Dropped someone off here so they could get a bed, they left them outside all day and called the cops on them after 12AM, if youre in this line of work you need to be resilient, to take the negativity thrown your way and bounce back with positivity and at the very least address those who come for help with a simple Im sorry we tried everything we can but there arent any beds availible, you might try ____ over at ____ who may be able to take you, would you like us to give them a call to check?

This is the first time I had to live in a shelter and Im grateful that God sent me to one where there was respect and professionalism. The staff has been nothing but kind to me. You get three meals, a bed, a shower, laundry amenities, classes, medical assistance, and also transportation to get around in the city. This is a part of my test turning into a testimony for the Glory of God! Peace and Blessings! Thank you!

Well I read all reviews and still called to see if they could assist me the lady who answered phone was kinda speedy and because she was speaking when I hadnt finished my sentence ..let me know patience wasnt best in her traits of characters. Bacially letting her know Im disabled and on social security and I ok an to work from home once I obtain a home! Ive worked in Californias homeless shelter Brother Benos and was payed staff and they seem to be a shelter non caring she offered no other places to refer me to nor gave me a feeling to wanna call back and check availability. To say the least and be done with my review... Humble yourselves cause you never know when u are miles away from your comfort zone and u must seek help to better ur self! And with all my training in the field of communications/ public relations I have ,lucky for me Im a better woman than the one I spoke to on the phone who has no real compassion for her job . When Im in a better place I will be working at this shelter to improve their establi as hment . Ill promise u that. Never judge someone because pointing only returns pointing at yourself.

For a place that cares about nothing but doners and how much money they can get they don t care about thier residents I went in on November 1 2023 I didn t have a job or a vehicle but I was looking for a job and reported my status to my case manager Sholonda and I finally got a job in December which I started on December the 28th and one of the requirements is to have a job to stay at the shelter I think I forfulled that requirement but I was kicked out of the shelter on December 29th and with one month before I officially my time was up so as of December 29 2023 I am currently living on the streets in the freezing cold weather and rainy days I even asked if I could stay at least until my time was up but I was denied. They tell you that you have 3 months but I was kicked out after 2 months they didn t even consider that I was in the hospital for a week and in quarantine for a week and I couldn t find a job during that period even though I was out every day looking for work so my advice to you don t go to Arlington Life Shelter because they will screw you over they will use you to keep the place clean with daily chores and I didn t mind doing my part the food is okay when they don t use leftovers from a few days before some of the staff is great but there is one staff member that is very rude and seems like he doesn t care about being there or for the residents I don t know his name but he the slender black guy so watch out for him Jared is another person that doesn t care about the residents. So stay away from this place unless you have lots of moneh. When I was kicked out because of compliance there was 5 empty beds in the dorm I was staying in so it s not like they were completely full.

For a place with a lot of donors and investors they lack simple in house transportation. Even under emergency conditions your stuck if you dont have any money. But they are always on top of rules, check ins and pink slips, yet there isnt a rule to make clients take baths, even for the sake of everyones health. Amazing priority list.

The shelter has a lot of requirements to be accepted and they do a 90 day program. If you looking for a shelter for a couple of days, they are no help. You have to stay with them long term and clean their facility in exchange for a room. They aren t here to help you so don t waste your time.

They are putting me and my 3 month old son out over accusations that aren t true , every other shelter is at full capacity and we have nowhere to go. I wouldn t recommend coming here , some of the RAs are on a power trip and the case managers believe everything they say , they don t thoroughly investigate they just take word of mouth and run with it. They don t care about nobody else or your babies for that matter. Catherine bullies the residents & nobody bats an eye. Stay away from her. My case manager did what she could as far as my housing goes , but she couldn t let me stay because Jarod already finalized my exit. I have been mistreated & I don t know what else to say about it.

This is an amazing resource if youre looking for some help. The facility has been recently renovated and everything is new. They will provide you food that is actually really good and give you second and third portions if there are still some left over. There is wi-fi provided that is reliable and speedy. Bathrooms have private showers. The beds are comfortable enough and a pillow is provided. Only a few minor nitpicks--some of the staff are rude and the sandwiches given out as meals for people going to work are barebones, provide little nutrition and arent filling. Overall, stay there. You wont regret it and youll be glad a place like this exists when the alternatives dont even offer half of what this shelter does. Lastly, heres a shoutout to all the people who donate and volunteer. You guys are the real unsung heroes. Thank you.

Im up bright and early ion the morning. The ranking stars for this place are going down daily. I will write a review for this shelter everyday that I resign in this building. I got up to eat breakfast. The women down stairs are rude, some of them that come off the streets are aggressive and seem to be heavy drug users. Not Cool since the facility is for women and children as well. I went to the front desk, you have to ask to go out side, You have to ask to go to your vehicle. We are grow and shouldnt have to ask permission to move freely. It feels like you are in jail here. You cant go back and forth to your car because I was told it is unsafe to go to your car in the morning when the sun is out shinning. There was a used coat give away for winter yesterday(12-15-22)and the coats were few. I ended up with a huge mans jacket because there werent any plush plus size jackets for the women. P.S. they isolate you off from people if you have any tiny complaint. be aware, you will be placed in rooms with rude aggressive bunnies even when you have a baby

I read one review before I decided to give you beautiful people the truth. I have only been here a few hours so I cant tell you everything about the facility. The food here is plenty, it is donated by churches around the area. I made it here and was greeted by a staff member. He was nice and got right on my intake. I left and came back then I saw that there is no hot water for the babies to take showers. It gets cold(2nd Floor). Ask anyone on the second floor. The shelter is shared by multiple family groups, Men, women, last are women with children. I listen to a varies of complaints from shelter guest. #1 there is only one working washer, and that means that we cant wash our clothes because men wash every other day and women wash every other day. We still havent washed our clothes. Food is plenty but it would be nice to have milk put out in an ice bowl through out the day. PLEASE dont tell the staff you have a problem with anything because they will NOTTT get up to help you with the issue unless you press the situation. Once you press them they will hate the person who came and told them about the problem. Staff take sides. So keep extra low and stay humble. Dont come here if you have little babies that need a hot bath/shower on the second floor because winter is here and the showers are really cold. I want to cry so much. My heart hurts to be here but we have no where else to go. one hundred people here and every one has two loads of clothed with one working washer...........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a repair guy. LMAO.

This is currently the best shelter in the DFW area. They are clean, super friendly, and responsible with admissions so there isnt all kinds of riffraff about. Since the additions to the building late last year the quality has gone way up. They assist with necessary needs for people getting back on their feet, and have special circumstances in effect for COVID-19 which help residents feel safe and secure regarding health. Although its been a while since Ive been inside, from what I know of their reputation, they are continuing to try their best meet the needs of our growing population of homeless people. They can always use volunteers. Many of those who are staying there are looking for work & will do yard work, paint, clean, etc. Ive hired several men from there to help me move & to do work that I can no longer do. All those who have worked for me have been very nice & very hard working. Its a great way to help the homeless & the shelter.

She put me on hold TWICE while in the middle of a sentence... she would return with a sharp How can I help you? I said Im trying to help YOU. Can you tell me.... Please hold.... click. She returns and I ask Is this the same person I was talking....(Interupts) HOW CAN I HELP YOU? I want to donate needed..... Please hold.... click. Then she hangs up on me. I really hope her supervisor sees this and contacts me so I can actually help those in need without being treated like a telemarketer.

Besides anything that would make u unhappy about this place. You have a bed, can shower nightly and they feed you three times a day and 4 times on Saturdays and sundays, if you can stay during the weekend.

The food and sleep is good. Staff is rude and seems to take their lack of sleep out on residents. They are biased towards families and seem homophobic. They kick you out in cold weather regardless if you are sick.

Excellent place to be when you are down and out in time of need! Mr. Melvin and staff are wonderful. Caring staff and counselors! Was very comfortable there. Its not for everyone either. They will do a background check before you walk in the door! Very strict. This is not some place you go to hang out. There are nightly chores and they will not tolerate any BS! They will remove you if you get out of line in any way. Very friendly though. I stayed there for two weeks last year end of May beginning of June.

When i was young my dad lost his job and we were homeless for the longest time .... that was the turning piont of both of our lifes ... 4 me it was a symbol that i dont wanna make bad decisions in life like my dad ..... They were so great for us and supportive... ill never forget a friwnd name earnest jr..... man he was great. . He was a great example to me .... and 1 day i hope he does become a police man .... its been about 5 to 6 years since we left and its just been a blessing for me and my dad ... im just turned 16 and havent smoked, drinked, or ect ... i play sports and i keep good friends close .. my dad still works at the same job and now a driver... he works every his hardest everyday just to make me happy .... He has really changed .... i used to hate him but now i hate him a little less ... but the shelter is a bad place to be in but sometimes it makes u thrive harder to get stuff done and stay on track .... sometime u just gotta hold your hand out so Jesus can help you. .... but i wanna give thanks to the Arlington life shelter i woyldnt be half the man i was today without them

My daughter madelinre and I lived here for 6 months. We loved it.Mr.Ken and Mr.Melvin were great help. The food was catered every night by a different church, and was amazing. They have very clean rooms and restrooms washer and dryers you can shop off the donation table every night smoke breaks and in all was the best shelter around as well as the salvation army family shelter.Fort worth shelters are the worse and full of drugs.Arlington offers the best plus they also have the Arlington mission.

Arlington life shelter is a great place to go if you need help getting back on your feet. they were extremely helpful to my family in giving us the direction and tools needed for us to get back to where we needed to be, everyone is very friendly including Melvin, so Im not sure why another review says different he is very kind and cares about helping the homeless, he is there almost every day helping.

Its really a bad place to go if your homeless. And Melvin is like this fox in charge of the henhouse, He is his on boss when you ask him for his supervisor, he well tell you that he is the superviser in charge and doesnt have a boss. Melvin is not there to help you if your homeless.

This is a joke!!! If you are homeless dont go their. You will regret it bigtime. Then they say that they are their to help you, and that is a joke. All they are worried abount IS THEM!!!!! In short if you are homeless DO NOT STOP OR COME TO ARLINGTON TEXAS. The people that are here will make it known to you. Mainly the cops.

The Arlington Life Shelter is a well oiled machine. I am a former resident and I can speak from experience. From my intake to my exit I benefited greatly from the programs they have in place. Every night a different volunteer group came into the shelter and provided dinner for the residents and more often than not second helpings were available. The program offers a hand up rather than a hand out. I was a resident over a year ago and I can still feel the positive impact the ALS has had in my life. To those who commented above I would only say one thing. You get out of a program what you put into it. This shelter survives largely on the help of volunteers and donors. This shelter works. But, it will only work for you if you let it.
