A lakeside place with a great sunset view. After a day on lake this has quite a few tasty items. I had the chicken tenders that were made from scratch. They were very good and a good portion of food. Cucumber salad had a good flavor. Corn and jalapeño side...corn tasted like it came from a can. I thought the chicken was delish! The other order was crab cakes. They were good but looked like they were premade. Other things to try....Texas pasta....can get with chicken or shrimp. Coconut shrimp...a favorite! This is an outdoor restaurant but they have fans to keep you cool. Beautiful sunsets!!!!

Great spot with a dock to park your boat, or a parking lot if youre a landlubber. Awesome view and shaded, fan cooled outdoor seating. Kid-friendliness: Normal kids menu. Chicken tenders, cheeseburger, Mac and cheese, and chicken quesadilla. Mac and cheese has hatch chiles, so not for the kids who cant handle spice.

Expsensive burgers cooked well when we asked for medium, very dry and flavorless with almost no BBQ sauce on it, and our server all but disappeared on us after bringing our food. A lake restaurant at the peak of summer should give every table one or more pitchers of ice water to self-serve, especially since their water cups are tiny. Will not be going back. 2 stars instead of 1 because our server was nice, at least.

The waiter was nice but first thing we got told was there was no brunch available (sounds lazy to me and I work in food service) we were looking forward to trying the chicken and waffles and the fact that we got there around 11:45 so they just had OPENED?!???!!! I got the chicken sandwich (which was fine) but my partner got the crusted Parmesan Alfredo penne.. it was so horrible! The sauce was running, had jalapeños in it?? Like what?!?! The chicken fell out of the crust part breading if you will, dry chicken, very bland sauce. My partner didn t even finish half of the food because it was that bad! Took about maybe 3 bites and called it. Also ordered the grilled chicken with baby potatoes (those potatoes were great!!) but the chicken was very dry and almost chewy like. Not worth the money! Go somewhere else. Very disappointed! The view was great. I told the waiter about how horrible the food was and he didn t even offer a refund for the pasta and just told me that he told the cook about the mistake I would like my money back for the terrible food that was served. Please take money elsewhere. Maybe the other food is good but definitely no pasta from here ever again! No more chicken especially if the cook doesn t know how to cook chicken. Not to mention the frozen margarita was absolute trash. Waste of $84- need a refund for the terrible food.

Wildly overpriced for bad food, badly cooked (fries were bone dry and hollow, fried fish was unseasoned and soggy). No vegetarian options. Check was dropped with no mention of 20% service charge (Im fine with auto-gratting larger parties... but you should at least mention it). The kicker: Were home now and both having stomach issues.

I got the nachos. They came with almost no cheese. I asked for cheese and they put it on the side. Guys, nachos have melted cheese on top. They were out of sour cream. Waiter was really nice. For the price they charge, the place could be nicer inside too. No style, no decor, just plain. The best was the free sunset.

Well very sad because we love going here. we went for my birthday last night the sunset did not disappoint. But the food which use to be so good was very subpar and the menu was very limited for choices I just not good at all had the ribs and they had some weird red bbq sauce all over it and the meat was like perky in bones. The cooks and the bartender mayvneed to learn to read again because we didnt get anything else on our plate right. Order some drinks connie said no jalapeño in her drink came with jalapeño I said no salt came with salt. My first marg was on pint 2nd one tasted horrible no consitancy. Our waiter was very kind and tried to fix it all but he shouldnt have to do that. But he was great guy. And the view breath taking last night these pics have no filter! Parking: Parking sucks very long walk down some very rocky steps Kinda sucked for sure the best parking is reserved for people that use the marina to dock there boats.

Our waitress was excellent..The place has great views and good atmosphere to have drinks and dinner. however, the food was not what I expected. We asked for fish and chips, Steak Kabobs and they were out of both, bbq ribs and they were out.. so it was easier to ask what they weren t out instead of going through the menu.. we ended up ordering Grilled Salmon, which is supposed to be topped with bourbon glaze. The Salmon was dry and bland, there wasn t even a hint of bourbon glaze, I had to ask the waiter for any type of sauce and one of the options was bourbon glaze. I was pretty disappointed with the food. I might come back and give it another try but I will never order the salmon here.

Won t be back. No indoor option so it was insanely hot and uncomfortable in 100 degree weather. Pina colada was terrible..paid $16 for 6 tiny shrimp wrapped in bacon.. waitress didn t provide refills and the cups were really small so we were dying. Not worth the nice view..and the trashy house music just killed any chance of a chill vibe.

Great place to have some food with a view of the lake. The waitstaff were hustling and the drinks were cold. Went here on the 4th of July. No wait to sit down, found a table near the edge of the patio. I chose a salad with salmon. My friend got the chicken caesar salad. Both were good. It was 90-something degrees outside but it wasn t bad on the patio because they had fans. Beware - They do not have a lot of parking spots. We found one up against the curb on the driveway. After parking, be prepared to walk down a steep hill to either the trail or the tram to get to the restaurant. If you have someone who can easily trip on unlevel ground, you might drop them off at the team stop then go find parking. The tram does have a seat for those that need it.

Great location near the water. Food ok. They are not open everyday, just Thursday thru Sunday. BUT, you may want to call first to make sure they are open. We got there just after 6pm on a Thursday, and they were closed. A long way to go, just to find out they decided not to open on a day they normally do.

I would drop charters off here to get a bite to eat, but the GM of Sandy Creek Marina said No. Unfortunate for the owners of 512 that their landlord is a DB. Parking: Gm of sandy creek marina doesnt allow charter drop offs. After a long day on the lake guests usually ask for a nice place to eat. I use to refer them here.

Gia is the most attentive and polite server, she is just fantastic. We came for the view, and even though the lake level is still very low, we were not disappointed. Came here to eat dinner and online it states closed at 9pm. We aren t from the area so we aren t sure of their actual times. We came in around 7pm and we were told the kitchen closes at 8. Ok no worries there we understand. We were waiting for a friend of ours to come in when who I m assuming is the owner comes up and starts yelling and cursing frequently about how he wants to go home etc. not essentially the vibe you want when eating a meal on the lake. He also kept staring at us while walking back and forth which was just plain weird. Ruined the whole experience. OMG!!!! Brunch was amazing. I went with my kiddos and asked the waitress how many chicken tenders comes on the chicken and waffles. She told me one so I order 2 extra tenders. When our food got there HOLY COW!!! Those tenders were like thin chicken breasts! The waffles DONT NEED ANY SYRUP! They taste so good all by themselves. Seriously they taste like funnel cakes . I am not one for bloody Marys but the table across from us were ha ing some and they looked so good. I got one and I was it was SOOO DELICIOUS. I will preface this by saying I have grown up on Lake Travis and have been coming to Shack 512 for many years. However, after todays appalling experience with the assistant manager I will never be returning to this establishment Google doesn t want to post what I originally wrote so here s a summary: We sent a round of waters back because they tasted FOUL. Two people of our table of 9 didn t finish their plates. We didn t send any food back, just paid and tipped. Turns out the manager was incredibly upset with us and telling his staff loudly and cussing that we need to get out and never come back. He even stared us down from the deck until we left in our boat. That s the photo you re seeing. I honestly have never experienced anything like this before and believe he has some serious anger issues to deal with. I warn anyone that comes here to be aware of this guy and recommend not ruining your day here and go to any of the other restaurants on the water that treat their customers with respect.

This is our favorite place in the entire Austin metropolitan area. Weve frequented Shack 512 for many years. The food is great and the service is even better. I should have reduced half a star because the path from the parking lot to the restaurant, where you have to walk down the stairs, is not very clean and it is quite clear that no one clean them . It is full of dirt, dirty, rusted fences, lifeless and thirsty plants, the lights in The road is broken and damaged for a long time. But as soon as you get closer to the restaurant, it gets a new color and spirit, everything gets better and better and cozy. When you enter the restaurant, the faded and relatively old wooden tables and chairs will shock you again, but behind the table and chairs The relatively ugly scenery of the beautiful lake again gives a new color and spirit to the restaurant and the atmosphere. Especially the restaurant is at a higher height than the lake and you have a wide view of the view. It is very beautiful. Unfortunately, the waiters of this restaurant are as expected not active , they visit their customers less than normal and I think they are more busy serving themselves ! There was room for me to reduce another half star, but maybe its not fair to judge for the first time. Maybe that day was hot and the waiters needed a lot of rest and less patience to serve the customers. But the food is very tasty and clean. With good quality and a reasonable price, next to the beautiful view of the lake, it covered a few shortcomings and was not noticeable. It was a good experience.

It was ok for a meal after a day on the lake appraisers were better than my actual meal. The ribs were way too spicy for my taste buds. The hot wings were better than the ribs not as spicy. The salmon was tough and had a nice flavor though. Parking: Be aware you have to park on the street not in the parking lot. The parking lot is available if you have a handicap and proper permit.

Great atmosphere and views although it s a bit out of the way and overpriced for a pub. We went here with a party of 9 to celebrate a birthday. The food was decent yet a bit expensive. The cocktails are priced on the high end and very small. The ribs were great. The chips appetizer was served with a bunch of broken nachos almost like it was the bottom of the bag. Chips with salsa and queso if 15 bucks - likely the most expensive chips in Austin. :) Sides didn t seem all that fresh. The cucumber salad was soggy and a bit mushy. You could tell they don t make it fresh. Personally I would have been embarrassed to serve it to customers paying top dollar. Cucumber salads are supposed to be crisp. Be prepared for tourists crowding the place on the weekends. They have a captive audience here with boaters. Overall I might return but I won t go out of my way.

Great views. Glad they have entrees. Loved the lemon aoli-- i put it on everything broccoli, potatoes, salmon and chicken. Wish there lower price options. They were out of draft beer when i went. Take the 11 min gondola up and down near the handicap parking-- there are no signs so at first we walked down a very steep road.

Shack 512 is a very interesting place. Tucked away on the shores of Lake Travis in Volente, this place is super casual and laid back. The $$ are not going to break the bank. I think that their beer offering is limited and the owners should consider improving the menu. Youve got to be in really good shape to climb the stairs back to.the top. Its a steep climb. Parking is not the easiest to find, and not much has been invested to pave/mark the spots that are in the gravel area. Its a winding road to get to the place, even the smallest of distraction can cause a pretty bad accident. Overall, if youre looking for an awesome view of lake Travis, and dont mind the drive, youll enjoy the food, service and scenic views!

This is a recommendation from a friend and we went on Memorial Day. No waiting, and very prompt service. Loved the food. There s a small hike (a set of stone stairs) to reach the restaurant which adds to the charm. You can drive to the restaurant, but parking is on the side of the road and very few. The hike seemed to be a better option. We ordered the coconut battered shrimp, 3 s company, Mac and cheese kids meal and the Lakeside s mores. Everything was yummy! The view is amazing, without the crazy crowd you see in Oasis or Ski shores cafe. The only thing I would mention is there were not much options for vegetarians/vegans.

The drive out is nice, but the road is very winding. Parking is at a premium here as well, so be prepared for a steep walk. Nothing jumped out at me on the menu, so I went with a burger. I had a Sunset BBQ burger and fries, and they were good. I also had a Jalapeño Peach Mule. It was nice and cold, and tasted good, though you definitely tasted the jalapeño. My wife had the Mezas Camerones. She was warned that they were spicy, and they were. She ended up rinsing them in her water to cool them down a bit. The service was good, and lake view was very nice. The restrooms were clean. We enjoyed our time there and certainly come back.

Shack 512 was a fun night out. The patio is right on Lake Travis and provides an amazing view of the sunset. The food was good, but a bit pricey for what you get (about $20 a dish). They have a fun smores plate for dessert that is a lot of fun for the kids. All in all, it was definitely worth the drive and was a fun night out with family and friends.

Surprised we were able to get a seat on Easter without rsvp. The restaurant is right on the lake with a lovely view. Food was good, wait staff was responsive and appeared to be adequately staffed. Would come here again.

If you can get there BEFORE the crowds... Its such a comfortable and relaxing quality experience for what you would anticipate. We enjoyed the menu,atmosphere and staff... its the affluent/arrogant clowns you have to occasionally deal with. I get it, its a very. and I mean VERY exclusive area... Great food, good drinks. I had the ceviche, really good, and I loved that the sauce had tomato sauce in it. My friend had the salmon sashimi, super fresh and tasty. The frozen mango margarita was also great, but could maybe be a bit stronger. Friendly staff, good service. Great place to go after a day at the Blue Hole in Wimberly.

Great, casual place to stop for lunch while boating on the lake. Free boat parking at the next door marina. On warm days, large garage-like doors are open on 3 sides creating a covered, open-air experience. Chicken tenders were large and delicious. Broccoli and new potato sides were tasty. Service was very good and prices fair. Full bar.
