A Bittersweet Birthday at Launderette My recent birthday dinner at Launderette motivated me enough to write a negative review. While Ive enjoyed the restaurants innovative flavors and chic ambiance, my experience this time around fell short of expectations and soured the night. Our server, Ted, was a true highlight. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, especially considering it was his first night. His service was a bright spot in an otherwise meh evening. I was hoping for a little something extra to mark the occasion since I indicated as such when making the reservation. Sadly there wasnt any acknowledgment from the host or management; and we also had a slight mishap with a cake we brought, which we werent aware couldnt be consumed at the restaurant. While I understand the policy, the way it was handled felt a bit curt with absolutely no room for compromise. A gentler approach would have been appreciated since the cake was unopen, still in its chilled box, and we had a spare chair. Comparing this to a previous experience at Juliet where they wished my partner a happy birthday, presented a small candle with dessert, and a personalized note (no bigger than a business card), highlighted the missed opportunity at Launderette. Here are some additional observations from our meal: The burrata was delicious; the branzino was a revelation for my bestie (I ve never had branzino and I cried [happy tears]; and the bistro steak was cooked to perfection. The desserts, particularly the corn cake and chocolate cremeux, were delightful. A few of the vegetable dishes were slightly undercooked. The broccolini, in particular, could have been more manageable with a different cut. The acorn squash had an uneven texture. While the ice cream sandwich was delicious, it would have been easier to share if pre-sliced. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the lack of attention to detail and the cake incident detracted from the celebration. I have no doubt that Launderette can be a magical experience again, they just have to remember the basics of creating a warm & welcoming guest experience.

Where do I begin with this magical gem of a place? My experience there was wonderful. I had the shawarma cauliflower bowl and hummus with seeded crackers. My meal was a dream for someone who prioritizes nutrition and a plant-based lifestyle. The ingredients are so fresh and great quality. The hummus had a delightful dance of olive tapenade, beautiful fresh rosemary and walnut (very healthy) oil. It was exquisite! The cauliflower flower bowl had an incredibly beautifully balanced composition of perfectly pickled cabbage, arugula, golden raisins and tahini. Fresh herbs included. The balance of heat, sweet and rainbow coloring on the plate was superb. Let s talk about the decor. Gorgeous succulent landscape, carefully crafted interior design details and even the women s bathroom had the most beautiful wallpaper in it. A very pleasant restroom indeed. My girlfriend and I had a very unusual request of the staff. We like to drink tumeric tea after our meals for improved digestion. Not only was our request obliged free of charge (we were given a pot of hot water, 2 mugs and tumeric), the quality, the grind and color of the tumeric was supreme. I loved every minute of my experience at Launderette the quiet location, the service (thanks Maddy), the menu, the food, the decor. Ten out of Ten!

The daily special, cranberry/apple brioche, was not my favorite. The brioche had a great texture but the flavor of the bread and the cranberry/apple compotes tasted store bought. The cortado was very good. For the main dish, we ordered the everything biscuit and the pork shoulder hash. The flavors were good in the everything biscuit, but it doesnt work well as a sandwich. The pork shoulder hash checks off most boxes but didnt need the salsa verde. The big negative on both these dishes was that the eggs were improperly cooked. The eggs were supposed to be sunny side up but had fully cooked yolks on the bottom. The portions were also small. The patio furniture was nice but I hated the view of the parking lot. Would benefit from adding greenery/fence between the parking lot and the patio. Overall, it was an okay experience but I wouldnt choose this restaurant again.

This is my favorite brunch restaurant in Austin and has been for the past 6 years. I first took my *long distance boyfriend* here in 2018 and it was just the best. The service is great, the coffee is great, I have sat outside, inside, and at the bar and I have loved all of the experiences. The menu is diverse and I have been having the fried chicken sammy for the past 6 years and have never gotten sick of it. So much so this is where that same *long distance boyfriend* booked our engagement brunch with our parents and out of town friends. We have probably been here over 20 times in the past 6 years and it is such a staple! Cannot recommend it enough! For the details: They have handicap accessibility, cater to food allergies (I am allergic to nuts), the service is top notch PLUS they have a parking lot.

Back at Launderette for lunch. This is one of my favorite Austin places. You can always find something light and delicious to break up all the bbq. This time around did fried shrimp, Crab Louie salad, Chicken Paillard and a side of brussels sprouts. Would recommend all. Burger is excellent as well.

We visited with an open mind and left with a ruined afternoon. Started with a terrible host who was very unwelcoming. The menu seemed interesting, we had pork hash which is really just two slimy eggs and some old pork scrapings. My wife had the famous salmon, shes now on the toilet so beware. Everything seemed packaged even the fancy sounding cinnamon roll which was coated with apple jam from Randals. Last time we visit this place. Two plates and a cinnamon roll with waters was $60 which I feel was a complete waste. So disappointed.

I m not a foodie or anything. Just a normal guy who happened to be in this area for dinner. I thought it was good, and certainly a fair value for a restaurant of decent repute. 2 people had three plates (shawarma cauli, roasted sweet potato, and burrata) and two beers for $50. Vegetarian options: I m vegetarian. I ate here no problem. Some of the vegetable dishes did have meat in them though (eg bacon in the Brussels sprouts. maybe they can be made without it. I didn t ask)

Launderette in Austin offers a delightful culinary experience. The fried shrimp was a crispy delight, and the branzino, cooked to perfection, showcased the kitchens skill. However, the pork ribs, enhanced by a fiery sambal, truly stole the show. The meat fell off the bone effortlessly, and the kick of the sambal was the perfect complement. While the food was exceptional, a small disappointment marred the evening. Celebrating my girlfriends birthday, I had hoped for a special dessert to cap off the occasion. Despite informing the staff of the celebration, no extra touches were added. Its a minor critique, but it prevented Launderette from earning a full five stars. Nevertheless, the restaurants strong food offerings make it a worthy destination for any foodie visiting Austin.

The chicken sandwich despite have all sorts of sauces and accompaniments felt slightly mild and the ratio of bun definitely overwhelms. Would come back but not immediately rushing there.

I would ve given 5 stars, but there were a few issues. First, they couldn t make me a drink from the dinner menu during brunch, which seemed odd. I understand that brunch can be a busy time, but that shouldn t prevent them from accommodating such a request. Additionally, we were allowed to make a reservation at 2 PM but were then pressed to order food by 2:30 PM because the kitchen was closing. This detail should have been outlined in the reservation confirmation, as it made us feel rushed upon seating. The restaurant was also uncomfortably cold inside. On the positive side, the crab salad and my espresso martini were amazing, which redeemed the experience somewhat. Despite the issues, I would consider returning, but the ambience, the rushed service, and the inability to order from the regular drink menu during brunch left me a bit disappointed. I d suggest expanding the cocktail menu for brunch or having the ingredients from the dinner menu available so if someone orders it, the answer isn t just no, but instead provide some alternatives or something similar.

My sister and I stopped by here after a morning of kayaking. The parking lot is small. My sister is disabled, and we were there during a non busy time, so we were able to park in the accessible parking. The ramp to get into the restaurant is a bit narrow (sorry - should have taken a pic) but she was able to navigate it pretty easily with a standard size chair. I didnt see an ADA button on the door, but I was there to open it. The hostess stand is close by, so I imagine if you were there by yourself, they would definitely help with the door. We had one issue when asking for accessible seating at the bar and was told the lower area was being used for staging (there were napkins being folded on the area). We had the Nosh Nosh, the Crab Louie and the Fried Oyster Caesar, all of which were delicious. Also tried the TEQUILA SPRITZER, now one of my favorite drinks.

Had this on my list forever and finally made it in. Our server was good. Drinks were good. A mix of Mezcal drinks off the menu and Mezcal Old Fashioneds. Thats where our enjoyment seemed to end. Had the $18 Shrimp and $12-14 Arancini. Both were nothing special for the prices being charged--the Arancini was laughably small portioned for the price. Cauliflower and $9 Frites were both plain. Both very bland, and the fries were just that. Fries with two dipping sauces. Nothing worth $9. Sticky ribs were good, but again. Overpriced. $150+tip for a very mediocre meal. I can get a much better meal at that pricepoint from a ton of restaurants in town. Heard great things about this place, so maybe we came on an off night.

What a great neighborhood brunch spot in an old laundromat! Solid buttermilk pancakes with blueberry maple compote and crème fraiche. Also a good Americana. However, the best of the best was the Pork Shoulder Hash. Perfect combination of pork together with sunny side eggs, potatoes, Brussel sprouts, and chile verde. It s an example of why brunch was invented the perfect combo of a breakfast and lunch food that meets the savory needs of the midmorning meal. The Everything Biscuit was probably our second fav. With it all, we got a sweet and savory side combo of a sticky pull apart bun and frites. Washed down with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice (from some insanely good oranges), it was a perfectly sized breakfast that didn t leave us feeling tired and bloated.

This meal was an experience! I called early in the day and changed my reservation three times and the host was a delight each time. Our service was stellar, they anticipated every need. We ordered the tartar, the crab cake and the pimento as apps and each one was mouth watering and distinct in flavor. From there we shared the burger, the brick chicken and the sticky ribs and each one was out of this world with taste. We finished it off with the birthday cake ice cream sandwich and some coffee. THIS MEAL WAS INCREDIBLE! I can t wait to get back and do a whole different menu experience!

My husband and I were looking for a spot in East Austin to hold an informal rehearsal dinner for a group of nine ahead of our wedding weekend and were drawn to Launderette right away due to their transparency surrounding large group dining. They made it clear what the up-front costs were and listed their large group menu on the reservation website. Staff members at the restaurant were also extremely responsive to our emails ahead of time regarding any questions we had. The night of the dinner the staff could not have been more welcoming or attentive, always making sure we had drinks and explaining the menu. Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend Launderette to anyone looking an excellent group dining experience in the Austin area.

I think given the price point of this place, the service and food are really poor. We made a reservation and were seated almost 20 minutes after our reservation time. Our server was very inattentive, we were out of water for almost 30 minutes before we were able to get more, the food came out at all different times. It was just a very disappointing experience given how highly rated this place is

This place is great. Our server, Cory, took care of us. The cauliflower and Brussels sprouts sides were amazing! Really good drinks, I enjoyed their MPC mocktail but the rest of our table raved about the Fox Photo and Travelers Palm. Don t skip on their desserts either the Birthday Cake Ice Cream Sandwich is delicious as well as the Espresso Chai Mousse cake. Overall great experience.

Launderette is my favorite spot in Holy. The drinks are fantastic. Food is always delicious. Service is outstanding. Brunch is great but dinner is amazing. I highly recommend the crudo and the brick chicken. But it is hard to go wrong at the place. Excited for the next time.

One of our favorite places in Austin for brunch or dinner. Top quality food, good service and very well run. For breakfast, the pastries are some of the best I ve had. Dinner, everything is good but possibly my favorite burger in Austin.

The food and drinks were excellent. We got lattes, drip coffee, and non-alcoholic rose. Everything was great; we are coffee snobs and we were very impressed with the coffee, delicious! We ordered the everything biscuit, chicken sammie, fries, and a pull apart bun to go. It was all delicious, cant think of a single thing to critique. The biscuit was particularly delicious, flakey and warm and buttery on the inside, but not overpowering. We highly recommend ordering a pull apart bun to go. Our service was also excellent, thanks to Dani. The ambiance in the restaurant was fantastic, and we could see why -- we watched as one busser cleaned a table and put it back together with incredible precision. We were impressed with Launderette on every level and will be back soon.

We went to Launderette for our 5th anniversary. Appetizer came out fast, but then we were left unattended for 30-35 minutes and our entrees never showed up. We asked for the check and to pass on the remaining food. Entrees came out soon after, but were cold.

Our new favorite restaurant in Austin after only trying this place once! First of all, its a converted laundromat, so points for reusing old building structures! The hostess with the long dark hair and all the hair jewels was extremely welcoming, as was our server. We ate at the bar, and they kept our eating area extremely clean the entire time. They have a decent happy hour, make sure to go and get a bit of a discount ;) The atmosphere is modern and is extremely clean. We had the shrimp as an appetizer, along with the crab toast and burrata. All of it was fantastic. The flavors of everything blended together super well. We got the plancha burger and the orchiette pasta. I didnt like the pasta a ton, but that may be a preference thing. It had a bit of a gritty taste. I got the fox photo cocktail, and it was phenomenal. I recommend. I also had a lavender latte, which was awesome. Well done staff (and the head chef) at Launderette. We have already recommended yall to a few of our friends. We will absolutely be coming back and bringing others!

Amazing food, OK cocktails. The crab toast appetizer was incredible. Wonderful flavour profile balancing texture and acid. The Octopus was tender and delicious, with wonderful sauce and greens The Orecchiette was unlike any pasta I ve ever had, with a tartness that makes it irresistible. The birthday cake sandwich was an amazing end to the meal. Improvement area: the cocktails. They were not as flavourful or nuanced as the food.

I wish I was here to provide a glowing review. I wish I could say the food was amazing. Sadly I can t. Pancakes were burnt. Zucchini bread came out cold with a slice of butter on top almost as big as the slice of bread. Silver lining, the lattes were excellent.

Went here for my husbands birthday dinner and the whole experience was amazing. Good food and great service. We ordered the Mediterranean appetizer, cauliflower, chicken, and birthday ice cream cake. The Mediterranean appetizer was out of the world - every element tasted so good! Cauliflower tasted amazing as well. Ice cream cake was delicious too. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Quite a few vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: High chair was available and they made a buttered pasta upon asking for a kid menu.

I m not easily impressed but this place blew me away. We showed up at opening, hoping they weren t too booked to fit us in. They happily seated us and then it began. The atmosphere, the vibe, the music, the staff, and then, my god the food. The server let us know it was happy hour. Excellent. We kept ordering one dish after another. Cocktails were great too. The bartender was very animated and on point with her drinks. Our server was fantastic but also the attentiveness of everyone in house was top notch. Plates were cleared promptly, next menu items delivered to the table by whoever was available to do so, making the entire hour and a half we spent there flow seamlessly. Everyone was happy, friendly, checking in, and made everyone feel welcome as they restaurant filled up with more people and ambient noise. I will definitely go out of my way to eat here again and bring more friends next time. The burrata is a must.
