Three stars is generous for this place. The food is so bland, a microwave dinner has more flavor. The service was good, the aqua fresca was good, but thats it. This food tastes like it was made for an old folks home. The salsa is basically tomato soup, there are no recognizable tomatoes onions or cilantro in it. The chips should be good, they look legit, but are so hard I thought I bit into a rock at one point. The beef again has zero flavor and the tortillas hardly had any sign of being warmed in a pan or however its done, it was like a packaged mission tortilla. The rice had no taste at all! It was like uncle bens from the microwave, but worse. The refried beans were sub par. I ate here with 4 other people and nobody finished their food, which is unusual for this group. This isn t a trash review, I just think this is the worst Mexican restaurant in Tyler, there are so many options that are miles ahead of this place, Taco Bell tastes better than mama o s! Get it together guys!!

This place was such a pleasant surprise for us. The breakfast plate was loaded with eggs bacon and all the fixings prepared as requested. The shrimp cocktail was full of all the good stuff! The pazole was like the best homemade I have ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant

Went on a Saturday evening and nearly had the place to ourselves. We were told that lunch and week nights are busy times. We had a fair sized group and pulled several tables together. They have a nice selection of Mexican beer and a couple of domestic beers. This is Mexican food, not Tex-Mex. The menu is extensive with breakfast, seafood, lots more. Enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, and soups are all highly recommended. Rice and beans are excellent. They have lots of different sauces for tacos.

A couple of friends & I go to Mama Olivos periodically for menudo Sunday as we refer to it. This is the ONLY place Ive ever eaten menudo. And, considering the love & effort put into its preparation...I doubt Id ever try it anywhere else. On this occasion we tried a drink called Michelada. (Ill let you form your own opinion.) It was nice to try something new, again, with them @ Mama Olivo.

This place wasnt that good. I ordered chicken taco and received beef. The beef was so small it was barely there at all. I didnt want refried beans bc they have too much salt but they couldnt accommodate me with any other bean, so I requested a salad. Again the salad was very small portion and didnt have any dressing. I wasnt happy and would never go there again.

Not sure why this place has such high ratings, food was bland, we ordered a gordita plate and caldo de res, both were flavorless. The caldo was on the warm side almost getting to cold and you could tell that the meat had been reheated as it was getting tough. The server was very friendly and the atmosphere was family oriented. On my visit the biggest miss was the food. I wouldnt recommend this location.

DO NOT go here to eat!!!! I came here in a recommendation that the food was good. It was not for sure. I came on February 8th and just got something simple like soft tacos. I got them around noon and by 2pm I was horribly sick. I was vomiting solid for 3hrs. I know it wasnt food poisoning since that tales 8 hours. It was the food itself, it had to be spoiled. It was either the pulled chicken or fajita beef or maybe the cheese, cilantro, or lettuce. I dont know but it made me incredibly sick. Eat here at your own risk!!!!!

I thought this was authentic as it seems on the waitr app in photos. First time ordering this place and it was absolutely awful . The rice was not cooked , the melon drink was made out of powder , the enchiladas are not made with real red sauce more out of a can. There is not even one good thing to say about the meal I ordered. If I could send it back and get my money back that would ve been great . 30$ in the trash bc noone else would eat it. If your looking actual good food this isn t the place.

I like places when they make their own tortillas. They also make their own chips. This place makes hand made corn tortillas. Had the bistec and tripas tacos. Bistec tacos were great. Cant say too much about the tripa tacos as they didnt put enough tripas in it. The only thing I could taste was the onions and cilantro. Other then that, bistec tacos, rice and beans were delicious.

This is an amazing choice for those looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. Freshly made lemonade, excellent chili con queso, mild but flavorful salsa and the use of steak instead of ground beef make this place an excellent hotspot. The fajitas at this restaurant were delicious! I didnt taste that boring liquid smoke tasting marinade that I taste at some restaurants. The hot sauce was thin but so good! Chips were sturdy and freshly fried. Corn tortillas tasted freshly made as well. I will definitely visit them again. Their menu was extensive and includes breakfast. The salsa here is great! I normally like a thicker salsa but this one has such a great taste! I put it on everything I ordered, the quesadillas, chips and the rice. I will definitely be going back.
