We went in 2 weeks ago for the very first time. I ve always heard wonderful things about this place. Everything was going fine until we got to the 3rd or 4th hole and I hear a man yelling at my kids. Seems my daughter put a foot on the grass to step around her brother and they were yelled at to stay off the grass. Apparently, they had laid new sod and he was roping it off, which I understand but to yell at children not okay. In addition, the man kept glaring at my kids and would step in their way while they were waiting for their turns to hit their golf ball while grumbling and being a complete jerk. This occurred through most of the holes we played. He made my daughter so uncomfortable she skipped several holes because she didn t want to be near him and my son was confused why he got yelled at for something as innocent as stepping on grass that he had no clue he shouldn t have stepped on. In addition, my son, who is autistic, was frightened of the man because he kept glaring at them and acting like he was put out that there were people around. I understand not wanting people to step on the grass but here s a tip don t rope it off when you re open and it s busy. DONT T yell at kids and hire someone whose more pleasant and has better demeanor. I will never ever be back.

Great place! Laid back, honest to goodness fun. And the most gorgeous sycamore tree youve ever seen! Its not pristine and new but for me thats part of the charm. And they are actively repairing and replacing minor flaws. Go see them and keep this Abilene icon in business!

I had heard about this place on the radio. I was excited to come, and check it out. I was pretty disappointed. Everything was in pretty bad shape. The man at the booth was ok, but not overly inviting. Some of the holes werent numbered plainly. The greens were in various forms of decay. Probably will not be back.

I read about this place online and wanted to take the family. My wife and 3 daughters and I had a great time. It is their 77th season open but it does show its age. The turf need some repair and the grounds need some attention. There was wood pieces from tables on the ground with screws sticking out of it. Broken concrete where a cherry picker broke through and is now stuck ( you just have to see it). But we took advantage of the tye dye clinic and my kids loved it. All in all we had a blast. Good luck to the owners on many more seasons

We went here as part of a child s birthday party and the old man in the castle CUSSED at all the children. The F word nonetheless! Keep in mind they are 6 yrs old & are rambunctious and yes they don t know the rules. The old man was mad bc they weren t following in the order of the holes WHICH HALF OFF THEM ARENT MARKED. Yes as parents we should have made them go from hole 1 to 2 but who the heck knows what hole is what when the numbers are missing and he made them all go at once! He made them wait to all start together. Seemed like a chaotic choice but ok. Then I m assuming he found out that making 12 6 yr olds all start at the same hole was a bad idea and got mad when chaos happened. I don t recommend. Not a place for children.

!!! cash or check only, so please come prepared!!! This place is wonderful for affordable fun, for families, friends, or dates. It has a very unique atmosphere compared to most mini golf places, which leads to a wonderful experience. Everything is painted brightly, with many thriving plants and cute or interesting decorations. They just celebrated their 75th anniversary, for a very good reason! It has shown its age in some places, the courses themselves could definitely use touch ups here and there, but it absolutely adds to the charm. The man who runs the place is incredibly kind and funny as well. Theyve even started having events on Fridays and Saturdays! Overall, its a wonderful little hidden gem that I highly recommend!

This is the best miniature golf course I ve ever been to. Visiting from Austin and on a whim stopped here to check this place out. Everything about this place feels magical. Its so charming and every one that works there is so friendly and passionate about the park. Mr. Watson was such a gentleman as he patrols the park getting pettings and belly rubs from the patrons.

Driving up to this place, we had second thoughts. We are new in town and arent familiar with the area this establishment is located in and it might look out of place to some. WE ARE SO HAPPY WE DECIDED TO CHECK IT OUT. Doc was extremely kind and friendly. We LOVED all the art and cannot wait to shop at the tie-dye themed store. My four year old son had a blast learning to play mini golf & we cannot wait to visit again.

Play Faire has been around more than 70 years. Doc, the current owner and caretaker truly is enthusiastic about keeping one of Abilenes best memory-makers going. Walking around, Im reminded of Camp Waycoo-an old Saturday morning TV show on our local educational channel which used to focus on a different area elementary school each week. Several of the old props can still be found here at Play Faire, 22 or so years after the show ended.

This used to be a nice place but just recently we had a horrible experience. We met my sister who has just moved back from San Antonio from an abusive relationship; she had bought the groupon for her daughters birthday in hopes of The good deal I told her about that was available on Groupon. The party area was already in use so we just sat at one tables that was in the middle of the park and some of our small party had to stand or sit on the floor since it was just a small 6 seater table. My sister had bought a couple of pizzas for our get together of 10. Not to mention, only 6 hardly golfed, the other four adults just sat as the kids golfed. We only stayed for one hour. In the end, my sister paid $24 for 8 to golf on a Groupon and he charged her an entrance fee of $5 per person of each person that came in addition to two people that only dropped off a card. When my sister in law asked to give her a military discount, the owner rejected it saying that my sister was already receiving a discount. I tried to explain to the owner that we had been there before in the same situation and never had he acted so rude, rolling his eyes, saying he has to make money too. I told him that it doesn t explain anything like the admission fee in the terms and conditions of Groupon nor did it apply when we had once paid without Groupon. Evidently, this guy makes his rules up as it goes, or maybe he was just tired of Latinos for the day. As much as I hate to say, it s a reality when we are sometimes treated unfairly. It s sad because now we don t want to go there again. Just escape the mosquitoes and go enjoy putt putt with batting cages and video arcade games.

Are you looking at these reviews? One of the reviews says nothing but great stuff and left 2 stars ! What! Folks you either loved or you didnt. To a business owner these reviews really matter. Love it or hate it but dont say you loved it and then turn around and down grade the rating. Ive lived in Abilene for most of my life. This place is awesome for a first date, family time, or just to goof of with your friends. Go check it out. Prices are reasonable and you will not be disappointed. Always a great experience!
