Always read what you re signing! I was promised to retrieve everything that was taken from me. Went thru about 5 court dates which Ms Lathorpe was not much organized but kept insisting I would get my stuff back. When the day came to sign she didn t let me read my agreement and kept telling me to sign and was never able to retrieve my things they all went to her.

Kathy laughed in a womans face when she expressed how maintenance men came in her home unlawfully and left body fluid on her and her sons things I didnt know something like that was funny or maybe my since of humor is off it was disgusting behavior absolutely horrible and she broke down crying when she said you let them in even though we were gone for four months I am outrage and disgusted in what I just witnessed shocked and really confused it was really unreal to hear what I just heard and even told her the crime unit found the body fluid and have recording of the apartment people doing it very unprofessional I am truly disappointed to my core and yelling at someone and laughing right when someone says the criminal investigations unit found bodily fluid on the kids things and her things and saying she let maintenance in definitely a well person who needs to seek help Kathy was not trying to hear anything she said and tried to victimize her I say she let maintenance in in which its on recordings that thats not the case

She didnt put much effort into my case. Each time I met with her it was as if it was her first time even hearing about my case. I had a scheduled meeting with her & waited an hour & a half going over the video cam & additional evidence with her receptionist. She made rude comments a few times. I took a plea deal just to get it over with. I would NOT recommend.

Upon trying to hire Kathy , the first time I was turned away for having a warrant, the second time my significant other TRIED To hire kathy but was turned away AGAIN because I was not present but an appointment was set. The third time I went in person with an appointment set at 3:30 , Which I arrived 30 minutes early. Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm welcome , which led me to believe the I was in the right place. Kathy workers were understanding , hospitable, and had excellent costumer service. Once we sat down and began talking , Kathy came in . At first it gave me hope, I seen the way she was fighting to push my court date but once I made a statement. Claiming I was led to believe I could make a down payment. Kathy starts raising her voice and flat out acting like a child. I expected professionalism but received a disrespectful tone and nasty remarks. After being yelled at for a couple minutes , I lowered my tone and attempted to talk with common sense. Only to be meet with a disrespectful tone as she raised her voice. Once we finally settled down I wanted my side of the story to be heard, I only want to hire a lawyer and I will pay you in full tomorrow, I only wanted a lawyer not to experience disrespect. Once Kathy heard those words she flipped and snatched the contract out my hands and ripped it. I was constantly misinformed and led to believe I was going to jail Unless I paid Kathy , Anyways I got a new lawyer for half the cost with a better outcome.

I was a potential juror in voir dire and I had the pleasure of watching this woman work for her client. I will not go into details of the case but that room was ready to convict her client when the state made their hypothetical case. Once Kathy got up for her turn you could feel the room sifting in opinion. I was not selected to be on the jury but I have no doubt in my mind this woman is a fantastic attorney, she made the ADA and DA squirm in their seats. Oh and btw according to public records Kathy got her client a NOT GUILTY verdict.

Kathys office refused my rightful refund. I put Kathy on retainer(which was apparently charged to me by her employee against policy hard to believe) and began making payments prior to Kathy doing any work on my case besides the free consultation and being on the list of client to inquire about court dates(of which I had none). A little over a year later, I no longer needed representation and they refused to refund me any money-will try and get every dollar out of you they can. Beware.

My name is D Wheeler and Let me start by saying I called Kathy in a urgency not knowing what I could do since Tarrant County put a motion to revoke warrant out on me bc of court fees and I had gotten a new charge. She gave me an awesome affordable rate under 1000$ bucks. Once paid we were at the holiday season road block and courts were closed but Kathy ensured me she will do whatever she could to get the warrant taken care of. She even went out of her way to call me at 9:15pm to touch basis with me and let me know shed reached out to the judge personally and soon as she hear something we can move forward! Within 24 hours I got a call from Kathy herself and was informed that she got me time served and the case Id been dealing with since 2021 was over, shed gotten the warrant dropped and everything taken care of and I didnt even have to go to court or jail. I was told we would meet the following morning and get paperwork signed and Id be free to go! She told me not to worry bc being in jail for the holidays was NOT AN OPTION! Through this stressful time I was given her personal cell number and told if anything happens to give her a call! I would absolutely use her again and would definitely recommend her services to anyone in need of a Good Defense Lawyer!

Kathy was truly a blessing to me. When I hired her I was on a blue warrant I came to her seeking for help other attorneys wanted to charge me so much for what I was trying to do. I was on probation for 7 years and I was constantly being accused of doing things I was not doing. All I wanted to do was take my time and end this nightmare but was afraid that they would not lower the offers i had received prior. Kathy made me feel very safe and confident in my decision. The lowest amount they would offer me before her was 10 years TDC time. The day I had to go to court I sat in the hall way I never went into the court room she came back and she was able to get me 3 years she explained to me that I would do a turn around because I had enough back time. I went in October 2017 and was back home by February 2018, 4 months!!!! I was released on parole and I am happy to say that I will finish parole this Friday October 2019 and I truly thank her for all her hard work. Sometimes people just want to be let off from doing a crime , understand that when you break the law there are consequences. I was never looking for her to get me no time at all , I was just looking to receive the amount of time that was fair. She defiantly did that for me!!!!

Words can t never be enough to describe how grateful our family is for Kathy s efforts to defend my brother. He was charged with a serious offense. He came to Kathy after we had bad experience with the first attorney who showed up late to most of the pre-trial dates, didn t spend time to help us understand the law and our defense. Contrary to the first attorney, Kathy provided a free consultation to go through the case and provided us with her initial opinion. Her knowledge of the law and experience have put us as ease and decided to forgo the money we paid to the first attorney and have her as our attorney. Although we are still on trial and will get the verdict tomorrow, we have fully satisfied with what she has done for us so far. Not only has she done what a good attorney do, her ethics, expertise and passion have been above and beyond our expectations or anyone s I believe. Her fees are also reasonable. This lady did not explain to me that I had a court appointed lawyer. I wasn t aware of this at the time, but she was good at explaining everything else on my case file except for that important detail. This was my first time ever needing a lawyer, I m very inexperienced when it comes to these type of things, my father who doesn t speak english very well was much less aware...Took advantage of what we didn t know. Payed her 300+ dollars to start with, luckily i didnt pay this lady anymore. She hasn t even attempted to contact me after I payed her. The front desk girl was very rude and laughed when I explained my case. I have read some of the reviews here - Kathy has helped me twice and a friend of mine once. Some of the negative reviews I read lead me to think you are discussing a different attorney or something - this is the attorney I chose for myself. She has always been very forthcoming and shoots straight from the hip - she tells the truth. Do you know what her prior experience is? She knows what she speaks of - first thing she ask when you walk into her office? what did you say? Cant get anymore direct and helpful information from any attorney than that. She has absolutely taken care of me for a very reasonable amount when I needed help I honestly believe she wants what is right and it is not about anything else. I went to see Kathy in 2012 to have a misdemeanor fought down or dismissed. She did the absolute least amount to earn her fees. Kathy didnt get the police video and would never answer the phone or return calls/voice mails. I didnt get to see or talk her once between the initial visit/payment and when it became time to see the judge. I could only get a hold of her assistant, who never seemed to know anything. Once we went to court all she said was to plead guilty. At the time I was a college student and definitely inexperienced in dealing with the courts and lawyers. Busy with classes and finding work, my time was very limited and it shouldnt have been spent hounding her office to get any information or the police videos, which she said she was going to get. Im older now, have graduated, and finally realize the total lack of support I received from Kathy when we saw the judge. I also question why I didnt see the potential bias since she is an ex-police officer, and just move on to a different lawyer.

This woman got me first conviction on a case I could have beat & its still haunting me till this day. I regret having her as an attorney so much, She never even visited me to talk about my case while I was in jail or anything however I was unfamiliar with the law. She did not care about me or my case I dont even think she really read my motion of discovery properly she skipped through it. Do not waste your time with this woman shes all talk.

This woman is a common day scam artist! My boyfriend was offered 4 years with his court appointed attorney. The decison was made to hire Kathy and after almost paying 2k and this woman stating she promises shell do a good job guess what the result was? 4 years! Do not waste your time or money.

Shes a great lawyer, I had 3 felony charges that I knew I was guilty of and she got me a deal of a lifetime. I plead guilty to one charge and the other 2 got no billed, on top of that it would be 90 days 12-44 A or 2 years probation I wish I would took the 90 days because probation is hell but overall she is a great lawyer
