We were headed to another restaurant when wife pointed out Jamaica Gates. We stopped in and immediately loved the atmosphere. Anytime we travel we like to find Jamaican food. Glad we decided to come here instead of our first choice. I got the Kingston Trio ( Jerk Chicken, oxtails, and brown stew chicken) with cabbage and rice and peas. My wife got the Rasta Pasta and she was not disappointed. The servings were more than enough and we ended up with take out boxes. I would highly recommend this spot and when Im back in Arlington well be coming back. You can bet your bottom dollar on that!

Very homely place! I bought the steam fish and I literally felt like I was by the beach in Jamaica! The was so so so good! I actually went back the next day and got the Rasta pasta it made me wanna move to Texas ! Definitely will be back when I am in the area. 10/10 for sure!!!!

Came in on a Friday night it was the dj birthday so the music was a variety and loud giving party vibes the food was amazing two of us ladies devoured the fish soup full of flavor and we also enjoyed the steamed red snapper chef job well done!!!!! Other ladies enjoyed the Rasta pasta and oxtail, chicken wings, beef Pattie s, festival Fresh fruit juices was enjoyed by all. Coho was an excellent server great personality.

All I can say is for $25 a plate I should at least get more thank two piece of jerk chixken Jerk chicken/chicken stew / beef patties 10/10 Best Jamaican spot in the Arlington area Drink are self explanatory I got a 1800 drink on happy hour. It was literally a glass of 1800 straight. I couldn t complain. Food came out fast hot fresh and didn t miss with the flavor.. the music is at a perfect level to where it gives a vibe but you can stop have a comfortable conversation at the same time. Come check them out it would worth a try!

Wow! Most authentic Jamaican food in DFW! The prices are a little crazy, $10 for a patty and coco bread but I ordered curry goat, white rice and cabbage and it tastes exactly like home! Big ups to the chef! They also have live music and it s so nice.

Coco our server was fantastic. She was attentive, very warm and friendly. She made sure we were accommodate and taken care of.She made our first time dining experience was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious. The oxtails were tender and cooked to Jamaica perfection. Came in 9/14/24 for lunch with friends... Got there about 1240 the place was quite empty maybe 8 tables at most... placed our order around 1 drinks (water) finally showed up around 115 food did not make it to the table till 150... Food was ok and overpriced. Our waitress was very inattentive and our overall experience was quite disappointing. Came in years ago and it was much better.

This would have been my 2nd visit coming all the way from Houston however no one greeted us and no one came to the floor to serve us they played around and completely ignored us until we finally decided to leave, sadly I won t be returning I guess in order to receive the service I had before it has to be a crowd. They can have all of my money. I usually come here to party on the weekends back in the day. I would party all night LOL. But this time I wanted FOOD. I was having a bad day yesterday and I just wanted to some comfort food. Mannn.. I got on doordash and ordered oxtails, curry chicken, cabbage, rice and peas and plantains. I melted! I felt like I got hugged by someone s Jamaican great great grandma that told me everything will be alright! y all they even threw me in some baked Mac n cheese!! That plate blessed me so much. A must go!!!! The food was hands down the best I ve tasted . The seasoning , tenderness , well marinated, veggies , Rum Punch drink , One Love drink , and of course red stripe to top off the dinner . This place was clean , staff was extremely professional, polite , customer service was amazing from the servers to bar tender, cleaners , cookers , and our waiter. Everyone spoke as well as the customers . Very pleased with the location , perfect place to relax anytime. We look forward to going back Saturday for the live band. Definitely not a good night. Ordered my food at 8:22. I was told 15 to 20 mins. I didnt receive the food until maybe 9:30. My stewed chicken was Definitely not like normal. No gravy, just dry chicken. The cabbage was not done at all. Very hard. This was Definitely an OFF night and unacceptable for the cost of the food. I will try them again to make sure Im not tripping. It was pretty busy tonight but thats no excuse. Consistency is Key to a successful business!

I ve tried other Jamaicans spots and this place so far is the best!!!! I come from a Jamaican family but was born and raised in NY so I m use to the authentic culture and food and I ve really been missing it since I ve moved to TX. The Jamaican restaurants that I ve gone to thus far haven t been as good but this place right here did it for me! Today was my first time dining with Jamaica Gates restaurant and I have to say, the did not disappoint! I ordered the Kingston Trio, with double ox tail and curry chicken as a third protein. Man the food was really good. You could taste the love in every bite and the portion size was worthy of the price in my opinion. The staff was friendly and inviting. Never tried it before, but the cabbage was not done at all very hard with no flavor, the rice and beans was dry. The jerk chicken very spicy flavored, and the bread pudding was cold and not good at all did not taste like bread pudding at even when I warmed it up. Just taste like cinnamon. Bad experience for me. The hostess at best was utterly illogical or racist. I went there with my Gf yesterday (Indian couple), and almost all the seats were empty, except near the bar, where there was just 1 seat. Just 2 mins after we sat down, she came to our table and asked us to not sit, but stand at the bar and order and wait for our food there. Again, there were a lot of empty seats, but she made us stand!. Her logic? Because we were there to pick up our order, we couldnt sit in the chairs. When we tried discussing the issue, she wasnt hearing it. We ended up leaving the place after feeling discriminated.

Everything was a little salty, but I was more annoyed and concerned about the amount of small bits of goat bone that I could have broken a tooth on, cut my gums, choked, or punctured any part of my esophagus or intestines. Drove from Mckinney TX. Today to try the OXtail rice and peas plus a beef patty ×2. We received 2 old cold Beef Patties. We also was served Cold Rice and fatty OXtails with no meat on the bone. The little meat the OXtail did have was TOUGH AS LEATHER. The atmosphere is not Friendly and I truly felt like I was robbed today because my hard earn money was just giving aways. I had the worst worst super worst, yacky experience of my life over here. To come here in and not find good Jamaican food was frustrating, but this place it has given me hope again. Soooo good. Me and my friends had a great time last night. I m coming back here again.

This is the BEST Jamaican food I had across two other major cities: Chicago and Denver. Try their signature Ox Tail dish with the white rice and fries. You will not regret it. Thank you guys for such a great experience

Great experience! My husband and I usually go to a spot in Dallas but this one was a lot better! I am so glad we tried it he got the oxtails with rice and cabbage and I got the jerk chicken with cabbage! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. We will be back.

I cannot believe I waited so long to come back to this amazing establishment!! The customer service is great, the atmosphere is nice, and the food is even better. This is AUTHENTIC JAMAICAN FOOD! If you re looking to try authentic Jamaican food, this is the place to go!! I was born and raised in Jamaica I know how the food should taste. Hats off to the chef!! Every thing I had was absolutely delicious and reminded me of home. The atmosphere was super welcoming and clean. Our waitress was great, she had an amazing personality and answered all of my questions. I definitely recommend this restaurant for authentic Jamaican food. I recommend the Kingston trio if you don t know what to try.

I live in McKinney, I have been there a few times. Everyone is always so pleasant and the atmosphere is always great, but this time the food was different. The food was still good and had great flavor but a lot of the Oxtails was chewy, so I had to spit out a lot of it because I was chewing it like gum. Also the drinks wasnt as good either. I dont know what kind of alcohol they used but it wasnt good. From now on when I go anywhere to eat, Im going to ask what kind of alcohol they use for the drinks.

Me and my wife went here wanting to try Jamaican food. The ambiance definitely has an island vibe with Jaimaican reggae blasting through the speakers and bright colors on the walls. We saw Guy Fieri on the wall from diners drive ins and dives so we knew this place had to be good. The tropical drinks and home made lemonade were very good. We both ordered the Kingston Trio and tried every meat item available. We loved the ox tail with its spicy sauce. The jerk chicken was very good. It reminded me of Huli Huli chicken in hawaii but more spicy. The chicken / goat curry tasted good with a medium level of spice. As we checked out the dj booth was setting up to turn the restaurant into a club. Good vibes all around.

This place use to be so good about 4-5 years ago but the quality of service was horrible and the food portions are significantly smaller(not in a good way) My friend and I visited on 12/16 (her first time). I was a frequent visitor but things have changed since Ive been and I was so disappointed with how the service is now. I hyped this place up only to be embarrassed. The waiter was horrible, we didnt get drinks until after we got our food which took 40 minutes. Yes I ordered an appetizer and still no beverage to drink. No water to drink, oxtails were about half of a handful and not tender, rice was cold and dry. I dont know what happened but it was so bad, I made myself oxtails the next day since theirs was horrible. Do better!

My lady and I went on December 17, 2023 I ordered the Jerk Shrimp which was alright but a very small portion. My lady ordered the Rasta Pasta w/ shrimp and she liked it the food wasnt the problem really. The problem came about when we were ready for our ticket which was about $70.19 and the waitress came over and was given a $20 in cash and to charge the rest to the card. I did not notice until 2 days later when it posted to the account that the young lady kept the $20 and charged my card the entire $70.19 so basically she took it upon herself to tip herself with the money I was using to pay for our meal. She didn t even put her name on the receipt it stated such woman which says to me your trying to hide the fact your stealing from people. I called the restaurant and explained and was told I d get a call back and I never did. I can t tell you how to pay for your food but KEEP AND CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS.

Look, as a yaad man, born and raised, this is the best Jamaican food I ve had in the DFW area. Been there twice, had the curry goat twice, it was immaculate. Perfect everything. I felt at home. The service was exceptional, the food was piping hot, delicious meal. The price was very reasonable. Will be back and greatful to finally find a Real Jamaican restaurant. I didnt waste any protein, and the soup of the day was phenomenal. Also had the chocolate cake for dessert, and Wow!!! Best chocolate cake I have ever had. Dont believe me. Check out my photo to see how good the food was. Parking: Get in where you fit in, but big lot. Kid-friendliness: Had a kids menu I think, but the atmosphere was great. Just no booths. All chair table seating.

The food was delicious! atmosphere was calm and a bit too quiet, some music would ve been nice. I ordered the jerk chicken from the lunch menu, server Enye asked me for the two sides failing to inform me that in getting two sides makes it an entre. Other than that detail, Enye was nice and attentive. Even though I paid more than I meant to, it was definitely worth it.
