It is a small display, about a half-dozen aircraft. Interesting collection of model airplanes, too. It seemed like they had a hundred of those.

Went there on a quick trip once we were passing through Amarillo, very happy I did! I met some lovely absolutely engaged volunteers that seemed excited to talk about everything they had. We were allowed to roam the inside on our own, then we were accompanied out onto the tarmac by Ron, the President of the place! Definitively a funny and informative man! Loved this entire visit!

Why has this museum not gotten more reviews? Traveling through the area and stopped for two nights and this was a one of the sites we wanted to visit on our down day. Its small, donation based, but a wealth of information and the volunteer who took us on the tour of the aircraft outside was great. There is a small gift shop. The sign out front is small so you might miss the stop if you are not watching. They need more attention so they can get funding to move to a larger facility. I never knew the shuttle pilots need to do almost 500 live approaches before getting on the shuttle. This is accomplished by use of a twin engine lear style jet. Left side of cockpit is setup like a shuttle where the right side is standard. According to the tour guide, they get to altitude, slap on the speed brakes, reverse thrusters, etc. and the plan has all the characteristics of the shuttle. Well worth the visit and kudos to the volunteers who are keeping this alive.

Was pleasantly surprised at the scale of this museum. It is spread out but has loads of information. I would personally like to thank Mr Ron Fernuik and Mr Gerald Foster for their time, knowledge and information given to us during our visit. As a museum that does not have an entrance fee, this is a must to take the kids and let them learn about Air and Space, free of charge, donations are accepted and gratefully received. I hope to return to Amarillo in a couple of years time and will definitely pop in again. Highly recommend.

Ron was very informative and so knowledgeable answering all of my childrens questions. He had the perfect dry sense of humor that had us smiling. I would highly recommend this museum especially for the preteen age kids they can learn so much and still pretend to fly plane in the cockpit. I also highly recommend leaving them a donation so they can add more and do more of what the volunteers love, teaching others about aviation & history.

Fantastic place to visit if youre into planes and flight. The tour and visit only costs a donation, and it is well worth it. Its both an indoor (in a hangar) tour as well as an outdoor. The best part is that you can go into some planes and helicopters! Thats a bonus for kids! We spent about 2 hours here, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Wonderful experience visiting. Obviously a labor of love running on the efforts of wonderful volunteers until they are able to obtain needed funding to move into a larger facility. Recommend -, for hands on experience of history of flight, an intimate view of Texans who contributed to flying and our Space exploration.....and remembering those who sacrificed their lives. Make sure not to miss the model room.

Viper and the owner of the museum gave my 7 year old son and I a personalized tour. Make sure and ask about th Candy Bomber . We loved sitting in the cockpit and my son will always remember learning how to use the yoke to control the rutters. This is a unique touch museum where children can touch most exhibits and artifacts. It was raining, so we ll return to enjoy the outdoor airplanes. Thank you for taking the time to make our experience personable.

It was also great that you could get into all the planes. Both the hall and the outdoor areas were absolutely worth seeing and interesting. If you are in the area you should definitely stop by. Open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In any case, plan at least 1 1/2 hours as the tour takes at least that long. There is no entry fee, but a donation is welcome and absolutely deserved.

The tour guides make this so fun for everyone. They spend time with you and were a wealth of information. Although it is not huge you get to go inside several of the planes and a helicopter. They plan on expanding so we hope to come back again.

I gave this 3/5 stars simply because its a very small museum located in a Bell Helicopter business park/extra public hangar. The things here are worth seeing if you are nearby and want to check it out. It isnt a destination museum though. My family and I enjoyed our visit and we even saw an Osprey land which was awesome. For the museum though, there are 6 different aircraft available to see but really only 1 that you can enter during this pandemic and thats with a museum guide. Two of the aircraft have been stripped so theyre more like remnants of what they once were. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable although the lady at the front desk seemed frustrated that we came in when we did. She seemed to warm up as we were leaving but nothing says dont come back like feeling like youve interrupted someones crossword puzzle. The museum is mainly a small fenced off portion within a working public hangar along with one room that has numerous aircraft models. There isnt a coordinated theme other than flight but with the limited items, it feels more like another museums leftovers. Perhaps this will continue to evolve into a better museum but as it stands now, this feels like a side project to showcase some old stuff pulled out of boxes. That said, this museum isnt claiming to be the Smithsonian either so theres that.

This place was amazing! I highly recommend stopping here. The people who work there are volunteers trying to keep the place alive and are so incredibly kind and helpful. They even let you go inside some of the planes! The amount of history to see and read about is overwhelming and often emotional. If you go and have a guide named Ron then youre lucky! He is a very sweet man who will answer all of your questions, show you around and even help you take some awesome pictures! They dont charge anything to go through but I highly recommend leaving a tip out of respect. They all volunteer there so that we all can have the opportunity to see these amazing planes up close and learn about the histories. I will definitely be going back :)

Great small aviation museum, not all of their collection can be viewed and the outside exhibits require an escort, but the docent (escort) was great and provided a lot of information about the planes.
