others lacking flavor and needing salt. Appetizer was overcooked. Some of the meats were overcooked. Portions were just a bit smaller. Again nothing was terrible but not in a rush to come back like I was after my first trip just one week earlier... so overall a little bit disappointing.

BBQ is ok, but the place is a bad ass music venue. They host all sorts of shows and can accommodate a fair amount of people comfortably. It gets packed closer to the stage, but theres plenty of space about halfway back if you get claustrophobic. There are also bars situated around the entire amphitheater where they sell beer, NA beverages like Red Bull, and bbq sandwiches. The food isnt fantastic, but its good when youre at a concert and starving. The sheer number of bars around helps keep the wait for a drink to a minimum. There are also bathrooms at multiple locations, including a port-a-can village in the way back. Overall, its a really enjoyable place to attend a concert, especially a rock concert. My husband and I went to see Clutch play on Feb 23, which was phenomenal. Weve also seen Rollins Band and Motörhead (among others) play here in the past.

Came here Saturday for brunch and the food wasn t great. They only have $40 all you can eat option with limited selections. Felt like they only give you the left over cuts from leftover last night. Super dry, flat cut of brisket. Only thing good was the cheddar and jalapeño sausage. Chicken, potatoes, eggs, bacon, service all mid. Maybe if we came for dinner with live music it would be a different experience.

Definitely not worth the money in my opinion...then to make matters worse a couple of locals told us we shouldnt have went there and that there was two other Barbecue establishments that were way, way better...SMH

This evening with Russell Crowe and the Gentlemen Barbers may have been great for the people who bought the expensive VIP tickets, but GA ticket holders were forced to stand outside in 108° temperatures for an hour past the scheduled 7:00 pm start time. Several people asked what the hold up was and were told there was nothing they could do. All the while, VIP ticket holders were coming and going in and out to place their signed memorabilia in their car. And yet we still stood outside in a line in 108° heat, no breeze, no water stations. I went and pointed out to the security personnel that it was 108° and the national weather service has a heat advisory in effect; this fell on completely deaf ears. Stubbs, you placed 50-100 people in danger of heat related illness. I suspect the paramedics I saw leaving were related to heat exhaustion. You REALLY should know better. Seriously.

Horrible horrible service at this venue. Didn t try the food as I was here a concert, staff and management do not communicate. Staff kept telling us to line up at one spot only to tell us we re in the wrong line. Management gives you an attitude for any comment you have. They lack respect and people skills. If they say doors open at x time. That s a lie. You go in whenever they let you. The time on the event doesn t matter. On top of all of this, we had to stand in line. Outside in the hot sun. While staff sat idly by under the shade drinking cold water. Overall, would not recommend this place. Staff with attitude, they wont let you in even though they themselves set a door open time, selection of drinks is horrible. Restrooms for non VIP tickets are subpar. C-

Hey, so we stopped at Stubbs Bar-B-Q and it was totally worth it! The place has a really cool vibe. The restaurant and a small bar are on the first floor, and then downstairs they have a concert area and another bar. The staff was super friendly and quick with our orders. The food was amazing! We got the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and fries on the side. The mac and cheese was bomb! We also ordered the three-meat sampler with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The ribs were my favorite! We also got some cornbread and fried okra, which were both really good. Well definitely be going back!

During my recent trip to Austin, I had the pleasure of dining at Stubbs BBQ, conveniently located across the street from my hotel. This was my first visit to the restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Ambiance and Decor: Stepping into Stubbs BBQ felt like a journey back in time to an old western saloon. The decor was fantastic, creating an authentic and inviting atmosphere. It truly captured the essence of a classic BBQ joint, adding to the overall dining experience. Service: Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the bartender and a server. I was seated immediately, which was impressive given the increasing number of patrons as the evening progressed. The dining room was initially quiet, but it quickly filled with both locals and tourists, creating a lively and enjoyable environment. Food and Drinks: Being my first visit, I decided to play it safe and ordered the Chicken Sandwich, Potato Salad, and Hand-Cut Fries. The food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. The Chicken Sandwich was juicy and flavorful, enhanced by the excellent BBQ sauce that you can add to your liking. The Potato Salad was reminiscent of my grandmas recipe perfectly seasoned and incredibly tasty. The Hand-Cut Fries were hot, freshly cut, and wonderfully crispy. A pleasant surprise was discovering that the restaurant is associated with the same man who created Stubbs BBQ Sauce, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience. The drinks were supersized, though the large size of the glasses meant the straws were a bit too short. A minor issue, but slightly inconvenient. Overall Experience: I enjoyed my meal so much that I returned the next day. Consistency is key, and Stubbs BBQ delivered on both visits. The servers were friendly and attentive, and the food was reasonably priced, making it an excellent value for the quality. I do not have a single complaint about this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the ambiance was perfect. Whether youre a local or a tourist, I highly recommend Stubbs BBQ for a fantastic dining experience.

I brought my company here for a family meal before our big event this weekend.. We estimated we would have 25 people, but only 20 could make it.. They required that we all buy the Shared All You Can Eat style option of $39.95 per person. We ordered appetizers, but the waitress wouldnt let people start their own orders for alcohol, oh well. The bill still reflected 25 people even though only 20 people showed up and 20 people worth of food was delivered. It was quite literally the same amount of food they would have brought out if there were one or two extra people at each of our three tables. Its a great business practice; zero extra cost for an extra $200.00 -- Id do it too. But on my side of things, nope. That is not how you get anyone to ever come back. Our waitress had already been guaranteed 20% gratuity on top of the $1200 we had already spent, so she had NO interest in making our experience any better. Aside from never going here again as a party because theyre not set up for large parties in any fashion, I would probably not return for the mediocre food. They offered sides of things like macaroni and cheese that was clearly out of a box of velveeta. The ribs were REALLY good, the chicken was dry but pretty tasty, pulled pork was mediocre, but okay for Texas, and the brisket was passable. I did enjoy the nachos, but they were basic.. hard to mess up foodservice cheese sauce on top of Tostitos. If not for the mediocre sides, the subpar service, and the hateful overbilling for food, I would probably have gone with four stars. Well take our business, quite literally, anywhere else in this fantastic city.

The brisket was great but I should have asked for more of the fatty part. The ribs were really good as well. Tender and delicious. The onion rings were awful. Raw underneath the breading. The cornbread was also terrible. Not a bit sweet and no salt at all. Literally a loaf of cornmeal. The worst thing by far though was the bathroom. The men s room was absolutely disgusting. I had to wade through a basement from the movie Dusk Till Dawn to get to a back alley area where the bathroom was. The place needed to be cleaned with a flame thrower. It was a bathroom so disgusting, the only way to really clean it is to tear the entire building down and rebuilt it all.

The brisket was great! I was a little disappointed in the sausage. It was dry. The potato salad was decent. Fried okra was amazing. Beans were ok. Our waiter was nice and precise. Parking: During the day we were able to park right up front. On a weekend night it would be hard to find parking Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp right up front for wheel chairs

The service was excellent. Very friendly people working there, and very fast. The food was the terrible part. I never knew brisket could be that dry and tasteless. No amount of BBQ sauce could help that beef jerky slide down. I usually never waste food, especially when its as expensive as this was. But, I physically could not get these pieces of brisket down. The smoked chicken had a very off-putting fishy flavor. It surprisingly was not dry but had a very unusual flavor. The sausages were wonderful. The mac and cheese wasnt bad, and again, the service was great. But that brisket....never again.

Me and my partner saw Madison Beer last night and she put on an amazing show! The staff was very helpful and understanding of our needs for ADA seating. However, there needs to be a better system for separating ADA seating and VIP seating, as we were constantly being knocked into and blocked by people who were standing. Have yet to try the food but it smelled good!

A friend and I attended the Knocked Loose show on 5/6. A guy who was obviously security walked behind us at one point and full-on grabbed my waist with both hands and then groped my friends breast. The audience was also filled with people who were way too drunk. Ive been to many metal and hardcore shows, and this was one of the worst crowds Ive seen. Definitely not going to return to this venue.

Soo, I hate to be a jerk but this place is over rated for food. Mac and cheese tastes like boxed Velveeta, the okra was fine, the brisket was moist but had zero flavor. Their bbq sauce tastes like Arby s sauce and the straws are too small for the cups so I had to keep reaching my finger in my drink. I was not impressed by the food at the least I m sure the vibe is fun when there is a concert but I wouldn t recommend going there just for the food.

I m rating the barbecue sauce. I live in So CA, I buy the original & spicy sauce at Stater Bros. We go through 3 - 4 bottles per mo. The best sauce in our book! We put that sauce on everything! One day I m going to visit Texas and visiting Stubs. Atmosphere : 5/5

I was just here for a concert and was absolutely mortified. Worst experience i ve had for a concert and I ve been to many. The security did absolutely NOTHING when i was on barricade begging to get out because i was getting squished and about to pass out. The whole venue is set up horribly with the tent blocking all air circulation for the people. Would definitely not recommend for a good time.

The meat & side dishes were really good. The drinks they were talking up were only okay. The rooms had a lot of echo , so it was difficult to carry on a 4 or more person conversation. Possibly, if they had their music going & some patio seating might have helped. Plan on a long walk or Uber to get to the location.

This review is in relation to venue for events like concerts at the stubbs amphitheater, this venue has a strict policy on size of bags, I had a cross over tactical bag barely fit in box on clipboard they had I took chance finally after an hour waiting to get in the show in looking line I get to security they straight tell me I cant take it in. I mentioned they told me earlier it barely fit it might be ok, they said no. I asked can I leave it up front get it later they said no again. I mentioned their site or where I purchased tickets never mentioned about policy they should make it clear. I was told I could walk back to my car which was like half a block away I asked if I do , do I just get back here to security an go in because I have my son? The lady said no you have to go back in line. The hellllll with that the line was like 2 blocks or more long I didnt wait an hr to get to the back again so I threw my bag out unfortunately. Anyway be sure if you take a bag its size of a fanny pack. They offer free water I didnt know spent $8 for 2 bottles of water.

Worst concert venue I have ever experienced, out of thousands of venues I have been too! Payed for VIP packages for my family, only to find out they didnt have a VIP area! Heard the concert from the street with our VIP access due too it was way over capacity, everyone there was very rude!!! I dont recommend anyone to go through this awful experience!

I came here for a concert unexpectedly- daughter was coming and had a heart issue so I had to come too. I was worried about not being with her when she went in for VIP pass stuff, Gina worked with me and allowed me to accompany her- so she wasn t more than 25 feet away or out of site. I have never been so impressed with customer service. People like her are few and far between. She made sure my kid had a great experience and that I wasn t worried all night. She made this experience so much better than what I was expecting. A win in my book for Stubb s.

Some people pay good money to see shows. The people who go to shows at Stubbs pay good money to talk over the artist. It s literally infuriating!! After going to many shows here over the past couple years, I refuse to go to any more concerts here. Not because the BBQ is mid, the drinks are expensive, but because I didn t just pay $50+ to listen to your conversation. PLEASE stop talking during concerts!!
