We have gone to Javis Restaurant, as a dog friendly option, for a couple of years. We have always been seated in a shady patio area, close to a fan, and had great experiences. However, we went there on October 2, and were told they have changed their dog policy, and we can only be seated at the extreme end of the patio, on the street side, where there are no fans and only umbrellas for shade. It was too hot to sit in the new dog area, no fans, and the umbrella was insufficient for adequate shade. We had to leave without ordering and will not return due to their new dog policy

We come here frequently because the atmosphere on the patio is awesome and the food is usually pretty good. I hate that the service is usually bad or really bad. It doesn t matter if we come when they are busy or not we almost always get bad service, I don t understand it. Do better please!!!

Food here is great, and dont forget to order desert because their Tres Leches is amazing! Great service. We recommend making a reservation, especially during weekends; We were seated about 10-15 minutes after our resevation time. Four stars instead of five because our table and seats were dirty and we ended up cleaning them ourselves. Also, it is very loud and fast paced, at least during Saturday night dinner. We will go back because we enjoyed our meal and had good service, but maybe not on the weekend when it is so busy and loud.

Javis is a nice place for dinner! Great atmosphere, great service and really good food. Its different than most Mexican food places, they offer Peruvian shrimp for instance - but you can still get things like delicious enchiladas and the best chips and salsas in town. Some good vegetarian options too. The margaritas are excellent and taste great but warning - never have more than two! Theyre really strong. Vegetarian options: Theyll make veggie enchiladas even though theyre not on the menu!

I am so disappointed and disgusted that Javi s allows dogs. We went to grab dinner in June of 2024 and a couple with their dog sat next to us. Don t worry- he s friendly!! Nope- I m allergic and the dog kept trying to get under our table. We moved. The woman allowed him to EAT OFF OF HER PLATE. From our new table, we sat two groups get up and stare down at the dog. He PUKED on the floor! Didn t go to Javi s for months. We went back today assuming there s no way they d still let dogs in there. TWO groups of patrons came in with dogs. The hostess tried to seat us on the patio (which we asked for) but as soon as we sat down, I felt something furring at my feet. A dog was squirming its head trying to get between my feet! Another dog lunged at a toddler, who started bawling. Again, I m allergic and can t have dogs near me. We went inside and were facing the patio. The family with the toddler told the waitstaff they were sick if dogs being allowed in the restaurant. The dog who had been at my feet was licking food from the waiters HANDS. Our waiter went out to the patio to drop off a check (chips and salsa in tow), bent down, and let the dog lick and get literally all over her hands and face. She came to drop off the chips and salsa after getting dog saliva all over her. We declined and left. If you have any semblance of a desire to stay hygienic, do NOT go to Javi s. We will only go to Humo or Cantiba Laredo now. Jump has a sign posted that dogs aren t allowed EVEN ON THE PATIO which is a great relief to me and anyone else with dog allergies. Absolutely disgusting. I m sure that dog owners can handle being away from their dogs for an hour while they eat. Trashy.

We have been to Javis several times and had good service. We were there Saturday August 24th with friends and the whole experience was very disappointing. The hostesses seemed confused and we had to wait a bit to be seated. They took us to the wrong table and then to a table that was not cleaned yet. We ordered drinks and noticed others that had been seated after us had received theirs. After about 30 minutes we asked our server about the drinks and he said the bar was backed up but immediately came back with them in hand. They were watered down so you could tell they had been there for a while. When we received our food (fajitas) the tortillas were hard and cold. He did tell us fresh ones were coming out. It took too long to get our checks and the wait to cash out was long. We did arrive around 5 so it was not too busy until later before we left. We are so disappointed. Eating out is not cheap and we hesitate to return.

The tacos did not have any of the toppings listed on the menu, the chicken was brought out without the vegetables or the queso, the waiter acted like he hated his job and like getting us the things that were forgotten was hard for him, the service was VERY slow. I love this restaurant! I always order the same pickup order to go: Modern tacos (carne asada and Mexican rice) and its always excellent. However last night I was one of the last orders before the kitchen closed and ended up with what felt like a rushed order, far too spicy to eat, and missing many of the normal ingredients like cabbage and cilantro. I called the restaurant and Adrianne (I may be misspelling her name) immediately offered to refund the order or remake it, no questions asked. I came away so impressed with this restaurant, and how they treat customers. They will certainly continue to be one of my first choices for Tex Mex. Highly recommended! Thank you Adrianne (sp?)

In route to the table, our Host complained about the hectic day, I understood, they looked busy. (Beautiful Restaurant) I asked him if we could have a large table on the patio, it looked like a great spot to have lunch and was not occupied. He stood there for a minute, smiled, and said Were about to seat people there then put us in a booth facing another table (no one ever sat at that beautiful table on the patio facing the pond for our entire meal, what a shame). He then kindly topped it off with an unpleasant glare as we left the restaurant, very uncomfortable, I scurried our party of 6 out the door. I didnt care for Javis the first time, now I really dont care for it. Our server however was very attentive and professional, he gets 5 stars. Food is so so.

Food wasn t to blame. Service was beyond abysmal. This dude didn t come around at all. We were sitting by the railing and he came to the other tables and by the time I noticed where he was, he jetted out. Gave us three tortillas for a combo fajita that came out about 9 minutes after our food did. Overall the ability to sit outside and my kids feed the turtles for .25 a handulf(no biggie) good times to be had but the service could very well be mended to make sure even the adults have a good time.

Management allows one particular bartender with the attitude of a petulant child (everyone there knows who it is, multiple complaints) to cause everyone, customers and waiters alike, to have a miserable experience. Multiple customers and waiters had to ask when he was going to make their drinks. He sauntered around as slowly as possible, making sure everyone there knew he was going to make them when he was good and ready, and not a minute before. We initially sat at the bar for ten minutes as he walked around and never made eye contact once. We finally gave up on getting menus or drinks at the bar, and had them sit us at a bar table, where he proceeded to take 20 minutes to make us two Margaritas, with very few customers in the restaurant. He even left the bar area to get more towels, with multiple drink orders still waiting to be made. Multiple customers had to get up from their tables and ask what the problem with their drinks was. In the end, it is managements fault for allowing him to provide such terrible customer service. If they have had multiple complaints, why is he still tending bar? If you want to stay in business, you have to control your people. And why not employ a team concept with waitstaff? Lots of people standing around when they could be helping other team members provide customers with more chips, water, bringing out drinks and food. The worst part? It looks like they only respond to positive reviews. No apologies for the poor service I received, no promises to do better. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of getting feedback from your customers, which is to get better.

Since everyone is ranting about Brian Conner, I must add that we come in every Monday morning and ask for Brian. He is so personable, and we love to share our stories and tell him about our trips we take. He always has our drinks being made and our appetizers on the way by the time we sit down! I have never had someone who knew exactly what I wanted and had it waiting for me because they saw me walking in. Tyler is among one of the great towns to get a variety of food in, but its the personable EXPERIENCE that sets Javis apart from the rest. do ask for Brian Conner.

I came to visit my best friend in flint for the weekend. I am from Houston. We came to Javis and I absolutely loved my experience. Grace was my waitress and did a wonderful job. When you dine at Javi s your experience will be elevated if you request Amber to be your server. We scheduled a birthday dinner for two friends and we had 11 at our table. Amber never missed a beat. When I asked her to help our friend who cannot have alcohol to find a great Mocktail instead. Amber made sure our birthday girl got a great cocktail . Every guest felt attended to, the food, as always, did not disappoint and our party never needed anything that wasn t already anticipated by Amber. This place is amazing. The food is great and the service is amazing. The totality of the restaurant is gorgeous and the view to the lake or pond is breathtaking. They have amazing carne asada and the desserts are decadent and huge in size. I would definitely be returning since the prices are so on point. I love this place. We had Isabella (Izzy) as a server. She made it a super personal & one on one experience. Despite us being regulars, She was so knowledgeable & informative of the specials, which we always appreciate. The manager, Corby, was incredibly impressive & personable. We love when the managers stop by to make sure that our visit is top-tier & Corby did just that ! Overall, probably one of the best dining-out experiences we ve had in a while. Went there Sat May 25, 2024 at 8 pm the service was terrible! As soon as we sat down the server asked if we were going to have separate checks and she proceeded to tell us about her other table . We asked for another set of salsa and she asked if we could eat the ones on the table ( apparently she didn t understand we wanted fresh salsa) she moaned , complained and made us feel like we were a bother . The food was slightly warm and the cheese was hard. I was in complete shock how terrible in food and the service was all in one. No manager came around. I will not be back Terrible food Terrible service No manager to be found. Messy restaurant Disappointed Update ; your response is a quick reply because it s on Google . Are you really going to address your team ? Servers , warm-ish food and what about the lack of any management floating around?

Met here with family for Mother s Day. Checked in with counter at 12:20 pm. Was told we d be seated in 45 minutes. I took note of everyone in area when we checked in and until we were seated. We were finally seated in the cold outdoor patio (66 F) at 2:00 pm (1 hour and 40 minutes after checking in). All the people in the check in area before and after us for at least 1 hour 30 minutes were seated before us. So, needless to say, the customer service was horrible. The food finally arrived at 2:40 pm and was terrible. No one at our table ate all of their plate. No one wanted carry out boxes. The atmosphere was generally unsightly with sticky tables, chairs, and floors. No one there working seemed to care, including the rather rotund floor manager. There were a lot of workers standing around needing guidance from better supervision. This place could be fantastic. I ve tried it now 4 times since they opened a few years ago, but each time I m more disappointed than the last. Poor service, worse food, and no real atmosphere The

We went today for the first time, and we arrived around 11:00 am. At that time is was very quiet and nice. Waiter was excellent, and food was delicious. The guacamole was excellent as is. Inside, the floor was wet, slick, and the place smelled bad. The music was ok yet extremely loud. Food seemed overpriced. The little girl did a great job considering what she had to work with. Its appears to be a yuppie hang out because people cant think for them selves and just want to be seen and brag about the great experience they clearly did not really have. We came here a few times when it first opened and I loved it! The atmosphere as soon as you walk in, the beautiful outdoor scenery will always be a 10/10. It s been a while since we went back and of course I like to stay up to date on ratings which were all 5 stars so we were stoked to stop by. The wait wasn t long at all, we got a wonderful outdoor seat but not only did our server take forever to greet us (I m a server too so I totally understand when it s busy but it wasn t) she also took forever to come back and check that our order wasn t idealistically correct, as well as always had to be asked for refills and even with all our plates stacked still took a while to bring the check. All of that was totally fine for us even, lord knows I ve had my days too. What really got me was the downhill slide in the quality of food. The beans and rice reminded me of the same stuff you d maybe fine at some concession stand school event, or straight from a can of poor quality. I wish I was being dramatic. The queso too, it was so thick and flavorless, leaving a coat as it goes down. Almost like all they did was melt a block of cheese and call it good. Lastly, the ribeye enchiladas was basically just a bunch of fatty pieces. Maybe we just got a bad day, I don t know. We ll try again!

Ive been wanting to go here for some time. Its a high-end atmosphere in the dining room but comfy and casual in the back on the patio. My SIL got the shrimp tacos, she said they were very shrimpy tasting I assume it was imported. We also got the guacamole in queso both of those are fantastic salsa options or something different, I had the crispy enchiladas (aka taquito). It was a nice experience.

Driving through Tyler on the way to Waco last weekend and decided to grab a bite at Javi s. We called ahead and requested reservation at 1 pm. The guy on the phone was very friendly and helpful. Once we got to the restaurant right at 1 pm, the hostess lack of charm took a dismal turn. She barely looked at us and basically acknowledged us by pointing at our name on the reservation. We then proceeded to stand and wait for another 20 minutes as she seated others. Not a word, not a glance. It took another person, that my husband summoned, to point out that she totally skipped over us. Not a sorry or anything just an expressionless robot to take us to our table. Our wait staff was awesome and a welcome change from our hostess. She was training someone and they both were great. Good was awesome as always. Strongly suggest the spicy watermelon margaritas.

My sister and I hardly ever get to go out and eat together and enjoy time with each other. So where we end up going is a huge deal to us because we want to have a good time good food and good service. This place met all of our expectations and more. I had never been my sister had so she knew how good it was and wanted me to enjoy it too. When we walked in the hostesses were quiet but nice and sat us relatively quickly. The atmosphere was relaxed and the decor was modern and really nice. When we were sat Ellie our server came to us immediately with chips, slasa, and a smile. She was very personable and wasnt a robot. Ive worked in the restaurant business the majority of my life and to see someone enjoy their job speaks for the management there. We were both very indecisive and she was super patient with us. She recommended the watermelon margarita on the rocks and I am so happy we got it. It was very refreshing and hit the spot. I had the Sauls chicken with vegetables and rice. I wasnt a fan of the veggies cause it had asparagus in it but thats on me for not asking what the veggies were. The rice was flavorful and not overcooked. The chicken was wonderful and not tough as well. The Sauls sauce was delicious and a perfect match for the chicken. My sister enjoyed the chicken and rice soup and the queso too. We tried each others food and it was great all the way around. Im definitely bringing my family back to enjoy it with me next time. We had Javi s cater a family event this weekend. The food and service was excellent!!!! All guests said they were the best fajitas they ve ever had. Steak was extremely tender and flavorful.. I highly recommend combo fajitas and queso blanco for your next party. Leah was awesome in coordinating everything and the young man delivering food was so nice and helpful. This limitation, while manageable, does add a layer of planning complexity for those of us organizing events on a larger scale. It would be wonderful to have the flexibility to call further ahead of time, ensuring everything is set well in advance, reducing last-minute scrambles and ensuring peace of mind. In closing, my experiences with Javis have been overwhelmingly positive. From the delectable food to the sterling service and the adept management, it s a place that has earned my trust and admiration.
