First time we came here a few years ago was wonderful. Returned today for a nice afternoon meal and was very disappointed. First of all the food was okay so I was surprised to see a bill for $100 for just okay food. The service on the other hand was extremely slow, no one checking to see how things turned out or if anything additional was needed and we waited 20 mins for our bill long after finishing up our meal and it wasnt at all busy. I dont think we will return since we eat out regularly and arent usually disappointed with where we choose to go.

Terrible service. Will not be coming here again. Our waiter had tables all around us and not once would he check up on us. A table arrived after us and they got their bread first. I had to ask the waiter if we were getting ours and rudely he responded yes it s coming . It s a one and done for us at this location and we love saltgrass.

I did not have a good visit. I was very disappointed with the food quality and strawberry lemonade. The water taste was soooo bad! It was like old dirty water. The steak was burnt and has no flavor at all. Did not taste like salt or anything. The loaded baked potatoes had hardly any butter cheese and bacon. It was my first time but due to food quality I will not be returning for a second chance. The food was barely eaten from.

We re always fans of Saltgrass, but today I didn t get the usual, steak. Instead got the pork chop. Outstanding. Highly recommend it if you re looking for something other than steak. Quality place, we come here often when we re in Waco. Ate at the bar and Jaymi was our bartender. She was terrific.

Great lunch today. I hadn t eaten at a saltgrass since I was a kid. It is still delicious. My filet with bleu cheese bacon butter was cooked perfectly medium rare plus, and my husband loved his t-bone. Our server, Starla, was fantastic. Will definitely be back!

Went here august 29th for my birthday dinner.....my wife and I were very displeased with the overall experience....our order was messed up the Brussel sprouts my wife ordered were microwaved to death...my steak was supposed to be medium but came out almost beef jerky cooked.....not the saltgrass experience Im used too from other locations.....our waiter was stoned out his mind....from the looks of other workers eyes in there its a normalized practice.....I will not be spending my money at the waco location again.

Food is great and I had an amazing waiter. He was naturally attentive. The atmosphere is very nice and the Baylor Bear is just the right amount of local touch. The only hangup is that the kitchen takes a long time to get food out. Even at slow times it can take a while. But if you go knowing this then its not so bad. Its worth the wait. My family will return to this location. The first location we ever liked.

Seated by hostess at a table, 20 minutes later I wasn t waited on. I did get up and inform hostess, and still nobody waited on me. Left, told the rude unpleasant lady in all black I didn t get waited on, her reply okay have a goodnight! Update! I went to Fish City next door, and received great service and food. Two other people walked in and sat at bar, and they received the same unpleasant experience with Saltgrass! Very disappointed that Saltgrass treats customers the way they did.

I m on a special diet and the manager would not work with me at all. I wanted just a ribeye and they were too lazy to work a deal to take off some money for the sides. I called up walk-ons across the street and they hooked me up. Go there instead of here. Management at other chains usually always works a deal for me due to my dietary needs. My wife got the chicken fried chicken and the gravy was too salty. Dietary restrictions: For being a steak house they have no dietary options for someone who only eats meat.

Today, I ordered a hill country salad as a pick up. When I arrived home and took it out of the bag,they had placed my cups of dressing directly on top of the salad and there were several pieces of brown lettuce. I was disappointed because I had eaten this salad inside the restaurant about 2 months ago and really looked forward to having it again,plus I paid almost $20 for it. This was a very disappointing restaurant visit. My daughter and I walked in and were seen by a waitress who not only did not greet us but immediately turned away from us. There was no hostess and very few customers. After a few minutes, the hostess finally showed up. We were eventually seated in an empty part of the restaurant. We sat there for another few minutes reviewing the menu. While reviewing the menu, something (looked like old sauce of some kind) got all over my hand. We never had a waiter or waitress visit the table, so we left. We have been to this location several times but will never return.

Steaks are always good, but service is a hit or miss.. you do not get discounts just 1 free dessert if they mess up no matter how big the mess up is.. They missed up our order (never brought 2 of our streaks) advised waiter, he said ok.. waited 15 min.. still no steaks, only had the sides) called the manager, advised her we never got the other 2 steaks, found out they were never order .. wait 10 more mins.. so as a family we did not eat together cause half had food the others did not; it was a family celebration.. now I m upset.. finally get all the food.. get the bill it s $125.. there is no discount for their screw up. made us wait, treating us like it was our mistake.. They tell us they can t do anything about their screw up but we can give you 1 free dessert.. (who wants 1 dessert, you forgot 2 peoples orders) I just spent $125 and no apology given.. at least you could have taken 10%.. Thank you for ruining my family celebration.. And for not answer my email about my complaint.

I had a terrible experience at this location. It took close to 1.5 hours to receive my entree and when I did the chicken was undercooked. The service was also subpar. The waiter was very inattentive. Updated 8/3/2024: Ive been here a few times and this last time left me pretty disappointed. My mom and I came here at about 3:40, and there werent many people. There was no one at the podium when we walked in, but there was a waitress just at the bar that saw us come in but turned right back around after seeing us. We waited for a couple more minutes until she finally came out and asked us how many were in our party, which were only two. Then a different hostess came up and finally got us seated. We were seated in an empty area, and we waited for over five minutes for someone to greet us, but no one ever came. We finally decided to leave after over 20 minutes. I dont usually like leaving bad reviews, but Im really disappointed in this visit. It was pretty busy when we came, but we were given a table pretty quickly. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. I even accidentally left my glasses and I had to come back to get them, and they were very quick to find them!

I was in Waco for an overnight business trip. I chose Saltgrass because of the great reviews and I had never been to one before. I was seated by a very nice hostess at the bar (which I requested). The bartender was training someone new so service was slightly delayed but they were both very nice, professional, and always smiling. The food was mouth watering and the cocktail was made with care! The locals are very nice and there was easy conversation while we watched the Olympics. I would recommend and return!

I have had 2 nice dining experiences here but recently we had a total disaster. If any customer with a swallowing disability or gastric bypass THIS establishment will not bend to accommodate the customer. We had ask if a childs portion off the kids menu could be purchased and pay for it at adult pricing. We were told it was against their policy by the waitstaff. I requested to see the management but was no more helpful. After explaining in detail as to the medical problems, management showed lack of understanding, willingness to accommodate the customer. So if anyone has issues of this nature Salt Grass will not accommodate you. This is one customer who will never go back.

Lets talk about Salty Grass, I visited it because some friends invited me. When I arrived, I realized that logically, I was in a steak house. My friends had already ordered, and so I sat down and ordered my appetizer, some fried mushrooms. My friends ordered Chip and Cheese with Brisket and an order of fried onion. But Ill talk about that later. I also ordered an order of Ribs with Chicken and mashed potatoes as a side. And my friends ordered 2 T-Bone steaks. After several minutes, the dishes arrived. The nachos with cheese looked good, although I didnt try them. The Onion looked soft, but I didnt try them either. The mushrooms, on the other hand, were not crispy, something that was strange to me since they claimed to be fried. Had no crispness anywhere. When I went to try the ribs, they had a strong grilled flavor. That flavor when the grill is too hot and you just burn the meet, yes, that flavor. Although the ribs were soft and came off the bone on their own. And the barbecue sauce was little to non excited. The predominant flavor was the taste of the hot grill and burnt meat. The chicken had a sauce that I personally didnt like. But the worst was the mashed potato, a sandy mashed potato, which you could tell they had mixed mashed potato from a box, with a little real potato to give it the appearance of a real potato. That was really disappointing. They didnt even take the time to do it right. One of the steaks came out well, medium well as expected. But another of the steaks was completely raw when asked for Medium rare. I know what a piece of meat is supposed to look like when you order it that way, and apparently, they didnt know how to cook it medium rare... Overall, I give them 3 Although the customer service as impeccable, and the waitress really did a great job. Do I go back? I dont think it is worth. If you really want a great SaltGrass Steak, take it to go and re-cook it at home. I did and came out way better.

Convenient location, terrible service! The food was good but the service was terrible. I waited at the front and a bartender saw me, turned to check if I was still there and ignored me. Then, I walked into the bar and a lady said that I can seat down around the bar, wherever I wanted. Also, if I wanted, I could get a table, I preferred the bar, as I thought that would be quicker. That was a big mistake, I waited so long for my food, that I ended up almost begging for it. The bartender was trying to be nice with everyone but also was forgetful, and each time that he was saying that he would check for my food, he started serving other customers and left me waiting. At the end, I had to ask for the food and that s when finally he went to the kitchen to bring it after 30 minutes from the time that I ordered it. The rib eye was nice but definitely I won t come back. Don t waste your time if you are hungry and want a good service.

Food was fine. We were greeted right away and sat at a table. The first waitress that came by.I said it was her first day and she seemed very nice. She took her order and a few minutes later another waiter came by and said there had been a mix up and he would be taking over our table. His attitude was much different. With the first waitress we had ordered the kids meal and drinks, and our drinks took a long time but no kids meal. After a while, we asked where the kids meal was and he brought it out.It was obvious that had been sitting underneath a heat lamp for some time. We placed our order when they brought out the kids meal. After a very long amount of time we asked where our food was at by another waiter that was passing by and they said they would tell our waiter to check on it. He came out and apologized and said that they were very busy with a large table across the restaurant. But, unfortunately the angle I had I could see right into the kitchen, and I could see them in there playing grab ass. When the food came, everything seemed fine at first.But then my wifes salad would warm due to sitting underneath the heat lamp for the period of time. In all, it took us about 90 minutes to eat at a restaurant that was not very busy at all. When something was said to the manager, his response was.He had just come on duty and he didnt know anything about it. Theres clearly a training issue at the store and an attitude issue with some of those staff. This was my first time at a Saltgrass in many years and it may be many years before I go back.

I don t know her name but I DO know she is thee most rudest waitress there! Last night me and my family came for Father s Day around 8:30pm because we were told over the phone they closed at 10pm. This waitress rushed us, was rude to us, kept telling us the kitchen was closed and that we couldn t get anything else, and proceeded to remind us that they close at 9 and she can t leave until we leave. She also sat behind us with other workers making comments such as I m about to just go and take there drinks because I am ready to go home . Really? Saltgrass Steak House located in Waco, Texas is an overall a good restaurant. The service was average, the food was good but the prices are higher, they have increased. We were surprised about the prices. We had a party of 5. We only had water to drink and we only ordered one appetizer. Two of our party ordered a hamburger / cheeseburger. No desserts. And our bill was $175. We could have eaten at another good (same or equal quality) restaurant for less money. It s a shame that Saltgrass is pricing themselves out of the restaurant business. Because we do enjoy their food. But due to prices we will go elsewhere. Parking: Plenty of free parking available.

Came to Saltgrass for lunch, not busy at this time. I should have chosen another place for lunch. Right away at the front employees discussing who is going where no concern to get us seated. At the table, it took awhile before anyone came over to get our drinks and appetizer order. Finally someone came by so I gave our tea and appetizer order. Came back with drinks and bread, placed our lunch order. Part of my husbands lunch came with my side order on his plate, 2nd waitress to attend to us I let her know what was missing on his plate and that my side was on his plate, waitress advised would get husbands missing side. A 3rd waitress came with our appetizer and I told her to cancel it since we were expecting it before the lunch meal. Other tables were getting their food still no side order. They were taking over for the ladies in the front, while they helped get tables ready, and were seating walk ins prior to reservation. I have been to this Saltgrass several times with family and it is consistently on point. Best Saltgrass I have been to in Texas. Their steaks, firecracker shrimp, wedge salad, and fresh bread are all excellent. I highly recommend you stop here when you re in the Waco area. Overall, it was an OK experience. They werent busy tonight, but the service was extremely slow. The steak was cooked correctly, but it had no seasoning and was bland. Ordered for pick up. Could not get anyone to meet me at the bar, as it was unattended for over 10 minutes and the place was empty. Employees just sitting around or goofing off in the kitchen. I ordered a rib eye and shrimp to go. Confirmed my order with the man who finally came out of the kitchen to the bar area. Was open to getting a drink while I waited for my order, but no one asked or attempted to serve me. When I got back to my hotel , I was even more disappointed. The steak was all fat. The shrimp add on was $13 for 3 shrimp. The cheese was added on my salad, even though I requested none due to dairy allergy. And, no utensils, napkins, or even a receipt. This place was simply incredibly lazy with horrible service, no attention to detail or quality, and overall a waste of money.

Really disappointed. Ate at Saltgrass in late 1990s and it was great. Tried Wacos site. Ordered Chicken fried steak with extra gravy and fries. Fries were good. They forgot my salad and mt extra gravy and my silver ware. No big deal went and got it off their wait station. First bite of steak all gristle. Second bite had the heavy blood taste of liver. Not the best experience. Frozen Margaritas lacked alcohol. Stayed frozen forever which is a sign there is only minimum alcohol there. Believe that Saltgrass is not the place it used to be.

Every experience at this store has exceeded expectations. The people are are great. The location is perfect for travelers staying g at one of the 4 hotels in walking distance along a small, beautiful lake and park. Cheers to all of the folks at Saltgrass that make these experiences great! Parking: Prime time dining on the weekends will lead some to park along the street or in the parking lot ext door. Kid-friendliness: The children s menu isn t too fancy for kiddos, they ll have their pick of some of the common foods that seem basic to toddlers on up. They ll also be a couple of items that start to bring in the flavors most of us crave as adults! Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp accessible and parking is accessible.

This place was packed on the Saturday night that we visited, but they were hustling so the wait for a table was just under 10 minutes. The food was good, standard steakhouse fare. The Shiner Bock bread is outstanding, although I wish they would not automatically bring it with honey butter. Plain butter is more appropriate for the beginning of a meal. Sound carries easily in the restaurant, so it is a little too loud. However, the manager makes the rounds to check on tables and make sure guests are happy.

Top notch in all categories. Food: Great! Service: Great! The ONLY negative was a customer who never asked anyone else if they wanted to hear operatic singing, began to sing loudly for the whole restaurant to hear. I personally like to eat without an interruption like that. This occasion represented an up-scale after-church outing for us, but I was surprised by how many families seemed to be enjoying a routine lunch out. We, however, enjoyed the luxury. They structure the menu cleverly by suggesting pairings of their premium toppings with the main protein. I ordered the center-cut sirloin with crawdads on top. My wife ordered the salmon with crab on top. She recommends the fried asparagus, but you should ask for the shafts to be set aside on the plate because juices and oils laid stop them dampen the desired texture. I thought that her fish was severely overcooked, but they did present it with a crunchy skin. Recognizing that I am a heavy drinker, our nubile server brought a carafe to the table; but he still routinely topped my glass before I was needy. We did not anticipate dessert, but they might sell more if they presented a sample tray at the time of solicitation.

steak was too raw and chewy to my liking. my side (mac&cheese) was cold and had to ask server to redo but took too long to receive to try to enjoy it with my steak and it wasnt baked like it was supposed to be, just hot cheese on top of it. waited 10 mins for my ticket to pay and server took off with our plates and never returned. waited for 15 mins for another person to ask us if we were ready to check out and then waited an additional 10 mins for my card and receipt. this was my 2nd time here, the 1st time they had my whole order wrong and had to wait for 20 mins for my food to be redone. i wont return

Picked this place because it was next to our hotel. 8pm Friday night and packed but only 20 min wait. As usual today the service is ok but definitely not good. Soup and salad was alright but seriously each waitress carried a pepper grinder to the table in their arm pit and struggled to not drop it at the table. So we never get steak at a steak place because it always disappoints so we got the chicken fried chicken and the blacken fish. Must say chicken was great but honestly a vegetable should come with- just saying mom! The fish was .. fish. Not much flavor was expecting a bit of Cajun flavor but nope. Appetizers are WAY overpriced so didn t try them and the bread it s bread and butter- not Texas Roadhouse bread. Funny part paid cash and change was 42.34 and got 42 back?? Guessing don t have coins

My husband and I visited this establishment a few days ago. We had heard so much about it. We had about a 10 minute wait which was not bad considering the time we arrived. I will just get to the point. Our dine-in experience was very unpleasant.. We ordered the potato soup before our meal and enjoyed it for a few minutes before the waitress came by to see if we were ready to order. My husband informed the waitress we will be ordering salads before our meals and to give us about 7 minutes to finish up our soups. I informed the waitress I was ready to order my salad (with ranch dressing on the side) and once my husband heard my request he ordered his as well (ranch dressing on the side)... From this point everything went left field... When the salads came out they both were drenched in ranch dressing as well as my husband requested onions and did not receive the onions on his salad. We ate on the salads for a few minutes and then the waitress came back and said it has been 7 minutes are you ready to order?! To my surprise we already had our salads and we were eating them so there was no need for her to come back in 7 minutes to take the order for the salads... So I asked her politely what is the rush... and her reply was that you said to come back in 7 minutes.... I explain to her we are not in a rush we are taking our time and eating. At that point we didnt see her again for about 20 minutes or more she never came to see if we needed refills or anything. When she finally came to take the orders the orders were wrong when they arrived at the table. My husband ordered broccoli with his salmon and baked potato I on the other hand ordered asparagus with my chicken and rice. When she finally brought the meals out I had broccoli and chicken /rice on my plate and a order of asparagus on a side plate. I told her she could take asparagus back to the kitchen bring my husband his broccoli and I would just keep the broccoli that was on my plate and her solution to this was for me to scrape the broccoli off my plate and give it to my husband!! In all my life I have never heard of a waitress or waiter asking someone to scrape something off of their plate to give to someone else after they (waitress) made the mistake with the order. This waitress need to be retrained in customer service as well as how to communicate and to articulate request from the customers. We will return because the food was great! The service that was rendered was just poor. We are military people and not used to this type of unprofessionalism. *Kudos to the gentleman who came to our table to ask if we needed anything. I believe he said he was some form of supervisor.. *Kudos to the young lady who brought us out our to-go boxes.. Salthrass has always been a pretty decent chain steakhouse, in my opinion, but not so much at this location. Food didnt have a lot of flavor. the salads didnt come out before the meal, so the service wasnt great. Its not the only time Ive thought it was lacking compared to other Saltgrass locations, or I would give it a pass. The best advice is to go somewhere else. We spent about $150 for 2 people, so you can do better.

First time trying a Saltgrass Steakhouse and will be the last. My wife and I had dinner here for my birthday but were highly disappointed in the food. For about $50 less, I could have stayed local to my area an hour away, and had more flavorful.. HOT FOOD. I ordered a 16 oz ribeye with a crab cake on the side and the lump crab meat that was on my steak for the cajun topping extra I ordered, was cold. Not just room temp but COLD. My side order of smoked Mac & cheese had a hot skillet but wasnt as hot as that skillet should have made it. Its as if our food was sitting there for a bit before they brought everything out. Not to mention a very bland tasting steak. My entire plate was like a pool of liquid, flooding what was once a crab cake. Im here for my birthday and plans afterwards and I was not about to complain or cause a scene except simply to eat the meal and be on our way. The appetizer for the shrimp/Jalapenos wasnt too bad but could have been hotter as well. The waiter himself probably has repeated the same story about San Antonio Riverwalk shenanigans eating at Landrys etc etc to numerous customers in attempt to get me signed up for the Landrys membership. I honestly despise this type of thing because in the end its only to get more money out of customers. I wouldnt complain but the flavor in majority of what we ate was extremely lacking and food was not as hot as it should be. Ill take my business elsewhere from now on. Avoid this establishment and head to Texas Roadhouse. Youll save money, not be solicited into a lame rewards program, and actually receive great food and an upbeat friendly waitress. We have a 20 people table and the service from jump was terrible . The waiters are sad and have attitudes . Don t want to do their jobs food was all wrong in multiple tickets it was a big mess . Don t know some of their names but it s a mess first a last time here. Never got bread and butter or anything but everyone else did . Managers came out once and never seen them or the very rude waiter again not sure what happened to her . The initial waiter was mad at first but towards the end started trying to act better stating he had black kids and a black gf I guess trying to say he wasn t racist .
