Heard back in the day this place would be hopping, but looks as if it is hit and miss now days. Nice bar with a few pool tables and a great country atmosphere. The Cafe last time I ate there had great food and service. Only wish I could have seen this place as others did years ago.. Had Karaoke friday night, but probably could use an updated system to include a couple more monitors so you dont have to look in the corner to see the words. Could use some other tequila options too.. Update: still could use a slight investment into their Kareoke system to include some more current songs.

The only thing honestly going for this place is the atmosphere. Very old timey, which I enjoy with most country cooking places. The food was very, very disappointing. We had fried mushrooms for starters, and the breading wasnt seasoned at all... incredibly bland. The ranch was the only thing making them edible. Had a side salad as one of my sides, and someone didnt check the quality of the lettuce because there were several blackened or extremely brown pieces in my bowl. I had the catfish, and the cornmeal wasnt seasoned either. Luckily, I asked for lemon and tobasco. The hush puppies were ok. You taste spice but nothing else. Wife ordered the bbq baked potato, and the only flavor in that was whatever disgrace they used for sauce. The meat looked prepackaged and processed. Our waiter came up to the table and immediately grabbed my arm, talking about my tattoos.. which is a bit odd and uncomfortable as I dont know him from Adam. He was friendly, and I knew he meant well, but cmon, dont pit your hands on somebody you dont know... Ive heard good things about this place, but I wont be back

Classic good southern cooking - cant go wrong with the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. The fried pork chops were also amazing. Portions are huge, atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, and service is great. Ill be back.

This is going to be a 2 part review. First the positives. Positive: Staff is Friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Ive been here twice. 1st time was for live music and drinks. 2nd time was with the family for dinner. I highly recommend this place for a late night out with friends and a fun evening. For Dinner we had 2 kids meals, the Chicken Chicken Fried Steak, and Breaded shrimp. The steak and shrimp had good breading. It wasnt over breaded. Would recommend a little more seasoning though. Negatives: Whoever makes the gravy for the steak and potatoes needs to go to culinary school. Its either the least flavorful gravy mix or the chef only knows about flour and black pepper for seasoning. Seriously, if your gonna pride yourself on Chicken Fried Steak, make sure the gravy has flavor.

18 May 2024. Can t rate the food because we never got any. Can t rate the service because we never got any. One star for atmosphere because the outdoor seating at sunset was beautiful. We called in advance to ensure they were serving, drove quite a ways to get there. Arrived and were shuttled back and forth between the cafe and the club. Told them all we wanted was to sit outside for a meal. They told us they weren t serving, and we said we called in advance and they said they WERE serving. So we were seated outside as requested, read the menu, waited 15-20 minutes for literally ANYONE to show up, and no one did. By that time, it was 8.00pm, which on their menu was the stated end of serving hours. So we got up and left. True to their word, we weren t served.

Very clean, large and nice restaurant. Staff is super nice and waitress was very good. The chicken fried steak was very large and perfectly made one of the best I have ever had. Vegetables were cooked perfect. Ana plenty of good cream gravy left over for the Texas toast to stop up. Large parking area, bar with live music, large outdoor patio overlooking a creek. Beautiful wooden building. Well worth the visit for sure. I will definitely be coming back for sure.

Sunday lunch....2nd time to visit. Not bad at all and i would recommend this establishment for lunch. Famous for the signature chicken fried steak, but one person at our table ordered the cheeseburger. Let me say that when I saw this plate, I knew it was made for Shrek! That buger was 1lb of meat and texas size buns to go with it, covered in French fries!! It was not fully consumed and was left for cleanup. As for the chicken fried steak, it was delicious with just the right amount of breading. Side of greens beans and a salad. Wife ordered fried catfish and shrimp with Mashed Potatoes and steamed vegetables and it was devoured. No complaints about the food at all. But 4 stars for the service only because it took a while for drinks to be ordered and one person never got their salad till near the end of the meal. Try it out when you get a chance!

The Rocket Cafe is great place to go and have a great meal with friendly fun relaxing atmosphere. It is definitely worth the trip and great prices. The last time I had the chopped steak. It was as delicious as we ate this time. They also have live music on the weekends. It is a must try. We will definitely make the trip again. Vegetarian options: You can order vegetables from the sides. Parking: Parking by the Restaurant and a large parking lot across the street. Kid-friendliness: Had games for kids to play while families sit and talk before and after.

If this was just a week ago I would have given 5stars! But unfortunately this past Saturday my family and I brought some friends that recently moved to the area to show them one of the places we enjoy! We were hyping it up all week; telling them how sweet the staff was and how good the food was! Well, we had a large-ish party of 8, so of course we knew we would not be seated as quickly as we normally would when its just our 4 - no problem. We only waited maybe 15-20 minutes tops for that. Then we were seated and didnt even have our drink order taken for over 25 minutes. An older lady, who I can only assume was meant to be our server, came by 3 times to say one moment but never once formally greeted us. I asked the host if they knew who our server was and if they could send them over since we hadnt even had our drink order taken... she said she would take it. We got our drinks - still no one else came by. My son dang near finished his drink before my friend asked again, Who is our server? We would like to order... she went to speak to the lady who previously said one moment and she appeared to, allegedly, say,I am not serving them. ... my husband and I have #1 never had her as a server prior to this day, 2 we always tip a MINIMUM of 20% (that is if service isnt great), and being a former service industry worker we ALWAYS go out of our way to be kind and patient with our servers - so for the life of me idk what exactly we did to be ignored. Another server, who weve had previously, came over and took good care of us... FINALLY. Our food was great as usual. Then at check out we asked for the bill to be split into our two families (yes we already asked the server to have it that way prior to check out or even us ordering but it wasnt so we had to ask at the counter). It was way more trouble than it should have been. Needless to say, it was a disappointment after raving about the place. We will be back because this is the only time it wasnt great. But if no speaks up for the not so great times, it cant be fixed. Ty to the beautiful young lady with the piercings who served us! As for the elder woman with short hair - I hope you have a better week.

We used to go to this place on Wednesdays, when they had the all-u-can-eat catfish. That was back in the good old days, pre-covid! I believe they have new owners, or have just changed the way they do things now because that is no more. Service was excellent, our waiter (and I cant recall his name, sorry.) has been working there for over 20 years, and he treats you like a friend. The entrees were good, and very large portions. We had fried catfish and chicken fried steak. Now, let me tell you about the appetizers...amazing! Usually, one doesnt go on about those, but my goodness, they are excellent . We had fried mushrooms, zucchini, and onion rings. The individual mushroom and zucchini chip can fit your whole hand. Theyre huge! Onion rings were massive also. The batter they use is super crispy, light, and flavorful. I am an onion ring fanatic, and these now rank in my top three. We have gone back since and ordered all appetizers only. Theyre so good we made it our whole meal!

We had heard that this place was pretty good, so we thought to give it a try. Dont know if youve ever seen a 1 lb burger before, but that thing was HUGE! Service was a little slow, but it was nice. Really disappointed with our dinner this evening. Our server took our order and brought our food, nothing more. We were there an hour and a half as a family of 4, over an hour waiting on the food. When the food arrived I was disappointed to see a frozen burger patty for my cheeseburger rather than a fresh made patty. The meat was not seasoned at all, and my onion rings were very soggy rather than crispy. When you visit a well established home cooking restaurant, a flavorful fresh burger should be a 10/10. This is the second time my visit had been not very good which is unfortunate because we live very nearby. The time before last I ordered a BLT and got the precooked microwave bacon on my sandwich. I don t even buy this at home, I would never buy this at a restaurant and pay $ for it. I ll save my $65 and go somewhere else unfortunately unless the food and service improves. :(

Been coming here since I was a kid, and this place has been through many changes but remains true to what I remember - good comfort food! The portions are big, and everyone is always smiling and happy by the time were done. Sometimes (not always!) the service is a little slow, but if youre not in a hurry then its not even a bother. The staff is friendly and are quick to address any mistakes that happen, and if youre torn on what to order theyre happy to help you make a decision!

Great place to eat at, food wash fresh and nice large portions. Service was good. I will definitely be coming back here! Hard to find good places like this anymore. Keep up the good work, place is fantastic!

Don t know much about anything but a poor business model. Tried to visit on a beautiful spring afternoon on a motorcycle ride but they didn t want to seat anyone outside on the amazing deck in the perfect weather?!? What, what really? I don t think y all are doing it right.

Nice place to grab a bite and hear some live music for a $10 entry. The food was really good and had great flavor. Drinks are so so. Jon Taffer needs to visit here and get the bar staff educated on mixology and timeliness. Parking: Weird parking lot difficult to get out of. Needs to be wider.

Chicken fried steak night! Rockett is a go to! Ample size CFS is fork tender a d smothered in gravy. Sided with loaded baked potato and an additional side. Fried mushroom appetizer and a couple of drinks from the bar... its a private club so bring your ID! Parking: One off street parking lot is same side of street right next to restaurant. Additional parking is available in a huge lot across the street from the business. No worries. Be careful crossing the road... especially at night. Kid-friendliness: Families are welcome. Bar and dance floor is on the opposite side from restaurant and is limited access. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp is available from parking lot and inside restaurant down to dining floor. So... up to enter, then down to dine.

The food was great . Went to eat & see Charlie Robinson. The bar wasn t serving any vodka drinks although 6-7 bottles sat on the bar. Draft beer was $7 for a disposable 8 oz cup of draft beer. Not going back!

Great little spot. We always hit up once a month. Best CFS around these parts!! Great atmosphere as well. Parking: Great little location, just like it says Hill country atmosphere. Wheelchair accessibility: Nice big accessible ramp.
