It was a 30 min ride around 80 acres. A little pricey but truly enjoyed it, my husband enjoyed it way more then my little nephew. Definitely will be coming back. We had to leave because it was raining so I didn t get to experience everything else but will be going back soon. We bought two buckets to feed the animals it was just enough for the whole ride. Staff was friendly.

We had a blast here today! The kids loved riding the train and feeding all the different animals! They also have a petting zoo area. They have a snack bar, a snow cone truck, and a sitting area with lawn games. 10/10 recommend for kids! I had a great time as well. Our tour guide on the train ride was awesome and made it fun, played music, and told us all kinds of facts about the animals, things I never knew! We will definitely return!

Bayou Wildlife I do not recommend booking a field trip/group trip as the owner will not accommodate if you are even slightly late. We arrived 15 minutes late with a group of kinder & 1st grade students (typical with small kids). The owner met us in the parking lot and promptly informed us that because of our tardiness, our tram ride would be cut from a full tour to a half tour. When I asked if there was anyway we could wait and do a full tour, she refused and stated that she had more groups arriving. Upon our return, the trams sat empty. When I decided to voice my frustration and offer feedback, the owner was very unprofessional and rude. She stated maybe if you owned it, you would do it differently and went back and forth with me instead of 1. Simply listening or 2. Trying to come up with a resolution. She kept on saying that she was giving me feedback as well, but as an owner, that is just completely unprofessional. I have read so many comments about her since this incident and now I am not at all surprised at the encounter I had with her and I am just grateful it did not escalate further. The petting zoo is hardly a petting zoo with only 3 types of animals. The animals on the tram ride look sick and malnourished. All of our kids came back with full buckets of food. It is sad to see both the lack of basic customer service and respect, as well as the lack of care for the animals. I used to visit this zoo often and it s really gone downhill. Check out the Houston Interactive Aquarium (an employee of Bayou Wildlife even recommended it while we were visiting) and The Crocodile Encounter. We have taken field trips to both and I can assure you that your money will go further, you will feel taken care of and respected, and your students will have so much fun. I m all about supporting local businesses, but not when they do not deserve it and I can assure you that this owner does not and she will not return the support with any type of goodness/kindness to the community/people/kids of Alvin.

Ive passed by many times. Finally decided to visit. Very well worth your time. This is less of a zoo and more of a wildlife preserve. Most of the animals are free roaming on many acres and during the tram ride you can feed some. The entrance fee may seem a bit high but considering the work that these people do to help the animals, including some exotic rescues, you should consider it a donation for this very costly and dedicated work. A beautiful place and friendly staff.

We had the worst experience at this place. We were group of 10 people, were asked to sit in the back. But the driver was so rushed the whole time, we hardly had total 10 seconds of time feeding animals. We paid $250 for seeing animals - only deer, bison, and ostrich for 30 mins. All of our buckets were still full when we got back. Complete waste of money. We won t be coming back again.

It takes a lot for me to give a 1-star review. We had a horrible customer experience here at the Bayou Wildlife Zoo today. They would not honor an $80 gift card purchased by my kid s grandparents for their birthday. They admitted having a hard time verifying gift cards recently and still would not honor it. They acted like it was our fault for not having the receipt (I m not going to call and bother 80 year old senior citizens for a receipt from a purchase months ago). If a business is having issues verifying gift cards, then they should stop selling them and honor the ones already given out. I m willing to modify my review if the owner/manager reaches out to refund our $80.

The price was a bit high for what is available. It comes with a 30 minute ride to see deer, zebra, water buffalo, bison, cattle, ostriches and emus, and two camels. There is an area to walk around that has lemurs, pigs, and a few other farm animals. They do have two giraffes, a few kangaroo, and a couple foxes. We went during spring break and did have to wait 3 hours for the ride. Tickets cannot be purchased online.

The line was not long and not a wait at all for the tram ride. However the buckets of food, one used to come free with your ticket and were $2 extra per bucket and they were bigger buckets of food. They now cost $5 for much smaller buckets and we used to go through at least 2 buckets each, so I bought extra thinking we would use them. But this time they hardly stopped at all and not nearly long enough so the animals didnt get to eat. Still love the place, and dont really mind paying for the food, but would have been nice if they would stop long enough for the animals to get to eat instead of throwing out at the end. I ended up giving the tram driver a whole bucket of food for him to use his next trip out.

The zoo was a good experience for my toddler because she got to feed the big birds and cows, other than that it s really not worth the price. $15 for child, $30 for adult, plus $5 for each feed. This is our second time going. Each time it gets boring, only close interaction is big birds and cows, a buffalo once. They have giraffe, zebras but no interaction. There is a few other small animals to look at but nothing amazing.

I asked them if I could at least walk around with my kids to see the animals for few minutes and they said no, that I had to leave right away. My kids were crying for they were so excited to see the animals and when we got there this happened. If I could give them no star thats what I would have given them. At least they could have said we will give you free tickets or something for us driving that long to get there, instead they just shoved us away. Worst experience ever!

Went this Saturday & they open at 10am, no wait time. Tickets are bought on the site & we paid with a credit card. The guides are friendly & before you set off on the safari ride, they will brief you on how to interact with the animals & how to hold the feed bucket so you dont lose your fingers to the animals. They tell you to expect a bumpy tour ride due to the terrain & you might get some mud on you depending on the animals that run up beside you on the ride. Wear boots or your old trainers because some paths have animal droppings & can be muddy, especially if it rained. This is a very kid & family-friendly safari activity & well be sure to go back.

Great place to have a fun family day. We went on a Saturday with no wait time to purchase tickets. You have to purchase tickets at the location as they dont offer advance ticket purchases on their website. Adult ticket cost $23.53 and children cost $14.12. You have the option to take a safari ride which is included with your Adult ticket purchase and the option to purchase feed buckets to feed the animals which cost $5 each. Since we went in the month of October they also have a mini haunted house to visit which was $4.69 each person. The assortment of animals is amazing and all run free. They have a petting zoo which you can pet goats, baby cows and piglets. They have a mini store to purchase snacks, drinks and souvenirs. They welcome bringing your own drinks in if you like. They No longer offer pony rides. The safari ride lasts 30 minutes and is alot of fun for everyone. The small haunted house was great and kid friendly, not super scary at all. The have covered tables to sit and wait for your safari ride and I suggest signing up for the safari ride as soon as you get there since they are only 3 trailers to take groups and the wait can be long depending on how busy they are. I waited 1 hour for my safari ride.

Horrible, horrible business. When showed up as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 babies (the oldest being 3 years old and the youngest 5 weeks.) we asked prior to even entering the establishment, will we be allowed to take our child in his car seat? Because otherwise he would not be able to go and therefore one of the adults would not be able to go. The woman assured us that the possibility was there and that we d just need to clear it when we made it to the tram. We walked all the way back to the tram after paying the $65 and were told that we absolutely could not bring him. This meant one of the adults who had just paid a fortune would have to stay behind with him. After splitting up and having my husband have to stay behind we inquired as to whether or not the money for his ticket would be returned? The woman almost happily assured us that there are absolutely no refunds, after she was the very one to charge us in the first place knowing we wouldn t be able to all ride. It isn t even about the money at all, just such a poor way to run a professional business.

Rude OWNER , no credit card machine working at barn, never got our change for pig attraction that we paid for. And you can not drive your own car through the safari. You have to ride these run down HOT trams through the park. They didn t give any clear instructions on park rules. Place seems to have gone downhill since new owners. Sucks! Such a shame. Will NOT recommend sadly. *Edit* To call customers Liars is not a good look for any business. After seeing it s a tram only (came about 7 years ago and I thought we drove our cars, if I m wrong I apologize) we said no way let s leave but being pregnant and driving SO far I had to use the restroom, bad! NEVER said I d be back to pay. Get ur facts straight. I said my family is coming up behind me they will pay for whatever we end up doing. Then hauled to the hot non air-conditioned bathrooms. Hubby got up there and thought no way we are doing this in this heat and came in to get me. Kids fell in love with the piggies, we paid cash (credit machine was down) . Then you rudely insulted your customers and made my children leave in the middle of the pig cuddle we paid for! Customer service, understanding and politeness will get you far and is a good business Moto. We Never left the barn surrounded by staff. No one had ill intentions of stealing entry. Hence why we walked all the way back to the hot car to get cash to pay for the attraction. Which you all gladly took our money for. Can you see how perhaps this was a mishap and taking a deep breath might have been warranted here? And not jump to conclusions and be so rude when I was politely explaining our confusion. Yes I did sincerely apologize for our misunderstanding but I stand by my review. And your lack of professionalism warranted a 1 star review. The place is not how I remembered it. And do not recommend at all. Regardless. Your embarrassing attitude here just sealed the deal for us. So thanks. Side note: Someone should keep you off google reviews, your responses are wild on here! You should go back and see what you write OMG. God bless lady

Good place to take a kid too on the weekend. The zoo has lots of animals and most of them were friendly enough to pet. Expect to spend about 3 hours or so to see everything. The ride around the zoo is about 40 minutes. Our guide was Pooh as in Winnie the he was very informative, friendly and courteous. He interacted well with everyone and the animals as well. While waiting to go on the tram, You can see the giraffes, the kangaroo, a few ferrets and a kinkajou. They have a small store with t-shirts, concessions and plenty of tables to sit at. Its nice place to spend part of your weekend.

My review would be 4.5 stars if I could. Its a neat place that you get right up with the animals while riding a trailer pulled behind a jeep. It allows you to get right next to these animals that are used to people and feed them. What wasnt nice was how hot the staging area was, where you wait for the next ride to come back around; so be mindful that you will most likely stand around for 20-30 minutes waiting for the next ride and its not cooled under the barn. The other negative bit is my wife and I brought our infant son and had him in his Doona (car seat that turns into a stroller) and no one mentioned that we would have to leave the stroller at the barn until we went to get in the trailer for the ride around. Also, no one told us it would be a little rougher until after we got on the trailer so my wife was holding our son while we went down and up dips, over cattle guards and through some bumpy areas. Besides those couple things, we will definitely be back when our son is a little older. I also feel its a little pricey for what it is, $25 per person for 1 ride around, but it is a cool experience.

2016: I first visited as a young teenager and had a very exciting and fun time. 15 years later I get to share the fun with my own children! 7/2023: It is now under new ownership. It is no longer the zoo for me.

The visit was horrible for me,my daughter, and her family. The driver of the tram drove so fast. We were in the back car and the seats were a small board. Everyone else in the other cars had seats. She drove so fast and the bumps were horrible. I dont mean a few small bumps, I mean jarring bump and she never slowed down. No much interaction with the petting animals. Definitely not woth the $25 per person that was spent.

My family and I had a blast. Very interesting tour/ride. Make sure you check in at the barn before exploring. The wait time for the ride depends on the size of the groups. Youll want to buy more than one bucket of feed, its awesome feeding them, but make sure you listen to the guides on feeding tips. Bring everything possible to keep you shaded/cool from the hot weather. They do sell fans, but it was flimsy and tore easily. Great experience overall, thank you.

Not worth the money anymore. We used to bring the family every time we visited Houston, but not anymore. Ever since the new owners took over, the place has gone downhill and is just a money grab. Not only did ticket prices go up, but there s less than half the animals there were previously, and less animals to interact with on the tour. No more pony rides, and each person is limited to a single tour ride. The tour is now super short and rushed, despite there being no line of people waiting. You re packed into the trailer like sardines, shoulder to shoulder with strangers, and knees bumping into one another. The stops also felt rushed and did not have the same vibe and feel under the previous ownership. Just not worth it for our family of 5 anymore. EDIT: In regards to owners response - multiple people have made reviews on the drop in animals, you can claim to have more, but as the saying goes, perception is reality. It does no good to have more animals if they are tucked away and do not interact with the tour, nor can be easily seen for viewing. Nobody is claiming these are performance animals, yet thats the sword you wish to lay on... Speaking from experience, the tours are most definitely shorter. They may take the same route, but the time is much shorter. Under prior ownership, the stops were much longer and more interactive. The tour guide would get out for some animals, provide explanations and provide ample time for feeding and photos. This tour was 100% rushed compared to past trips. I will take quality over quantity any day, sadly you provide neither.

I had a really bad experience at this place. We have been coming here for years but it seems ownership has changed. They charge so much per ticket and then they charge separately for the food buckets. After the short ride, they take away all the food buckets and you cant even use them to feed other animals which are around. Really sad how the place has become. Please dont waste your time.

Enchanting experience for 1 yo to 100+. Many small, mid and large sized animals to keep your hopes alive. The Giraffes where very awesome and the Bison eating out of your buckets. Great people that run it. All people were families or schol kids. Only waited 30 mins for Tram through trials to see nature at its best. Recommend going before it gets too hot. Prices afforable. Tram conductor very informative and funny. 5 Stars

My grandkids always love coming here to see the animals. We last went two weeks ago, and unfortunately, the tram driver thought he was a comedian and his non-stop, high volume blabbing and stupid jokes basically ruined the entire experience. That was intensified by the fact that the loudspeaker was about four feet from our heads, and by the time we finished the ride we couldnt wait to go home. Basic animal facts and less patter would have made for a much more enjoyable experience.
