Service was fair. Wait time for food was 30 minutes or so. Burgers were decent but not exceptional. Grilled chicken was bland and tough. Had to send back the shrimp due to odd taste and texture. Manager apologized and offered to make more or change order. Much appreciated the gesture. Bread basket was good and soup was flavorful. Not the best meal, but workers were friendly and courteous.

I had a Ribeye steak here 6 September 2024 and and it was one of the best steaks Ive ever had. Very flavorful and tender. The GM and owner made their rounds to check on each table just to make sure everything and everyone is satisfactory! If you like great food this is the place to go!!!

Let me warn you though if your card doesnt tap to pay make it known early or the wait staff will embarrass you by asking for a copy of your drivers license and your phone number to be able to use your non-tapping card(my waitress was amazing and only doing her job, management is to blame for the embarrassment not updating their system). Staff, food, and atmosphere was great.....update your system to allow for chip paying customers.

There were 5 of us and we all got something different. Filet, salmon, chicken kabobs, pork chops (the nightly special), asparagus, mashed potatoes, bee hive side salads, grilled zuchini, spinach dip appetizer and Long Island Icetea. We all shared. We honestly loved everything. Very classy place. Loved it! Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. Parking: We walked from Doubletree Hotel so Im not sure about parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance from sidewalk is very accessible.

I just want to put it out there that I called the restaurant for a table of 12, 24 hours prior and was able to successfully secure a reservation. I received a text to say my table was ready, so we went in and the staff said they didn t do reservations. I spoke to the manager and he said they don t take reservations. I expressed how this was inconvenient and asked if he could understand how this experience was for us and he acknowledged. I showed him the text message to show that I wasn t lying and still he would not take my reservations. This was frustrating and embarrassing especially since 6 of my family members heard the phone call. I ve heard so many good things but unfortunately this put a very bad taste in our mouths.

HANDS DOWN BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN! Beehive is always a class act! Nobody out does them. I dont care if you go to Perinis, Copper Creek, or Lytle... Heck I dont care if you go to Montana, Beehive has the BEST steaks, flavors, staff, long islands, and service! Excellent chefs. Great for a date night! Real roses on the tables,, nicely decorated,, and clean. To me, their consistency really sets them apart. Weve traveled the country and often find ourselves comparaing the steaks to, and missing, Beehive. The food is truly WORTH the price. The management is A++. Owned by a veteran. Staff is always professional. Happily correct anything youre unhappy with without hesitation. Been here to eat probably a hundred times and never had a bad experience. The ribeye and beef oscar are fantastic. They also have prime rib and lamb certain times of the month. Highly recommend the (giant) 6 layer chocolate cake for dessert! Great weekly specials too (but be warned, they tend to run out if you come late). Full bar. Long islands are huge and fair priced. Drinks are consistent. No obnoxious people, no loud music, no idiotic singing (eh hem, roadhouse).... just a pleasant atmosphere. Not too uppity and fancy, just respectable. No need to get overly dressed to eat here. Oh, and be advised they dont take reservations.

At first glance this place looks so good and nice. Western vibes that I love! The service was just awful. The food took over an hour to come out. They sat wife and I at a small table and we watched them sit 2 big parties after us. We ordered before them. The big parties paid and left before we ever got the food. The food was basic. I should have baked my potato and grilled my chicken breast at home. I had such high hopes coming in here but they treated us life we didn t matter much. Waitress never even offered anything to us other than when we ordered. No water, no extra bread.

I want to start by mentioning that I am not a local, so my perspective on the Beehive may be different from that of the locals. I do travel all over and have had the pleasure of dining at some amazing spots. However, I appreciate the support that the locals give to this small local business. When we arrived for dinner on Valentines Day, there was a small line already formed outside the building. Since it was a special occasion, we decided to sit at the bar so that we wouldnt take up space that couples celebrating Valentines Day might want. The atmosphere at the Beehive is a bit chaotic. The decor is a mishmash of styles that doesnt quite come together to create a cohesive experience. The dining areas are divided by tall walls, and the carpet has an unpleasant odor. The bar is dimly lit and covered in dollar bills on the walls. The menus were cute, covered in old Abilene newspaper headlines, but unfortunately, they were dirty and stuck together, as they were not printed on cleanable paper. The menu at the Beehive is similar to that of a regular steakhouse. The drinks were average, but with some additional bartending training, they have the potential to improve. We ordered a ribeye and a filet with baked potatoes and salad. The Caesar and house salads lacked both presentation and flavor. The steaks were cooked correctly, but they were also lacking in flavor. On a positive note, the service we received was prompt and professional.

This was highly recommended and we were highly disappointed. We did a family dinner. The waitress was not friendly. The food was not good. We ordered fried mushrooms. The food had no seasoning. I ordered chicken kabobs. The chicken was very dry. It came with sauteed veggies there was literally one strip of green pepper, one mushroom, one strip of red pepper, one tomato, and one strip of onion. No one enjoyed their food. We did enjoy each others company.

This restaurant was great. The people were friendly and our waiter was really good and keeping everything flowing. It is chilly, so make sure to bring a sweatshirt of sorts. I did receive a rare steak but was taken care of quickly. And the prices are high but well worth it. Parking: Parking was a little strange. It was around the corner from the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: There are no ramps making it easy to get inside.

I hosted a dinner event in the private room. Overall, the restaurant was flexible with finding a date best for the attendees in the area. The room was large, too large for my event. The server did a great job. Beware of the food and beverage minimum. I was charged $275 and not told in advance that there was a minimum. I was also charged $300 for the room rental. Overall, the food was acceptable. I am most disappointed in the catering management. I did not receive an email confirmation or a contract to sign. In the end, it was their word against mine about stating there was a minimum to meet. I talked to so many different people in preparation for the event. I was truly disappointed with Merrymen. I am not sure if that is the correct spelling as it was hard to understand him over the phone. What Beehive needs to understand is the customer is always right. They do not believe in this philosophy. I felt frustrated and not heard by Merryman. He just declared everyone here states the room rental and food minimum. Consequently, I will not bring my business dinners here or recommend to my colleagues.

The smell of mesquite caught me on the sidewalk so I decided to stop and check it out. Asked for a seat in the corner and just so happened it was a nice window seat, ordered the salmon and it was phenomenal, never had it cooked on mesquite grill and boy was it awesome. Despite my T-shirt and shorts was greeted,seated and served with excellent service. Thanks beehive for topping off an already good day with a great meal. Will definitely visit again.

Had lunch here today and it was the fastest most rude and rushed lunch I ever had! Front hosts we re super friendly and inviting. Once seated our waitress was so unfriendly and downright rude. Snatched my menu out of my hand before I could finish ordering. Rushed through taking our order. As we were eating she reached over us to grab our plates as we were still trying to enjoy our meal. Yes, it was getting close to closing time but I have NEVER felt so rushed and unsatisfied with service as I was today. Food was AMAZING as usual but I wasn t even allotted time to finish my chicken fried steak. Had to box it up and finish it in my car. How sad is that!

We have eaten at the Beehive for years. It s definitely one of the top places in Abilene for a nice dining experience. The food is well prepared and the staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. It s pretty much our special occasion place to eat. We have never been disappointed with anything at the Beehive. Im not overly sure there are a ton of culinary delights in Abilene. Who knows there may be, but this steak house was just okay for the price. I think my NY strip was $41. It was tender and had a pretty good flavor. But not $41 bucks. Had an avocado appetizer that was solid. Shouldve made that my meal. Other notes, beer selection was not good. The service was good and manager was very attentive.

Fresh bread is a plus. I recommend the beehive salad, sweet potato, loaded baked potato and grilled zucchini. The hamburger steak is flavorful and has a good texture! The chicken kabob is also a great choice. The battered shrimp and burger with grilled onion, tomato, and provolone was surprisingly lacking in flavor but it was grilled well. The fries were seasoned well too, but not ordering this dish again. Our server Eddie was great!

For what we paid for, it wasn t worth it. The atmosphere was dull, outdated looks like it was remodeled in 2005. The food had no flavor. Just not worth 160 dollars for three people. It kind of reminds me of Walmart trying to be a target or JCpenny. Just really not worth it at all. Kind of reminds me of a small town cafe and that s the only restaurant you can settle for.

Boy howdy was the food delicious! Went around 5 PM and sat right at the bar! Staff were extremely pilot and very welcoming! The bartenders recommended to get the Chef special which was bacon wrapped steak and shrimp and the sauce they put on that steak was divine! Went for lunch with a coworker, and we both had the chicken fried steak with Cajun sweet potatoes and green beans. The steak was huge! The meal also included a side salad or soup (I had the salad) and bread rolls. I was barely able to finish it all because the steak was so big. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Its definitely a good place to have lunch if youre in downtown Abilene.

A bustling bar area with lots of nice people. They also had tables that could accommodate our group which was on the larger side. Had to steal some unused chairs from other tables and crowd in with each other a bit but its a bar area and thats not usually possible in bar areas so I was pretty pleased. We had lots of laughs with each other. Think all of us had a long island ice tea which theyre famous for. Limit is two but each one is big enough to be two standard drinks so really, Id say one is plenty!

I met the owner Mrs. Patty while getting a pedicure while visiting Abilene, she was the sweetest lady you will ever meet! She told me she owned a restaurant so my boyfriend and I visited for lunch and it was more than amazing! Can t wait to go back and try out the dinner!

What s going on at the Beehive? After a lifetime of enjoying this gem in Albany, and then also in Abilene, a much-anticipated visit at lunch time fell beyond flat. The selection was weird and sad, the food not cooked well, items clearly and inadequately reheated, even the service was absurdly below par. McDonald s would have been better, and that s no exaggeration - my 3 stars was generous for old time s sake. Please get this gem back up to snuff before it snuffs itself out!

I had high hopes for the beehive restaurant. Ultimately I was disappointed. We ordered the prime rib, medium well and it came out lukewarm. Its alot of meat and Im sure some would love it. To me it was pretty bland and definitely not worth the price. The roll that came with it was hard as a rock. I will say my baked potato, salad, and spinach dip was great. The service was amazing, our waitress and all serving staff were awesome. The atmosphere not so much. You sit so close to other guests that you cant even hear the person you are with speaking. Overall I probably would recommend it to anyone who loves meat and hope to go back one day to try sometimes lighter like a hamburger or something. We shall see.

Was surprised by some of the negative reviews since my experience in 2014 was so good. Went back for the first time since then and it still holds up. Hostesses were attentive and polite. Restaurant was cool and had a nice ambiance. Waiter was polite, attentive, and swift. Owner checked in on our table. Food was delicious. The long island is still huge and refreshing. Overall I really enjoyed it. The prices are a little high, but I dont think its out of line for what you get. Lytle and the rest will run you about the same.

I ordered the sirloin 8oz, and it was cooked to perfection. I asked the waiter if I could substitute the side of mashed potato for salad, and he said it was not possible. The salad looked like a soup with lettuce since it had more dressing than vegetables. A minor incident that wont prevent me from returning to this place or recommend it, but I feel it necessary to share happened when I entered the restaurant and was asked how many people were in the reservation. I said two. The lady told me to wait for my friend. I asked if I could wait at the table since I was thirsty. She noted that the business rule is not to give a table until everyone is at the restaurant. Weird. I would encourage the managers to have friendlier rules, waiters, and hostesses.

We are in Abilene, Texas for my nephews wedding. After a long drive from Houston we were ready for a good meal. Beehive did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and flavorful. Our waiter Preston was knowledgeable of the menu and we never had to look for him. He made us feel welcome and was very friendly. It was a pleasant experience!

Not sure what has happened. Visited the Beehive 2 times in the last 2 months, both times the cooks have failed at cooking a medium rare steak. Maybe they will find a chef that knows what medium rare is. At least the drinks are good. But that does not rate a star. A steak house should know what medium rare is.

Our first time here but definitely won t be our last!! Amazing experience from the food to the service! We had the prime rib, it was melt in your mouth tender and the flavor was spot on!! I m a foodie , as well as a former BBQ food truck owner and grew up in my parents restaurant, also travel a lot with my husband so have eaten at quite a few places in my time.This place just took over as number one!! Service was on point but it was the confidence in the cook that took me a back. I asked for a filet my way and expected it to be perfect. A 14 ounce is a hard cook so it s not under or over outside. Jumbo shrimp grilled and the asparagus to boot. I was impressed. if I could only meet again the Air Force girl who works on B1 s I met in the bar I d be complete. I ll never forget the beehive

Ive had lots of friends tell me how great this place was but i was disappointed. Maybe I showed up on a bad day. Steak was very big and very tender but not much flavor. Ambience was very generic and cheap. Bad lighting and bad music. At closing time the staff went to work doing closing duties all around us making things uncomfortable. All things considered its not a bad place but at these prices i would expect a lot more.

My wife and I went to Beehive this evening looking forward to a steak. We arrived at 5:50 and asked if we could eat in the bar and were told yes. After being seated we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order (it was the bar tender who was running the bar by herself. (None of this review is meant to reflect poorly on her). After another 20 minutes we received our drinks and menus. 30 minutes later the bartender was able to come and take our order for food and another round of drinks. Over the next 45 minutes we received our salads from a waitress (we had to ask for bread at that time) but did not receive our entrees. Never once did I see a manager trying to help out in the bar which was obviously understaffed. Still waiting for our food we finally gave up and placed $30 on the table and left. If this is indicative of what service has become there I recommend avoiding Beehive.

we came on a Saturday night with family from out of town . we have been guests of the beehive for three years now . always been a wonderful experience., however this this time has changed our opinion of this once fine establishment. we wanted to start our evening with topshelf drinks for four people we were informed that our membership had expired. we had no problem obtaining a current membership. however the sever was was rude she did not carry herself to the standards of the beehive. as well as to not even get one of my guest that drove 11 hours to see her 75 year old farther got her order Incorrect and for got her baked potato our zucchini and other sides were severed not with meal as well as are our other guest did not even get the special that he ordered until we were almost finished. not a good thing very disappointing asked to speak to owner the rude server told us she could not be disturb.
