Food was good, but fairly expensive. I got the chicken fried steak, and it was delicious, but the veggies I got with it, while tasty, were very obviously frozen. Also, while I know this wont bother a lot of people, there was a lot of religious stuff on the walls and I dont like having religion shoved in my face when all I want is a good meal.

Wanted to give this place a try based on reviews but unfortunately it didnt meet expectations. The place is cute, feels comfy and there is plenty of seating. They sat us down quickly and got our orders out but the food I ordered which was French toast came out super dry, I called my waiter and told her what happened and asked if she could remove them from my bill which she did and I only ended up eating eggs, sausage and a hash brown. My husbands and nephews plates were okay. I checked out and that person did apologize.

Ive been going to Victoria for a long time and I wish I knew this establishment sooner. The service is top notch and the food takes it over the top. Highly recommend the ribeye salad with strawberry vinaigrette. Yes, its a full ribeye. The chicken fried steak is a healthy portion as well. If you have to choose between tater tots and french fries, go with the tots. They are great! Chips, salsa and guacamole were amazing too. We will definitely be back!

Gave this place a sencond try after they were closed last week and Google said they were open, today they took a order for to go to large to handle som everyone who dined in could only order half of the menu for full price. Can t have anything from the fryer. No chicken fried steak, no hashbrowns, no fries, why would I pay full price to not get to order what I wanted, don t take orders you can t handle and tell people who drive from 45 mins away they can only order 1/4 of the menu!!! First time visiting Had a Ribeye and eggs ...quite possibly one of the best steaks I have had in a restaurant in a long while. Cooked perfect, properly seasoned and a great cut. Came in today for the first time and was very pleased. Staff and manager/owner were so friendly and helpful. Food was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. They were down a grill and trying to make a lunch catering order, so my food took longer than normal, but I wasn t in a hurry at all so I didn t mind. They kept me updated on the food timing and even offered to comp my meal for the slow cooking. The restroom was immaculate and well stocked with supplies for any ladies or baby needs. Parking can be hard since it s downtown but well worth a little walk to have great food and service. I had the BLT with ago and avacado.

Tried the Mexican Chicken Fried Steak with German potatoes. The Steak was a bit under seasoned and needed more queso and jalapeños. The German potatoes need work - It s mashed root with bacon. A German potato salad should have more acid and be lighter. Admittedly the menu did not say German Potato Salad but I would recommend they investigate.

I am torn on how to review this place. The Water Well Cafe 361 is in downtown Victoria. Gives off small town vibes. VERY clean restrooms. Has reasonable prices. I ordered The Rubio Ribeye . Only $15.95 comes with two eggs your way, beans and potatoes, and a 10 ounce ribeye. Choice of tortillas or toast. The ribeye was more than 10 ounces and cooked perfectly. Very little gristle or fat. The tea was not too sweet. The only part of the food I did not like was the ranchero sauce you can add for $2. It was watery. More like a soup. Had a good flavor, just too watery to be a sauce. If I was grading on food and atmosphere alone it would be five stars easy. The service is where it was lacking. The waiter acted like he was annoyed having to work. The waiter at the next table and had a great attitude and was really friendly. They ran out of beans. Instead of coming and letting me know, or ask if I want a substitution, he just added more potatoes. Then told me he was doing me a favor by not charging me for the extra potatoes. Never refilled my tea. Like I said before, great food. Need to work on service.

The hamburger was average and the meat seemed frozen with grill smoke added. The bun was too large for the meat. The Kids meal sliders use the same burger patty, cut in half. Server was very nice but food was disappointing. I guess my standards are kind of high but when I saw the reviews about the great chicken fried steak, I was excited. The flavor and texture of the breading was ok and the gravy was Avery but the steak and the steak was very chewy. My companion got a lemon garlic chicken that looked like salmon across the table and he said it was cold. The fried okra was soft. French fries were the frozen variety. The side salad was very good but since the dinners only came with one side (even though they were $15-$19), we had to pay and extra $3.95 each for side salads. There were two flies near our table the whole time, the menus were greasy and the table was sticky. Definitely underwhelmed and not understanding all the high average of reviews.

I read the reviews and thought this would be a nice place to take my family. We were disappointed. We had a party of ten for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place had a few customers, and was not packed. The food was not as good as expected and the service was worse. Our salads contained wilted lettuce, sandwiches contained chunks of tomato instead of uniform slices, we felt like we werent allowed to have straws because they only give them to children and the wait staff never came back to refill our drinks. On a positive note, the chicken fried steaks were large and delicious.

I come here just about every other weekend. The breakfast tacos are amazing. My favorite entree is the chicken friend steak and its definitely a reasonable price. The tables are always clean, I met one of the owners today, Sammy, he is a respectful man and his crew always make you feel welcomed. The food is always fresh, I never have any complaints about anything and I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves home cooked meals

One word WOW!! The Water Well burger on the KETO bun is wonderfully tasty and simply delicious to eat. Terrific atmosphere, very friendly wait staff. This is a MUST VISIT if you re within 50-75 miles of Goliad, TX! I highly recommend it!

I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews Ive read. I dont know if we caught them on an off night or if they were just exhausted from a long day of dealing with patrons from the annual reenactment. They were out of a lot of food and the service was incredibly slow. People seated after us got their food way before we did. We literally had to hunt down someone to get our bill to leave. Green beans were delicious. But it is really hard to screw up green beans with lots of bacon, onions and butter. The chicken-fried steak was also very good although we had to ask for extra gravy twice. I cant recommend the mac and cheese. Seems like the chef forgot the cheese part of that combo.

Awesome Place I am proud to admit once again that the Water Well Cafe and its owners Sammy and Jennifer Lopez are and will continue to be an asset to the community of Goliad and surrounding communities. We drive from Victoria at least once a week, sometimes twice a week, to have breakfast or lunch at the Water Well Cafe. Great food, great service, great prices and ample servings. It is awesome to see that so many people have embraced Sammy and Jennifer for their servants heart. They held the first annual Thanksgiving Feast, for the community, by the community with help from donations and precious volunteers who took a few hours away from their families to help out. Residents of Goliad were served a hot Thanksgiving dinner, dine in, drive thru, and delivered to their homes. To all the folks that had to work and could not be with their families, they received a meal delivered to their place of work, this included nursing home employees, Goliad County Sheriffs office and inmates also were treated to a Turkey Dinner. The dinner was also an opportunity for signing up children for Toys for Tots, gifts that would be given to children that might not be able to get any gifts at Christmas, which was also brought to Goliad by the Lopez family. We have known Sammy and Jennifer for a few years and have served right besides them for many events. I felt like I needed to say this because all this is NOT done for any recognition, of any type. Newspaper, television, award, trophy, or plaque. All these events take place to care for Gods children, and see the smiles and gratitude on children and adults faces when getting help they did not expect. That is what we receive as our reward, Praise God. So when anyone walks in to The Water Well Cafe and enjoys a great meal, remember you also become part of this giving by supporting Sammy and Jennifer. Stumbled upon this place about a month ago, had such a pleasant experience the waitress told us about reservations on Valentines day. Glad we made them, not a single empty table, food was brought out in a very timely manner and was amazing tasting. Staff was awesome as well.

We really enjoyed the food here. Large portions, good flavor and good service. My wife had the chicken fried steak and found it well seasoned. I had the Mac and cheese burger. It appears to be homemade Mac and cheese grilled on a waffle iron that is then used for the bun. Surprisingly delicious. I also had sweet potato fries...yummy. I believe it was the owner himself that waited on us. But every server was friendly and made sure our drinks were filled. $12 for chicken fried steak and $9 for burger.

We took a day trip from Corpus Christi after visiting friends there on the last day of the year and had our dinner here. It was delicious and the portions were generous. My youngest son exclaimed on our way out I m going to give it 5 stars mom the food was delicious! When we returned to Corpus for the New Year celebrations we told all of our friends in attendance that they must visit this restaurant it is definitely worth the drive! We plan to return in 2022 next time we visit Corpus and check out some of the other shops on the square. I highly recommend the food and the atmosphere.

The service was slow. The food selection was limited. Even what they were limited on they ran out of. BUT really what the worst part was - the food they did manage to serve was not made well. Their fries were so pale and under done you could still taste the freezer on them. It was ridiculously over priced for the quality that was served.

My husband and I went to early dinner this evening. We had heard so many nice things about the restaurant. We live in Berclair which is 15 minutes away. The service and food was amazing. I had the 12 oz Ribeye and it was so tender and juicy. I like my steaks medium rare and it was perfect. My husband had the hamburger steak and he said it was the best We are definitely going back!!

Some friends and I were sitting outside, planning where to eat and go since the Water Well and some other local restaurants were closed, and the sweet owner came out to give us (and our dog) some water, then made us some awesome salads even though they were closed! I highly recommend the water well cafe! It s right on the square, and the food is AMAZING! It has that small town family feeling with recipes that remind you of grandmas kitchen! We had the gizzards (omg the batter they are fried in ) , the sandwich melt it comes with caramelized and fresh onions on a perfectly cooked chicken breast, and the peach cobbler ! We live two hours away from this place and plan to make many MANY a more trips back to try the rest of the menu!

We could not ask for better. The atmosphere is great, the staff is friendly, and the food delicious. I applaud the owners for taking time and walking around to visit with the customers, making sure everything is to their liking. I have not yet had any dessert, but the pancakes are the best. I walk in, the staff already knows what I want to order. As for my wife she must like the food, because we drive from Victoria once a week to eat at The Water Well Cafe. We have known Sammy and Jennifer for a good while through church. Mark my words ,they are going to be an asset to the community of Goliad. Check them out, they are on the square in Goliad.
