It was nice to go on this trail. I didnt get to see a lot of species unfortunately. I think the place could use some renovating and hopefully it gets more visitors so they can continue with having this nature site. Bring bug repellent but if you forget, theyre nice to have plenty.

I am sure this is a fantastic place in normal years . With no water the number of birds other than vultures is way down. Place needs some upkeep and maintenance. If you have to pay to see it it should be kept up. $5 to get in each. Only reason not two stars is at our last ditch effort one more stop we saw a lifer bird . A female crimson Groesbeck. So win. If they get some water I will be back and give it another try.

First visit here from recommendations by RGV birders. It was a cloudy day and I didn t see many birds, however a lot of butterflies. None of the ponds had water due to the drought. Sad to see. Clear paths for easy walking nice price of $4 for seniors. Bathrooms inside were clean

The lady running the entrance was super kind and seemed to really enjoy her job. She told us the history of Frontera Audubon and the historical house that sits on the property. Lots of lizards this time of year! However they don t put out bird feed on Sundays so we didn t see many birds but it was fun regardless. It is mostly run off of donations and fundraising and the some of the upkeep is taken care of by local high school volunteers. One of the ponds was all dried up because they ran out of irrigation water to keep it full but the other three were full and we saw turtles ducks, and cranes. Feeding the animals is not currently allowed. It is a wonderful little forest-y nature walk! I loved it and will definitely go back! Also college students get a two dollar discount from the $5 entrance fee which is nice.

A nice little green space inside the city. The site isnt very big but there are some nice trails and its a great place to bird. You can find a number of vultures roosting in the trees, chachalacas running around, and the occasional parrots flying over.

Very beautiful experience with the different kind of birds also our Catholic retreat ment. The sound of the water falling from there, the birds singing, the squirrels running with the seeds, everything was so beautifully, we have this nature in our city and we have yo enjoy what God has given us. Definitely I will comeback again to get the family membership.

We went to this place 2/7/21 .We are visiting from out of state and the web site shows this as a very interesting place. We were very disappointed in this park .We found the trails (dirt paths) poorly marked. We saw weeds and a few cactus. The only birds we saw were Turkey Vulchers. It was a waste of time and the $8.00 we paid to get in. If you are in the area and want to see some birds and like to hike on gravel marked paths. Go to the State Park a few miles away. We saw several different birds and several different kinds of plants and trees..

I waa blown away by the sheer beauty of this place. There are a LOT of places to go birdwatching in the valley and this is definitely one of, if not the best places to go. In just a few afternoon hours I saw: turkey vultures, Harris hawks, white tailed hawks, coopers hawks, green jays, northern cardinals, woodpeckers, kingfishers, various hummingbirds, flycatchers, warblers, earless lizards, brown and green anoles, an abundance of butterflies, rose bellied lizards and beautiful scenery. The trails are all very well maintained, with bridges and scenic overlooks located throughout the park. Several birdfeeders, ponds, watering holes and varied flora cover the park. Just make sure to bring mosquito repellant. I forgot mine and luckily they had some for free at the front desk but I would still bring some because there are hoardes of mosquitoes there and they will ruin the experience. Overall I highly recommend, its super close to the valley nature center and estero llano grande as well!

Frontera has a wonderful nature trail, inspiration garden, and historical home on the property. This is the perfect place for a small outsoor wedding and reception. It is also great for engagement and graduation photos. There is a charge for these events to occur, but it is reasonable and the money goes toward maintaining this lovely oasis in the City of Weslaco.

Assuming you are a serious bird watching enthusiast, this wildlife reserve offers the perfect location to capture glimpses of the unique seasonal aviary creatures. The hours to visit are a bit short but when you live in south Texas the heat can be overwhelming. In conclusion, I must say my visits were relaxing and educational.
