Babes in Arlington is conveniently located next door to our favorite music venue. The service was friendly and prompt. The smoked chicken and the biscuits were good, not dry. The sides are just okay, and the noise level makes it difficult to carry on conversations. Well probably be back, but the location is the primary attraction.

Green beans were soggy with no firmness and had a burnt taste. They were either reheated or microwaved as they were extremely hot. Got 3 bowls and they were all the same They require you to order a vegetable plate if its more than one person dining, and then only 2 of 3 available sides are edible. We visit Babe s in Arlington frequently. Our recent experience leaves a lot to desire for! Right in the door, no line, if 5 tables were occupied that s a lot! It took the hostess, or lead waitress and two other waiters 5 min to figure out where to seat us in this very busy restaurant. They really made it much more complicated than it should be. Finally a waiter took us, a party of two to a dirty table that could seat 8 people. This while there is clean tables available more appropriate for a party of two. It felt like the restaurant was run by high schoolers who just had no idea! We left immediately and went somewhere else. This is a huge disappointment as we really enjoy Babe s!

Babes is a local restaurant chain that serves family style (shared) meals. This location has fun decor to make it look like youre eating in the middle of a small town. Meals consist of your choice of fried or smoked chicken or fried fish along with mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed corn, green beans, biscuits and salad. The green beans and the salad arent great. The salad is iceberg lettuce drenched in sweet dressing and the green beans have a strong canned flavor. However, the meat and other sides make up for it with hearty portions and free refills on the sides. Definitely a unique spot for tourists but also great for families and small groups. You should expect to pay about $30 per person for a meal ($19) and drink ($3) after tip & tax ($6.20). We typically wait 10 to 20 minutes for a table. Vegetarian options: There are no vegetarian or vegan options. Dietary restrictions: Not recommended for those with dietary restrictions. The only choices are fried or smoked meat, your drink and if you want dessert. Everything else is a fixed menu and premade. Parking: Limited parking. Most lots have No parking for Babes customers signs that say that they will tow. Must use street parking or undersized lot behind Babes which is shared by two other businesses. Kid-friendliness: The small town theme of the restaurant makes it more kid friendly.

Our family went to the Arlington, TX location last night for my moms birthday. The atmosphere & service was excellent. My mom has been looking forward to getting her birthday chicken fried steak for months, literally. Unfortunately, when the meat portion came to our table everyone who ordered the chicken fried steak could not eat it, they stated that it tasted like old grease. The smoked chicken and the chicken strips were excellent as were all of the sides, salad & bread. It was just a disappointment that my mom was unsatisfied with her birthday meal and we went home a little less happy with the establishment. She made a point of wishing we had gone to her 2nd choice of restaurant that is known for their chicken fried steak. I dont know the answer to this situation; hopefully this was just a one-off...but maybe this is a way to let you all know when things like this happen. Other then this one thing, everything else was wonderful. Thank you!!!

The Wife and I were in Dallas recently for a concert and I wanted a place to eat that was close to the venue. You cant get much closer than Babes. The show was at the Arlington Music Hall, and Babes is, well, right next door. Tossed the keys to the theater valet and didnt look back. Great courtyard seating when weather permits (it didnt this trip), and the interior is just kitchsy as hell, in a delightful way. Menu is, well, short. Our server explained we didnt really need to look at one because we had 2 choices.... chicken and catfish. Chicken was cooked in a few basic ways, fried, grilled, etc. and the catfish is of course, fried. The sides are what they are. So meal selection is as easy as it gets.... and yet, I couldnt decide, so I got fried chicken with a single order of catfish on the side. Start with an elegantly simple salad with a wonderful vinaigrette and iceberg lettuce. Its astounding sometimes how simple can be so much. Next came some remarkable biscuits and honey. Outstanding. Then the main stuff started hitting.... the chicken (4 pieces per order, basically half a chicken), great mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and fried sweet corn. For a southern boy, it was a little heaven on a table. The chicken is some of the best Ive had. Cooked to perfection, with a well seasoned, crispy crust that hung on the meat for each bite, guaranteeing you meat and crust every time. The mashed potatoes were properly done, and the gravy the perfect consistency with a decent flavor... not at all bland and pasty like some places Ive eaten. The green beans and corn would do any southern granny proud. Service was awesome, and in spite of sitting at a family style trestle table, we had plenty of privacy and enjoyed our meal immensely. Overall, its not the cheapest chicken youre going to eat, but for the price we paid, I was more than happy with the taste/experience/value. If I lived nearby, Babes would see me regularly.

The decor is cute looks like a western town. The staff dances but they look like they are forced/unhappy. Upon arrival they just sit you down. You dont see a menu. The waitress will explain everything but i felt the way she explained it was very very confusing. They should give a menu so people can understand everything and see the prices. Each protein cost differently. So the whole concept is you pay about $20 per person. Each person chooses a plate of fried chicken, fried chicken strips or fried catfish. Sides (biscuits, corn, salad, and mashed potatoes) are the only thing unlimited. If you have leftovers you can only take home the protein you picked or biscuits. Nothing else. The fried catfish was good. Fried well. But wish the portion was bigger. I wasnt too crazy about the fried chicken strips. They didnt fry it crispy; it was soft/soggy. I think the waitress could have been more attentive. The biscuits were ok. Didnt taste like the usual biscuits Ive had but they didnt fall apart which was good. Mashed potatoes was probably the best side. My stomach did get bad that day; not sure if it was their food or the dinner I had later that day.

Weve been Babes fans ever since before my kids were born. Whenever we order our waiters or waitresses would tell us to order a regular tender plate over a ton of kids meals and weve ordered it like that ever since. We came here just last week and did the same thing. Today my son chose Babes for his 6th birthday and they wanted to charge multiple vegetable plates. When I went to inquire, they said its always been the policy (even though we were just here last week). So we had to order all adult plates for everyone including the kids and an additional kids plate for the birthday boy or else we get charged $10.99 for sharing. We have dinner reservations at 6 and just wanted a light lunch. Now we have a ton of food that we all cant finish because half of the party are kids.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! I always end up bringing leftovers home. I have tried something different every time I visit Babes and managed to have had everything except for the chicken strips. As of yet, I have not been disappointed! My fiance was here visiting before making his big move here permanently and this is one of the restaurants I wanted him to try. He loved it! He chose the smoked chicken and I had the fried catfish! I tried my best to finish it all but I just couldnt. We ended up bringing leftovers home...chicken, fish and biscuits only. This was a tough one. The atmosphere, the staff and everything except the food was fantastic. I wanna stress that more than anything. I ordered the fried chicken (wing, drum, breast, and thigh) while my gf got the fried catfish. Im not sure what happened but by the time I went from the cashier to pay for our meal I was feeling extremely sick. By the time I walked to my car, I had just made it before projectile vomiting. I had to have someone drive me home due to how sick I was. Its almost now 12 hours later and I am still getting profoundly sick. I highly suggest to anyone who has a semi sensitive stomach to avoid anything here. I can eat fried food, but if the oil isnt changed/replaced soon enough, it will absolutely make me a little sick, but not to this degree. In the past 10 years I have never gotten sick like I have here. I am sorry to write this but its my experience so I have to forewarn others of the potential wasting of money. Once again, I enjoyed the experience, but Ill pass on the food. $18.99 for 4 pieces of chicken and endless sides I suppose is the gimmick thats brings you back but realistically you can go to Krogers and buy a 8 piece of chicken for literally less than half the price. We are regulars at Babes but our recent visit we were disappointed with the chicken strips. Theyve changed them and theyre now waaay smaller than what they used to be. We asked our waitress and she said they changed them and are smaller but they give you two extra pieces, which in all honesty you cant tell because of how small they are. The chicken was also not crispy at all which is reason why we used to go there. It was $40 for two strips meals but the portions are small. We probably wont be back anytime soon.

There are some places that are a first and last and this was one - food was mediocre - nothing to write home about - service no complaints - atmosphere - too dark - but to each his own. Kicker was you had to put your food - (chicken and biscuits) - in a trash bag to go - assume they are overly concerned about people taking salad and sides - they werent that good - but they probably have loyal customers - but I wouldnt recommend Parking: Behind place of business - long distance for handicap and elderly

I love good fried chicken and this review does not go against the food. Rather to the girl who was smacking her gum working at the register on 3/17/24 around 7:42PM not only she does not have customer service but no manners. Not once greeted us asked us how our service was nor have a good night . I wanted a bottle of honey and I grabbed it from the counter shelf and when I approached the register I swapped them out and it handed it to her. She was quick to the one I gave her put it back where it was and grabbed one from the shelf. Without letting me know why she did that and again did not ACKNOWLEDGE ME. The food here is great it feels extremely cramped when youre inside I understand thats the environment and I can get over that but what I cant get over is how the entire party of eight that we had everyone was complaining about how damn it is in there its just too dim the whole outside at dusk in the country feel is bad its just too dark in that place but other than that great food and overall fun environment if you dont mind eating in the dark its a good place

Service can sometimes take a little long just because the place tends to get busy but severs have never been rude and are constantly checking on refills for sides Vegetarian options: Only the sides are vegetarian Parking: Parking is available behind the building or in city park next to it but both are.free Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly atmosphere. We do takeout and have never had a wrong order, nor been disappointed. Edit: they got our order wrong for once, and gave us the roast chicken instead of the fried chicken. After my horrified disappointment, trying the roast chicken was a good idea. Its great as well! Food

I ate at Babes Chicken Dinner for the first time Sunday. I had fried catfish and the vegetables that they have. Little did I know, Babes does not have a menu. Our waitress explained things to us because of the questions I asked. Long story short. I will be going back to eat their. The food was very good and hot. The service was great. And thanks JASON (Manager) for stopping and talking to us. Note: No doggie bag, but you can get a plastic bag and take any of the meat you do not eat. Great place.

When we went, the guy who carried us to our table took us to a table in the extreme back, passing several tables. We asked for something else, and he immediately took us to another table that was in the back. I am hoping race didnt play a part in sitting people. Please be aware people of different races dont want to be seated in a corner or at the back. Passing up tables is very hurtful and disrespectful.

I remember babes chicken used to be better food. Nowdays chicken tenders and fried chicken are the top items. Do not bother with the chicken fried steak or the catfish. The only side dish that is good is the mashed potatoes. The bread is still tasty.

Ordered for two ask for to go box they gave me a bag like a dog bag would not let me take the sides home..I pd 22 per person and only had one serving served but they would rather throw it away instead of letting me take what I pd for.Will.never go back again
