Went here to celebrate my Birthday with my kids and my parents. The food was amazing. The best part, hands down, is the Blondie Brownie Pie which is served with Amys Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream. The menu is small, but I see that as a good thing because the cooks/Chef can focus on putting out really tasty food. The price is manageable, for 5 people around $100 was spent, not including tip. So if you are visiting or live in the Austin area, take a drive out to Oak Hill and check Jack Allens out, you will be happy you did.

Hands down to an awesome establishment. Ill be back. I do wish it was closer to south Austin. (hint hint) Lol. Summer (Sum Sum) did an extraordinary job. Definitely a people person with a vibe that cordial and welcoming. Star status on yalls team there. I also saw plenty of other positive happy workers which makes it just that much more of a serene environment that you will definitely appreciate and enjoy. Hats off. Oh, I had the Tejano enchilada. Delish.

We have been eating here regularly for at least the last 5 years. We have noticed the last couple of months that the food is sub par compared to how it used to be. If our experience doesn t change immediately we will be looking for a new go to restaurant. This is not worth the price!

Service started off very good as most of the reviews here say. The management must have been starting to cut staff into the middle portion of the dinner service because as time went on we saw our server less and less but saw she was working tables all around the restaurant. Food was good but not great. Queso dip came out warm not hot. A lot of the food was under seasoned butwell cooked and seem to be of good quality. I will likely come back again but was hoping for a little bit better given the sparkling reviews.

Food is consistent and always tastes good, the service is always great, and the vibe and atmosphere is perfect for when I take people out to lunch-it s always my go-to! Ive been eating here since they opened and can say they do a great job. Food is solid, ever changing specials menu, which includes drink specials also. Service is good, never had a bad waiter/waitress, and prices are decent. Love the guacamole, and the burger is one of the best (Hawaiian bun). My only complaint is that they do not have the Red Chili Fries on the menu anymore. Bring the fries back! Other than that, you cant go wrong with eating here!

Not sure why I haven t reviewed this place as I have gone several times. My go to is always the pork medallions. Their service and food is always great. ALSO, just a HUGE thank you for having the teacher appreciation in August. I ve been coming to JAK s since they opened. The food is good, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is friendly. My favorites are the chicken nachitos, smashed guacamole, and pulled chicken tacos (with a mexican martini please!). Such a great place! My kids appreciate the kids menu because most of the dishes are not very simple, but thats what the adults like about it! Recent visits to Jack Allen s (Oak Hill) trended toward higher and higher cost to the customer, aka Greedflation. My meal there 6/17/24 revealed a reversal: until 6:30p, some items on the appetizer list were half price, and server recommended the catfish as plenty for a meal . This was most delicious catfish. Flavorful, not overly breaded and a perfect dipping sauce. Also had the tasty pasta app. For 2 people, incl 1 margarita, 2 glasses of wine = $44 + tip.

Food was great as always. The front desk service was mediocre. We said we had an appointment and they just stared. Eventually they found our reservation & sat us. It was dead empty inside but it was a Tuesday around 2pm, so I was so used to the other locations being packed. Once that happened, the server, I forgot her name. Maybe summer. She was exquisite. Such good energy from her. When we left, we gestured by to the front desk staff and they just looked. Weird.

The ambience was amazing, beautiful string lights throughout the main dinning room. A little stream out back you could see through the far window. The bar outside and inside were both very well maintained and things didnt seem out of place at all. Keep in mind I came in at 3:00pm. This place definitely looks like it gets busy at night. I have been to this location multiple times and the atmosphere, service, and food have always been outstanding. My most recent visit was for drinks only. I like this restaurant but can only fo once a year. $22 for a steak salad! Also, the wait staff was sleeping the floor near my table. I really dont like that because I imagine dust and particle being swept into the air and into my food. I prefer wait staff to wait to clean when I leave or at empty tables away from mine. Some of the best food in Austin! You have to try this place. The flavors are amazing! The chefs are artists. The staff is friendly and engaging. They really care about your dining experience. Our waiter, Greg, was fantastic! (Pictured below). Ask for him and you won t be sorry. We had the Gorgonzola ravioli, pimento cheese dip, and the Texas fried shrimp. ( also pictured below). I ve had fried shrimp many times but what they serve here is hands down the best I ve ever had! I hated pimento cheese, but can t stop eating it here. Even their sides are delicious. Check it out! Really love the food here! I had their famous chicken fried pork chop and it deserves the rave reviews it gets! We had a table of 7 and the server (shout out to Lexy!) did a great job getting our orders and tickets sorted! The only down sides are how loud it is, the limited parking, and two of us found our wine to be not up to par. I go to jack allens in the domain all of the time this was my first visiting this location and the customer service was terrible I sat at the bar and ordered I drink I was asked for my id and gave it the bartender willinging , something told me it would be a issue . I look fairly young so I always get carded my id is a Virginia id she took my id to the back and basically came back to tell me she couldn t take my id becuse it didn t look like me and it s out of state , I ve never had that happened . I told her they were discriminatating becuse it s obviously me on the photo but I do different with lashes on . She called the manager and I hoped he would be a little more compassionate toward his customers but he was upset that I said they were being racist and dicriminating . My school id matched my government id verifying that my government id belongs to me . The managers attitude was horrible and so was the bartender . I call things how I see it and they just wanted to find any little issue not to Serve me. Even though I verified everything the manager made a comment I was gonna work with you I istantly stopped him becuse how I am the one right here and your acting like your doing me a favor when I am of legal age to drink . I immediately told him that I did not have an issue. Going to eat somewhere else the same way that I came to Jack Allen s to eat. I can go to any other restaurant eat have a good service and also get my drink. I m just gonna say that the experience was very terrible. I ve never experienced anything like that before and me. Personally, I feel like if they weren t discriminating or being racist they would ve been so upset that I was seeing it. His main problem was that I was saying that it was discrimination, which it was discrimination as a black woman, how would you feel if somebody look at you and said you don t look like the person that s on the ID even though it s your ID.

We love Jack Allens. Its a staple for good food. Today the service was very slow but maybe that should be expected on a weekend. Very happy with the food. Always. The booths at the Oak Hill location are in need of new seat cushions. If you have a bad back, I dont recommend sitting in them. Sit in a hard chair. Other than that, its always great eating.

First time here with my sister and brother in law. Is a really nice place. We sat by an awesome fireplace. It was cold out so that felt great. Food was delish Drinks were really good. Service was great. Overall Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend

Never lets me down! Ive tried almost everything on the menu and Im always blown away over how wonderfly delicious it always is. Even dishes that Im skeptical to try, are so much better then I imagined. My favorite is the fish. Both the Ruby Trout or Crusted Salmon. Fancy food with a not so fancy price! Totally affordable. Love this place!

The OG location. Construction on 71 makes turning in to the parking lot a little rough, but that s where the difficulties end (unless it s hopping, then you have to find a parking spot too). Once in, enjoy the complimentary pimento cheese and chips. I haven t had a bad cocktail here. Keep coming back to try all of them. The menu is hard because whatever I could tell you about what I had will be out of date, as they keep their menu changing. Sure, there s favorites, but come with a sense of adventure! Try something fresh and new, it won t disappoint.

January 2024: We had lunch at Jack Allen s Kitchen on a Wednesday and the place was still busy, but not as bad as on Fridays. Usually has complimentary valet parking but not on this day. Highway construction on SH 71 is starting to creep near this place and the turning lane has been removed where have to be careful crossing lanes to either get here or leave. Our server was very nice and scanned over the menu where have dined here so many times pretty much tried all the listings. I decided to choose the 5 Cheese Macaroni and Chicken. This place still has great atmosphere and it was a bit chilly where the outdoor patio was closed off. I always recommend any one of the Jack Allen s Kitchen locations to friends and out-of-town visitors. My entrée arrived and looked very presentable. The chicken was grilled and cut up in big pieces and tasted very good. The cheese macaroni was excellent as before and had great flavor. I am not sure what the five cheeses are but they all complemented each other very well. Beside the great food here the cocktails are also above the competition where I enjoyed a Tito s Sage & Grapefruit Splash. My drink was very tasty and they do have a great bar atmosphere inside and in the patio. April 2023: Jack Allen s Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants for not only tasty food but delicious mixed cocktails and great atmosphere. The Oak Hill location is not far from my home but like today always get there when they open at 11:00 AM where is quickly gets busy. Luckily complementary valet parking is provided if you can t find a spot. I decided to enjoy lunch at the bar inside however they have another bar in the covered outdoor patio. I ordered a Tito s Sage & Grapefruit Splash while looking over the menu. My drink was fantastic. I decided on the 5 Cheese Macaroni and Chicken describes as twisted elbow macaroni and achiote chicken. The staff and even those seated at the bar were all nice and friendly. I liked it while waiting for my food to be prepared. Soon my macaroni was placed in front of me and looked and smelled delicious. I was very hot and after one bite I was in heaven. All the cheeses blend well together and the chicken had great flavor. It was a great choice. Overall another great experience at Jack Allen s Kitchen in Oak Hill.

We have gone here several times, and the food tends to be very fatty (can cause you to not feel great afterwards) and just okay IMHO. I know other people that really like it, but I just dont ever want to go here unless someone I know invites us. The parking is always a concern, but the staff is always very friendly/nice.
