Last minute reservations for a birthday dinner which was a great choice for 6.5 individuals. Early dinner, 4:15 PM but the kitchen wasn t ready for us. We had 2 orders of the Beef Bruschetta, which took approximately 20 minutes to come out. A LONG time when you are starving for a delicious appetizer, also thank goodness for the Cucumber Lemon Drop, it was delicious. We ordered our food, Fish Tacos, Pumphouse burger (delicious), Ceasar Salad with another order of the Beef Bruschetta (YES, it s that good), and a medium rare 12 oz steak with Creole toppings. Unfortunately the food took much longer to prepare for us and even after the lengthy delay the medium rare steak was overcooked. Sent back and received a perfectly cooked steak. I say all this to prepare large groups planning on visiting to be patient because the kitchen may not be prepared with a timely delivery of entree s. The manager did take off a percentage of the birthday person s steak dinner (helpful & appreciated). The Fish Tacos were okay, the burger is outstanding. Our server Ethan was gracious and courteous, very demure and kind. I recommend going, we love Pumphouse, just need to be patient with a likely lengthy wait on food for larger groups. I m giving a 3-star for the food because of how long it took for us to get our food and because we had to send back the steak.

A very interesting transformation of a historic building re-purposed and used for higher quality dining. The look is amazing. The food, though more expensive than most, was delicious and the portions were large. Even the appetizers for nicely portioned. The wait staff, Ethan, if I remember correctly, was attentive, friendly, and humble. A great choice for any palate.

Great place for lunch or dinner. I had the meat loaf. It has a little kick to it that was fantastic! The waitress told me about the history of the old water works building and let my fiend and I see the old pump room. There are glass floors that let you see down into the old historic plumbing. We drove up from Rockport today for our Anniversary lunch like we have done the last 6 years but we were highly dissatisfied with the ordeal . You totally changed the menus and most of it was not to our liking so we ordered a hamburger and fries plus a pecan chicken salad. About 40 minutes later and no food we got up and left and went someplace else. Now we have to find another place to celebrate our anniversary because we wont be back.

We had planned on several occasions to dine at The PumpHouse Riverside as we drove through Victoria, Texas. For one reason or another we never ate there until June 23, 2024. Our expectations were high but The PumpHouse Riverside exceeded them. We were there for Sunday brunch. The food was excellent. When we were finished and they brought me the bill, I was sure they had given me the wrong one. It was less than half the amount I had expected. The only complaint (and it is a rather minor one) was that the service was a bit slow friendly, but slow. We will be back, that s for certain.

An amazing find in a small town. The restaurant has ample parking and was clean with a river view (weather permitting). Staff were friendly and the drinks were tasty. This is a beautiful restaurant! The food was amazing and the servi e was fabulous. We had a group of 6 and tried each others food. Every dish was different and did not disappoint. Wanted to eat outside but hostess said they are having a problem with catapillars in realty its web worms. They should clean the webs off railings outside. Service wasnt the best. Had to ask for more tea. Hostess was no where to be seen and there was about 4 different parties waiting for awhile. Food was not as good as I was hoping. Vegetarian plate was missing the roasted potatoes and braised carrots, with no explanation but I didnt realize until I got home. Wanted to substitute one vege for another and waiter was clueless if it could be done-had to ask him to go ask the cook. Will we go back, not sure. Utensils had water spots on them and if they are going to set the table with nice napkins utensils should be spotless! Appetizer plates were marked with fingerprints and didnt look clean. Pretty grounds but they need more staff and they sb trained properly.

Start off with we had reservation at 2:15 for Twelve people. My wife went in to tell them we were there.30 minutes later after my wife went in again they started setting up the tables. She couldnt find the hostess anywhere. Had to find the manager. After we finally got seated the hostess never brought utensils, or menus. The waiter showed up to get drink orders. We told him there were no utensils or menus. He got them. After the drinks finally arrived. He took our orders. It took around an hour to get our meals. If we needed a refill on drinks we had to catch him going by. He might refill our glasses in 15 minutes or so. There was other people waiting outside for there names to be called for over an hour. Because of the hostess wouldnt do her job. We was there right at 3 hours because of the poor service. Plus they dont give you an option to tip or not. The bill was around $320 plus almost $60 tip. Service wasnt worth $10 tip. I will admit it use to be a pretty decent place to eat. Not now. Maybe they just need more help. But I read some reviews from employees. There reviews werent very good either. I dont want to go back anymore.

Our experience was terrible, the place had been recommended to us as one of the best in Victoria, we made a reservation a day before and when we arrived they made us wait half an hour to get to the table, it will take another 10-15 minutes to take our order, The food arrived after 35 minutes. And to make our experience worse, two of the ribeye were given to us cold, another dish did not have the side, we had to get up to order a drink since the waiter never came. The appetizers we ordered never arrived at the table and they wanted to charge us for them. Our consumption was almost 300 dollars, they charged us 96 dollars for the ribeyes that were cold and not cooked as we ordered. They had to return with the ticket to remove them from the check. The place is 0 recommended, we will never return, 0 in everything that can be rated

First time visit and we were blown away by the great setting and quality food. Service was prompt and friendly. We were able extremely impressed. This South Texas lunch menu does not include tacos. Their supposed alternative, hamburgers, are cooked medium-well without warning. Served on a dry roll with one piece of lettuce, a slice of tomato and a slice of cheese the width of my finger. I guess if you want onions or pickles you have to ask because that was it, for $16. If I were rating the ambiance alone, its a solid 5 stars. Food... definitely five stars. Bar and service. 1 star. The drinks are terrible. They are very weak. We sent the old fashion back because it looked and tasted like cherry Kool-Aid. The waitress asked if we wanted a double. NO, we just want the single we ordered made correctly. My rum and coke, had virtually no rum in it. The drinks also took a long time to come out. We ordered drinks before our appetizer and they came out together. When our food was delivered we ordered a second round, and I was almost done eating before that round came out. At first we thought it was the bar. It was prom night so the place was busy, but not packed. Then we remembered these are high school kids, so they obvsiouly werent drinking. Then we started paying attention to the bartender. He wasnt busy at all, so we figured it was our waitress. We asked for plates when our appetizer came out. She brought them as we were finishing the appetizer. Id asked for a lime for my second rum and coke... never got it. We had to ask twice to get our check and a box. Mind you we are sitting on the patio where it wasnt as busy as the inside, and there also two other servers working out there. We noticed other tables were frustrated on the service. This was our second visit, we remember the drinks sucked on our first visit. Its a shame. This is one of the nicest places in Victoria, and the food is really good. But they need to step up their game on their bar and service.

04/06/2024 Lunch. We got there right when they opened at 11:00 am. And by 11:15, there were a half dozen tables of customers with more coming in. What a beautiful restaurant! The menu was great, and the ambiance was better than the photos would indicate. My wife ordered the Slice Berg Wedge Salad (iceberg lettuce, ranch dressing, tomatoes, bacon, tabasco roasted pecans, pears, and bleu cheese crumbles). I had the Beef Salad (grilled flank steak served medium rare over spring greens, with bleu cheese crumbles, charred grapes, and tabasco marinated onion strings with choice of dressing). We started the meal with an appetizer, the Braised Beef Empanadas (crispy pastry dough stuffed with slow braised short ribs and Manchego cheese. Served with Blackberry gastrique). Everything I just described was fantastic! Except for the beef in my salad. The meat in my first salad was cooked well done, and my wife mentioned that it was supposed to be medium rare. So they took it back and replaced the meat. I wasnt in the restaurant bc I had to go to our truck to cool it down for our dog that was in the back seat. Even so, the replacement version was excellent. Then my wife noticed they forgot the sliced pear and blue cheese crumbles and mentioned it to me. I had just come back to our table when they brought the replaced salad, and I asked to speak to the manager. It was now almost 12:30, and it took an hour and a half to get my salad. My wife was finished eating by now. I asked the manager to discount my wifes meal bc they omitted some of the best ingredients. And I told her how long we waited for our food. Truth be told, she was awesome! She gave us both a 50% discount and apologized for the errors. A nice gesture that went a long way to correcting the situation. So how do you rate this meal? Great food, terrible experience, and a huge gesture that helped so much. I cant do 5 stars bc of the terrible time management, but the food was crazy good. So Ill say very good (4 stars) to at least account for the chefs mistakes. Take a minute to check out the pictures. Excellent: Uniquely satisfying. A special place. Very Good: Better than expected. Went for dinner for our anniversary. Called ahead and made reservations for 6:00pm. When we arrived, we were told that they couldnt find our reservation. After some time, they found us a table, in the mostly EMPTY restaurant. Appetizers: we ordered the beef empanadas, server returned and said they were out. Entree: ordered ribs and pasta, server returned later and said they were out of that as well. Our server recommended the meatloaf. The portion size of the meatloaf was hardly the size of a small dinner roll. Our server at least was great, but overall we were disappointed with the dinner as a whole. A Saturday night and you are out of appetizers and entrees. Needless to say, we do not recommend going and will not be returning ourselves.

What a beautiful place, although be careful sitting outside, the bugs were everywhere. Was also not fond of all the cats on property, but others at our table didnt mind that. We even got visited by a curious trash panda (raccoon). Appetizers were amazing. We ordered the fondue, which was so tasty. Also, for the stuffed mushrooms, which were some of the best Ive had. I have to say that we all ordered steaks, and none of them were cooked correctly. I ended up sending mine back. A $50 steak should be cooked to perfection. This is the reason for the two stars on the food. It had the potential of being great. We are in Texas! Enough said! The service was amazing, and their Cucumber lemon drop was mind-blowing. Everything we ordered was GREAT! All of the food tasted delicious. We had mushroom soup, spicy pecan crusted chicken, fish tacos, pasta, ahi tuna nachos, and beef bruschetta. The service could have been better but from the looks of it, it seemed like the servers were on a rotation for outside tables (we sat outside) and it took a bit to get service and to get checked on. But when our server was at our table, she was sweet. We had to ask multiple people for coloring sheets for a little one at our table. Again, I think thats because we were outside. Met family from Houston we came from Corpus Christi location great! Bruschetta fantastic! Meals sadly lacking 4 steaks at approximately $50 each tough tasteless were med rare, wouldnt order them ever again. Didnt even finish. Vegetables totally uncooked hard. We were there upon opening, rolls were good. Tea was great. Very nice and clean. Lovely server food was totally gross and unacceptable! $200.00 plus for lunch $35.00 tip & we meet there frequently in Victoria we will be looking for another location.

The Pumphouse Riverside Restaurant is a lunch favorite and is a staple of casual yet sophisticated dining is this quaint small town. The pecan crusted chicken was the winner this go around. Enjoy your surroundings and try something new on the menu. Sorry there aren t any photos in this review, I just started digging in and was deep in conversation that it slipped my mind.

Exquisite historic atmosphere. A gem in Victoria TX. Beautiful grounds. We were a large group of 12. Had the private room with glass floors that revealed the original pumping station. Excellent service. The food I had was very well prepared. Would recommend if you live in Victoria or just passing through.

I expected more from this place to be honest. The environment is really nice but the food could be way better. I got the Tuna and it was cooked way too much. The quinoa had a very overpowering jalapeño flavor, and the sauce was okay. I would have preferred more acidic flavors/better seasoning. The plating job could also use improvement. I tried the 8 oz steak and it was pretty good, but I wouldnt have liked to pay the price for what you get.

Atmosphere is fantastic.. has outside covered sitting by the river and heat source when chilly. For the exquisite atmosphere and high cost the degree of food could be much better. Great specialties on menu yet like the fruit served had part of the rind and not the best fresh fruit choices. Would still highly recommend

Place looked great and seemed really high-class. That being said I figured I could get a pretty good medium rare steak. Well it finally came out and it was overcooked and completely uneven when it came to color. While it did get pinker as I got to the middle, it was still tough and to be honest it tasted pretty bland aside from the burnt flavor. I asked the manager about it and she claims thats how it should be cooked (at the time I was in the middle of the steak and it was a little pinker). I would be willing to try this place again and would suggest it to others, but I would definitely order my steak rare. Buddy of mine got the shrimp and they were delicious.

We really enjoyed our dinner last week. The building is cozy and inviting inside with a really nice outside patio with open and covered areas and nice views. We decided to eat on the patio and met several house guests (aka cats) while chatting. Service was excellent, friendly, and attentive. The food was the real surprise - excellently prepared and nicely presented. My Togarashi Tuna was extremely tasty and a nice mixture of flavors and textures. My friends Salmon Patillo was given very high marks for flavor and preparation. Kudos to the chef. Nicely done.

Nicely redone facility right on the river. Appetizers were very good. Had both the bacon wrapped mac and the fried pimento cheese. Recommend both. Everyone who ordered entrees was also pleased. The two of us who ordered burgers were disappointed. Stick with main menu and save room for dessert.

A very nice, quiet place for a lunch or dinner. Sit out on the deck and oversee the river or sit inside-you cant go wrong. Parking: PLENTY of parking-boats, RV and trailers will not have an issue. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly and the deck is child proof, there is a park and a zoo very close. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy single story access

I travel every week to different areas of the country for work. Every 3 months I end up in Victoria, TX and I make it a point to always eat at The Pump House. It has consistently great service, amazing appetizers (steak bruschetta!) and fantastic entrees. Thanks again for a great experience!

We go to the Pumphouse fairly often from Aransas Pass. The food, service, and atmosphere are always v good. This time all was great except for the terrible service. This is the exception, not the rule. The shrimp and grits were awesome. Will order that one again. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Nice location, nice property...upscale atmosphere. Service is good but, for myself, Ive found the food to be lacking on all of my visits. Twice had the traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, breakfast potato) and each time the plate was swimming in oil. Latest visit went for the Belgian Waffle (menu says it comes with maple syrup and whipped cream), asked for no syrup but add side order of strawberries (a $2.95 extra). Plate arrived with waffle and 1.5 strawberries...no cream. Was told that the kitchen no longer adds the whipped cream!!! I persisted, pointing out the menu, and was provided with a small cup of whipped cream. VERY disappointing, and inappropriate. Where possible I will in future demur from going back.

My husband and I had lunch at the Pumphouse yesterday. We had been looking forward to eating at the restaurant for a while. We were disappointed. First, the hostess offered us outside or inside seating. She said we could try outside and if it was too hot, we could come inside. No problems. Well, it was obviously a huge problem to the staff when we decided to come inside to eat. We were almost seated at one of the many available tables. Then we got the bums rush into the bar. Seated at a wobbly bar table. The floor was very dirty. The meal was ok. On the way to the bathroom, after we ate, we both noticed the very chaotic and dirty kitchen. If you are going to keep a dirty kitchen, at least cover the windows on kitchen door. Finally, I dont mind the cats outside. The calico one is very pregnant. Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Victoria offers low cost spay and neuter. If you want to go for the Tuscan outdoor venue look, you really need to take care of your animals. Pat Keller

I was treated to this place by a co-worker. We had to be seated outside because of prom. It was windy and chilly out. I wish they had a cover or used a heat lamp of some kind underneath the patio area. The food was satisfactory. The staff worked hard to collect dishes and serve tables been there, I get it. Our cups were plastic, which I prefer. There were some resident cats on the property. They did not bother, but they know when the food comes to your table. I would rather not dine with a feline staring me down for my fish tacos. The prices are moderate, and the portions filling.

I tried the special asparagus wrapped in beef on mashed potatoes with gravy and a wine sauce. Not a big fan I have tried the pecan crusted chicken and the chicken fried steak and those were awesome. We sat on the deck and the white fuzzy worms kept falling on us and crawling up our legs. There must be something that can be done about that Our waitress seemed to forget about our beers and our side orders. We will go back but it may be a while.
