There are so many weekends that I crave Nikos that I think my husband avoids asking me what I feel like eating these days. Its one of my favorite places in Abilene! I definitely recommend giving it a try, but only if youre in the mood for some AMAZING gyros & other Greek foods.

Ordered the Gyro Supreme and some baklava and a drink. The Gyro was so loaded you couldnt see the pillowy pita on the bottom! Amazing taste, the lamb was divine!(wasnt overly salty but just right) and all the olives cucumber and the sauce was just what a gyro should be. Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone who hasnt tried lamb before, this place does it justice and you wont be disappointed. Best in Texas IMHO. Last time I had a gyro was upstate New York, this place beats it by miles....

I love this place!! Every time I come to Abilene, I go there. The gyro plate comes so packed with so much food that I eat it for a couple of days. The prices are very affordable. The husband and wife who own the restaurant are wonderful people, and I always enjoy talking with them.

This place was recommended to me so I had to try it. Went in at lunch time and the place was full. Good sign. Went up and ordered a gyro combo and baklava. Guybat the counter was great and food came out pretty fast considering how busy they were. The combo was only like $12 and with the baklava the total was a hair over $18. Gyro meat was piled and very good! Flavor was amazing and the pita was so soft. Cant wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu!!

I will definitely say its great flavor, affordable friendly staff, and an amazing gyro u know, like a gyroscope, not Hero, lol. I dont know why people keep calling it a Hero, its Gyro like spinning, spinning meat, lol it grinds my gears . Anyways, the pita was pillowy soft, the Taziki was creamy and full of flavo. The lamb, oh my God, was Devine, and most importantly, it wasnt overly salty it was the perfect taste. If you love meat, this is the place where the Gyro and subs come loaded with meat. If youre into Gyros or Hero, I cant believe I just said that word. You should absolutely give them a try.

WOW! Welcomed us when we walked in. Abundent of great food with nice atmosphere for the perfect price. We have a running joke in our house that we bring the crowd where we go. The place was empty when we arrived 10 minutes later packed inside. I must say this is the first time my teenager wasnt able to finish his food! DO NOT waste your money here. The chicken is literally better at your local grocery store. The chicken seemed to have been done since early in the day and it was in the warmer the entire day and they gave me some hard to eat & crusty chicken that was super dry with ZERO flavor. The salad with it had ZERO flavor too. It was a complete waste of money. I ve paid around $20 bucks for a Greek meal elsewhere and it s hands down flavorful and delicious but this is the WORST I ve ever had. Save yourself time, money and the disappointment and simply just don t go. I wish I would of known it was this bad.

I do not understand the hype at all with this place. Tried it when they first opened long ago and wasnt a huge fan, but it was ok. Tried a few weeks ago, got the chicken gyro and a salad with chicken and my brother and mom got the same. All the chicken was chewy and old and not warm or fresh in any way. My husband hates this place too. Its just not good. Would like to try it when it is like everyone claims ! No other place in town has gyros except texas flaming grill, and THAT place has good ones. Portion sizes were huge, but couldnt enjoy it and its not cheap. I will say the tzatziki sauce was good. Good enough to give this place 2 stars.

The food was very good. However, the cashier older lady with white hair and glasses was such a grump. Like her responses were with attitude and contempt. I really hope she was just having a bad day and not racist. She was awfully kinder to the couple before AND after us. We just asked for 3 gyros (no modifications) and had asked her if it comes with fries and responded rudely If you want it to, go look at the picture . It was her tone. Closed on Mondays. Nikos is geared towards pleasing a large, hungry working crowd. They knock it out of the park on almost every level when you consider that. I love it! Its a grab a big ol hot gyro and go type place. Perfect for lunch! Quality is at the higher end of average and portions are large. Its a great value. I highly recommend their combo plate. Some need to manage their expectations.. No, its not a 5 star fine dining authentic Greek experience where the food is just overflowing with complex, fancy flavors and scratch sauces. At under $10 for a huge gyro with fries and a drink why would you expect that?? Where else can you get this kind of a meal for the price? Ill wait.. Please understand business. Its not fair to say the food is flavorless either because that is simply untrue. I wonder if the people saying that have actually eaten true unseasoned meat? Could they jazz up the tatziki sauce? Sure. Is the chicken sometimes a bit over done? Yeah, but Ive noticed improvement. If youre not happy give them a chance to fix it before ranting. I cant say Ive ever had an issue with my order,, but if I did I have full confidence the owner wouldnt hesitate to fix it probably with no questions asked. Nikos has remained CONSISTENT for such a long period of time. I believe this is what really makes them shine. Theyve never dramatically raised prices as most restaurants do after a while... the quality of the ingredients hasnt changed.. no drastic changes to hours... plus the owner is both very hardworking and friendly. He and his wife work ALL the hours the place is open. Give them some credit! Ive been coming in for years and we always chat. For what it is, Nikos is a great choice!

What bummer - SO disappointing! All the good reviews set my expectations too high apparently. Weve never had Greek food with so little flavor. We almost thought we had covid and lost our sense of taste again! But, no. My husband and I both got the gyro, fries, and drink special. The fries were very good and the best part of the meal. The gyro had almost zero flavor! The meat was virtually tasteless. The pita was completely tasteless, and the edges of mine were all hard, so I had to tear them off. However, the tzatziki sauce was the absolute WORST. It had the consistency of thick sour cream, but was mostly yogurt with a few little pieces of cucumber (I think) in it. No dill, no mint, no garlic, no FLAVOR. The gyro had some very bitter red onion pieces, a few pieces of tomato, the meat, and some yogurt (I refuse to call it tzatziki). It didnt even have a crumble of feta! We were visiting Abilene from Odessa, and really hoped to get some good Greek food, as our Greek restaurant in Odessa closed. All we learned is that Nikos, while extremely friendly, was either having a very bad day, or Abileners have no idea what good Greek food is!

As soon as you enter, you can sense the tobacco smell that supersedes the Mediterranean species this place pretends to offer to its customers. A rude caucasian cashier referred to shawarmas and gyros as the same food but from different countries, they all are the same, she said with a perfunctory southern accent. I ordered two chicken gyros and was disappointed when I discovered they did not put the sauce in the gyro. It was the driest chicken I have ever had. The food was awful, and the service worst.

We wanted something to break the cycle of what this town has an abundance of, you know, pizza, burgers, BBQ, Mexican, etc. Ive traveled the world, Ive eaten in places where neither the server bor myself could understand each other, along with that, Ive eaten unknown types of meat from many street vendors. I hold these experiences and meals as the bar to which I measure food. Its a high standard, and Nikos has reached up and put themselves into one of favorite places to eat. WOW. This Place is Authentic with Amazing quality. The prices are VERY good. Jimmy is a great character, friendly and positive energy and he did an amazing job on every dish he prepared for us. I ordered the traditional Gyro AND the Supreme gyro. Big mistake. I should have only ordered one, because these things were huge!!! The pita bread was fresh, the meat portions were seasoned perfectly and very good, the cucumbers and tomatoes were hand cut chunky style (very nice) and the tzatziki sauce was refreshing. My sister and her friend ordered the Gyro platter. Another great dish. We finally topped it off with some of their fresh handmade baklava. Mmmm. Very Good. This is a MUST TRY during your stay in Abilene, or if you live here. I was only in Abilene for 1 day and chose this place to eat over all other places. Was not disappointed. Wow! The double gyro definitely lives up to its name! I was able to separate the fillings and made 3 gyros out of it! I m so glad I ordered extra pita because there was no way I was eating one double gyro in one sitting! The food is delicious and the price is beyond reasonable ($7.99?!) for the quality and quantity you receive. The tzatziki sauce is super flavorful and creamy, the gyro meat is seasoned to perfection, the fries smell heavenly and the baklava melts in your mouth.
